Flashing Lumia 820 to Lumia 1020 - Windows Phone 7

Is there a way to flash Lumia 820 to get the exact firmware that Lumia 1020 have?
What I really want is to have RAW format for pictures on my Lumia 820 and to have 3 columns for live tiles on start screen.

I am just asking if this is possible. I saw that there is a people who are hacking the WP and I was wondering if they have discover that.
What I really most care about is RAW format for pictures. That is all.

1. Is there a way to flash Lumia 820 to get the exact firmware that Lumia 1020 have?

Normally, if I'm not mistaken, DNG (RAW) is is compatible with PureView.
3. And to have 3 columns for live tiles on start screen?
Even the Nokia Lumia 1020 does not have the three columns...

2. If I am not mistaking, RAW format is only available for L1020 and L1520. At least WP Central is saying that. So, it must be about firmware. I remember that Nokia Camera was not available for non PureView models like my L820 (until about month ago), and I could get it with correct proxy. I had all the features from that application, but I could only get maximum of ISO800 which is how much ISO my camera can take in the real. There must be some workaround to get RAW format on L820. That feature is not based on specific camera hardware.
3. Isn't? Maybe I am mistaking, but I am quite sure that WP Central have stated that L1020 would get 3 columns for live tiles. In practical, that does not matter to me. What I only care about is to get RAW format when I take pictures.

Never in a month of Sundays will you be able to retrofit RAW image processing.
It's a dual function of the camera sensor & software.
Nokia are not about to shoot themselves in the foot with allowing mix and match camera facilities devaluing their flagship phones.
It begs the question why with an 8MP capture you'd actually want RAW file format ?
My Samsung S2 has an 8MP capture. RAW would be rubbish.
Save your money - go out and buy a Sony DSC RX1.

Camera fixes in Tango?

In the changelog, it says there are camera fixes in tow...has anyone tested out the camera to see if the whitebalancing and low-light picture quality has improved at all? I have a lumia 900...but hopefully we get the same camera fix you guys are getting!

Where did you read that changelog?
Tango update brings these features/fixes:
Update 7.10.8773.98
Messaging. Adds new messaging capabilities to your phone. You can now attach multiple pictures, videos, audio notes, and ringtones to text messages.
SIM card. Adds features related to SIM card contacts. You can now export phone contacts to a SIM card and selectively import SIM card contacts to your phone.
Other quality improvements. Includes many other improvements to Windows Phone.

So I have to say that I bought an n9 a few weeks ago, cuz I needed tethering ASAP. Even with the Tango update, the Lumia 800 camera is sooooo underwhelming compared to n9.
On continuous shutter, the Lumia 800 has 2-3 sec between shots. The n9 sounds like a pro camera click click click.
Of course, there are trade offs between the two. I just want to put my 800 and n9 face to face, make them kiss, and then squish them together into the perfect unit.
I think I might have seen it on the changelog for the Nokia update post-tango, but maybe not, why can't they make it as good as the N9!!

Partly because the n9 has a different lens structure with a wider aperture. It can take a much faster photo cuz it lets in so much more light.

[Q] Lumia 920 - SECURITY

How secure is the Nokia Lumia 920 / Windows Phone 8 OS, compared to other devices like iPhone and Android ?
Does the Lumia 920 have hardware encryption built in like the iPhone ?
An article below makes out the iPhone to be a very secure device. How does the Lumia 920 compare ?
I am not able to post outside links yet, so can you please google for "DOJ: iPhones 'too secure'; A key moment for the enterprise"
zdnet.com/doj-iphones-too-secure-a-key-moment-for-the-enterprise-7000002548/
Thanks
I'm guessing that you missed out on all the news before about iOS's security issues. The most recent issue was about the fact that Siri cold be activated when the phone is locked and will run what ever commands were sent... Without having to unlock. Generally, someone cold just take your phone, ask Siri for the contac list and they'd have instant access. Not sure if it's fixed. But for WinPhones, they are using secure microSDs. They won't work in normal readers and there's no way of unpartitioning it and repartitioning. At least none of my attempts were successful.

[Q] WP8 Custom Rom for Lumia 800?

