[ROOT-METHOD] [4.2.2] custom superSU flashable zip (works on all 3 models) - Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 Android Development

This is a little flashable zip I put together to be used via cwm / twrp. This is not an official superSU zip, It's put together by me. Note that this will work just fine on all 3 tab 3 10.1 models but as for other devices, it will ONLY work on devices with an x86 processor. Download link and instructions are below.
Instructions (assuming you're completely stock)
1. Download the zip either directly on the device or on your computer. Place in the root of your sdcard.
2. Flash TWRP (via odin). twrp thread found here.
3. When flashing is complete, reboot into recovery.
4. Install the zip in TWRP. Wiping cache/dalvik is recommended, but not necessarily required.
5. reboot, wait for the "android is upgrading" message to be finished.
6. Let sit for about 5 minutes.
7. Reboot tab.
8. Let sit for about 10 minutes upon boot.
9. Open SuperSU and go to settings. Disable and then re-enable superuser.
10. Everything should now be working smoothly you can test root by downloading terminal emulator and typing "su" in the command line.
*note that this will also install busybox*

Should theoretically work with cwm, I highly reccomend twrp though, it's much more stable and reads your external SD card

Waiting first 5 minutes and before reboot it ask me to update binary. I do it before reboot second time ?
Edit: I haven't remove super utilisateur before...

If it works go for it. It might not let you update the binary without finishing the steps though

I reboot and wait 10 min but I must remove my old super utilisateur before.
My idea:
- remove super utilisateur
- Reboot and flash custom SuperSu
- wait 5 min before reboot
- wait 10 min....
No ?

That should do it. After that go into SuperSu and update the binary. If it won't update then to to SuperSu settings and disable then reenable superuser. Should update fine after that

Working fine with TWRP and CWM
Now the shell don't ask permissions every time, it's good.
Another question: what is the Nonsensical application in the drawer?

Just a little easter egg I include in all my work, it's supposed to be a little multi level brick breaker game but it seems to be crashing. You can fix the crash by reinstalling it from the apk if you're interested

Yep uninstalled and take it in the flashable ZIP, funny like Atari

I went over to the TARP homepage and I am very confused. I did not find a version for the GT - p5220 Tab 3 4.2.2. Can I use another version? I only want to root so I can remove those pesky bloat apps. I am not interested in custom ROMS or whatever. Any help would be appreciated.

I just upgraded to 4.4.2 on my p5210 model
will the root work in 4.4.2? :/

will the root work in 4.4.2

Same question here. Just updated to 4.4.2 >>> after sucessfull install on TWRP, once SuperSu starts.. it hangs up on App tab.. No response from settings when enable/disable...
PS: all wipes done, just in case.
Any thoughts?

Root works fine for me on 4.4.2 (customrom pimpdroid, Philz recovery)
Have you tried to update supersu? Here's the link:
download.chainfire.eu/452/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.02.zip
I'm on restless pimpdroid custom Rom and he said if there are problems with root, we should flash this file..

The super-su update works like a charm. Thx u guys!

[Q] Phone not compatible with android 4.3 ?

Hello
I tried everything but I can't use any 4.3 rom on my S3, it boots but when I try to reboot my phone don't go beyond the samsung bootscreen until I format my entire phone including internal SD card. I tried temasek builds, experimentals build, nightly builds, and I tried fresh install a dirty one, install over a fresh stock 4.1.2 and 4.2.2 flashed with odin, I tried fixing permissions on TWRP and CWM I tried everything but here is the fact, whatever I do I can't reboot my phone on Android 4.3 without formatting it.
I'm not a noob but I don't know what to do, I don't want to get stuck on 4.2.2 forever and now CM won't release any other nightly for CM 10.1
Thanks in advance

Nope, fresh start. My phone boot (without any data) and a reboot with or without any data leads to the big fail. I can use the phone but not rebooting..

I'd be really interested to find out if this works for the OP.
@Darius_AWS - what recovery do you have now?
TWRP and I used CWM as well it didn't change a thing...
It seems that a reboot corrupt the filesystem but i don't know how to avoid that...
Try with Philz as suggested.
Fresh install with Philz worked, you can't explain that but THANKS ! I'll give you thanks for your precious help guys you made my day
Phil has merged CM 10.2 sources into his recovery, where as older CWM's and TWRP have not / can not.
I can only assume it's something to do with that.
I've learned something today.
Me too !

