20% in an hour, did it improve during the rest of the day? and what did you do with the phone in that hour? as 20% sounds like a lot, it would mean you need to recharge every 5 hours which seems like a bit much if you ask me

Really not bad. I was coming from omnirom 4.4.2, which is very similar to this one.
The only issues I faced:
- google keyboard did not appear while setting up google account (I had to install the apk of another keyboard that was in my sdcard, remove the apk in /system/app and reinstall it and now it works like a charm);
- for some reason I had a wakelock for android system, which was eating my phone's battery like a 10% an hour, but killing it and rebooting did the trick and now the rom is quite battery friendly.
I removed the apps in chinese (or Japanese? ) well, the ones in kanji, because I was unable to understand their goal, and turned the launcher to work in landscape too (via xposed module). I also changed the dpi of the dialer app for it to fit better while in multiwindow and I am very satisfied wuth this rom, which is very smooth.
Does Art work btw? I did not try myself because the xposed framework does not support it atm.
Good work
Ps: just to inform the other users, I see no halo atm, though I don't like it that much afterwards.

Art works

I don't know how significant it can be but, with a quite intense use, i.e. 3g plus wifi and GPS always on, gmail, exchange, cloudmagic and another client (pocketpec) 30 mails with attachments read or more and let's say 20 sent by me, phone calls lasting one hour or even longer, my battery in 14 hours and 35 minutes has so far gone from 100% to 19%.
With the same usage a 4.1.2 stock rom could save something like a 10% more, according to my own experience, so battery life is not that bad.
Regarding 4.3 stock roms, I have always used the deknoxed ones with the devil kernel and battery life is by far worse, unless you tweak the settings a bit.

Adding the Agni kernel significantly increases the battery life . even more so when you go in the kernel settings and adjust the governor . 16 hours of use on the latest nightly and I went down 15 %

I don't see why not. I just flashed it in T-Mobile note 2. Only problem I have is that keyboard fc. Trying to figure out a fix, if I should install the provided gapps.

Certainly, it's own gapps will fix that problem.
The last time i tried this ROM, I couldn't get the full screen (immersive) mode though. Also, I am not sure if headset (with mic) issues with 3rd party apps like Viber or Skype has been fixed. This similar issue is also present with CM.

Hey developers can you add transparency for notification drawer and quick settings tiles too? Also power widgets please port features from cm remix Rom they have a ton of features and still rock solid

SuperUser security fixes
Several BT fixes
Selinux security enhancements
LID control fix
some translation upstream
nearly all device got device and kernel updates
Please note these builds are NO LONGER under development! we've moved on to KitKat 4.4!
Known Issues:
General:
New YouTube from google can cause pixelated video in HD - when you run into this issue you can only use the older YouTube version till google hopefully fixes it with an update
Recents screen in expanded desktop shows on some apps a black thumbnail
uninstalling/updating apps may cause a soft reboot.....nothing major...app is uninstalled/updated correctly. The system just tries to clear the app completly. Can usually be prevented by "Settings -> Apps -> APPNAME -> Force Stop" before uninstalling.
Device Specific:
FCs on bootup after flashing AIO (and/or Aroma) Gapps... see below for fix - Fixed!
Random reboots on auto-rotate (mostly when using YouTube and/or Camera) - Fixed!
libskia.so related FC on OfficeSuite and sync.me (and possibly others)... see below for fix
4.3 mini-FAQ
Q) Root doesn't work!
A) From a clean build you need to enable root access for Superuser itself. This is different from 4.2.2 in which Superuser by default had root access on a new install. To do this, go to Settings -> Developer options -> Root access. If an app attempts to request root access before Superuser itself has access, it may cause problems with that app in the future where root requests are silently denied.
Q) Developer Options? What Developer Options? I don't see that in Settings??!?
A) By default, this is conveniently hidden from view... as it does contain settings and options that can (and will) break stuff if you don't know what you're doing. If you require access to this, Settings -> About Phone... Then tap on the Build Number 7 times.
Q) Titanium Backup isn't restoring apps!
A) Change the backups folder to storage/emulated/legacy.
Q) QuickOffice, sync.me (insert other app here) FC's, logcat shows libskia.so issue... what do I do?
A) Get the libskia.so from here... remount /system as RW, push libskia.so to /system/lib/libskia.so, then set permissions on it to 644... (TIP: use ADB or root explorer of your choice)

Very nice rom WITH ADVANCED SETTINGS and all apps working.
Great work....will try tonight.

