Rom questions - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I just got my note 3. Previously had the HTC one. Since I'm new to this forum for the note what roms in your opinion are best?

The "best" one will be the one that's got all the features you're looking for!
These threads get shut down quick, because there's no such thing. And we (collectively, as note3 owners) can't be assed to answer a new thread about this every other day.
They're all pretty solid. You know what to do. (back it up, flash a few!)

Ok I get you. Just trying to get a feel of what people here like. It's like moving to a new state and trying to figure out the best places to eat. Thanks again

general idea: the threads with the most activity tend to get the most fan, and usually means they're the ones that get the most dev attention.
anything by mjcollum is always good, for a start.

Best is in the eye of the beholder, as XDA is not a support site, members are expected to make this determination on their own based on reading and studying of products offered in the development threads.

Where's your Rom at? Are you working on anything?
Ok, here's what happens, the devs here are great, and have the potential to be on par as any other devs that have been on xda for a long time. They are working on lots of stuff, yes, many are broken, that's mostly HTC's Fault for releasing half asked sources, and making things different, but there's another issue... The users here want all this stuff badly! So you can somehow blame the impatience of wanting something new.

The broken ROMs Arnt for people like you, they are dev releases so other devs could work on it, keeping things open source keeps things better

Tutorials are sorely lacking around here. I'm fairly technically savvy, much moreso than the average person. But even for me it's pretty daunting for somebody that's relatively new to rooting and flashing ROMs to actually follow through with it. Most of the step by step guides require a masters in Android before you can even understand them. Between kernels, radios, AOSP/AOKP, CWM/TWRP, nandroid, dalvik, Odin, GAPPS, format/wipe, different kinds of backups... it's pretty crazy. I know it sounds so simple to people who are familiar with it, but trust me, to many people it's not. Especially with a device that costs so much money and you have to make sure everything is compatible with one another. The developers in here do a great job of creating a ton of this stuff to use but it doesn't seem like the most welcoming place for beginners or "n00bs". Seems most questions or problems are treated by saying "you didn't read enough" or "you screwed up" which isn't very helpful. Part of the problem is that guides and tutorials become obsolete and out of date so quickly, yet people don't want to give new advice because something similar is covered in a 6+ month old tutorial.
So long story short... any new tutorials are welcome! I'm considering rooting and putting liquid JB on my Note but feel like it's safer to just wait for the stock upgrade at this point. I "upgraded" my old HTC Magic back in the Cupcake/Donut days to a CM build with new radios/kernels/SPLs or something, and could never un-do it and ended up making the phone useless.
Another excellent thread ....
With your permission I'll gladly add this into the super thread.
It is tireless work like this, that sets the note section apart as the Premier place to be.
I have every intention of using the note 1 for several years to come for the very reason I stated above.
The members and contributors are beyond compare ...
Many thanks ....g

stick with the amaze or...

hey guys. will eventually be rooting and playing around with some roms in the next few weeks such as cyanogen, speed, etc. I really want to use my amaze, dont feel like getting a new phone right now.
do you guys think I should just stick with the amaze and custom roms or just get a new phone?

Damn, beat me to it
Might as well get it over with. It's personal preference. There are some GREAT ROMS for this AMAZING phone.
YOU are the only one who can decide if YOU wanna spend some cash on a new phone. Chicks dig the Amaze. Our Devs work hard to hook us up.
That said, no one cares if you buy a new phone or hang with the Amaze. If you are asking if this phone is still technologically sound the answer is YES...again depending on your needs.
Hope that helps.
My bad for not searching more in depth to see if this was asked.

Don't go there, your laziness is what prompted their response and mine. RULE # 1 is to SEARCH before posting. Merry Christmas.
Haven't checked the amaze forum since yesterday and the useless thread and 'what phone are you upgrading to etc' are both in the 10 most recent threads... Having to search would even be a stretch, simply looking at any other threads on the first page would have lead you to the right place.

Thread closed, enough drama, Thank You.

Please Create Carrier Specific LG G2 Threads.

Right now we only have carrier specific threads for development. While those are needed and appreciated I am finding it extremely difficult to learn or locate carrier specific information on xda. The threads for general, Q&A, accessories, and themes are crossing over each other and its like wading thru a swamp of information. I am personally on sprint and I have found myself ending up in threads that have nothing to do with sprint hoping to find fixes or ideas that dont even apply to my model. Frankly, its very frustrating. I can from the photon, and my wife has the htc one. I have used xda for those models in the past, and still do, and can find informatikn specific to my carrier easily.
Can I use search? Sure I worked in the web search industry for over a decade but that doesnt help if I can choose a specific category (that category in this case being sprint). So searching for info in the lg g2 threads as they are now is like looking for a needle in a haystack.
I know there are other people who must feel the same as I do about this. Id simply like my experience in the lg g2 forums to be as good as it is in other places on xda. I dont know why the g2 forums were set up like this, but frankly its a nightmare content wise. It would also help development further by breaking out info carrier by carrier.
Mods, we need carrier specific forums for the g2. Please add yourself to this post of you feel the same way. Those that dont can start a different thread to leave things the same as they are now. This if for those that feel doing this would improve their g2 experience on xda.

Not really. There's a specific GS3 forum for each variant, and other Samsung devices. XDA probably doesn't realize LG has a decent size customer base that use these forums so they don't give them the attention they deserve.
Theres fragmentation with every device specific to each carrier to one extent or another. Im not talking about throwing blame for this reason or that reason. However, I do want people to speak up on this so that XDA will address and fix the LG G2 forums. I spent time in the htc one forums for my wifes phone tonight and because its sprint specific I found what I needed in minutes. I cannot do that with the LG side of XDA. Its a mess. I dont know how developers can even follow things enough to help anyone or keep track of things.
This disorganizatikn gives me a new level of respect for them and the craziness they deal with to help the average schmoe like me.
Please this is much needed, all Samsung devices and other as well have carrier specific threads. LG G2 section is a huge mess.

You should have included a poll so the mods can have some numbers to look at to see how many people would like it split into carrier specific threads.
I didnt think about a poll, but Im hoping that people will take the time to chime in here if nothing else just to show support for the idea by saying "Yes, I want to have carrier specific threads as well!"
Poll created. Please add you vote!
I'd love to have a specific section for the vzw g2. It'd make it so much easier to find things and be able to post problems/questions specifically about the Verizon version.

Seems like Sprint has a large user base here. Didn't think this device was that popular on Sprint. It's actually nice to see more users on Sprint.

I already said this in a thread that got deleted... but, and no offense to anyone, but I'm personally sick of weeding through the broken English posts on here. I'd really like a Verizon specific forum, like Android central does. I've never dealt with a phone that was combined like this, and some of these posts just make me cringe lol
