A116 Charging issue - Micromax A116

For past few days, I'm facing this strange problem that the phone doesn't charge beyond a particular limit, and sometimes at all. When I plug in the charger, it displays 'Charging' but the battery level doesn't go up. I tried few things to understand where's the problem:
1.) I changed the charger and used the other ones (700mA, 500mA, USB charging with PC) and they worked well for a while, although slow charging, but afterwards the issue re-appeared and phone stopped charging even by them.
2.) I changed the battery, thinking it's a battery issue. The one that I got from a friend charged perfectly well with my own MMX charger for the first time, but now it's giving the same issue again and not charging beyond a particular level, say 40%, which will eventually come down and it won't charge at all.
I'm confused as what kind of problem it might be - hardware issue with the charging socket, charger/USB cable issue, or a firmware issue? Has anyone faced this problem till now wherein the their phone doesn't charge, even though it shows 'charging'? Please share what did you do to resolve it. I'm currently located at a remote place and cannot visit a service center.

how old is your device? if it's more than 9 months you might have to replace your battery. you could find it on ebay.

Strange Issue: Vibrant battery status is *discharging* while plugged into usb.

Hey guys,
I'm having an interesting issue here, basically I've noticed my vibrant isn't charging the phone battery,
instead it says "discharging" when plugging it in. When i go to the 'about phone - status area'.
When I unplug the charger it says "not charging" and when I plug it in it says Discharging.
Has anyone seen this behavior on their phones? I'm not sure if there is something wrong with my phone
or if Samsung tries to regulate the battery reconditioning it?.
I would like to avoid having to return my phone if this is some sort of strange issue with the vibrant.
I have had the vibrant for over a week now, have not done any changes to it other then simply rooting it,
no flashing done otherwise. I just happened to notice this tonight before going to bed.
Also note that I do not have wifi turned on, and I wasn't running anything at the time either that should be
draining it more then a charger should put out. I have also tried charging it using the charger that came with
the vibrant and a second charger I bought.
I have only seen one post related to this on Google.
http://forum.androidcentral.com/t-mobile-vibrant/33383-battery-discharging-error.html
Update: I can tell you that my % has gone down, from 30% to now 20%, still discharging..
Also Screen Brightness is set to lowest, WiFi Off, and not running any applications in the background,
on original vibrant rom.
Video Or it Didn't Happen, Posted.
Here I took a video of it too if for some reason you can't see what i'm saying, or think i'm crazy.
Weird Camera is angle is cause the phone number just happens to be right under the battery status.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nk_JHdlMVbg
what charger are you using? and do you have another that you can test? Also if you're charging VIA usb port on your laptop have you installed the samsung drivers, if not install the samsung USB drivers, if you have then try a different USB port.
its doubtful its the phone, far more likely the USB port, charger or cable
I have charged it with 3 different chargers, and cables from different computers and usb ports, as well as in wall charger,
the samsung usb drivers are installed and i'm able to access adb.
My computer also has 3 powered usb hubs.
The battery kept draining, till the phone shut off and restarted on its own
after receiving a charge from the charger, so i'm wondering if maybe some
other people might be able to notice this behavior at all.
When it restarted on its own it said it had 60% battery from 0% right before charging,
so I am wondering if perhaps some people's phones are doing this in the middle of the night.
After restarting the phone charges normally starting at a really high %.
Could this be caused by software problems on the phone.
that is crazy... you certainly have ruled out a charger problem.
Was this just a one time thing and after the restart it's charging normally?
if it's still acting up you could try flashing the original rom via odin or to be safe take it back and exchange it.
People might not be realizing theres a discharging problem
Yeah has only happened once that I've caught so far, so thats why i'm trying to raise a little bit of awareness,
seeing that other post on androidcentral it seems like some people got to be having this problem.
Maybe they just don't realize it. Its not something you'd notice plugging the phone in before bed.
For now it seems fine after a restart, its possible that its a problem that occurs after the phone has been on for so many hours,
and perhaps a memory leak occurs of some sort. It could even be Samsung's poor attempt trying to recondition the battery somehow.
I have had some odd occurrences where I have grabbed my phone off the charger first thing in the morning and found it around 30%. Rebooted it and it charged normally. I think this has happened twice now. I didnt notice anything while I had it plugged in so I can't say if it said discharging or not.
Maybe what you could do is go to the phone settings, scroll to the about section and check out the battery status next time that happens.
On the larger scale of things, this could be a fairly common issue that noone
is taking a look at.
It could be related to why some people are having very poor battery life
and why the battery meter can be really inaccurate.
If your phone discharges itself completely, reboots thinking its at 60% battery life,
I can see that causing many problems that you just wouldn't see since people
just plug their phone in and go to bed.
Bump cause I'm having the same issues. Was a solution ever found for this?
I had this problem before but it happened to me with an after market battery, once I changed batterys the problem went away. so basically your battery is bad..
Yes! I have this problem all the time. A restart will fix it but often I will plug it into a wall charger or car charger and my Battery Indicator Pro will say "failure". Battery life is also horrible.

