It is very doubtful you will ever see kitkat. it also depends on whether there is a recovery that can flash it.
Sent from my One using Tapatalk

I've been on my wife's gnexus running kitkat and the very latest kernels for a few days and I can tell you it's got nothing on good ol' Thundershed/Leankernel 6.2. I think I've flashed everything available for the tbolt and that is the best for me....by far!

its very possible with the few 3.0 kernels we have floating around, compiling the latest clockwork mod would be the easiest step, but I don't know of any developers up to do it, I just got a new computer so I might, oh & I could guarantee that the data wouldn't work lol

I'd just be happy to find an active host that I can DL the stock, debloated ICS ROM. Or CM 10.1 or CM 10.2. I can't believe that I can't find a single place to DL from.

[Q] Why no CyanogenMod?

I ran CM7 nightlies on my DInc2 and updated to the stable version the day it came out. Technically, I am a noob so I really don't know what I am doing, I just know what I like and I can follow directions. (Except for Matt's ICS update when I forgot to protect the root and had to start over with .181, doh!)
Why is it that CyanogenMod is unavailable for one of the hottest phones on the market? Is it because of the locked boot loader? (which I will have to look up cause I don't even know what the heck a boot loader is anyway)
It's not über important, I just really miss my CM7 and was wondering if anyone knew the answer.
Locked bootloader= no custom kernals also there is cm9 but not cm7 nobody wants cm7 anymore ....
Sent from my Spectrum....Verizon's most underrated phone
You don't need custom kernels to have official CM.
That being said, our devs are hard at work on making a fully functional CM ROM - thing is though, since we have to work around the kernel that our devices are working using a process called "2nd-init", since we have locked bootloaders, everything is taking a lot longer and is a lot harder.
We have a partially working CM9 ROM over at http://droidhive.com. We also have AOKP.
Would you recommend a partially working version for noob who really loves CM?

Get the fist leaked ICS. It is cool.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA Premium App
I am running 4.0.3. I agree, it is cool. I still think I prefer CM.
CM isn't necessary at this point in time.
hy,
i am quite sure this questions wer answered x-times, but i didn´t find the answer in the forum, so i will ask:
1) Can we expect that the Bootloader will ever be UNLOCKED?
2) Are some DEV´s (and who?) working on it? Do they inform the folk on ex. twitter or so, like the iPhone guys (musclenerd, pod2g, ionic,...)
3) I already updated to ICS-TMobile-Leak, is my bootloader now different to the one in GB?
somehow i thought, i shoud write a NEW post, but i hope its okay to ask here, coz +1(wanna hav CM9 toooo)

1. I think only Moto can unlock the bootloader, cause someone else told me it's an hard work because of 3 layers of encrypted code (I don't know what it means!)...it requires a lot of time and a powerfull machine
2. see n°1, Eternity project team are working on a bypass for bootloader (kexec)
3. ICS Bootloader is different from GB one, I guess.

Wait a moment...kexec is not necessary for CM9 flashing...you can flash modded rom, yet.
kexec (or unlocked bootloader) is required for mod kernels!
I am on icsleak, means i cannot flash costum rom as long as devs are not developing roms for my existing kernel right?
So i need to have kexec to bypass the kernel flashing to flash a costum rom...

First phrase. Yes, I think so, if you can't downgrade to GB, as I guess
Second hrare. I don't know if kexec gives you this opportunity. You have always to flash a compatible kernel with a custom rom, its or others. This is my guess, someone else can confirm or not?

What would you want to dual boot? I know there are other devices out there that dual boot, but the reason being is so they can run android. And we are obviously already on android. I don't think you'll find anyone who is going to port over WP7 or WebOS to our phones. That would be a lot of work and our devs are already busy with getting JB stable

With dual boot, wouldn't you be able to run ICS and JB for example? It would be useful to try the new JB ROMs without losing the stability of the previous ROM you were using, and without the need to nandroid everytime.

The thing is.. there is no unstability in JB Roms. Not even the first build FE put out was unstable. Sure, some things did not work, but now mostly everything works. GPS/911 has been hit or miss on anything but Froyo.
Everything else pretty much just works as it did in ICS.
I don't see a purpose in having dual boot, the ONLY reason I would see it is if I wanted to switch between ROMS just to try each one out, which is already possible through nandroid.

Thats what I explained.
You can EASILY do a nandroid backup of your permanent ROM- and go between your perm. and exper. ROMs.
It takes about ~5mins to restore each ROM

First of all, I'm real sorry to get your hopes up!
The reason for this thread is that I'm hoping a dev would convert this rom so it works on our beloved 7105.
Is it even possible to port this rom over?
Anyway, would love to see it as there's a lack of roms for the 7105 compared to the 7100.
If I'm breaking the rules with this thread I'm really sorry, feel free to close and delete it.

If it's on the A.T&T thread, then you can flash that Rom. Most of the Roms I use are from that Thread. Just make sure you have the right modem. I haven't flashed this particular ROM yet, but I'm getting to it. The new P.A builds have just come out, so I've flashed them this morning to give it a try. Just make sure you have Nandroid and you will be set to go.

