[Q] Can not flash rom's for UB - Xperia P - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi folks. After unlocking the bootloader via Flashtool on my XP, I still can't flash any UB Rom's. When start instaling any time it says error (status 7) I'm getting so pissed off with this. Please someone to help.

Let's put it to a test then.
Which ROM and what steps have you done?

flash stock rom first and then full wipe before installing.

So, i'm flashing [UB] [4.4.2] Unofficial Carbon Builds (Nightly#1) over [JB]Honami MW HD™ V8 Ultimate following theese steps:
1. Make sure you have CWM installed and a working nandroid backup.
2. Download the ROM.
3. Place the ROM in your SD-Card.
4. Reboot to recovery.
5. Wipe Data
6. Flash the ROM.
Optional- Flash gApps.
7. Reboot and Enjoy.
However I manage to remove status 7 error, thanks to this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302599&nocache=1
But still getting error during flashing it. I read somewhere that unlocked bootloder won't work if I have the latest OTA updates, but I don't know if I have them. How to check if my BL is unlocked properly? Thanks!

Extract boot.img and flash it with fastboot after step 3, this usually needed.

Is it error flashing gapps or rom. I have no problem flashing it.
Sent from my Xperia P using Tapatalk

Obviously I'm not able to flash any 4.4.x rom. Just SlimBean went ok during flashing. Damn... I'm so pissed
Anybody know the reason?

As @ChikeD said did you fastboot the boot.img?
Sent from my Xperia P using Tapatalk

Yes I did it and still getting error.

Did you flash the boot.img first and then the rom?
No offence but your description of how the error occurred needs a bit more information. Give us more details over what you have done and in what steps, and then I'm sure we can help you.

First time I flashed my phone it didnt work proper.
So I flashed the boot.img again and then updated with the update.zip (after resetting everything ) in the phone a second time and then it worked.

(SOLVED) Getting Failures in every single ROM installation

Folks, someone please help me out.
desperate situation here.
Xperia mini 15sti : rooted, unlocked bootloader, busyboxed, RecoveryX installed (version for 2.3.4) - firmware 4.0.42 version : gingerbread
None of the ROMs I've downloaded have worked so far. Everything results in an error or another. It is incredible how difficult I'm finding this to be.
CM10 : gives me assert errors. Saying its not smultron. I've removed the assert check in updater, then it starts giving me installation aborted after some time.
CM9 : same assert error
ParanoidAndroid : symlink errors during installation
AOKP : installation fails with set path something
I've spent countless hours on finding out the root cause of my problem - but given that everything fails, I am guessing there is something elementary that is missing (or wrong in my approach)
I'm on android gingerbread, and trying to jump to either JB or ICS nothing really works here (I follow the usual wipe data cache everything with every single install attempt so far. And then start with rooting flashing firmware back to 4.0.42, then recoverX, then new ROM etc)
please help
Dhruv
Did you unlock your bootloader? If you haven't unlocked your bootloader none of the above mentioned Roms will work with you. (after unlocking the bootloader you need to flash a custom kernel according to the Rom you are flashing, via fastboot).

Okay your bootloader is unlocked for sure. now let's get to the rom part. Download any custom Rom for st15i based on stock Sony Rom. Try to flash it in CWM recovery. And if it throws any errors then please reply with each and every letter it says in error in the recovery while flashing . ONLY FLASH A gingerbread Rom based on stock Rom! Okay, let me tell step by step tell what should be done.
1. Flash rage kernel for gb (3.0)(fixed)
2. Download any stock based gb Rom for your device . For example , clean and tweaked gingerbread Rom by serjar. Place the rom zip in the root of your sd card.
3.Reboot into CWM recovery (included in rage kernel no need to flash CWM separately)
4. Do factory wipe from CWM.
5. Flash the Rom zip from CWM . In the example case it is clean and tweaked gingerbread Rom from serjar .
If flashing throws any errors then post the error here.

