[Q] Prestige 7G.....HELP PLEASE! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wasn't sure where to post this, so I just posted it here. I have a Visual Land Prestige 7G (not 7L or 7) with android 4.1.1. I have tried EVERYTHING to root this device, but no dice. It is for my daughter, and came with LOADS of bloatware that she not only does not need, but is taking up a huge amount of space, and making the tablet run like cold molasses. I would just build a custom ROM for this thing if I knew anything about doing so. If anyone could help me get rid of this stuff, I would be immensely grateful as I have been fighting with it for days now! This is the first time I have run across a device that I can't figure out. I can usually fix things myself, or at the very least find info to guide me through the parts I did not know. I feel so defeated! lol! PLEASE someone help!

Hi,
Do you have Play store on your device? If so please search for and install SRT Appscanner and tell me if it shows any bugs listed as not fixed or vulnerable at top of your screen.

Have you tried Impactor? If not, try following the directions below. The guide was written for the Sero 7 Lt but Impactor works on many different devices, just skip the first part of the guide about accepting updates as that applies to the Sero 7 LT. If you need help installing ADB drivers use the program I suggest in the guide.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45543527
Hope this helps!
*EDIT* i see in one of your previous posts that someone already suggested Impactor but it looks like you may not have ADB drivers working properly if Impactor cant see the device. Does it show any info if you open a command prompt and type "adb devices"?

THANK YOU!!

I already had impactor downloaded so I just needed to download snappea. It turns out it was ADB. I assumed it was working properly because it would show up in device manger as android adb interface. I sure wish I had asked you three days ago! Lol! Can't thank you enough ^_^

Ok so I installed root checker, and it says I'm rooted. I have installed superuser, and App Master. However, I still cannot delete any apps like pre installed angry birds thats taking up 60mb on the internal memory. App Master (and also tried my already installed All in One Toolbox) goes through the motions, and says successfully uninstalled, but is only uninstalling the updates. I thought maybe it was a problem with the superuser app I had installed (by ChainsDD) so I downloaded the one from ClockworkMod. When I open that one I get the message "Binary must be updated". When I click install I get "There was an error installing superuser. Please send a log of the error to the developer"

Ummm.....
Nevermind. i think I fixed it. Not entirely sure what i did, but I know I had to redo the impactor. the SRT appscanner was stopping the payload. It was saying it was malicious. Super user installed after that, and it says it's uninstalling facebook now. I guess I'll see how this goes.

Ok scratch that. I am rooted, but still cannot delete bloatware! I have tried 4 uninstallers, all with the same results. Well, actually one says I need to be rooted. I downloaded two root checkers, and both say I AM rooted. Gggrrrrrrr....
Edit: Also tried delting from snap pea. It says "failed to uninstall app. Please grant SnapPea root privileges and try again" I granted SU, but still says the same thing :/

Try using titanium back up to uninstall apps, let me know if it works. I always use SuperSU app since Impactor installs SuperSU binary into phone.

Tried titanium last night with no luck. even tried es file explorer, but tablet wont switch to rw. tried to install supersu just now, but it says installation failed. tried uninstalling the other su app and then install supersu, but no luck. seriously contemplating how far this thing would travel if i threw it out the window! lol
Further, I have also tried the basic r/w command in the terminal, (mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3) but since Im not very familiar with it, I wasn't sure what else to do. I could be wrong, but Im assuming my problem is the read only file system.

Man your lucky to get that far...rooted with impactor and downloaded and installed supersu and it is stuck updating the binary..for about 20 mins it's been saying.. "installing...please wait"

Have you guys been able to flash a recovery image (TWRP or ClockworkMod)??? And if so..have you tried to flash Superuser via recovery??? I have a friend who has the same tablet and he wants me to root/unlock his device...

