How many G2's would have sold with the Nexus 5 Matte Back finish? - G2 General

Just thinking that the perfect phone would be the G2 with the matte finish. The front screen is already perfect but add the matte finish with the awesome back placement of the power button and volume keys and it would be amazing. I love my G2 but the back cover is a horrendous plastic finger print magnet. I cant imagine how many units LG would have sold if the the back cover was Matte finish like the Moto X or Nexus 5? Just dreaming...

Just purchase another back cover off eBay or so and sandpaper it (or use steel wool grade 0000). Check out the accessories forum, there's a thread there . Imo the matte finish is far more elegant.

Sure.. My point was they'd sell a random number, regardless of the N5's back.
I didn't even look at the back of the G2 when buying it, personally, as I always use a low profile TPU type case.

Of course I knew they were on the back, but after playing with Knock-On in the store I figured I could live it. Otherwise, it'd have been a no-sale.
I didn't pay attention to the back much otherwise, as it'd always be covered.

Who cares about the back most use a case if they're smart lol.

So just plasti dip it!

I like the look of it as it is, but a back with more grip would be more comfortable, at least in summer

It wouldn't have changed my decision but would have changed my decision to use a case

well then i think the people who care don't then even look for N5, Moto X, or G2 altogether. They buy iPhone 5S champagne or even Vertus. They're so stupid if they care of matte back covers

I believe most people were turned off by the rear button placement...not the glossy shiny back.

Few people are put off by so called 'bloat'. Very few really know what an unbloated phone looks like for 2 reasons. First the Nexus' sells in tiny numbers, and second the Nexus isnt bloat free anyway! The G2 is no more burdened with bloat than any other phone.
I dont have a problem with the G2s back. Sure its plastic, but its smart. The N5 might be soft touch, but it looks and feels hollow and cheap.

Thank you, I was about to say just this. The XDA echo chamber continues to rumble with the expectation that every user is a power user and that every customer roots their phone.
Plus, even with the stock ROM, the phone is a beast, I saw no lags in the 24h I used it stock.

I have a matte protector on the back of mine from BestSkinsEver. Problem solved.

Diztronic case I really like it but...

The lip all the way around isn't quite right. By this I mean stuff gets stuck in it and I have to remove it to clean the crevices.
Anyone have a better case than the Diztronic they recommend?

Trojan? But seriously, without that lint/crud catching lip around it, you'd scratch your screen when you set the phone face down. It's a trade off I'm willing to deal with, I suppose.

I love my cruzerlite with the android logo on the back. It's super svelt and you can see the notification light on the power button. I got the smokey gray one. Perfect fit, feels great, no problems in/out of pocket, good price ($15 range).

Thanks I'll take a look at the cruzerlite, I've been meaning to.
I've had my eye on the cruzerlite one too but I tried a cheapo hard case first (which is ok but I'm not in love with it). I will have to try it out based on your recommendation!
I have the red cruzerlite and really like it. Fits nice and tight all cutouts are good and line up nicely.

I've got both case and I find the Diztronic to fit much, much better and just is of much better quality. The Cruzerlite does fell much slimmer, though it seems to have a bit of sag on the top & bottom edges and the sides seem to give more if brushed against when swiping & such.

To anyone who wants to/hasn't ordered these Cruzerlite cases, Amazon has them as their on sale price ($12.90) in addition to buying 2 and getting 1 free with another addition of free shipping (5-8 business days though...).

I was so excited to get the clear one, but the damn thing leaves air pockets on the back and makes it look hideous instead of showing off its beauty, I was pretty disappointed with it ha
Its because of the case material and our phone being glass. Its just sticking is all. How often do you look at the back of your phone?

I got the diztronic just to hold me over until I found one I actually wanted but when I got it I realized I actually really like it. Fits like a glove and I can hardly tell its on from the front. Plus I like the soft tpu feel.
I just got my Diztronic in today, loving how slim it is, and I doubt the TPU will break in half on the weak part just from plugging/unplugging the charger like the surround case I had.
That said, I'm not looking forward to finding out what happens when my clumsy *** lets it slip out of my hands...

