[ROM][AOSPA][HALO][PIE][PEEK] Unofficial ParanoidAndroid 4.3 Nightlies (Vanilla or HALO) [BETA 6] - Nexus 5 Android Development

[ROM][AOSPA][HALO][PIE][PEEK] Unofficial ParanoidAndroid 4.3 Nightlies (Vanilla or HALO) [BETA 6]
Details:
As of right now, these builds do not include Hover. The ParanoidAndroid team is still cleaning up the source code and will release it when they see fit. As soon as they do, I'll include it in my builds. Pie AND Peek are now included.
I've been making nightly builds of ParanoidAndroid for a while, and I figured I might as well share them for anyone who's interested. Some people are interested in just the latest nightlies with the merged codes from the gerrit, and for them I have a clean build with exactly that. Whatever changes are officially merged in gerrit are in these nightlies. However, I know some people, including myself, are also interested in using Halo on my Nexus 5. For those people, I also have a build that is exactly the same, but with Halo added. Download whichever you're interested in!
I didn't change anything from the PA team, so the kernel and everything else is the PA team's work. Depending on the latest merges, I may or may not edit a few lines so that Halo still works with the newest changes.
Disclaimer:
Your warranty is now void. Use at your own risk.
In other words: It is your choice to use this software,
I am not responsible for any damage or problems you may have.
Changelog:
For the latest changes added, check the merged section of the PA gerrit, found here. You can also check my most recent post in the thread. With every new build, I'll post a changelog and direct link to the builds in the thread.
Installation instructions:
Coming from another ROM
1. Do a nandroid backup (enter recovery -> backup)
2. Wipe system, data, and cache
3. Flash ROM + Gapps
4. Reboot and enjoy
Coming from official ParanoidAndroid or an older nightly

Note: I won't build and upload a new nightly if there's nothing new to add. If there isn't a new nightly for the day, then check the gerrit before PMing me to ask for a new build.

Sweet, thanks man, gonna try it out now...
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

thanks for sharing. I had been able to merge halo until around the beta 4 merges, so thank you!
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Out of curiosity - why isn't PA doing this themselves if it works fine?

'Cause they're working on a whole new version for kitkat.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

jabza, this works great! why don't you submit your merges for the halo framework and settings to the AOSPA github?

They want their official releases to be 100% rock solid stable. With these nightlies, you might run into some bugs here or there. With 4.4, the PA team has a new philosophy where they want the user experience to be as close to stock (and bug-free) as possible.
That being said, I've run into almost no bugs in running PA nightlies, so it's probably a "just in case" sort of thing.

Woops, sorry. I didn't see your post earlier; it must've showed up while I was typing my response to the other. And because the PA team is still working on it, so they don't want it merged yet. Besides, I'm not doing much besides compiling it, so it's predominantly their work. If I make any significant patches, though, they'll be submitted to the gerrit.

it seems most of the recent merges have been rebasing and resolving conflicts, so i don't think the PA team would mind if you shared your conflict resolutions to get Halo working!

To anybody getting antsy, I haven't uploaded a new nightly recently because there haven't been any changes since the last one. Thus, there's no use spending time building/uploading one and having you download it, as it'll be the exact same ROM.

I've been wanting Halo back, but don't have the patience to wait for the PA team. Thanks for this.

Same here, and I know I'm not the only one, so that's why I decided to put this up. :good:
Also, for anyone who's interested, they've merged more again today and I posted new builds. Here was the only change from the gerrit:

Old. They haven't released the new halo code anywhere. Though, it should be noted that they've made improvements to halo since PA v3; the "new" halo is mostly just a change in color.

Thanks for this, only issue can't seem to get halo to use hangout as default SMS app.. any ideas?

What do you mean? Do you mean Halo doesn't open Hangouts when you get an SMS or do you mean Hangouts isn't staying set as your default SMS app? Which Gapps did you use?
Either way, it seems to work fine for me.