No I think notepad++ does that by default. What you need to see is that it didnt give any assert error, tried to install for a while .. and then gave the error : installation aborted
Secondly, I'm getting errors in every single ROM out here. Now trying the GB rom .. will post the results, and thanks for assisting so far mate

Update! Cyanogenmod 7.2 installed OK. So gingerbread is installing
Is it because of RecoverX then? Because while installing RecoverX it asks which version of xperia mini do you want - and I use android 2.3.4 - could it be the recovery not letting JB or ICS install then? Its 5.0.2.8 or something the one that I have
Pl let me know what to do next. cheers
Notepad doesn't change eol to Unix by default. After installing a prerooted kernel you don't have to use recovery x . after all that's the point in a preroot kernel! It comes with root and CWM recovery in built! Now what? Start flashing Roms, kernels and start exploring the infinite possibilities of android!
and hit the thanks button, it's more appreciated than typing thanks

For ICS or JB you don't need recoverx, if you use a custom kernel you can just flash the kernel and it has cwm inbuilt.
1. Just push the FXP cm10 zip for your device to sd card, flash the boot.img,
2. boot in cwm,
3. backup,
4. wipe data/factory reset,
5. install zip from sd card,
6. (if you want install the google apps=gapps) :good:
Problem was with CWM ... once I installed a GB custom ROM, the recovery was flashed to 6.0 something automatically
Every single ROM I tried to install after has worked flawlessly.
I have an xperia Mini, and it just doesnt work though, so I'm opening another thread on the overheating issue (which doesnt get solved no matter what you do)
thanks

hi all,
i tried the methods mentioned in the links pos9ted earlier to upgrade the phone to ICS first using SEUS and hen root it. unfortunately it did not work out. i can confirm that the steps mentioned were done correctly. what i have done is have downgraded to Gb and then rooted it. Post that i have installed a custom rom. is there any way i can install a custom rom for ICS now?
AW: How to install ICS based rom on a rooted Mini pro
for most custom roms you need to unlock your bootloader, or look if the rom you like to have is for locked bootloader too. for some roms you need to flash different kernel first. i would suggest you to flash a prerooted kernel with built in recovery. then you can install new rom via that recovery.
For installing custom roms like cm etc you need to unlock bootloader, if you don't want to do that go here and find a rom that does not need bootloader unlock. if you didn't unlock bl, download xparts and install cwm.
for unlocking, go here
then go here find a custom rom, copy zip to sd card, extract boot.img to pc, flash boot.img in fastboot mode of flashtool or fastboot, boot device, enter cwm and flash zip from sd.
thank mihann for the excellent guide.
hope it helped

Actually I lost the steps/procedures I followed when I unlocked, rooted, and installed this custom rom i have. So what I did was to look under my memory bank but unfortunately, I just recalled a few. Of course, there was no more unlocking of bootloader and rooting(flashmode) done because it was already unlocked and rooted during my first update/installation, I just wipe cache, dalvik-cache and wipe date/factory reset using cwm recovery. After that, I flashed the JB ROM still using cwm recovery, reboot it on recovery and wipe cache, dalvik-cache and wipe date/factory reset then reboot. My phone restarted but only up to the sony custom rom logo. Can you please help?

Keep in mind that ROM makers don't have means to test too many situations, so they have tested it in one way the know it would work, anything that have not not been tested would probably fail.

Help to install ExistenZ V3.00

Hi, sorry for the ignorance , but would need to have the .314 version to install this rom? If so, I would like to know how to downgrade, I'm 17.1.2.A.0.323, thank you very much in advance

No...
You don't have to downgrade.
Niaboc added boot.img to ROM (kernel) and everything will be fine without downgrading.
You need to have working recovery on your current ROM, that's all.
Just restart to recovery, wipe everything and flash ROM.
There are reported problems with Aroma (symlink error at the end of flashing, if you get that error, don't restart, just flash again but this time only hit next all the time, don't change anything in Aroma)

You don't need to downgrade. Just apply the instructions in ROM's thread.
No need to downgrade or open a new thread if the steps are very clear.
Read again and understand !!

No need. If you read install instructions carefully you'll get your answer. Just flash it by the book and the rom will brilliantly do all the work for you!