Got my Modem from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2031575
Hope this helps. Just make sure you flash the right one of course. I would also recommend Flashing the latest Neak Kernel for AOSP/AOKP Roms. It seems to work the best. Also and off topic here, the latest Roobox Nightly has been released, just search GOOMANGER on your phone. That now has Halo and works really well. The main bug is the Expand screen part doesn't work properly, but everything else is really sweet. The PacMan Rom, the halo still has the SMS bug. If you get a new SMS and you click on it through HALO, it will exit out of the app you were in. So keep that in mind. Going to give the XYELon Rom a go tonight and see how that fairs.

Thanks! I'm still on PA 3.15 port but noticed I had a swedish modem. Well no wonder I've had worse reception than other in my house while everything has worked fine othervise... Got a Finnish modem now and all calls work perfectly
But yeah, Pac-Rom here I come!

I've been looking into porting for a long time and have been trying to figure things out.
So you say any rom or just certain roms will flash fine on our n7105 providing we ensure to flash the appropriate modem???
Hmm for some reason the recovery didn't let me install the latest version of AT&T Pac-Rom Any ideas? Wrong model?

Hi there, I've flashed pretty much every ROM that there is on the AT&T section and all have worked. I did flash with the proper modem on all of them. However, that said if most of the time if I didn't flash the latest NEAK kernel then at times I would get no reception at all. With the latest builds of RootBox, and Pacman i didn't bother flashing the kernel and it worked just fine. The T-Mobile Roms just don't work. I've tried to flash a few and they just don't even flash.
However, just keep in mind that some ROMS will change your build.prop like Skynote and Pacman, so you have to edit them. Also with Rootbox, you have to change the MMS.apk as the one built in is buggy. So i usually use the one I've ripped from the P.A builds as they work just fine.
In short. Yes. These do work for the n7105. Just flash the proper modem and you will be set.

If you are using CWM, it always tends to fail on you. I use TWRP and haven't had an issue since. Flash back to a stable ROM and install TWRP through GOO manager. Then flash it using TWRP. Be sure to do a full wipe. Then advanced cache and dalvik cache wipe. Twice for both. That is what I do make sure I have a clean system, then install the Rom, Gapps, Modem, Kernel. Kernel shouldn't be an issue with Pacman. Use the one provided.

BAM 4.4 Kit Kat Custom Rom

Has anyone tested BAM on the TF201? If so what were your feelings on it vs CM11?
TF 201 is on BAMs supported Device List
I'm assuming you need to be on the 4.1 bootloader with a working recovery. You install it via the application
BAM Installer
if anyone is on 4.1 and willing to flash you should let me know how it goes. I am on Cromi-X on the 4.2 bootloader so I am hesitant to go through the whole flashing process if the ROM is buggy. Thanks in advanced.

I have been trying to get it install since yesterday. It says it installed successfully using the new TWRP Voyager recovery that is KitKat compatible. The ROM just sits at the Asus screen though for 3 or 4 minutes and won't boot the ROM. I don't know if there is something else I need to do or not. I know I haven't bricked my device as I was able to get back into recovery and install my backup. Anyone have any suggestions???

Maybe the new recovery isn't necessary? I am not too sure it seems like a lot of the community for developing is found on Google+ I haven't seen anything on XDA about BAM Android for our Primes, hence the reason I posted here in the Q&A

Ah well that makes sense, we don't want to brick the tab over a possible ROM. How is CM11 though? I had 10.2 for a while but it stuttered too much for my taste. Have you noticed any degradation of overall performance with gaming and videos?

After some reading...

Hey Guys,
After seeing what we were able to do with the AOSP Rom and SafeStrap, couldn't help but wonder if the same be done with Cyanogen? I know Cyanogen normally boots with AOSP style kernels, but if a Google Edition ROM can be booted... shouldn't Cyan be able to? Couldn't we use the GE/CM11 Edition in the Development Section, then remove the cyan kernel (so ours goes untouched, not tripping KNOX)?
I know that it would be feature barren due to kernel differences, but its still cyan
I'm wondering if that kind of magic could be used to port this ROM over?

Alright so I just tried to do that. I got as far as the boot ani then it simply loops repeatedly and vibration keeps going off. I let it sit for 10 minutes I don't know if I am missing something or forgot something on the build I worked on. I can upload it to my AFH account if you want me to so you can see if I am missing something.
Also best of luck on the CM11 stuff. :good:

nothing, this ROM is MDK only. im pretty sure cm is the same way. i highly doubt we can get CM booting just by screwing with the kernel. i actually brought up the idea but.. it's probably not possible.

Actually, you are right, just screwing around with the kernel WILL NOT work, but building CM from source using the "build with stock kernel" option SHOULD work. If AOSP/GE will work, it should. Just ripping the Boot.mg out and replacing with ours will not work.
But I started work today and forked a lot of Github repos and have begun work on CM for SafeStrap. Time Will Tell

Yeah we do have a bit of the ground work with the AOSP/GE ROMs that mostly work on NC5 that could be used towards getting CM11 working. Now I don't know beyond that what it will take to get CM11 to work with the stock kernel but I would have to think that at least if it does get working then the issues we have right now on the AOSP/GE ROMs can be fixed since we'd have the ROM source/Github/etc to work from on this.
Well if anything, the at&t rom gives me hope for the future.. That ROM is a great daily driver. They even have WiFi tethering fixed (its a manual fix that requires putting commands into terminal emulator, its still a fix though)
Also for those who miss USB file transfer.. I've always found it to be way too slow for any practical purposes. Airdroid is way faster than USB mtp on touchwiz.
