Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

While I won't say it's strictly required, I will say it's 1000% recommended, and failure to do so will leave your phone in a very broken (but fixable, if you know how) state.
No, I will not detail how. Just wipe

Thank you! I knew I had seen that before, but didn't know how to get there.

Up and running great here. I have a mako and a grouper both carbonized...
Thank you for such a great release carbon team.
And thank you very very much @PhaseBurn for maintaining our device.

@PhaseBurn i have a problem with stock launcher :/ i have 6x5 icons on menu :/ any method to fix it?
p.s thanks for the hard work

After two months of waiting, I was expecting more from Carbon team.
Compared to other kk ROMs, it has much less features...
Compared with November Carbon builds, it feels like it is not... Carbon.
Sorry, this is my opinion...

Awesome! Thanks for building Carbon, you continue to do some great stuff here for the 4.0.
EDIT: I ran across three force closes, 2 of which are the same as CM11.
Like CM11, messaging force closes, so I deleted mms.apk and now it's all good. Also the same as CM11, settings/storage force closes on initial boot but after a reboot it's fixed.
One other force close I got was acore process has stopped. I've seen that one before on other roms/devices, it's fixed by clearing cache/data of contacts storage in apps.
Just finished setting up and restoring my apps with Titanium and overall this is running really well, smooth and feels pretty quick. Really nice work on this, thanks again.
Btw, camera front and back work fine, just as in CM.

Awesome, I'll have to try it out when I get some time
Just curious, do you have any figures on how it compares with CM11 when it comes to RAM usage?
Zaclimon has done it again lol. BTW how's battery life compared to CM 11?

I haven't played with it enough time to judge but it looks simillar (I would need to get ART running on it soon because I was trying to get down an issue related to hardware tunables...)

All right man. I installed it and it runs great. The only issue I ran into was that the setting forced closed, but I opened it back up and it ran fine. This has almost all the customization of PAC-rom, but runs much better. Now I have to find a way to mod the browser, because in Kitkat Google decided to remove some critical API's for flash. When you click on an video (for instance .mp4) the browser doesn't do the pop up that lets you select a video lol.
Does this Carbon ROM also work with YP-G70 The 5.0 version?
@zaclimon Holy cow that's good battery life. WiFi is on + being fully awake + no under clocking and it stl got 90% in an hour lol.

Nope only with the 4.0. However I can build a 5.0 version if there's enough interest.
@obscuresword ohh I didn't expected that. That's nice!! I do have a little feeling that graphics performance is not as good as cm.

I decided to take a plunge and upgrade from CM 10.02 (or something like that) and i can't believe how freakin amazing and professional this process and ROM's have become. Normally my upgrades and installs are plagued with teething issues (I literally have had to brute force a ROM once or twice) and painful bugs which have no easy workaround. This on the other hand was mindblowing.... I followed your CM 11 install instructions and it worked like the butter this system is made with no problems, easy and just superb.
As of yet i haven't found any bugs, the interface is smooth and honestly this has progressed so far since the times that it seemed we would never have a working camera/ anything.... I definitely suggest this to anyone that got a bit bored with CM (me, I could have upgraded to CM11 but this was something different).
Thankyou SO MUCH Zaclimon for another awesome ROM and I promise if i run into any unreported bugs I'll alert you happily! Thanks again!!!

There appears to be a problem with bluetooth in CarbonRom that makes the player unable to connect to or even be found by other devices.

Yeah I'm aware of it, the same thing happens with CM at the moment. While making some internal changes, I've broken GPS and Bluetooth. Both should be fixed in the next build.

Alright folks, new build released in my devhost folder.
23/03:
Fixed GPS and Bluetooth (broken earlier due to some internal changes I made)
Fixed vibrator intensity at boot
The touchscreen can now be used in recovery
There's now slim pie and the progress bar tweaks
Misc. improvements
Enjoy!!

Hey folks.
None of this would have been possible without the hard work of @crpalmer - he got the device started on CM, and did 99.999% of the hard work for this device bringup!!
I have done some basic tests - it boots!
The stock keyboard seems to be missing a lot - I'm sure installing an alternative will solve that issue. I'm also getting a lot of FC's from Google Keyboard.
CarbonFibers is not happy, going to look into that.
Should be on par with CM. Let me know what you find!
Thanks for developing for this device, will flash when I get a chance.

Well I suppose if you are comparing to stock, yes, it does "remove" multi-window...
Just remember, this ROM is not based (loosely or otherwise) on any Samsung ROM. It's built from source AOSP base with patches from all over the place.
Makes me wonder where Omni left off with their multi-window. I haven't been following it lately.
Thanks so much for the time and work you put into this. I love seeing more roms for this great device!