[Q] Root for Huawei G525

Just got my G525, and i must say its really nice!
While i was browsing the default apps i noticed a Chinese SU app that couldn't understand.. so i deleted it and install Koush SU... but for my bad luck ( i guessed that if it already had a SU app that it would be rooted) sadly it isn't Root.
Anyone have any ideas how to root the G525?
Thanx in advance

Did it work?
I am very new to this and in the past my older brother was taking care of all my "technology problems" . I just bought one for myself, since I have just lost my old huawei..... I am currently still in china, but planning to go back to germany. I really want to get my google account restored/google market. I read a lot of threads regarding this topic, but still want to clarify some questions. I would rly appreciate ur help/input.
I know that in order to get google market running on the huawei g525, u will need to root the phone. Once it is rooted u will need to find a english/german android version ROM for the phone. There seems to be some talking about entering the recovery mode somehow (i dont rly understand this step). After the ROM is on the phone, u can download google market and access ur google account?
Here goes my questions :
1.) How to root my phone? Special program needed or pressing three key combo (volume + power + call)?
2.) Where to find a english/german android version ROM? On the website of Huawei? How to install it?
3.) Further steps?
Apparently there is another way to this all, by using a SD card and some kind of recovery zip:
Last option that i read was after rooting ur phone and installing 2-3 apk files.:
These are the steps:
1.Make sure your phone rooted and the R.E Explore been installed
2.Make sure you have GoogleLoginservice.apk and GoogleserviceFramework.apk
3.Copy the 2 apk(GLoginservice and GserviceFrame) into your SD card.
4.Open RE.Explore and find the 2 apk(GoogleLoginservice.apk and GoogleserviceFramework.apk), Copy them.
5.Paste them into System/App.
6.Restart your Phone.
7.You can login gmail/gtalk/Google play with your Google account now!
Thanks in advance for the help and sorry for the long thread !

There is one, it's really easy...
1) Install ADB Drivers and enable developer mode (google for that)
2) Download 'Impactor' from http://www.cydiaimpactor.com/
3) Open the app, you will see '# drop SuperSU su to /system/xbin/su'
3) Click 'Start'
4) It will check for exploits, if it's successful; continue, otherwise stop here
5) Install 'Superuser' from the PlayStore
6) Click 'tap to check for updates' and update
7) There will be a request for superuser access, accept it
8) Rooted!
Greetings
PS Just did this, it worked very well!

Huawei G525 stock rom with internal storage (/system) problems!
Hello all,
Huawei G525 owners, could you please verify original stock ROM () with error in /system partition?
Specifically I have in the local storage a folder named e2fsck_log which in every reboot fills up with error files regarding:
/dev/block/mmcblk0p17: Inode 14881 has imagic flag set.
/dev/block/mmcblk0p17: UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY. (i.e., without -a or -p options)
I have no idea if I can ran e2fsck because with adb I only get a $ shell (not root), and if I don't want to root the phone.
Does anybody else has the same problem? Please check if you have e2fsck folder with contents in Local Storage and confirm (that might be a stock rom Bug or something else - internal memory block problem!)...
Thanks

@theoxarhs .... I have the same problem, if it's really a problem. It's on the same inode and it's from before rooting the phone. Someone who knows better, please tell us...
Kingo Android ROOT is better than VROOT because it's in ENGLISH. Even there is one VROOT english version, you will end up with chinese on your phone. nusigalaxy, thanks for the info.

[Q] Daxian TD888 MTK6589 ROM help?