The performance boost compared to Slim Bean 8 is amazing
but...
Why has the lockscreen changed? Now it stretches the lockscreen wallpaper like crazy, the white frames of the lockscreen widgets are too close to the status bar, and overall it just looks awful (IMO)! Isn't there any hope you could return it to the way it was before, like on Android 4.2.2 builds of Slim?

The lockscreen is like that on new SlimROM, and if is like I think that ROM will get "official" or "weekly" so he must improve things that are related for the Note , not about the original ROM. That is a native SlimROM and I think is better it to stay like that If you like 4.2.2 style you can install SlimROM build 8 Hope to helped you

I understand. But I thought maybe if I "reported" it and the main devs heard about it, they might rethink it, and return it to the way it was. Going back to build 8 is not a solution, it's just a workaround. I don't expect or demand anyone to fix this, I'm not paying for anything, and I know that. Still, I want to use this ROM, but this issue is really on my nerves, so I just did what I could do - I asked if something can be done about this. I'm not hoping that it will get fixed, but I believe it's better than not asking about it

I understand better now Idk if that is SlimROM fail or not, we have to see on anither devices. But yes it cab be fixed, if the OP doesn't make it official he can edit it for going better or he can be releasing a modded SlimROM. Anyway the best thing to do is text some SlimROM developer using IRC and say them the error you have, they will give you an answer

The issue only happens when using a custom image for lockscreen wallpaper.
I attached screenshots comparing the lockscreen in this build and build 8. The one on the right in each picture is build 8.
I believe this issue is caused because there was an attempt to fix the transparent status bar issue on the lockscreen when using a custom lockscreen wallpaper (which you can see in the first attachment, in build 8). But if you think about it, it's possibly better if it stays the way it was before, because the current issue (wallpaper being stretched) happens when using a custom lockscreen wallpaper, regardless of the statusbar transparency, while the issue that was present in older builds (transparent status bar in lockscreen) only happened when using a custom wallpaper AND a transparent status bar. In other words, the new issue could possibly effect more users (like me).
anyone see on battery stats??

did you switch to any kernel for better battery performance???
No, I didn't. Stock slim kernel comes as kernel version 3.0.80, whereas stock CM comes as 3.0.64.
For me enough to test it thoroughly, not just one charging cycle. Battery life depends enormously of the usage pattern, so userspace.
Install better battery stats, wakelock detector and CPU spy (reborn) to identify the culprit for wakelock and the phone not entering deep sleep. But there are threads on xda which deal with those use cases.

SlimKat 4.4.2 Build 4
Build 4 is live! Please read the Changelog for more details including proper upgrade/installation methods, as well as notes on activating root.
Changes, Features & Fixes:
Changelog for Build 4
changelogs since stable SlimKat 3 release: 3.2 - 3.4 - 3.6 - 3.8 - 3.10
Framework: Fix LTE tile
Framework: SlimPie: turn on HA on highEndGfx devices
Framework: Add Landscape layout for ECA
Framework: Add support for QC's time_daemon
Framework: SystemUI: Remove broadcast from QH toggles
Settings: QuierHours service: call with qualified user and introduce controller
Settings: Fix possible illegal argument exception
Camera2: if camera HAL does not return valid picture formats do not show wrong values.
Device specific: several fixes and upstream. See attached changelog on the device download
Gapps: Complete rework of the gapps package. Update to Google Music, Google YouTube, Google PlayStore TRDS
n7000 Specific Known Issues (Build 4 as at 01/04/2014):
SDCard/Fuse Daemon issues (aka "Music Playback Bug"). On extended music play it can suddenly happen that the playback stops.
Camcorder - Zoom on 1080p mode is buggy see below for "workaround"
WiFi Direct doesn't work
General Known Issues (Build 4 as at 01/04/2014):
LTE tile: on clean flash if the first toggle of LTE tile does not work go into settings->more->mobile networks and set one time the network mode to 3g. After this the LTE toggle will work always as expected
National data roaming: If you tick the option in settings all entries get visually disabled although they still work. Do not worry about it and just re-enter the screen again and it is corrected. As long as SlimKat supports your provider this works as intended.
Notes:
If you are running on ART, and you're having issues with an app... check this list to see whether app is known to have issues with ART.
Zoom on 1080p mode "sometimes" works... if you set camcorder to 1080p, switch to camera, change res so zoom starts working again, and then switch back to camcorder... zoom will work on 1080p :silly: However, if you turn the screen off, or close and re-open the camera, the zoom will be broken again Also, once it stops working on camcorder, it'll probably stop working on camera as well until you change the resolution/picture size
4.4 mini-FAQ
Q) Root doesn't work!
A) From a clean build you need to enable root access for Superuser itself. This is different from some earlier versions of android (4.2 and below) in which Superuser by default had root access on a new install.
Q) How to change DPI?
A) Currently, this feature hasn't been ported... so you'll need to install Texdroider DPI from the playstore... or edit /system/build.prop and change ro.sf.lcd_density to the desired value
Q) Music just randomly stops playing... and then won't work properly until reboot and/or drains battery?
A) Unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot we can do. Due to new SDCard handling and issues with FUSE, there is a strange quirk with Exynos4 devices like i9100 and n7000 where the system freaks out and dies... users have had various levels of success trying some of the following workarounds: 1. format sdcards with ExFAT (apparently can cause issues with backups and/or GPS apps??)... 2. Put all your music on internal SD...
More details can be found in this OmniROM thread...