Yeah I assumed it did, I wish I could run a nice feature rich rom but I use multi window probably 80% of my time on this tablet. I almost always have YouTube on one half and chrome the other like right now haha. Wish there was a way to keep it or an alternative but thanks anyways.
Luckily my nexus 5 feeds my rom itch nicely. For now I'll just stay with CleanROM.

Dear @arrrghhh I am not a developer, but I have a little guess as to what might be causing the FC's on the google keyboard. The keyboard learns the user style and way of writing (if you see the T it has many settings that are probably intefering with the absence on Knox.
I'm excited about Carbon for this device, but seeing that there's been no activity in the thread for over a week has me wondering if something is wrong with it. I'm using cm 11 right now and it's very stable if lacking in features.

CarbonFibers has a FC issue which has been resolved... but some of the customizations are still lacking because the CF app isn't really setup for tablets at the moment... so the experience is a bit off. I didn't see the value in updating until the issue is completely fixed, as most of the reason to run the ROM is in that area .
That makes sense. I'll follow the thread for updates. This is the closest ROM to SlimKat, which is my favorite.

Nope, I have no intentions of doing a slim build. I was trying that to sanity check that I had things configured well enough to make it easy for people to use the CM device tree to build other ROMs.
I had it booting and working reasonably well except that there were external sdcard problems (at the very least the lack of exfat support).
I do think I had to cherry pick missing commits into a few slim repos but I have forgotten what that was.

Ah ok. I'll roll a SlimKat build too, see how that runs... I haven't really seen any of these on a tablet, so it's kind of interesting to see the difference. Carbon, at least CarbonFibers definitely has some work to be done for tablets.

I wonder if SlimKat will have better luck, since it doesn't centralize all of its features into one thing like Carbon Fibers. I think they just added the 2014 Note 10.1 as officially supported. I have no idea if there's any similarities between that and our Tab Pro or if that would help even if there were.

It's definitely a bit quirky - and the issue with CarbonFibers is still present... but Bluetooth works great, so my builds of Slim must be missing something else outside of the device tree...
Great Rom
Just flashed new build. Works great so far. Thanks for the work.
So is this ROM finished now where there are no more updates going to be done?

little lag in games
its a little lag in games but its great man !! i w8 ur next release man ! keep it up !!
Thanks Meticulous, for another ROM option for SGP. My son loves your beanstalk ROM performance on his SGP. I like Carbon ROM on my SGP.

Thanks Friend. Happy to see the device in main stream. Appreciate much
I've got the Rom up and running and everything seems to be fine except The settings menu!
Tapping on performance gives me a settings FC every time
The Carbon fibres menus are completely bizarre!
'Device Tunables' is completely blank,
'interface' is blank most of the time but some things pop up on occasion
'Lockscreen' is the same - blank but seemingly at random will show me some options
Navigation' - Blank
Persistence - seems ok!!!!
'Pie' - Blank
'Power Menu' is ok
'Status bar' - under battery sometimes gives me the Navigation Menu, has given battery options once but is usually blank and the other tabs are temperamental.
Anyone else noticed this odd behaviour?
---------- Post added at 09:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:48 PM ----------
AH! It's something to do with having a split screen settings (>600x1024 in Xposed App Settings) When I switch this off it (mostly) works.
'Device Tunables' is still blank though.. Is it meant to be?
and what is 'Persistence' anyway?
Loop Devices
Does this device have a kernel with loop device support?
Love the rom

[UNOFFICIAL] AOSPA PA 5.1.1 Builds

As there doesn't seem to be a PA 5.1 Build thread and zero official builds around since the 02/02 I thought I would start up my old build machine and TRY to do daily builds of PA 5.1.1 for everyone.
IMPORTANT
I am not responsible if your phone blows up or turns into a gremlin after midnight.
If there are NO changes to gerrit there will be no updates to the OP
For anyone coming from 5.0.x to 5.1.x please refer to the thread below for bootloader etc.

Please read before asking any questions.
Any issues do a FACTORY RESET and CLEAN INSTALL
I am NOT a dev just a guy doing builds of PA so any requests for code changes or cherry picking will be ignored

Not knocking your efforts but PA updates things like once a week, what's the point of daily builds?

thats not necessarily true. I had a few devices when the updates only came every other month. It really depends on the maintainers and the developers for said devices.

I'm referring to github not how often they push builds. For example, there has been very little activity since the middle of February. Building daily is going to result in the exact same rom 4 or 5 days a week.

