About LZ4 compression/decompression:
LZ4 is a very fast lossless compression algorithm, providing compression speed at 300 MB/s per core, scalable with multi-cores CPU. It also features an extremely fast decoder, with speed in GB/s per core, typically reaching RAM speed limits on multi-core systems.
ADVANTAGE OF LZ4 OVER SNAPPY = More BLAZING FAST speed with almost same marginal cpu usage for Zram

TY psndna88 I also was doing some testing and this will only work if your rom Doesn't have other Tweaks Like mean beans Reborn it will not work.
Because of the Scripts he has in the Init'd he has Changes that will freeze your phone.
But any Stock rom with and My Roms will work as well JellyWiz,JellyWiz X Both work great
I will add this to the post and a list of roms that are compatible. TY again for this great work !

Running nice on N3BULA

Try TWRP that's what I am on with no issues at all.

Flashed this using philz recovery, worked flawlessly. Was missing my sound mods from peanut butter jelly. Now I'm content.

Crap I'm running this on Meanbean Reborn and just saw your disclaimer. Everything seems ok though.
Sent from my SCH-I605

I tried it with n3bula and all seemed well at first then the phone froze and required battery pull. I restored a backup of Nephilim 4.5 and I will try with that and report back. Plus I also noticed with the default governor the cpu was pegged at 1200mhz and wouldn't scale.

FAQ:
GPU overclock reduces performance on my phone. Why? OR I'm getting low scores on benchmark? OR I get low fps? (Don't be dumb to ask this question again and again).
A: I really don't know the reason. But if it doesn't work for you, download this and flash it using CWM/TWRP without wipe.
What is a kernel? Why should I install it?
A: Click here to know the answer.
How to Change RAMDISK ?
A: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52449925&postcount=525
Will this work on all MT6589 Phones?
A: NO!
Is this kernel compatible with all ROMs?
A: Yes. But for ROMs not based on stock, (like MiUi and ColoOS) you have to replace ramdisk.
Will this work on other clones like MyPhone A919i, Wiko Cink 5, Fly IQ451 ?
A: YES. It will work
Is this kernel recommended for daily use?
A: Yes!
My phone lags a lot on V2.0. Why?
A:Because you are on 1.5GHz by default. Download Set CPU from playstore and set max frequency to 1.2GHz.
What are the best governor+io combinations?
A: Hotplug+cfq, Smartassv2+cfd, Sakuractive+cfq. You can try others and report!
How to use doubletap2wake and sweep2wake?
A: Download trickster mod app from playstore, Open "specific" tab in that app and enable s2w, d2w. Also tick on kernel settings to make your settings stay after a reboot. Also Refer this post : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51893190&postcount=420

About the zip, did the mt6628_fm_xx_xx.bin doesn't need to be into directory KashKernel_Alpha1.zip\system\etc\firmware\mt6628\ ?

It belongs to the firmware directory. I've added etc folder to fix Wifi and bluetooth.
I'm on stock 4.2 (P10) and clearly camera doesn't work for me.
Btw, it would be great if you people can fix camera by extracting necessary files from 4.1 because the camera works perfectly on 4.1. So, it means that it is not the problem with kernel.

Are you able to see which parts decreased in Antutu? Was it the CPU score? I know that if you use some of the other governors instead of hotplug, some of the cpu cores get turned off and you'll only have 1 or 2 active.

If you're talking about the alpha 2 then yes it will be laggy unless you change the governor.
And sorry bro, I have 30KB/s connection here so it is impossible to upload the full source, but I'll upload required changes.

Antutu score has gone down to around 10k, I think it is because of the unstable graphics. Thanks for informing me about the 5MP Camera, I will look into that in my next build.

Usage of some features
Dynamic management of dirty page writeback
What is does?
- Allows to dynamically manage the dirty page writebacks with two different intervals, one when the screen is on and another when the screen is off. By using a higher interval we have better performance and less battery consumption, with a very low risk of data loss.
Thanks to Christopher83 and kingBABAsula.
Usage-
To enable it:
Code:
echo 1 > /proc/sys/vm/dynamic_dirty_writeback
To disable it:
Code:
echo 0 > /proc/sys/vm/dynamic_dirty_writeback
To customize intervals (in centisecs):
Code:
echo xxxx > /proc/sys/vm/dirty_writeback_active_centisecs
echo xxxx > /proc/sys/vm/dirty_writeback_suspend_centisecs

Great work @Abhinav2! Just a quick suggestion. Maybe you could update the mali graphic driver and/or add OC feature to Cpu (and Gpu if you will)

I tried update mali drivers and gralloc to 6 may update but unfortunately it didn't passed kernel logo. I'll try to debug it but it can take time. Also DevSwift1 tried GPU OC but it had no effect on device.

the first custom kernel for kitkat, thanks AJ!
1. dual recovery seems cool, but imo there is no real benefit when both of them do effectively the same. Again, great job that you managed to include both, but to me it becomes just "bloat". no offence.
2. I'm not a fan of overclocking but there are uses for better CPU/GPU controls. I would love to underclock and undervolt them to squeeze a little more battery out of my phone. God, it seems lots of those kids here care about their "gaming performance" and their "lagfree" "smoothness", but I use my phone as a phone and I don't give a sh... about that if I can get a couple more hours of use.
What's your opinion on this? Do you think we will ever get this working here like all the others (looking at those qualcomms and snapdragons in the other forums)? I mean we got more manufacturer sources than most of them, right? Or does it come down to sacrificing a phone to find those precious values for the right voltages, ...? Please shed some light on this for me, I never read a real answer from any dev out there.
3. On 4.1.2 we had this phantom kernel with a lot more CPU frequency steps. Some governors worked definitely better when they can scale over more frequencies. Maybe you can implement that?

