WoW really? Thanks for the headsup. Read some while back that he was looking into as someone from our forums was asking for it.
Did not know he will do it. He is kinda on again off again guy . IIRC he wanted to drop some of the development for new devices all together.
Again great news!

But from what I read you messed up the links?
You need to buy ANOTHER app and etc etc etc
read here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2537861
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.a2d.s2
Or do you have some other info, because the old link is still not compatible with LG G2, maybe play store in my region need a refresh too.

I'm satisfied with NextRadio. What are the benefits of this app over NextRadio?

One uses data while the other uses built in FM radio.
Benefits = hearing Emergency Alerts or localized news / talk shows / radio stations without requiring Data

Knowne Issues on AOKP/AOSP based ROMs

We all know that there are a few knows issues with AOKP/AOSP based ROMs. The 2 issues that affect me the most are:
1. FM Radio not working: Came across some users who said that Sprint Radio works well as a substitute
2. WiFi Tethering: This is a major pain point which is a deal breaker for me in adopting these awesome ROMs.
My question is, is there any hope of these issues being sorted out anytime soon?
Thanks.
Hi,
Hummm.... :
CyanogenMod10:GT-I9300:Nightly:Known issues
. Camera: Recording effects broken
.Camera: Touch 2 focus issues
Wifi: Tethering broken
.Bluetooth: Tethering broken
FM Radio: unsupported

For FM radio try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059296
But it seems thre is some progress here for the wifi tethering (last page): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1779578
I'm not sure about wifi Tethering, just take a look. Wich ROM do you use? if it's not CM 10, maybe others AOSP will merge a fix (commit)?
Don't realy know..., just following the threads...
Sorry if that doesn't help much more.
The best is asked to a AOSP dev (I mean CM10 team)..., NO? LOOOOOOOL :silly::silly::silly:
And ask for an ETA..... :cyclops::silly:

Well I'm using Viking ROM which is a stripped down version of Sammy Stock ROM. I did try the official AOKP build 4 and for a brief moment and was amazed by the enormous options provided by it.. Would definitely go back to this ROM once the wifi tethering issue is fixed...
I use Liquid Jelly Bean AOSP and wifi tethering doesn't work but nocast the dev is determined to fix this issue, it would have been a deal breaker for me as well as i tether all the time until i discovered https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.opengarden.android.MeshClient which works a treat so i just use that.
I've got unlimited data so if i wanna listen to radio i just use the superb https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=radiotime.player&hl=en
what i have found on many AOSP ROM's is after you take a photo the camera will FC so i always boot into recovery and fix permissions and this generally solves the problem.

I was gonna ask this very same question i.e. if there was any third party app that could be used to plug this gap. Thanks for answering my question. AOKP ROMs here i come!!!

FM Radio: Receive & Transmit. :)

It appears that at least one person's Sola is capable of transmitting an FM signal over short distances. I imagine many others can transmit as well as P, U & Go but I'm not sure yet.
If this works widely, these will be among the very few Android phones that can transmit FM, and the only widely available 2012 device I'm aware of. The only other is the T-Mobile/HTC Mytouch 4G and it's also unofficial.
I'll get an app posted soon that can be used to test. I don't have any of these phones, but a Sola owner is helping me a lot. I expect to get one soon, perhaps a U.
Probably most of you in the Sony world aren't aware of my Spirit FM app, since I've been unable to support most; see my sig.
I'm in the design phase for Spirit2 and it will use the ST-Ericsson proposed Android FM API slowly making it's way into AOSP over the last few years. Spirit2 info also in signature at bottom.
Happily for some Sony 2012 device owners, and more-so for cg2900 based device users, this is the API Sony uses in Radio3.apk. CG2900 devices may be the only ones with FM transmit at present though.
I understand the General section isn't for questions, but if mods are OK with it, I'd be interested in "discussing opinions" (which happens in General all the time) about which phone might be best for my development work on this FM API.
Feel free to ask any questions related to FM. I presume people can do that in an info thread. And yes, I've ensured there are no question marks in this post, LOL.
So these are the devices I'm considering, preceded with their best shipped prices in Canadian $ on Ebay:
$ 210 U ST25i
$ 230 Sola MT27i
$ 240 Go ST27i
$ 300 P LT22i
My take reading a bit here is that P is the "best", and as old as U, but U has more custom ROM development.
I'm presuming the carrier unlocked devices, mostly from Hong Kong or China, are also boot-loader unlocked. I think I should avoid local devices, such as from Rogers here in Canada, because they have locked boot-loaders.
I just need a good phone for testing both stock and custom ROMs not normal use. I should probably wait until transmit capability is tested on a few phones successfully.
Wau, Mike You are genius! Spirit fm on ste chipsets.. I have xperia p so i can test something

