GS3 Wont Turn On - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Mom tried installing the latest software update from ATT. Rebooted and 5 mins later it turned off and now wont turn back on. Download mode wont work, this is a stock non rooted phone BTW.
Just plugged into my comp and the charging light isnt on but USB software install popped up. Wants to install with the disc...
Battery wont take a charge either. Tried other batteries and SIM cards, no luck

Suggests wrong firmware flashed if you downloaded for wrong model .
Or dead battery .
Or Sudden Death Syndrome .

It was the automatic update that came up on the screen. Not a battery issue, looking into sudden death

Maybe you can try to use the QPST tool to revive since yrs is qualcomm, I have done it with an LG phone so dun know if it can be done on S3. Do a search to see if anyone has done.

Talked to ATT and they will let us pay $75 to get back on warranty and fix/replace it

[Q] PC Unresponsive when USB Plugged in

Hey Guys,
I am using a Samsung Galaxy S2 I-9100 Carrier T-Mobile Hungary; though this started back when I was using AT&T from the US

I am having the problem very similar to this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317916&highlight=USB+does+-work
Though the poster has abandoned the question so I thought it wise to repost.
What I have seen:
When Plugging my device into any computer using any USB cable the result is the same.
If on - nothing happens; no notice on the PC and no charge on the phone. I have tried with debugging on/off, I have tried USB Mass storage mode no difference.
If off - It will turn on the phone and then the phone will show charging state though it will lose a charge and the PC will not say a device was plugged in. Also if phone is unplugged after it is on it will continue to say it is charging until a reboot.
If in Recovery Mode - Mounting any form of drive is not seen by the computer.
If in Download Mode - Device will say charging and drivers will attempt to install on the computer and I will see an unaccessible folder in "computer" that says "samsung i-9100"
I have just checked the web for updates and it says none found. To my limited understanding I am using a Stock ROM with an edited Kernel to give me root access.
I performed the update of the Kernel identically on both my and my fathers Identical phones and his has not had any problems. The only difference between the two is He is still on AT&T US; While I have moved to Hungary. But as I said the problem existed before that
If there is ANYTHING I can gather or forgot to submit that may offer some light to my problem please let me know.
Thank-You Very much for reading.
Regards,
Joshua Puckett
Fixed - I was using the cable that came with my Storm 2 BlackBerry; and tried after that a Cable I had bought at Radio Shack.
Once I tried the original Sammy cable it all worked;
Thanks to those who looked!

I rooted phone successfully but didn't want to unlock bootloader because I wanted to keep my 4G... I was ignorant to the fact that you can't flash Cyanogenmod with locked bootloader and tried flashing with bookstrap apk. Phone stuck in
"Failed To Boot 2"
if someone can help me get this fixed I'd be willing to donate to your developing.
any questions just pm me.
Im assuming you've tried a different SBF and still wont flash? If not i'd start there.. Also do a factory data reset before flashing with sbf, if not you may get bootloops. Can you type out exactly what it says under "staus"? Your ss cuts off
If your battery is too low, the flash will fail in rsd lite. Also your battery can't charge in rsd mode. You need to charge the battery with another phone, wall charger or cut a charger and put the black and red wire on the correct + and - points where your battery is.
Anybody notice the phone is showing it's in fastboot mode?
Thanks everyone for trying to help, Sprint replaced my phone though

this happened after my photon froze during a OTA it stayed in the same screen for a few hours so I did a battery pull and I keep getting "Failed to boot 1"
I have my phone it this exact same situation. My battery is dead at the moment but I made a factory cable not sure if that's a suitable replacement for fully charged battery. Anyways whenever I plug in the factory cable it says "Fast Support Protocol" but if I press the volume+ rocker it does not do anything, it just stays there. If I hold the volume it simply blinks and turns off.
Is there any known solution for this? I already ordered a wall charger but would love to get it working before that gets here.
thnx all

Lumia 920 Boot Manager loop after random reboots. Phone is dead

been having keyboard crashes and then after that any email outlook folder wont open.
would soft restart phone 4-5 times and it would work again for a while but then no audio on the phone. Youtube wont play, Phone calls would connect but no audio at all.
would restart again and audio would come and then keyboard would crash again. and battery would drain within half an hour.
finally last night i restarted and phone is stuck on the boot manager screen and refuses to even factory reset. and i m stuck with a bricked phone or the worlds best paperweight
this screen shows up and is looping on that:

Hello my friend,
Don't panic !
I had these a few days !
You need to download Nokia Care suite and you will be able to reflash your phone in bootloader mode.
It's the same method for unbranded Nokia 920, you will be bale to find a tutorial on Google

they said it could be a motherboard issue also so better to send it to repair

Is this phone dead?

Hey guys,
I'd a Galaxy s3 before changing to an M8 this year, the s3 was rooted and had Lightening Rom (I think) when I changed phone I gave the s3 to my sister and about 2-3 weeks later she complained that it wouldn't turn on, I fixed this by using Odin but the IMEI changed to the generic 0049, now I know there's a million threads about that but that's not the problem, I never reset the binary or anything on the phone but when I gave it back to her it would turn on just no signal, she decided to hand the phone into a "professional", I don't know what the guy did hence why I'm posting but is this bricked? It will go into download mode and can be recognised but cannot receive anything.
TL;DR - Phone had IMEI problem (0049) was sent to repair place and came back with this on the screen it will go into download mode and can be recognised but cannot receive anything

I would take it back. When you say it can not receive anything you mean Odin fails?
Can you get into recovery?

Alpha stucked in bootloop
Hi all Alpha people,
Got also in stucked bootloop SM-G850F.
I took out battery, press power button a few seconds,
Reinsert accu and quickly press vol. down+home and power.
After a few attempts the device turned to download mode
and was ready to install stock rom, found by sammobile.
Perhaps trying recovery if you have one. Greets Nick
Solved
I had the same trouble, buyed a new battery and the problem continues. The solution is to use a small piece of paper to adjust the battery. Please check the images attached of the solution. Hope will help to other people with the same trouble.