1. Got many PMs asking for dual recovery so included it. And it won't slow down the boot process or make it laggy. Why?
If you extract the ramdisk you'll see that init.sh script controls the booting just like in CM(new builds)/AOSX. What the help of this script, ramdisk and recoveries are separately extracted so it doesn't extract and ramdisk or ramdisk-recovery until and unless the particular key assigned to it is pressed.
2,3. Honestly, I never looked at oc/uc, as I don't like playing with my CPU clock at all. Though I can try to integrate it and can only give a proper answer after trying
Cheers,
AJ
OK guys. I did read about OC CPU and various methods for our devices and basically all the kernels which say having OC aren't properly adding it. What they actually did was just adding CPU frequency names in the table in drivers/cpufreq/dbx500-cpufreq.c. Also it is quite hard(and maybe risky) to OC our kernel since I can't find the OC threshold anywhere. So it'd be better not to bring OC to it.
And about triple recovery, I won't be bringing it in this or kumquat kernel. DooMLoRD said that he wanted to keep it exclusive to DooMKernel and TBH I agree with him. He did put a lot of efforts in it and I respect his decision.
Cheers,
AJ
thanks for the amazing work

Why is the file size so big?
It includes an uninstaller so also packs the stock boot image and corresponding modules. Plus the Aroma installer adds to the size. Essentially the actual kernel is only ~7.5 MB

How to use gesture wake?
The necessary toggles are located at /sys/android_touch
doubletap2wake > 1 to enable
> 0 to disable
orientation - This will allow you to set in which orientation Sweep2sleep must be enabled
> 0 for both
> 1 for portrait only
> 2 for landscape only
pwrkey_suspend - If set to 1, pressing power button to turn off screen disables s2w/dt2w and pressing the power button to turn on screen re-enables s2w/dt2w
> 0 to disable
> 1 to enable
shortsweep - Allows the Sweep gesture to be shorter.
> 0 to disable
> 1 to enable
sweep2wake > 1 to enable
> 0 to disable

Are you planning on releasing a version that doesn't use Aroma? I don't see the point in using this Aroma as it just adds an extra burden (and size!) on the user having to work their way through the install process - I simply want to click on the zip and it installs, job done.
Thanks anyway for the kernel as its always good to see new things being developed for the Flo.
Looks great, will defiantly give this a go and report back, thanks!
Edit: Installed with Mahdi ROM and its running beautifully, looking forward to further releases, thanks again.

The AROMA installer is a place holder. Additional configuration will be made available later. Also, it is easier to uninstall the kernel if necessary.

Why only 3.4.10 and not 3.4.9x?
The one thing I've always hated about Aroma is tweaking the settings after, always seems to be overwritten or just not sure what is being set.
Will give it a go.

Kernel 3.4.10 works best in my testing. Upwards introduce changes I am not very comfortable with as they tend to cause some battery drain. At the moment, I do not intend to go further than that.
The aroma will only be a helper of sorts. I will be releasing an app to help configure the kernel soon. Right now, the aroma installer just flashes the kernel. Everything else is default set in the kernel.

Sent from my Linaro SM'd CM11 Galaxy S3, with Archi's kernel. A proud Googy Beta tester.
Thoroughly tested, working great on Slimkat latest Weekly, and AOSPAL RC2 from The Android Dev forum...
Great Battery life and like its based on 3.4.10 seemingly dont see any battery decreasing issue...
Max 1.5Ghz lowest 384... Undervolt -75 CFQ 1792 ReadAhead.... (Y)
Can't seem to change the min CPU from 918. Getting around 2350 in benchmarks with stock settings, plus 1.7ghz high.
Sent from my Kang'd Nexus 8 (2014) using Franco kernel. My mobile is a Linaro & SM CM11 run Galaxy S3.
Could you possibly include faux sound control,, I know Franco's is in the kernel but could there be q choice between the two in aroma?
Faux is much better, that would be a great option.

Disable MPDecision boost. That will allow you to set a lower min. 918 is MHz is only for the boost period. It pulls it back at other times.

Sorry for the stupid questions but here we go:
Do I need to be rooted?
Do we still get Lineage OTA updates after flashing?
Do I need to re-flash after an update?
I try many roms and I had problems on all of them, some doesn't have VOLTE, all have bad audio and faulty fast charging.... going back to stock is too challenging for me...
and btw OEM usb cable is junk!!!
---------- Post added at 07:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:52 PM ----------
update: after flashing this Kernel on LOS I now got fast charging and the LTE signal is not dropping when placing a call!! awesome, I'm not rooted,
But please let me know if I still get LOS ota updates and if I need to reflash it every time, thank you very much!!
Please add Otg-Ntfs_rw ?
Also flashed it... Runs really good! Keep on going dev!