I'm in need of some kinda urgent help and advice regarding a phone i have just purchased for my mother.
I've bought her a cheap Daxian TD888 on the MTK6589 chipset and i'm afraid i have been a silly boy and not done my research before purchasing - I was under the impression that it came with the Play Store installed etc and sadly, it comes with a hard to use chinese ROM.
Mothers being mothers, mine isn't anywhere near tech/phone friendly and this is her first smartphone (upgrade from a 6 year old Nokia/symbian brick) so i was wanting to get her onto a nice and simple stock android 4.1 or 4.2 or even a CMxx that i can just help her along with.
After some very panic based searching today, i'm not seeing much that can help me... infact... nothing regarding this phone at all.
So... have I been a dumbass and bought her a lemon or is there anyone that can help me out with advice or pointers on how to get a normal android ROM on this thing?
I'm not massively experienced with rooting but have managed it a couple fo times in the past on my old Nexus One.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I could probably help you get it rooted and that would allow you to install Play store on it as well as delete any chinese apps that sometimes come on the MT65XX devices if interested. As far as the rom goes, is there not an option in settings to change language to English? I have bought a few MediaTek devices directly from china, when I received the phone it had english on it already but when I reset the phones I would have to go into Settings and change chinese language back to english.
Motochopper should root your phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252248
One thing with these phones is that the android version is not always what is shown in Settings > About phone. Try using this tool from the first post of this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2160490&styleid=18
make sure you enable USB debugging on your phone first and it will help tell which version of android you are really running. If kernel say 2.6.xx you are on GB 2.3, if it is 3.0.xx then you are on ICS and if it says 3.4.xx then you are JB. I bought a MT6575 that said android version 4.0 in settings, it said gingerbread 2.2 on the box (I know 2.2 is Froyo), then on bottom of box it said Froyo 2.2!
Thanks Klown80 -
I'm just into work now so I'll have to hook it up to my own PC and root when i get home later... i'm just in full on panic mode over this (its a time sensitive issue as she's due to be in hospital for an extended period and i want to get this right for her before then)
Regarding the language settings in the current/stock rom, it has english US selected and while a lot of the language is in english, pretty much ALL popup dialogs are in chinese and the browser is unusable (all chinese text based) so... hence the panic.
I was (foolishly) thinking it would just be a simple enough flash to CM or stock android and hey presto - full english ROM.
I hate it when i don't do my homework first.
So... you recommend the root first, check exact android version number and go from there?
Even if it turns out to be an older 2.1/2.2/whatever version, i'd be happy enough to get something stock and full english based on there if its possible.
As she's never had a smart phone, it will all seem super smooth and flashy to her anyway.
I have now rooted (i think..) however, the superuser app comes up with an error upon opening -
superuser binary (su) must be updated
and i now i'm kinda stuck.
I have downloaded and tired various versions of the play store and while the at first allow me to enter google accounts details, it always crashes after that.
Every time i open the play store app, it just closes again.
Any suggestions on where i might be going wrong?

Sounds like you need to update the binary then, if it allows you. If not then the root did not correctly root your device and we will have to go back a step and get that fixed first. As for Play Store, it usually takes more than just the Play.apk file to put Play Store on your device if it did not come with it stock. You also need (I am going off top of my head, I can give you exact names later) Google services framework.apk, Google login services.apk, Google Play services.apk. You need to have root to to this because you will need to move the vending.apk to /system folder and possibly change permissions on the apk before you install it. Once we can confirm root I can help you install a working Play Store if you like.

I've no idea how to update the binary so I guess i'm looking at a re-root.
I have had the usual issues of drivers not wanting to work (the Motochopper root process getting stuck at the daemon starting point) but I've manged to get the process to work twice so far.
(I've tried 4 different driver packages and they have all given the same results)
Could you possibly advise on how to update the binary file for superuser? I've just tried the root again and it skipped installing superuser as it was already found on the phone.. i haven't felt this noobllike in some time!

Try uninstalliong Superuser or SuperSU and try again. Su binary should ask you if you want to update when you first open SuperSU, if you have Superuser, then you will need to open the app and go into settings to update binary.

Ok, is it just Superuser and not SuperSU correct? Can you go into settings in Superuser and towards the bottom there should be an option to update su binary. If it is SuperSU it will ask to update on its own when you open it. either way make sure it lets you update binary. Once binary is updated download and install any app that asks for root acces, so we can see if superuser request pops up.
Once we have confirmed root we can move onto installing Play Store. To do this you will need to be able to install a file explorer like ES file explorer so we can install the files we need for working Play Store.

In the superuser settings, there isn't anything apparent for trying to update the su binary.
the list reads as follows:

HUGE thanks to Klown80 for the advice and patience!
For anyone else in a similar situation with an MTK6589 cheapo phone, and had issues with the Motochopper root method (the root getting stuck at 'daemon started successfully' etc etc.....
Klown80's chinese root tool works a treat. You will have a chinese superuser app that may be a little annoying (you might be able to swap it for SuperSU or something but I had issues doing that so i've kept the chinese one) but the root works perfectly and the instructions given by Klown80 in the linked thread are very easy to follow.
I still had some issues with getting google services installed so you may want to look for a play store installer workaround - I know there is a cheeky little chinese mod apk that can be used to get the play store working, but i can't post it here.
Should anyone come across this thread and know of a good, stock english rom that I might be able to use, please leave a comment!