How to make what work ?
The Nov 26 test release linked in post 1 of my thread should actually work on stock or stock derived devices, but I think it won't run a second time without rebooting.
I'll try to put out a test release in the next day or 2 that will work better. I have it running now w/ RDS on CM10 on my OneX LTE, using the libfmradio.sony-iris.so library found on the Xperia T and similar. And hopefully my Sola tester will report good results tomorrow.
There are still some potentially difficult issues on AOSP type ROMs such as FreeXperia etc., mostly audio related. Audio issues are my most difficult task but stock ROMs make it easy. At least this FM chip is V4L and easy to enable on custom kernels, unlike Broadcom & TI combo chips that can be a pain with bluetooth issues.
BTW, these devices can support FM recording, on stock ROMs at least. I guess most Sony's can.
I looked a bit at the Snowball dev kits for cg2900 etc. None of them support FM, just like the TI Panda & virtually all dev boards. I have to imagine the regulatory issues are a pain.
...
I almost hate to say it, but I wouldn't be here in the Sony forums if the Android API used by Spirit2 wasn't hosted natively on these devices. Cg2900 devices especially seem to be the reference platform for this ST-Ericsson originated API.
I've intended to focus Spirit2 only on the most popular devices with custom ROMs; mostly Samsungs and HTCs. It's WAY too much work to support devices I don't own for testing, and to try to support more than a few dozen devices, of the thousand(s) out there.
And yet stock Sony's support this API, so it's difficult to say I won'
t officially support them. Anyway, consider this a warning that I might decide not to officially supported stock unrooted Sony's at least. My niche is FM on custom ROMs; and average "normal" smartphone users aren't really my target.
Hi,
Here is a little FM transmit test app. Audio is not working yet but you can get a signal and see RDS data on another radio
How it works :
Turn on a radio on 87.5 Mhz
Make sure a headset is connected to your device as it works like an antenna
Open the app and wait 5 seconds.
Click on the Freq 87500 button
Click on the RDS button
Now if you place your device next to your radio you should get a signal and see "Test RDS written". The signal strengh is not very good so it can be hard to have RDS.
To stop transmit just open the stock FM radio app.
Feedback is appreciated on every STE devices

You have to open and close the stock FM app after you use the app to reset everything.
Also make sure you wait 5 seconds after opening the app before pressing the freq button.

BTW, I think that not every FM radio (especially non-smartphone radios) can go down to 87.5. US radios in particular may only go down to 87.9 or 88.1.
For anyone reporting, please report your device, where you got the device, and ROM. Looking at freshbooy's posts I guess he also has a Sola but I don't want to search through everyone's posts or guess.
And for now at least, we're just trying to see if transmit works. It's not particularly usable with no audio, and we can't be sure if audio can even work. I think audio will work, when figured out, but we'll have to see.
So that's two reports from Sola that are positive; Can we get reports for U, P & Go ?
I'm asking "where you got the device" because of my concerns that transmit might be somehow disabled on variants from specific regions or carriers, so please specify the country &/or carrier you purchased from.
I think that only stock or stock derived ROMs have a chance of working with this current FM transmit app.
I can't stress enough how weak the signal may be, and to see RDS data requires a VERY clean signal. For testing it's probably best to loosely wrap the full length of the Xperia wired headset cable around the full length of the antenna of the FM receiver. We may be able to increase power; we tried but first attempt didn't succeed.
I would appreciate getting more feedback on FM transmit, particularly from Xperia U, P or anything ending in 'a' for North American 3g frequencies.
I have experimental transmit in Spirit, but haven't posted it anywhere yet.
I'm about to buy a U, and I guess it will be ST25a so I can use the 3G here with Bell Canada.
AFAICT, the 'a' models still have FM (receive at least, I think.)
I guess if the vendor allows returns, I can consider that if transmit doesn't work.
Are you the spirit fm developer then? If so, please make it work for our Xperia S Jellybean roms. A lot of people will love you forever if you do!