I have almost every color because I absolutely love the Cruzerlite cases & this way I can switch out to whatever color strikes me at the moment. I find the ribbing along the side to be a fantastic perk because this enables grasping the phone much easier plus the cases just look awesome.
Meant to add that I also have the Diztronic case & also like that one quite well.

Self Made Phone Cases

Hello people!
I was pretty frustrated with the fact that markets are only flooded with iPhone covers and devices like our L9 barely have any accessories available. I had a Galaxy Mini earlier and faced a similar challenge.
So I resorted to making covers myself!
You can check out the photos over here.
I could make a jacket type or a pouch type, with or without a stylus pocket, with or without camera and speaker slots. I could colour it the way you want and write whatever you want or leave it blank for you to do your own thing. The first few pictures show a one with a plastic pocket on the back to slide in a paper. The photograph in that model can be removed and replaced.
The main ingredient to the covers is newspaper. (Reuse!!)
The covers are decently tough even though they are made from newspapers. They have a layering of cardboard to give them extra strength and fevicol too gives them a lot of strength. The top covering is with a mixture of fevicol and water applied on tissue paper which also strengthens the whole thing.
I paint using acrylic colours because of two reasons--1) They are waterproof. They wont let the phone get wet unless you drench the whole thing. 2) That is what I have at home and I am too lazy to go to the market.
If somebody is interested in buying one, you could Email me at [email protected]
I only have the following phones and can only make covers for these.
Samsung Galaxy Mini
BlackBerry Curve 8900
LG Optimus L9
iPhone 5
P.S. Yes, its DBatraOriginals.
Putting #swag at the end discredited your whole post.

Buddy it s awful

Thing is there is actually a decent selection of cases for the L9 on eBay, you just have to do a little digging. Hell there are Nilkin cases for less than $10 and brand new from various eBay retailers (I ordered one myself last week). Or you can get the S-line cases for less than $4. All of them come with free shipping.
Just search "optimus l9 cases" and you get a lot of results. The main problem is that there aren't enough cases and acessories in local phone shops but it's much cheaper to get it online anyway. I'm never going to buy cases or screen protectors from regular stores again (i've wasted too much money unnecessarily), i'm sticking to online lol.

Camera lens is supposed to be scratch resistant sapphire. check out this video

Even with a brand new phone, i noticed tiny scratches ( you have to use a magnifying glass or slowly rotate it in the right light to see)
and phone has been no where near the insides of any pocket or un raised over any surface with my case. it hasn't seen a single touch or wipe.
some have called them surface stress scratches due to manufacturing.

anyone else?
Funny you mention it, my buddies camera was terrible, looked foggy and blurry...his lens is scratched really really badly. My camera works great, but when I looked it was also really badly scratched, we both use the same case too. It sucks that it picks up scratches so easily.

Don't think pictures are properly focused because of it.

I second this, the fit is anything but good. There are rather large gaps around the screen which defeats the purpose of having a screen protector.
It has poor fitting(large gaps on the side). Pretty thick compare to other protectors. Are you sure you got the temper glass protector? I find it hard to believe you got it for $1. I paid $6 and it's a waste.
I paid $16 for a flexible glass protector by iloome. Now that's worth the money. Great fit.
I have 0 gaps on mine, I think it's user error. If fits perfectly & I even have a case on mine. I purchased 10 of these for 10 different devices & good investment.

I have the spartan glass on the galaxy s5, and by far its the best one I've tried! I was planning to buy the same for the G3 but they are out of stock and then I see the negative reviews!
More to the point, the video actually shows the flaw everyone is talking about: Even though you have pushed the glass further from one side, the other side, still has a small gap! even ignoring that, the fact that you have left space on one side but the other side hasn't gone off the screen means the fit is not perfect. Don't get me wrong, it's still a great value but I can see where the complains are coming from.
Thank man for the video review nonetheless.