[Q] *sigh* Root frustration...HELP

I bought my daughter a Visual Land Prestige 7g. There is a crap ton of stuff on it that a 7 year old just does not need, so I decided to root it...or so I thought. I don't know what else to do. I have tried the simple root tools. I have downloaded and installed adb, and sdk, Nothing I try has worked. I am not a tech whiz, but I'm not a complete moron either. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated because I HATE to be defeated! Lol! Oh, I'm running windows 8 x64 in case that is relevant.
Also, I would like to add that
This tablet IS equipped with google. It has gmail, and google play store stock. Everything runs off of your gmail account that you enter when you first set it up. It is the 7G, not the 7L, or 7D which do not have google. Not sure if it makes a difference, or not.
Try Cydia ImpacTor

I tried quoting you on the last one, but it wouldn't let me because your quote contained an external link, and I haven't posted here enough to post external links Anyway, I have cyndia installed, but it says "no device found". I noticed that the tablet shows up in device manager, but not in the This PC (my computer) folder. Any idea why that would be? It shows up in device manager as Android > Android ADB Interface.

Someone else suggested to use the impactor, but said to use snappea first since it will install the needed drivers automatically. I did that and it worked. I am rooted. However, I still can't uninstall any of the bloatware. I have tried 3 uninstallers, and they all go through the motions and say the apps were deleted, but they are not. Superuser is granting access to them, so I don't know what the deal is now.
Try Root Checker

Ive tried two root checkers and both say im rooted. ive tried two su apps thinking maybe one wasnt functioning properly, but no change. I also tried es file explorer but it wont switch to rw. Just tried busybox, and I dont recognize any of the "applets" it is showing, plus its showing them all as "applet is currently not symlinked/installed. info about this applet could not be found". All these apps are doing is uninstalling the updates.

[Q] Superuser Problems Help!

Hey, Ok so i updated my Huawei u8650 to android 4.4.2 and something went wrong with my root. I can open superuser and it shows my binary and all that and it says im rooted but when i go to a app that requires root access like terminal emulator for example and i type in the command su. nothing happens it just goes to the next line. and i tried to mount my SD card partition in link2sd and it said that the script cant be created because its not allowed to su.
I thought it could be that superuser just wasn't allowing permissions but i open superuser and there's no apps, no logs or anything. I checked my settings and they're all fine and i even tried to use SuperSU instead and i still got the same thing. There's no prompt to allow access either. I don't know if the apps are just not trying to get root access or what? No app can get root permission and i need to get this fixed so i can fix some bugs on the rom. Please Help.
Thanks to all who attempt or do help. Ill be sure to hit thanks for u.

i rooted by SRSroot first then first got the error then i unrooted and re-rooted by using the kingo root method but still received the same error. they are both windows programs u can run for root on multiple devices. They use USB debugging to root then device reboots and bam your rooted.
i used those methods because i tried to just flash the binary files through cwm recovery and it never actually installed into system. The two methods above installed binary and rooted my device but i cant give root access to any apps including superuser or supersu.
If anyone can help me with this it would be appreciated because i hit a wall and don't know what to do. No apps can get root permissions and i cant fix my play store, WiFi, speakers or theme chooser until the root is properly working because the methods to fix those bugs need root to function. so please if anyone has knowledge or any idea why i have root but cant get access please help me out.

If there is a custom recovery available for your device I would recommend flashing that and then flashing the latest SuperSU.zip package in recovery. Part of the problem is the orginal Superuser (by ChainsDD) while excellent at the time is now extremely outdated and no longer really be maintained, as a result make sure you flash a Superuser package compatible with Android 4.4.2 such as the latest version of SuperSU.