Yes. Are you to whom I just sent this email response ? :
Generally I say no to all Sony support questions.
But I've been adding support for some stock Sony devices, including the Xperia S. This is in preparation for Spirit2 using the AOSPish FM API. But it won't work on CM or other AOSP ROMs.

Dec. 4 test release of Spirit FM Free: http://d-h.st/HDa
Not tested on anything but HTC OneX LTE and Sony Xperia Sola MT27i.
Unofficial support for some stock Sony 2012 devices. Transmit on CG2900 devices: U ST25i, Sola MT27i, Go ST27i, P LT22i.
FreeXperia and other AOSP ROMs not supported, but S4/S4+ devices may work rooted with OneX LTE etc support.
CG2900 (libfmradio.cg2900.so): U ST25i, Sola MT27i, Go ST27i, P LT22i
Broadcom proprietary (libfmradio.brcm-prop_rx.so): S LT26i, Acro S, Ion (Not sure about Xperia Miro, Tipo, J)
Qualcomm WCN3660 (libfmradio.sony-iris.so): T LT30p, TX LT29i, V LT25i
FM Transmit test mode: Ensure wired headset is plugged in and wrapped in a "long way" along the length of a test receiver antenna. Set Debug-> FM Chip to "STE AFM TX" and restart Spirit. Can frequency be changed without restart ? There will likely be no audio.
Use seek down and seek up set different RDS data patterns.
FM Receive mode: either use automatic settings, or set Debug-> FM Chip to "STE AFM RX", set Audio-> Method to "Sony/STE/Android" and restart Spirit.

Don't run the stock FM app at the same time. It might work in the normal receive mode, & I'd like to hear if that works, but I don't know.
Bootloader lock doesn't matter. All that matters is that you have a stock or stock derived ROM.

Android Wear and iOS connectivity

Hi all.
I am starting this thread so that to discuss/investigate the compatibility options between iOS and Android Wear.
The Apple watch is around the corner after all, but there are many of us Apple fans (not fanboys) that do not like it.
It simply is not enough, especially if the inexcusable delays are taken into consideration.
It is ugly, girly (personal opinion), lacking functionality and most of all it's UI seems so not Apple like.
I know there are many iPhone users who would love to have an Android Wear watch that actually works with their phones.
There are rumours that Google will eventually officialy support iOS but until then there are at least 4 devs who (claim to) have managed the impossible.
XDA members @MohammadAG, @iAppleDev and @ali.almahdi, as well as a dev who goes by Twitter name @shiitakeo.
Of these, @shiitakeo and @iAppleDev have uploaded alpha versions of the required .apk that should run on the watch side.
It is my understanding that all solutions do not require a JB iPhone and do not require a rooted Gear Watch.
On the iPhone side installation of an app (like LightBlue or BLE utility) that exposes notifications to ANCS is required.
I ask that all who have access to both an iPhone and an Android Wear watch and want to participate in this thread that they share their test conclusions here.
We need beta testers to confirm:
1) What configuration/solution you are using.
2) What works
3) What doesn't work
What we know is that all these alpha solutions aim at allowing iOS notifications to be transfered via BLE to the Wear watch.
Added functionality like Google Now or even Siri on the watch remains a dream for the time being, and would most certainly require a JB iPhone.
It would be great if a dev (one of the above mentioned or any other interested in this) could provide more info about his/her solution, like ETA, bug list, functionality, soon to come and related stuff.
Thank you all in advance.
Shiitakeo APK is working sweet Thx and is where I got most of the code to make mine. He has made a lot of very sweet apps and is working on it hard
I will be still working on this as well.
So far you get most all notifications and there are some quirks but seems to be working good so far. You can't see all text in some notifications, can't reply, respond, notifications sometimes get removed proper from watch if removed from phone, no networking or Siri yet.
@iAppleDev Do incoming calls on the iPhone create a notification on the watch?
Does the name show up?
Networking would be great to have!
Siri or Google Voice or both would be perfect!
Thank you for your feedback and keep up the good work!
Yes incoming call show name on watch and missed called too