Just updated the OP with new builds uploaded to my Drive; MediaFire didn't want to upload them today for some reason. Anyways, for those of you keeping yourselves updated, this is a big one. The PA team merged a lot of new changes today, and it was mostly bug fixes and technical details, with a few more notable exceptions.
ParanoidOTA 2.0
Code:
- Removed su access
- Built in /system/priv-app
- Lock android sdk version to 19
- Added README
- Removed recovery settings
- openrecoveryscript and extendedcommand are created to give support for both recoveries at the same time
PS2: Update message for newer gapps if there's no update
Prevent showing an error message if at least one mirror is working
PS3: Back to date as a string (to deal with date+letter gapps version)
Show file size for goo files
Update fragment: use roboto thin font
PS4: Change commit message
PS5: New cards ui layout
Serveral bug fixes
Add support for gapps micro packages
Simplified application flow
PS6: Fix rotation issues
Change some ugly strings
Remove cache access (no need for it)
PS7: Fix NPE
PS8: Beautify the code
Save cards expanded state
PS9: Cards' buttons fit better in the card
Go to download card when starting the app and there's a download
PS10: Readd cache permission
PS11: Fix flow issues
PS12: Use installed pa_gapps as default value in settings
PS13: Modified layout for tablets in landscape
Disable 'cancel download' button until the download really starts
Rework Notification LED
Code:
Rework notification LED a bit.
* Clean up code, improve logic.
PS6: According to android writing style update string for "OK"
https://developer.android.com/design/style/writing.html
PS7: Whitespaces.
Other than that, it's mostly fixes for memory leaks, WiFi bugs, a couple lock screen bugs, and some updated translations. Either way, there were tons of changes, so check it out!

I think the build number stays the same from the last time you did a clean flash. But if you go to the ParanoidOTA app and it has a card based UI, you know you got the changes. The build date in phone settings is just inaccurate.

Seriously, since you posted on twitter that there was a chance of a release, I've checked every 20min!

Just adding a Torch.apk that works with this ROM, credits go to DT

I got it to boot by flashing Franco along with it, it will probably work with others too but I'm not too sure, I just used Franco because it was included in the last release.
Good luck
Edit: torch toggle doesn't work by default, I installed the AOKP torch.apk and it still isn't working, anybody have any ideas?

thanks, I forgot about the toolkit.
pushed the kernel over and flashed, and now it's booting.
So no one has got it to load on a different kernel than Franco? That's weird.

Running beautiful for me, its the smoothest feeling ROM I've had running on my Nexus 4, plus, now it has some awesome features
Top marks guys.
only franco kernel compatible
I think I know the answer to this, but is it possible to just wipe cache and dalvik coming from the liquid smooth alpha rom? Probably not right?
I've just got things set up really good on the alpha build.
And I take it you just flash the ROM then immediately flash Franco kernel in order to get the ROM booting?

Couple of bugs to note, for me anyway.
1. Home button doesn't work. On move it should show previews of home screen by default when pressed. I got nothing. I tried switching it to app drawer, still nada.
2. In the quick settings, pressing the settings tile does nothing.
Love the extra customizations. Smooth as you like.

Description:
This is a standard base CM10.1 built from source, (latest nightly as of date-posted) optimized via the Linaro 4.7 (stable) toolchain, with the SGT7 framework, launcher, settings enhancements, as well as various well-tested and entirely stable GIT Cherry-Picks.
This ROM will mainly appeal to people who desire a stock-like CM10.1 experience with a more feature-rich embeded interface.
This rom is clean, slick, smooth, and customizable.
Most of the things you want with this rom are found in settings -> system or trebuchet settings.
Known issues:
1. Any CyanogenMod issues.
2. Any Halo issues (including inability to install apps until you disable halo in settings -> system -> HALO).