[Q] Rooting a Dragon touch A1X plus tablet

Hey there, after reading this forum for awhile, I still haven´t managed to get a root on this device, tried framaroot, klingo root, iroot, and many more, i get the SuperSU app on the device but it doesn´t give root permissions to any other apps, have someone successfully root this tablet? or have any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Version is Android 4.4.2
Kingo root
I found and downloaded "Kingo Root". I ran it from my PC with my Dragon Touch 10.1" A1X Plus connected and it says I'm ROOTED. I already had a root checking App on my tablet and it verified that I'm rooted. Later today I'll try some Apps that require root like Titanium Backup and some different games.
Kingo seemed pretty straightforward and user friendly but until I have time to do some testing I won't be able to completely vouch for this software. But, I didn't get anything weird on my PC nor tablet so far. I do have Avast running on my tablet and AVG running on my PC so I should be protected from malware and viruses. I suggest that everyone protect your devices prior to loading any software.
Kingo Root doesn't work!

After testing last night I found that Kingo Root doesn't truly root the Dragon Touch 10.1" A1X Plus. While for a short time my root checker did show that I was rooted, Titanium Backup and other apps were not able to gain root access. At one point I had to perform a soft reset to get off a blank screen. I have discovered that the ROM used for this build is from HTC so maybe the root software used for this should be something used for HTC phones and tablets. So, keep searching folks because Kingo Root is NOT the answer for root accesss...Sorry!
My grandmother just got a "Bright Tab" 10" tablet. As far as I can determine, the same generic Chinese company that makes the particular tablet that gets branded as Dragon Tab normally makes this. This appears to be an unbranded version of the exact same tablet (I think specifically for Walmart to reduce costs a bit. They also threw in a lovely malware called "Google 12.0" that shows annoying popup ads frequently and slows down the whole system...) I noticed it even had a "DragonFire" and "DragonPhone" app in there.
Anyway, I did get it rooted. First, KingoRoot seems to sort of temproot. However it does appear to have an actual writable system partition, not one of those read-only images with a hybrid overlay mounted on boot as many systems do. So here's what you do. Run KingoRoot's app to temproot. Install SuperSU or your favorite SU app from the play store and while temprooted, manually install the real SU app to /system via the settings. Then remove the KingoRoot stuff (disable the KingoApp app temporarily to stop it from trying to take over, then you can uninstall it using TitaniumBackup assuming all goes well.) After all of this I seem to have true root and can now install Greenify, Xposed Framework, and so on.
I was hoping to find at least a CWM/TWRP option for this thing (I know CyanogenMod or any other AOSP -- or even a cleaner more proper build based on the stock ROM -- is impossible, but at least a proper recovery would be nice.) So far no good though.

It appears that your method works. I was able to perform all of the steps except for the manual install of the SU app into the /system. But all of the apps that I've tried that require root access are working. I'm still evaluating the outcome but so far so good.
Glad to hear it worked at all. Maybe try again after a reboot now that the alternate SU app has taken over? Oh, I think I had actually run Kingoroot first before running the alternate app. Since it's a temp root you have to rerun it every startup until you get the alternate installed into the system I guess.
My grandmother finally listened to me and will probably be taking that tablet back now, so I can't really mess around with it anymore to give any specifics. I convinced her to get something else that I think will make her a true Android convert instead of just wanting some little side thing for reading only, so one way or the other that thing is probably going to go, lol.

I just spent a couple hours trying both the iRoot and KingoRoot methods on a TabletExpress Dragon Touch M8 with Android 5.0 without success. I got to the point where I could open SuperSU, but then SuperSU wanted to update the binary and failed. I tried the KingoRoot tethered and apk installations. I tried using KingoRoot's Superuser App. Nothing worked. And Cyanogenmod is still a no-go.
Did you get kinguser? Or did you install supersu?

I think i found a solution after messing with my dragon touch m8... use iroot and make sure when you connect the m8 to your computer you have the usb debugging checked...unlock the screen before you plug it in and when iroot reads it you should see a pop up on the screen click ok and click reconnect it worked for me
if all else fails check out my video