@shiitakeo Thnank you for participating in this thread. And of course thank you for your awesome software.
Is there any chance that we can have networking/Google Now/Siri on an Android Wear watch when connected to an iPhone?
I guess that would require a JB iPhone and a tweak running iPhoneside. But it would be AWESOME!
So far I have see. That the Moto 360 is rather unstable, where as the G watch R works better with your solution. Is that correct? Which watch would you recommend?
My personal preference base on looks is the Moto 360, but if it does not really work with the iPhone then I may have to change my mind.
Again, thank you for your great work!
Software has a bug
Thank you very much for your software. But I think i find a problem. My Moto 360 is running android 5.0.2. After connecingt my 360 to my iphone, the screen won't swipe back to home automatically and the screen shows disconnected. Fortunately ,notifications are transfered correctly.

@swyner my man, please share your observations regarding the iOS and Moto 360 combination.
What about the disconnects?
I don't have any issues with disconnecting yet. I have only used it for a bit but all notifications work awesome. I will do more testing over the weekend. I had only heard that some had connection drops but like I said short time I have used it it's been stable.
The other person that posted it shows "disconnected" that is the network and not the Bluetooth connection. NOTHING will work that requires an Internet connection like Google now, weather etc. I have the same android Wear version as you and what you describe is what we are limited to now.

The other person that posted it shows "disconnected" that is the network and not the Bluetooth connection. NOTHING will work that requires an Internet connection like Google now, weather etc. I have the same android Wear version as you and what you describe is what we are limited to now.

Thank you! I am about to purchase a Moto 360. I have always loved that watch but still preferred my iPhone over it. Until now, that is. Hopefully @shiitakeo and the other devs will further improve their solution!

For Siri or Google now and voice commands from watch an Jailbreak app probably is required same like pebble watch with Siri pebble and Smartwatch+ apps. But it might be possible with out when Google releases there iOS app in the App Store
---------- Post added at 05:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:42 PM ----------
If your having disconnect issues try reset the watch to factory then install only the alpha from @shiitakeo https://twitter.com/shiitakeo/status/575713237091516416 and try again you can't be using another ancs.APK on the watch just @shiitakeo apk

the usb dont work
Thanks. How are people restoring data. Reason I ask is because I flashed lots of apps through twrp to get around s-on. If I go twrp >restore then just check data from my last backup do you foresee issues?
Probably won't be using this as daily driver yet but hope most major bugs will be fixed.
What about gapps? Is there a recommended one?
Yea. No audio through headphone jack. That sucks because overall this runs very smooth. I remember when I was using jmz kernel connecting audio jack sometimes triggered erratic behavior like it dialing numbers, bringing up voice search etc.
Hopefully it gets fixed because I really like it but not being able to listen to podcasts/music in car is a deal breaker. Still its really awesome to have some development.
I already flashed back to stock to test out the wp kernel (so far working good) But would love to find a solution for this. Anyone think its possible this is a codec issue? Maybe the phone this ROM was originally ported to already had all the codecs installed?
That would be a easy-ish fix but I wouldn't know where to begin. My experience with codecs is they'll fix audio issues but usually it covers all audio issues on the device, not just one aspect--no sound through audio jack.
I just thought I'd share a potential jumping off point for anyone serious about finding a fix.
A few notes for further troubleshooting--
The phone recognizes when a headphone is being plugged in as the music pauses and all sounds stop.
Soundabout app will give a warning when headphones are unplugged.
Headphones
I have the headphones working on AT&T version by replacing files located in /system/etc with files from stock rom
media_codecs.xml
media_profiles.xml
mixer_paths.xml
mixer_paths_auxpcm.xml
I just downloaded rom to sdcard and moved and replaced files with Root Explorer then flashed.
I'm enjoying this rom so far, but there are a few problems I've encountered. audio Jack won't work, i can't seem to record with the camera though i can take pictures, and i can't change the wallpaper to a picture in my gallery. Also the computer no longer sees it via usb, other than that it does what i wanted. tethering to my tablet to share my phones internet with it. im on straight talk, the pre loaded att stuff was stopping me. thank you for this!
The camera is VERY GRAINY AND BLURRY
Have anyone tried to used the camera? On my phone it looks really grainy and blurry. If anyone knows what's the problem with it I might try and fix it.