I saw no issues with it & fits fine for me. But if worse comes to worse, I'll just contact them & get it replaced. Their CS is AMAZING!
The edges of the screen protector don't go over because the gap is very minimal when I attached it, if I would have removed it & put it on again I'm sure it would have fit fine.
I'm just glad you don't even notice it with a case on it & it doesn't lift at all.

I don't know where all these rave reviews are coming from, maybe I got a bad unit from XtremeGuard. The glass protector is very thick, it feels sticky to the touch, it doesn't line up well and there's no cut out for the camera. If I hadn't ordered it a month ago for 90% off I would have sent it back. Now it will just sit collecting dust.

It can't be user error because if there are gaps its a manufacturing error not a user one. A user can't make the protector smaller.

Exactly. If you have room to push the screen protector over and it leaves a gap on one side then it doesn't fit.
All the protectors I've had that have the "gap" makes them case friendly. I prefer that myself, but to each their own I guess.

Cruzerlite Bugdroid case

I've had this case on my GNex, my G2, and now my G3. Always great quality and feel for the case. I usually get black but this time I got red. Normally I give this case a perfect score but I'm not liking the company logo in the center of the Android this time. I have this case and the Spigen slim armor and recommend both. This TPU case feels thinner obviously.
I feel the same way about the logo. I hope this phone becomes popular enough for them to male a few different styles. Cruzerlite has always been top notch in quality and customer service for me.

I really like these cases (I've had one on my Nexus 7 2013 for almost a year now), however, I've noticed as you mentioned the TPU is very thin. The case is great, but it has become stretched out in one corner over time and now it just looks a little weird, even though its not extremely noticeable unless you are holding the device. Are any of these issues still present in the newer ones? I was thinking about picking one up for my G3, but I don't want to to get stretched out and look bad or cause damage to the phone if it comes off during a drop.
I've never had that problem with any of the cases I've owned. Might be a tablet case problem. These cases have been solid for me.

I was considering this since the reviews say that it's still pretty slim while also providing decent protection. My question, though, is what is the texture of the case? Does it feel grippy?
I want a case that has some kind of traction in my hands so that it feels secure without me having to always feel like I should have an iron grip on it.
I have a Ghostek hard case which does offer a bit more trip than the stock back of the phone, but honestly not by much. I want something that will stay in my hands.

It has a smooth feel but not too slick. It doesn't feel sticky link the cases they had at the Verizon store. I wouldn't call the best grip but it's worked for me so far. My old Cruzerlite case on my GNex had ridges on the side that gave a better grip. The G3 model does not.
For $10 on Amazon, I think it's worth a go if to aren't looking for something that feels tacky.
It's a soft rubber feel to it. Not slippery. Best way to describe it is a "matte" feel to it. I like it.

Do you happen to have experience with a Nexus 5 to compare?

If I remember correctly it was the same material they used on the LG Dare for the back. Yes very similar to that rubberized plastic.

I have to agree about the company logo in the middle of the Android mascot. I used this case on the Nexus 5 and now on the G3 and I love it. Great drop protection and a nice non-slip rubbery feel

I think you'll be very happy with this case
Thanks, everyone. I had my girlfriend order it for me. I should have it by Saturday so we'll see how I like it.

I ordered one of these today also, I had one on my s3 and I liked that it had ridges on the sides to give u better grip. Hopefully this will work for me, I like that it is clear and will show off the design of this phone. This is the first phone I've ever owned that I feel like I can use it without a case because of the feel of it. Better b safe then sorry though.

I had 3 of these for my Galaxy s 3. I love them. I'll definitely be ordering a few for my G3 soon.
Just got my white one in for my white g3. Feels awesome! Everyone that ordered theirs in this thread should be excited! Thanks for the recommendation OP!

Any pictures? I'm thinking picking s couple of these up because the Android logo is the best part.

Does the case have room for a glass screen protector?

No I have a Spigen tempered glass one so its slightly thicker than a normal one. Its .23mm thick so I wasn't sure if it would distort the case or not.