[Solved]Blocked for the next steps to install Cyanogenmod 11 (YP-G1 INTL) by zaclimon

Hello all,
Just to announce I RTFM but my brain is maybe broken and I'm a little scared, so i'd rather like to ask before screaming like a baby
So my case:
My device: GP 4.0 YP-G1 Europe(INTL) stock ROM 2.3.6 and kernel stock 2.6.35.7-etc
I was lurking the developement on the galaxy player for 2 years and i decided to install the custom rom Cyanogen mod by Zaclimon.
So today, I read a lot, follow the steps for the specific rom:
-installed android-sdk, adb, rooted to save my efs(~6.25Mo) and when i was on the recovery(the basic one i guess) to flash the .zip, it screens "E:Short write of /tmp/sideload/package.zip (No space left on device)
Installation aborted."
But i have > 5 GB space (so it's not the problem)
So i tried to find a solution with Odin/Heimdall but i can't put on the pda field the zip rom 'cause zip it's not the good extension. I tried to find a solution to have a custom recovery, but i'm not sure if it's the good idea, because in the tutorial by Zaclimon, it's written "from stock do 1,2,3 bla bla"
So now I'm blocked and i would like to flash this device to thanks your works and use it as it should be from the beginning
So it would be nice if someone could help me ^^
PS: Sorry for my english

Did you flashed a custom kernel (terrasilent, klin) prior flashing the rom? You need to have CWM installed on the device so you can install CM11.
Envoyé de mon Nexus 7 en utilisant Tapatalk
here you can find a list of kernels and roms and stuff. look for the kernel that is compatible with your device and make sure it has clockworkmod. then you can flash that with odin. then when your boot into recovery it will be clockworkmod recovery :good:

I can cry now :crying:
My device seems to be bricked, I know that it can be repaired but more time wasted for you and me
So my steps to fuc* the process:
-I chose the terrasilent 1.3-5 kernel, flash it with Odin with Auto-Reboot and F. Reset time.
So the device worked good, booted to recovery try to find the cyanogenmod 11 zip in the sdcard, but the file recovery doesn't show me anything unless the external sdcard, so i rebooted 2-3 times, but always the same.
-So my brillant idea ... was to re-flash it with the re-partition box checked this time and BOOOM, FAIL + icon like a phone --- /!\ ---- PC on the GP
So please, now you can help the 100% broken brain.
Can't wait for your responses and help
PS: I have my efs.rfs
Seems like you bricked your player but their is no need to fear. Go to the Samsung thread where all ROMs mods and kernels are located and look for rjs kernel 14 Odin. Then download and go to Odin, then where it Say's PDA put that kernel there and flash and you should be in cwm 5.0.2.7 recovery. I bricked my galaxy player about 3 times so this should work. Also if you have a nandroid backup you can restore that only if its gingerbread.

If you used re-partition, you will most likely need to flash the full recovery stock rom for the 4.0 Intl models here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531850
When you'll flash it, you can then re-partition and it should return to normal. This mode you have is a sort of "forced" download mode. Don't worry about flashing stuff into it with Odin.

1. Good to see that it is working again.
2. You have to NOT check the re-partition case when you flash terrasilent.
3. Did the cm zip was in the internal storage? The /sdcard partition is often (if not always) recognized as the internal storage and not the actual SD card storage.
Also @troy5890 don't worry about it, you wanted to help so it's already better than some so would just skip that one.

I don't have any SD external card, but I knew that i have to set the zip in the "basic device storage".
To recall the process after my work:
1-flash the rooted stock rom 2.3.6 installed with terrasilent 1.3.5 with Odin with the re-partition UN-checked(like yesterday)
2-copy past the zip cyanogen mod 11 by zaclimon with my usb-PC connexion on the root of the storage card.
3-boot in to the CWM recovery
4-go to the "choose zip from sdcard’" line and choose the zip.
The step 4 was my problem yesterday(didn't see any files)
So do i need between the step like the 1st one and the second to wipe data/cache/Dalvik or it was only a bug yesterday ???
Thanks you for reading and help me

[URGENT HELP]
I was updating apps from playstore. So there was an update for superuser and i updated it as well. After the update superuser asked for some binary file update and had an option for installation through CWM/TWRP Recovery . Since i had it installed i selected that option and the phone botted to recovery and then nothing happened. I was expecting it to auto install. I try to reboot the phone but it boots to recovery everytime. What can i do to solve this? i dont want to flash a ROM because i need to backup contacts first
Next time, choose the "normal" option.
For your problem, reflash CWM through Odin or flash stock recovery.

With ODIN root and install TWRP. After that flash via TWRP SuperSU flashable ZIP and BusyBox, also flashable ZIP and you should be OK.

TWRP is a custom recovery. But before you do all that, I suggest you to google all about custom recovery, SuperSU, BusyBox and how to flash ZIP's from TWRP. Read carefully all the instructions and tutorials and only after you done that, go ahead and try it on your phone. This way you will not brick your device. Good Luck.
Re-authentication
I successfully installed TWRP, and after that, I installed SuperSU. I works at first, but after rebooted the device, re-authentication doesn't work. I can still use SuperSU to root apps, but just first time. Not after rebooted.