I have no idea, but it's pretty suspect (and extremely annoying) that every time I get caught behind with updates all of a sudden the phone starts having issues.

Then it is better to listen to your phone. Time for an update...

I don't know, standardized user experience?
I have no idea, but it's pretty suspect (and extremely annoying) that every time I get caught behind with updates all of a sudden the phone starts having issues.
Sometimes I just don't wanna flash every week.

The developers are giving us roms for free and they work a lot to develop these roms
If you follow the opening instructions you will not face a problem
and you should always make a backup before doing anything in case so you could restore what you had originally
if you decided to dirty install kitkat over jellybean or anything else you should know that this is your problem now
but posting here blaming the developers for your mistakes is not acceptable

Eh, I love flashing and trying the new builds, but sometimes I just don't have the time to deal with all the work I have to do after the full wipe, since I don't like using Titanium to restore (had issues with it in the past), so it would be nice if I could have kept the 4.3.3 ROM for a little more, since it was working pretty well, until this update hit and all of a sudden it started having issues, forcing me to wipe and update. :crying:

Introduction:
MoKee OpenSource is based on the Google AOSP. We update our source code frequently to keep up with the latest development, and not forgetting to merge in special features of our own at the same time.
A small group of people from around the world who are interested in Android launched this project on the 12th of December 2012, and is committed to make this ROM better and better. Like most contributors of open source projects (Omni, CyanogenMod, Slim AOSPA etc), we are doing all these in our free time as our passion...
Since this project is open source, anyone interested can participate in the development (maintain new devices, contribute code etc). Newcomers are always welcomed!

I'll give this ROM a whirl is good fun to try new ROMs in the early days and see them develop as time go's by, and will look forward to seeing you add PIE control when the time is right....
More than happy to do some testing for you I mite well find something that needs tweaking, as you don't own the device I hope my offer will be helpful to you
Lol...this ROM has been around for quite some time, but without a thread here...
Installed the ROM....looking nice so far :good:
Will give a detailed feedback in a day or two after using it
Seems very good with OTA updates... Downloading....
Yeah it's Tapatalk B****h
Is this ROM Art compatible? Also, are MoKee Gapps ART compatible?
Of course...
Unique Power Saver functions!
Which they are? Could I expect a better battery life as by other Roms?
Anyone a Screenshot of Battery Life?
Yes many many questions about Battery life its very important for me
When I moved from 4.2.2 to 4.3, I noticed extreme lag and stutter while browsing webpages and on apps like FB and Twitter. I was told that was because those ROMs were not built on Samsung's 4.3 core or something like that. Will I face the same problem with this ROM (or any other 4.4.2 ROM?).
I mostly interested in MoKee ROM, however. Looks the most 'sorted' of the lot!
Nice ROM. Will give feedback after 2 days of use