From what I remember it was a little blurry i think. Maybe try a different camera app?
The headphones still aren't recognized in the FM Radio app.Overall still need several improvements.

Btw--i don't really follow what you meant by download the ROM? Did you unextract it, copy the files to system/etc then recompress it?
That's what I'm gonna try but what I probably would've done is flash slim as is then reboot recovery and use file manager to move the files. Also in another thread I inquired if @MiniBlu's wp mod might work with this since I'm s-on...you don't happen to try it did you?
Thanks again for the tip.
I just moved the files from running stock Rom to the zip file and flashed in recovery. This is all I've tried.
Found another bug--front facing camera crashes for me right after switching. I tried it with 2 different camera apps.

Its running really smooth for me and play store is fine. I did a clean flash and flashed the headphone fix. Also what gapps are you using? I just downloaded slimrom gaps for 4.4.4--the zip is labeled "slimaddons". Think there's a way to download gaps right in settings but I didn't notice that till after flashing.
Want to try this ROM, but do I need to flash the jm3auz kernel before doing so?
Oh lol didn't even notice thanks

No. Just factory reset, flash ROM, flash headphone fix, reboot.

[APK] Missing apps? FM Radio, Quick Remote, Smart settings etc dl HERE [discontinued]

Hello guys,
If you've installed a rooted image like I did, maybe you just noticed that the author decided to get rid of LG bloatwares. But some apps are really useful and I don't get why he removed them. I am indeed refering to FM Radio and Quick Remote (IR) apps.
So, I did a backup of the two apk from my latest clean install.
Attachments below. May not work with all variants (as I read that US carriers removed these apps because of money/rights?)
Hope it will be useful to some of you. Cheers!
P.S. don't hesitate to ask if you're searching for an apk. Glad to help.
stock LG Browser apk available at post #10
LG Health and Health Agent apk available at post #21
Mirrorlink apk available at post #23
Calc system app apk+lib available at post #26
Alarm clock apk available at post #35
QRemote (Lollipop) apk dl below, QRemote (MM) here with its QuicksetSDK (MM) here
LG Keyboard MM (should be flashable, else copy zip content to system)
Smart Setting with sys files pack available below
LG Browser MM (system/priv-app)
LG Mirrorlink MM (system/app)
LG Smart Notice MM
LG Radio (working!) (install as normal apk)
LG Smart World (install as normal apk)
LG live wallpaper
LG Home and LG Message
LG Quick Memo+
LG Backup and Restore
Mine doesn't have the voice recorder icon !!
The stock one (default) sucks; may I suggest you to install Sony Audio Recorder
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonymobile.androidapp.audiorecorder
Nice design and a great Android Wear integration.
Anyone having problems with quick remote after setting the dpi to 540? Try to set it again to 640 with appsettings xposed module but didn't work...
What's the point to change the DPI for this app? The display is perfect.
I only changed those settings with Chrome to get the tablet mode and tabs bar on the top.

I have changed all the system not only Quick remote.
Oh I see. And what did you get? Am not in that sort of thing, so I can't imagine what your system looks like and I must say, no idea to make Qremote fitting the original display. Good luck!
Can anyone upload lg smart actions

Hey, I accidentally removed my Live Wallpaper Picker and was wondering if you have a version that will work with the H815 variant?
Someone with working fm radio post your build.prop please, trying to figure out what's different about the verizon varriant that it's disabled.

I don't think that's going to help, my friend. Verizon and some of the other US carriers typically ground one of the wires leading to the FM module, which literally diverts electricity away from it so that it won't even turn on - and I bet that's what Verizon has done here with their G4 as well. A build.prop edit won't change it. All you can do is crack your phone open, get out a soldering gun, and try to solder a new ungrounded connection yourself (Skill level: Adam Outler).
Some carriers do this so that you are required to use streaming apps for radio instead like Tune-in Radio or Spotify, which burns through your data plan and makes them more money. You aren't the only one upset about this. There are a lot of petitions online to get carriers to reverse this practice. One is here: http://freeradioonmyphone.org/
Thanks for the explanation, @biff6789
I wasn't aware of such plan as modifying a device just to make money.
Hopefully I own the H815 variant.