If you took the time to read the OP I stated "If there are NO changes to gerrit I will update this thread accordingly."
This means if there are no changes I won't be doing any builds and will state this on the OP so people know.

now really can't life without PA I like it so much any very sad cuz no update from 2/2

PA is gonna die a slow death I think because most of the brain trust is gone to the other OS.. At least the other one will probably get the best features. They are getting ready to release the first version of there operating system on the one plus and all this is really is a mildly improved version of aosp without any paranoid features. Kind of sad for all their rabid PA or die followers. Finaly get a phone that runs PA and development grinds to a halt.

says who? you? they have already answered this, the 6 members going to ONE+ is no different than them having jobs in the US while working with PA. Stop spreading this fud people, PA is not going away. The team has been getting hounded left and right and is really discouraged because people are so upset a rom isn't being pushed out daily/weekly/whatever they want. Development is continuous, look at their gerrit and youll see daily they are working on stuff but everyone is busy with life. Pirate just started a new job. Andre goes to school and has a life, you guys just need to relax a little. Ill repeat this again for the special kids on this forum, no one has left PA, again NO ONE HAS LEFT PA.

you are very wrong, look at gerrit there are changes made DAILY and if they aren't made daily its every few. You are looking at github wrong if you are seeing changes only from middle of feb. If you are going to try and jump down someones throat at least understand what you are looking at.

First off, the conversation was over. Stop trying to be the internet white knight. I didn't jump down anybody's throat.
2nd off, there have been 19 commits merged since Feb 19th and almost all have been theme related cherry picks from CM. If you're going to attempt to call someone out you should probably make sure that person is wrong.
Sorry OP, I will not be responding to the XDA kiddies in your thread anymore. I wish you luck with your rom.

19 commits shows development is still going, whether its 1 or 2, its still work being done. You said they only seem to update things once a week, which is again wrong if you look at their gerrit. You guys make it seem like they are doing nothing and not updating. Hopefully all these children move to different roms so we can enjoy PA

About Us:
Dirty Unicorns is a project that started out with no name. It was a project that was first based off AOKP back in the early days of Jelly Bean. In the early days it was just a one man show on one device, the EVO 3D. Since then, many others have joined the project and it has grown exponentially.
We have seen a lot of talent contribute to this project of ours. Big or small, the focus was always on contributing to the community. That is ultimately why we do what we do. After Jelly Bean, we decided to move to a new base, OmniROM. While AOKP was fun, OmniROM proved to be even more exciting base because it challenged us to see what we could do with a project that had different goals in mind. We learned a lot and again, gain contributors. With Lollipop, we moved to an AOSP base with a lot of patches from CAF to make our older devices function as they should. We grew even more and learned a whole lot more.
It has been an awesome learning experience and is still not over! We are still learning every day and continue to move forward. Lastly, we DO NOT accept, nor ask, for donations. We don't believe in that. Everything that is necessary to keep this project going is out of our own pocket. Gerrit, Jenkins, Websites, Devices, etc. We will never ask for a dime. All we do ask, is that you have patience, search, read and try to enjoy the process with us!!

I'm getting a FC from the theme chooser, what gives?
This is due to restoring data/apps from Google. Go ahead and clear data and cache for theme chooser and theme provider then reboot you should be good moving forward.
I changed my LCD density and now the navbar looks weird, what gives?
This is currenly an issue that we are aware of and addressing. For now after you changed density reset navbar layout or stay on the stock density.

Switching from Fulmics 5.3
I have been a fan of AOSP and CM-based ROM since I started fiddling Android devices. But for the first time, I used stock rom in LG G3 due to the fact that the camera performs better (according to my readings) than AOSP-based rom, mainly shooting 4K videos, time-lapse and slow-mo. But I hate the fact that the battery drains fast, overheating issues, and it lags a lot, as in a lot. I have to restart a couple of times to get my phone to work on some time.
I used Dirty Unicorn on my previous Android device (HTC One M7), and I was happy with its performance. So I'm considering this ROM, but I use my phone as a daily driver, so reinstalling apps is a bit hassle, especially coming from stock ROM. And I use camera a lot, so is there any alternative to this?
Thank you for those who will answer

Well the camera which comes with this ROM is snapdragon camera which is by far the best I've used on any AOSP/CM rom. I'd also suggest Google camera.

Yes 4K is there. As for battery, I average off anywhere between 3.5 to 4.5 hours.
TBH you just have to try it for yourself. If it suits your preference then good, otherwise look for something else. Usage and battery life depends on user to user. This is the only CM based rom which gives me good battery life along with temasek. So you should try everything as it'll give you a better insight

and how about the SOT? does it last for 3h or more?and what kernel os recommended with this ROM?

I don't use xposed on CM/AOSP roms. Causes system to misbehave sometimes. But feel free to use it. And no, I don't use greenify. As per kernel, leave it to default and see how it performs