This is caused by running 2.2.1 roms I think. Only got it once and was on such a rom. A restart will fix it. Its possible you didn't flash good as I have never gotten it since. Its a rom issue though.

Op was running stock rom.
You need to delete your battery stats, but to do this you need to be rooted.Looks like your phone is not charging at all .... plug the charger in and take out the battery and see if it starts charging.... hope this helps ....
this is happening to me, right now. i've had it happen once before, i shut down, pulled the battery, replaced it and booted. it charged fine afterwards. but i don't want that as an answer.
mine is at 84 hours uptime, i don't remember what it was last time i had this issue. whats weird is i was just charging at work not 30 minutes before i got home and plugged it in to charge. worked fine half an hour ago. but not now.
i've got a stock vibrant on 2.2. wonder what's causing this.
This happened to me and i could only get it to charge by rebooting it. I eventually had to replace my phone because it also was doing soft reboots too but discharging also.
I think I found a solution. Is anyone still having this issue tho? If so ill post it.

I have this problem and have been for a while. Will you post the solution please?
Thanks in advance.
here too... but with a htc wildfire (aka buzz)
it discharges while in charge
very strange!
I tried almost everything, also replaced battery with another one original of course... nothing changes, also replaced AC charger... nothing!! my mobile become a fix line
unluckily I don't have a rooted phone so it's not possible for me to recalibrate trough SW
ive had a battery issue similar to this. my battery never discharged while plugged in, but after flashing a 2.2.1 rom(bi-winning) and then installing "battery left" and reconditioning my battery, the "battery left" app had a roughly 18% difference in battery charged then the system...as the syatem read the battery as being lower then the app showed i had. it would shut off with "low battery" when the app said i had about18% left. after flashing again and reconditioning my battery again the problem went away...could be some software setting somewhere!

Battery weird - seems to be phone but no obvious hardware issue

I have a galaxy s2 and bought a new battery recently (samsung one) thinking it would solve an issue which I thought was my battery.
Its very hard to describe but will do my best (have checked other threads but nothing quite like this..):
The battery will always say charging when plugged in but will sometimes increase in charge and other times not. I can charge overnight sometimes and it will say charging 7% and in the morning be completely dead and will not even show the charging animation (I have fixed by using my girlfreinds phone to charge it a bit and then it will be fine for a bit).
I thought might be charger - but my girlfreinds s2 charges fine on it - her phone works fine on both batteries and charges both fine.
Seems to be something to do with my hardware and I thought it may be the charging port - but not sure as it does still say charging without having to wiggle or anything like that so that suggests not the port.
The other thing that suggests something other than the port is I have had a battery in my girlfriends phone with it on, then plug it in and it said charging 37%, take it out and put in my phone with it plugged in and turn the phone on and it will say charging 4%...
Does anyone have any ideas as to this? Any things to try?
Thanks heaps in advance!
Do a clean install of stock & test for a day or two, if you're already running stock skip straight to replacing the USB board/port. Given you've already replaced your battery, this is likely to be the cause of the issue. Search for KeithRoss39's guide in the General section; it's quick/easy/cheap (<AUD$10 for me) to do.

Fast Charging issue

I have noticed that fast Charging does not always happen even with the stock charger. However, if I reboot then fast charging kicks in. Is this a known issue?
No, I always have fast charging. Maybe you need to return your tab for warranty.

