I am new here and learn from this site too much, I has been upgraded my note 1 to KitKat 4.4.2 Omin version, its real good and faster but I need some programs I has to use like s-note , I tried many sabots but the installation failed version not supported is any solution for this ..

Being gifted a Coolpad 8180 Chinese Phone (Android 2.3.7) with no google play or rest of the usual functianalities,i have been struggling to crack it and flash the ROM.Most of the tutorials and the forums in the Web have been tried and tested but still I am stranded and wondering how to proceed.Being a Noobs does not help
My challenge and mission is two fold
1)Clear out the existing firmware and apps in the phone(most of them are Chinese) and reinstall a new foirmware and android version
2)Would it be possible to test and maybe install KitKAt 4.4 in it considering it has the basic minimum requirements such as 512 RAM to run it
Any one can give some helpful advice, would be highly appreciated

A leaked Kitkat ROM has already been posted here, but there are some issues with it. Hopefully Huawei fixes the DPI issue and the poor wifi/cellular radio because it was much smoother and faster than the 4.2.2 we have now.

have you tried to root the 4.4.2 x1?
I updated to 4.4.2 and tried to root it to remove some of the chinese apps and install google ones. no lock yet.
Update: Used vRoot 1.7.8 and it succeeded to root my tablet (501U, B007 Kitkat )
I'm looking for a way to get gapps installed on device, I went trhough renaming that xml file (which now i dont remember the name) but after reboot it just installed chrome and search. others missing...

Nabi makes a giant touchscreen which I would like to use for a unity3d project. It's called the big tab 24. It comes with kit kat 4.4. and on top runs it's own OS for kids.

I need some sound features that exist only in lollipop 5.1 for my project.
How would I update a device like this to lollipop 5.1?
Would I need to root it? I am a complete noob at android having previously only worked on IOS.

A 5.1.1 official or custom rom has to available for the device first, otherwise it won't be possible
I am new to android--- i know my way around on a pc and have built many pc's
the word Bricked --scares me ! i have android version 4.2.2 on my asus memo pad hd7 (me173x)
and need to get to at least4.4.2 so i can use my chrome cast it wont let me load the googlecast app for chrome unless i have android4.4.2 or higher
is there an easy way to do this or do i have to go thru the rooting process with a new rom to upgrade etc.
A guide to do this would be helpfull.....

There's no Android 4.4.x (KitKat ) for this device.
All my efforts to make it where in vain also, theplatform i really old and it's an mediatek
I lack several custom made asus kernel /plat drivers to make a working KK based kernel ...