As a matter of common courtesy, if you intend to download this rom, please hit the Thanks button.
The nightly builds can be found at http://www.goo.im/devs/asf58967/t0lte/fsc_nightlies/
Do not post with errors in Nightly builds; I do not want to hear it! These are simply the latest repo sync with SGT7 and CM10.1. Changes and cherry picks are not incorporated to the nightly build, unless they are dated after the latest stable build.
Unless there is an error with the build machine, or it crashes, there should be a fresh build every day. Do not notify me if there is no fresh build. Just assume the server had an issue, and I already know about it.
The nightly build server is still experimental, and I am working out the kinks. If you see a build on the server, it should be fine to use; however, you must keep in mind that I am not flashing or testing the nightly builds, so have a nandroid backup and use at your own risk.

I think that slow wakeup s related to recent CM merge. I think I may be able to fix that with a fresh mere tomorrow. It was happening on my other device too but never happened before
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
My nightly server has been configured to add this device to the build queue.
So, tonight the nightlies will begin. They are the SGT7 enhancements (http://www.github.com/sgt7) with the latest CM10.1 merges.
Only the stable builds will include any recent cherry picks, etc. (although I haven't done any for this device yet).
New stable builds will be released every couple weeks, based on the most stable of the recent nightlies, with cherry picks added.
So, if your a flashaholic who needs all the most recent CM10.1 merges every day, you can use the nightlies.
I am going to add an OTA feature soon, I am just busy with my bar exam in 2 weeks in real life right now.
The nightlies will be at http://www.goo.im/devs/asf58967/t0lte/fsc_nightlies/
If its not there yet, the script hasn't run yet. but unless the server encounters an error (which may happen since I haven't debugged the t0lte script yet), there should be a fresh nightly starting today.
The ROM is great. By the quick settings is the size not correct.

Interesting I have never seen that nor has anyone repprted it... Is that just on the last nightly?
Did you change any DPI settings?
Was it like this right after install?
Did you do a wipe (what did u wipe? )
Can you try a factory reset?
Does the quick settings pulldown show like that or just the settings options.

Hi,
Are you tired of your current ROM that has limited features? Are looking for one that you want to customize by yourself? Well here's the ROM for you. Have a minute to read and hopefully you'll be encouraged to test it.
This is The GN0M3 Project. This ROM has no customizations whatsoever. You will be the one to customize this, It's a fast clean stock ROM with under the hood speed enhancements and some personal tweaks. You would need to install GApps for both builds. With this ROM, you will have a Fast, Clean, Stock experience.
Why did I say "You'll be the one to customize it?"
Well, It's because I already integrated the Xposed framework into the ROM settings. And If you're going to ask me "Why no customizations and why with the Xposed framework only?" It's because some of the famous features of some Custom ROMs are already in one of the Xposed Modules, you just need to find them.
Anyways, this ROM will stay stock and only speed enhancements will be implemented, and also I will just focus on stability and such. The customizations you would want will be in one of the Xposed Modules. I'll just give you a stock, clean, snappy ROM and it's up to you to customize it.
Off topic is welcome in this thread as long as you RESPECT each other.
In a nut shell: "This is the do it yourself customization ROM"
To know more about Xposed Framework. Go here: CLICK ME!!! or HERE!!!
For people wondering whats the story behind this ROM is, here's a brief explanation:
I built this ROM based on Google's concept of Android of letting end users customize Android as the way that they want to. And yes we all did a lot of that since Custom ROM's appeared in different ways. But, some of them only have limited features that other end users doesn't really use them. So that brought up the idea to make a ROM that incorporates Google's concept of putting the customization into the end users hands. So in a nut shell this ROM will give you the ability to customize it whatever you want to do with it, and thanks to the Xposed Framework app, it is possible now. But of course not all features of other custom ROM's are already in some xposed modules, but as development grows it's not impossible to have them in some modules. Well, that's about it, hope people would now understand why I built this for the community.
Cheers and Happy Customizing!
As per XDA rules all non-development related questions should be posted in the conjoining Q&A/T Thread, Development questions in this thread like bugs and such. So here's the link for the Q&A Thread:

Sm 4.9 toolchain
For People who wants to work on their ROM to build it with SM 4.9, I'll be uploading all my file changes to my git. There's a lot so you really need patience with this. For CM 10.2 you can check @IAmTheOneTheyCallNeo's Git to get the commits for SM Toolchain to work. I got the Idea from there and modified some to make it work on AOSP. Went through trial and errors but its part of it. Anyways, just check out my git.
How to get Toolchain
Sabermod 4.9 Toolchain
Code:
mkdir arm-linux-androideabi-4.9
cd arm-linux-androideabi-4.9
git clone https://github.com/SaberMod/android_prebuilts_gcc_linux-x86_arm_sabermod-arm-linux-androideabi-4.9
Then after cloning, copy the directory to your $ source/prebuilts/gcc/linux-x86/arm/ Folder, Then after that the modifications and patching begins.

Is there some sort of thread that compiles alll these different version names in order of release? I've looked around but all these JLS, JSS etc. are confusing.
Also, wasn't the previous Gn0m3 version on JSS15R? Anything different with these updates and with SM 4.9.0?

I updated it to JLS36G since it's the newer revision, and this current build is built with the SM 4.9 Toolchain, the previous one is GCC 4.8, SM Toolchain has a lot of tweaks and patches that make it perform better. JLS36G is pure AOSP and JWR66Y is a modified stock version for people who does'nt want the deadlocks. Don't have time to merge both builds yet since I had a lot of time making SM 4.9 to work(A lot of patches to be applied). Hope that answers your question
Good job :good:

.:How to make a Log_Cat:.
Ok so some folks have no clue how to get a log_cat to show errors or FC's, here is how to do it:
1. Grab your self a log_cat app such as aLogcat (free) - logcat or Log Viewer (logcat) or similar.
2. If your issue IS NOT CONSTANT REBOOTS then after installing one of the above apps or similar then open it up and attempt to do what you did to get the error or FC. Then go back to the log_cat app and export the file for us to view.
3. Edit the log_cat if your familiar to show the error or not if your unfamiliar.
4. If your issue is constant reboots then you need to plugin via usb to your pc and get the log_cat via adb or using an adb app for win or ubuntu such as Android Commander or Droid Explorer
5. Once log_cat is exported/gathered POST IT IN THIS THREAD. Dont matter how. Link it, use '[ code ] [ /code ]' (<- without spaces of course), or your choice just get us the info.
.:Wickedest Tip Ever for XDA'ers:.Ok so Ima take this moment to add a wicked tip to make your xda reading ability much better. Some peeps know, some dont.
So basically in the xda app via your pc click on your USER CP -> Edit Options -> Number of Posts to Show Per Page -> select 50.
In the xda android app go to (if your rocking the latest version btw) more -> settings -> Posts per page -> select 50.
I cant tell you how many times Ive read peeps complaining about having to go through hundreds of pages to read 10 posts at a time. Please do your self a favor and change the above two settings. You wont regret it.
.:Choicest Theme:.

Ok so in the above screen shots you see two different colored shots. I rock the red theme. It's called HueRed. It's the best all red theme I've seen in a long time. I recommend it. Go here to get it. Here is a link to kroz's theme page. He is an awesome themer and totally deserves credit!

Attention
This is an ongoing project being developed by the SlimRoms team.
As it is an ongoing project, many features have yet to be included yet as they are still being implemented and tested.
I will do my best to keep this rom updated alongside the official releases(maybe even more so(mid-weeklies)) but the rom is not perfect...yet
I am not responsible for anything that may occur during the usage of this ROM. You chose to flash it, you take the consequences
IMPORTANT
I may be looking into possibly giving the project over to a new maintainer

Q: where is superuser?
A: "advanced options>superuser"

Good work man. You worked through it. I'll play with this tomorrow.
Runs solid for me. Very smooth and stable. SMS/MMS works great. Camera works. Have not tested calling. I had to install SU and I can't find performance, but that may be by design (not sure).

i should probably make a FAQ
you have to enable developer settings and then turn root on
when that happens performance comes and superuser is in there by default
ill make an FAQ now
EDIT: no performance options yet
I had already done what you suggested I just can't find performance options. Could be my issue. This build is really solid. Loving it. Great first build.