I have this problem as a result of getting something in the charging port, or inside the USBC cable itself. All resulting in a moisture detected error. Powering down the tablet, plugging it in and allowing the charge indicator to come on would resolve the issue, but every time I unplug the tablet I would get the error again. I followed instructions on XDA regarding USB C fast charging problems and it seemed to fix the error. I think there's still something in the cable itself because the whole problem has expressed twice now. But in the interim comma over a few days if I plug the charger in one way I would get a slow charge warning that I wasn't using the original charger. But it's the charger that came in the Box. If I unplugged it, turned the charger around and plugged it in the other way it would fast charge again. So I'm guessing there's some kind of material in the charger itself that I can't get to that's affecting how many contacts are being made. I'm still working to resolve the issue with the original charger, but I'm thinking about just getting another USB C cable. I need a longer one than ships with the tablet in the first place.
When I went to chat with customer service, they wanted me to send it in under warranty. But I really didn't want to do without the tablet for 2 weeks or more, so researching it online has solved the issue somewhat. I might take it in to a Samsung kiosk and just see if they'll try to fix it with air duster.

Battery Charging Issue Help

My redmi note 5 (ai version) appears to have a fault when charging which I am trying to figure out the issue behind. The phone is just over 12 months old. The charging indicator in the status bar goes between no charging, normal charging and fast charging mode whilst it is connect to the charger. The battery charge also appears to dissipate worse when the charger is connected. I have tried changing charger as well as cable but the same issue occurs. I have added a video of the issue whilst measuring the current to illustrate the issue I am having a little clearer.
Video of issue
The phone was initially factory reset but the issue persisted. I then replaced the old PCB charging board with a new one from eBay but still the same issue. The only thing that I can think the issue is related to now is the battery. Has anyone had any similar issues which could shed some light on this.
Yes im having same issue, tried all roms and everything. But charging keeps fluctuating because of that phone take 5-6hrs to get full charge.
Thanks for the reply.
Have you had any luck resolving the problem. I assume not. Have you tried getting in contact with Xiaomi at all ?

Battery Issue

Hello People,
I have started facing this weird problem with my Mi A3 yesterday that I only bought in June.
The problem is the phone does not charge. When connected the charger, it shows "Charging Slowly" and the battery percentage stays as it is. It has been plugged in for 8 hours now with no change in the battery percentage.
Ampere shows a charging current of 70mA while the same charger & cable on my wife's OnePlus shows 1800mA current. So it's not the charger! :crying:
I have tried a hard reset, I have tried 4 different charger & USB combinations, NOTHING WORKED.
Any help around this will be greatly appreciated!
I will be set back with 15K if I loose this phone
What about the charger in the box? Doesn't that work?
Sounds like a hardware problem to me. Try going to the customer care
Thank you for a quick response!
None of the chargers are working. I've tried stock, OnePlus Dash, Moto Turbo, Samsung, everything.
I guess, service center is the only thing that can help.
Update - Even when it is plugged in, it keeps discharging.:crying:
Sadly, service center is closed, I'm from Pune and the city is in a lockdown till tomorrow.
Update - After a lot of struggle to not to reset my phone and an extensive research, I have wiped my phone clean and viola!
The charging works, it still charges slowly, but that's not as slow it was earlier.
I remember it seeing on screen 8 days untill full charge!
Now it's 6 hours to full charge, even with a turbo charger, 15W.
I will keep digging and posting the updates here.
Thanks
Charging too slow... battery draining out fast
I am facing same issue with my mi A3 since yesterday. It is taking 8 hours for my phone to get fully charged also battery is draining out too fast. Seems like this issue arrived with July security update. Even I tried hard reset and several other chargers but issue still persists. Hope that Mi sends out bug fix soon.
Resolved!
I had to visit the service center within a month of purchase due to the above mentioned issues.
Apparently some electronic failure caused the connector to fail and stopped the phone getting charged up.
My device is under warranty and thanks to that, got the faulty parts replaced for free and within 2 hours.
Which hardware parts did they get to replace??, Also facing the same issue
