I am also looking for the same.Unable to find any information regarding how to root HTC DESIRE U ( http://www.htc.com/in/smartphones/htc-desire-u-dual-sim/#/ ) which is sad.

Hi friends. My mobile model is 507s. Xtouch website was already an engineering mode code.'m Using this code to access the engineering mode and mobile phone settings from the default and Mobile Speaker, I have a problem. Now this code has been removed from the website xtouch and I do not have access to this code. Mobile speaker is also my problem. The code starts with * # * #. Who are all these codes?

You could try porting ROMs from other devices
Make sure to backup first though (learnt that the hard way...)

I flashed mine with a new rom from the device's website (xtouch x718), didnt know how to backup. Ended up with the touch screen not working

Try porting ROMs or if that isn't possible,
boot into recovery and perform a factory reset. That should fix things but make a backup of important stuff on your PC first..
oh and @B4nGaR4nG you don't need root to install a custom ROM.

First of all never try to flash any rom which is not meant for the phone on which you wanna flash it..
nextly installing a rom on other phone requires the port of that rom..
search at xda and google if can find such ports for ur phone

Well to be honest htc chacha is same as htc status..
they are the same phones..
htc chacha aka status is known by two different names at different regions...
Chacha for Asia-Pacific and Status at some other parts of world..
You could flash any rom meant for ChaCha on Status because they are the same phone with two different names..

hi, i have the same problem. i just found 2 or 3, only works 1, but the wifi doesnt work.

I need some help to download and install new rom more developed than that is mine now plz... so if you have root application that is working on my phone to make it able to setup lolipop on it and develop its stupid and old kitkat send sites or steps about that...

U can try framaroot from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/framaroot/root-framaroot-one-click-apk-to-root-t2130276
If that doesn't work u will need to do a rom read back to get the boot.img and recovery.img