Hi,
i am interested in buying an Lumia 800 but i do not have any knowledge or experience with windows phone. I just want to try this system and the Nokia devices have a very good navigation software and a good camera. How big is the chance that a WP8 Rom will come to the Lumia 800?
Normally i use a Galaxy S3 and just want to buy a second device to play around and test somthing new. So please excuse my noob question. The L800 will cost around 200€ without a contract and i think its a nice alternative to my Samsung.
thanks a lot
lumia
its not going to happen the most you will get is wp 7.8 only the new line of lumias will have w8
if i were you buy the 820 or 920
rob:good:
I would like to buy them but they are too expensive just for testing and playing around. Is it impossible because of the hardware specifications or that there will be no WP8 Source Code available which can be customized with drivers etc. ?
Not possible mate..though u can have a word around here..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1966327
with the devs
Hi,
Even if someone ports a WP8 for a current WP7 device he/she would have to disable all the specific WP8 functionalities which requires higher hardware specification (Dual core CPU and all) so it would be kind of a 7.8 with very marginal improvements.
So I dont think there would be much of a gain in trying to port in WP8 to 800
just my 2 cents and I can be completely wrong
Hee!,
I am an engeneering student and I do not think it is already fair to say porting WP8 will be posible, or not. It is true that the hardware of our current Windows Phone device doesnt reach the Microsoft hardware minimum for windows 8 device. Although this is their minimum, wich not only concludes the ´needings of the system´ but also ´marketings minimums´, for example: who would upgrade to a WP8 device if it is slower?
So not having the minimum hardware requirment doesnt really mean it is imposible to run WP8. Although it requirs a lot of porting and I am not sure if somebody will succees doing it.
Also one last point to mention, as you can find on the forum you can not update all Lumia 800 devices, depends on your bootloader, wich you cant know when you buy it on Ebay.
Does anybody know when Lumia 800 will get an official WP7.8 update? And will it be available in Europe?
they say , in the mittle of December...

Lumia phones are mostly phones as some testing tweaking devices. So i'm wondering, what you expect, as long as 800 is flashable only with qualcomm bootloader. New ones have only Dload, which is not hacked yet. Lumias are not like androids - completly different ROMs, patches, flashable apps,... Lumias are great, fast, reliable phones. Not for messing around.
i think you will try lumia920 or lumia820/822,lumia800 only have wp7.8

potential idea for wp8 on lumia 800

I'm a former android developer away from XDA, and recently switched to WP7.5 (now WP7.8) on the lumia 800. I've looked around, and the biggest difference between WP8 and WP7.5 phones seems to be the processors...
I've done a quick comparrison and the closest match seems to be the Lumia 820 (correct me if i'm wrong) now here's the question: can the lumia 820 rom be downloaded in such a way that it can be edited freely like the android rom, if so, i'm happy to play with it to see if i can get it working. but i don't want to lash out a couple of ton on a phone if it's not going to even let me grab the rom.

[Q] Touchscreen responsiveness delay?

Hi all, is anyone experiencing this issue with your 920?
To reproduce:
- Power off
- Press power button and immediately swipe up to unlock
Will it unlock after the immediate initial swipe?
Which ROM/Carrier/Country model you have?
Thanks
UPDATE
After personally testing on several phones/brands, can confirm this is not a Nokia specific issue, it's a general issue with Windows Phone 8 (or at least most ROMs).
Phones tested and having this issue:
- Nokia Lumia 920
- Nokia Lumia 820
- Samsung Ativ
- HTC 8x
(all of them have Windows Phone 8)
Phones tested and not having the issue:
- Nokia Lumia 800
- Nokia Lumia 710
- Nokia Lumia 505
- Samsung Focus S
(all of them have Windows Phone 7.5)
This might not be relevant, but also tested on a Galaxy S3 (has the issue) and iPhone 5 (does not have the issue).
So since this is Windows Phone 8 related, I have created a Uservoice topic, please contribute voting so MS can resolve this soon:

Firmware - 1232.2109.1242.1013

Stop focusing on the details of life
bro... I tried it on my 920 too, it has the same problem. The problem is that the lockscreen doesn't appear right away after u press the button. If u wait for it to appear and then swipe, then u wont have a problem. I don't think it'll ever get fixed, prob has sth to do with the WP8 architecture itself. Don't focus on those problems, makes u paranoid. when I first got my 920, I always focus on the little things like how the top is not tight so u could press it down, and how the dust gets into the FFC. after a while I came up with the epiphany that no phone is perfect, u just gotta enjoy it and ignore the minor details. I can c that ur a huge wp fan cuz u got the 800. 920 is a big leap from 800, so y not enjoy ur time using it?
hope this helps u

True no phone is perfect but I was kind of used to the 800 responsiveness (and other WPs, different brands), now every time I grab the 920 I feel I have a heavy and laggard thing in my hand, its kind of not letting me be fast and agile with it...
Of course its a powerful beast, just would love to have that thing resolved.