My review of the ROM
I wanted to try out KitKat ROM ever since CM11/Omni debuted on i9300. However when I looked at the threads, so many people were complaining about this or that not working, always had me changed my mind. No offense to hard working chefs of these ROM's obviously, I know there is development curve which aftermarket roms go through and normally also, these things don't bother me, however I've had kind of settled down with Ultima 15.1 sammy 4.1.2 based ROM which provides near AOSP like feel with a mix of samsung features, butter smooth performance and excellent battery life.
Anyway enough of background onto the review now, this is my first KitKat based ROM, which I'm trying out on my phone. I had installed the 01/26 nightly and I must say I'm impressed till now. The surprising lack of responses in this thread, kind of worked for the ROM for me as I didn't read any complaints for this ROM , hehe. The ROM is very fluid and haven't experienced any FCs/camera issues/any other issues so far. Bluetooth also works fine, however I did feel there is little reduction in range of BT headset, however not sure if its just a placebo, as I really had a bad time on CM10 roms.
Also I'm running ART which gives a warning that it is an experimental feature when enabled, but however it works quite well as already stated. Another feature which I really like was auto-brightness implementation and the already loaded profiles for it. They work very well and are quite customizable.
My biggest concern like the some above posters was battery , as I know performance is always great on non TW roms. I'll let the screenshots below do the talking.
I'm not a very heavy user of the phone, kind of medium light. My battery is samsung stock which came with the phone and is quite old now ~ about 1.5 years. Battery life is surely comparable to TW roms, if not better.
This is with I9300DDUGMK1 modem (which is baseband for India in ML4 ROM) and location off all the time (under GPS/network based/google apps). Normally NLP wakelocks are source of the biggest battery drain, so I had turned it off as precaution. Will benchmark with location on also in few days. Also this includes a idle period of around 8-9 hours (night time) when phone was not touched with WIFI off but mobile network/sync on (Whatsapp and Gmail).
Also I haven't restored any apps using titanium backup. I've heard in CM threads this can screw your battery life, especially whens apps restored are coming from Samsung ROM. Antutu scores look good too, although I'm not sure how other KK roms are fairing.
Thank you MoKee OS team and kudos to the Chef, for this nice ROM

Well the Chinese apps are targeted at the China users as the ROM was based in China, it's useful to them (think of MIUI, but has vanilla Android looks+open source+maintained by freelancers (MIUI is a company, we are not though, we do this for free))...
Testing this rom, very good one.
Can i use beoffla CM kernel with this rom?
Phone not going into deepsleep, so 3% battery drain per hour during night (idle)
I will look for some solutions

Edit... Also if this ROM is only 400 mb then why did you cross out the step to install gapps? This is rather confusing

Really liking it so far.
Couple of bugs here and there:
• if you enable keyboard open/close animations it seems a bit temperamental trying to get it to come up when you have it in horizontal mode.
• I noticed the default animation speed for list view is 0*15, at default you basically can't see it (18*15 feels about right)
• while multitasking I found the sound to skip a few times here and there as if the CPU is being held up somehow.
• pocket mode for lockscreen notifications also seems to be a bit temperamental but have done a reboot or two since then and seeing how it goes from then.
Loving the ROM so far, it's very smooth and has a nice array of features. Finding my phone is getting a little hot though and noticed in Trickster that thermal throttling is disabled...is it being handled by the kernel in another way?
OK.... While typing there... Another big sound hang :S

I think other devices are getting 1.3.2 so maybe we'll see that update here too soon.
Wow.... Impressive... I was skeptical at first but this rom is very responsive and has several mods to it. Thank you for this. I'm running PA gapps and ART
OK I think it's a CM11 bug but the sound/video freezes probably once every 30secs while watching YouTube. Less bad if listening to music or something but it still happens randomly nevertheless.

Thanks mate. Please update fix in OP too...
Nice timing as I was thinking of replacing phone app with Slim or AOSP ROMs.
BTW nice ROM so far been using it from last 24 hours. Let's see how battery life like as didn't had much from other AOSP ROMs...
VERY nice rom! Love all the extra features!
Only other bug i noticed other than the call log is that, when on the phone and you put it up to your ear, the screen goes black like normal but you can still press all the buttons with your face.

Giving this a test! Been a while since a new rom popped up.
hi i have s5 (g900f variant) and i'd like to have this rom on it. I've tried to flash it thru TWRP but it give me error that it can't mount /system. Anybody knows how could i flash it on my handset? I've been comparing both phones sprint and g900f versions and they are very similar. So don't know why can't i install carbon on it. I'm using roms from g900t thread without any problems.
best regards
kris
Iam running the other carbon ROM in this thread without issues, what or is there a difference in this ROM?

OK cool, going to have to test it out.
Its running amazing! I don't normally notice too much difference in battery life in between ROMs cuz I jump around so much being a flashaholic but this ROM I can actually notice a difference not just statistically...

In addition to that this is built with SaberMod tool-chain
So the performance should be better

This is meant for kltespr. The device related files would be different so you won't be able to run it on g900t

Loved the other Carbo.. but had to flash/restore back to MOAR. NO GPS kills it for me. Anyone tested GPS on this Carbon Saber rom??? LOVE me some Carbon.. just hate that GPS never seems to work on AOSP roms.

An hour and 15 mins of Screen on time with 70% left I love it!
Dumb question. Where do I change the font size in text message app ?
I've tested everything and GPS works good used it on Scout to get to my job and had no problems.
