Wow ..... Nice
Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk

just realized i posted this in the original android development thread, oops. mods please feel free to move to appropriate thread.
made a small change in the updater script to wipe cache.

after realizing that all apks and jars on 4.4+ have classes.dex files, even the odexed ones, i edited the updater-script to remove dalvik-cache entries for the vzw odexed files. this *should* be the final release of this mod afaict, at least for this build version.

Flashing now to give this a whirl. thanks

Just the fix I was looking for .... Beautiful

here's a small flashable zip i made that removes the vzw bloat and branding, and unlocks tethering (thanks dymmeh!).
it also replaces the moto setup process with the aosp one, which is only noticeable if doing a factory reset after installing; a side effect of hiding the setup launcher icon.

Can't say enough about how nice this all aspects of this.zip work. I've been running it over a day now and have absolutely no issues! It's so nice to have a tool that removes the VZW BS and enables native tethering all in one package. I hope future development on this package might include a "Return to stock .zip". with 4.4.2 ota in the near future.

Assuming this is only for the DE?

this should work fine installing on a stock 140.45.5 safestrap rom, if there are any available. afaik hashcode never made the primary partition flashable in safestrap, not sure though as i have an unlocked device and haven't really messed around with it.

Perfect I assume the
data/dalvik-cache/.dex , /data/data/com., /system/app/.odex and /system/priv-app/.odex "files" would be rebuilt on the first boot after flashing the xt1060-140.45.5-vzw-removal-undo-s.zip ?
The "undo" .zip will have you back to stock in a flash ... If need be

dalvik-cache entries will be created on first boot, not the odex files; but they are included in the undo zip.
interestingly, odex files are not needed on 4.4+ as each apk and jar has a classes.dex file. you can safely delete all odex files, though there isn't really anything to gain by doing so unless you want to modify the smali code. also, deleting odex files will probably break ART capability.

Thanks for explaining that:good: The undo.zip will be a quick fix to revert back to stock in the event another user or I might take the upcoming OTA but odds are I'll wait for the .sbf to be released

Also the reason why Verizon customers can't have the Nexus 5. I mean I love my Moto, but originally I was going to buy a Nexus 5 and i read about how they screwed Google over with the Galaxy Nexus (they said they wouldnt, then they did load verizon crapware). If I could get out of my contract right now, I would

So the Verizon Developer Edition is shipped with the Verizon bloat etc too? That's interesting, since you think that it would be similar to a Google Play edition phone, coming from Moto and all. Eh. Can't wait for my Moto X VZW Dev Edition (even tho im in Aus )

Here's a link to the only Safestrap friendly stock VZ ROM I could find. It works perfectly on the stock slot (primary partition).

Also, the dev asked that we only link to the thread, not the ROM itself.
Anyway, glad to see this MOD. It's exactly what I was looking for and likely what others wanted after the Eclipse ROM drama from a couple days ago... Stock and Xposed Framework friendly.

It's just a system dump from the Motorola Electrify. It's more or less the same as our stock system dump.
Well let the rom making begin! I wanna root and flash my phone badly....but I dont wanna do it until there is a way I can go back to stock for warranty purposes.

superuser in stock dump?
@shabbypenguin,
I was reading through your AIO root thread and it occurred to me that I had rooted prior to extracting the system dump that is posted in op as "Stock". Therefore, there is a version of superuser present in /app that I assume may not have been there as delivered. Of course, I may be making an incorrect assumption.
Is it appropriate then to call this stock, or is it a given that rooting would have been necessary to perform the dump in the first place?
I also don't know if this would affect your deodexed version?
Just wondering if this fact needs to be mentioned somewhere, unless I just did.

First off, thanks for all your efforts to provide us with this...
Second, root is a requirement for the dump and so even with the Superuser app, what you supplied is most definitely stock.
Unless of course you deleted anything in /system/ prior to the dump...

This is simply a stock from from the Photon's "sister," the Electrify. No one has even identified if there are any benefits/improvements hidden inside this ROM, much less how compatible it is with the Photon.
Just because something IS flashable doesn't mean you SHOULD flash it. OP was very clear - this is for devs only, not public consumption. If you don't know enough, then you're better off exercising some patience and waiting for further announcements.
actually im gunna guess that the man has an electrify and my cwm script is busted
I would venture to guess that you guys will have the same issue we do with the photon roms. As other members on my team verified that root, recovery, kernel and unlock work from the photon. The kernel needed wifi fixed which was pretty simple. In which I pm'd shabby about earlier. The roms also work but some things need fixed to get it working.
I don't know all the details besides what weasel told myself. But mms, 3g I believe works but going back to stock it wouldn't, eri says sprint, blur e-mail fc's and activation for sprint kept popping up to where you have to skip it. Weasel has fixed most of the stuff in the homebase port. I believe e-mail still fc's and mms is still broke.
But here is the first deodex rom weasel and myself did if you want to add it to the first post. http://2fastroms.com/viewtopic.php?f=116&t=265
Then here is the kernel shabby did with wifi fixed ready to install. Only rc-1 since wifi was broke in rc-2. If the electrify people want to install it just grab it from shabby's thread. There was reports of 3000's+ in bench's. Not sure of rom it was on but I would venture to guess our stock rom. http://2fastroms.com/viewtopic.php?f=118&t=334
Then here is the port for homebase weasel is playing with http://2fastroms.com/viewtopic.php?f=116&t=268 if you guys wanted to look at it.
i would gather a lot of frameworks issues, as with services.jar would happen between the phones.
edit: you keep saying you fixed wifi. but the only way to fix it, is by rebuilding the modules using my config file.. which only i have...
unless im missing some other way to replace it?

[ROOT] VZW Note 2 Root Package

I know what you're thinking "We already have root, why do we want and/or need this?". Well, if you followed the root thread, you would have seen that the package posted was built off of two images. There was the early firmware posting that it was first made from, then a system pull in a rar archive that was used to put the root package on the latest firmware. In the processes, there were issues with permissions and other items missing. The people involved did a great job with what they had, but I don't like hacked up solutions to problems.
So, to fix that, I had a stock system.img for the release firmware. This allowed me to build a fully stock root package with no missing files or incorrect permissions. While it took some time to get this tested and verified working without having the device, I was able to get it. Thanks goes to Adrynalyne, Mibix, and AstainHellBring (and anyone else) from IRC for testing several packages (Freenode, #galaxy-note-2). This is only the start of things to come, and I plan on slowly working on a ROM based on this then. I also made a deodexed version of the same package. Download and flash that if you wish, but it was more to verify that nothing broke in the deodexing process and to get a working base for a custom ROM.

INSTRUCTIONS
Download one of the above packages for flashing.
Extract the file (7zip works to extract).
Open Odin (download that elsewhere), and put the extracted tar.md5 in the PDA spot
(Re)Boot your phone into download mode and plug it in to your computer
With it recognized in Odin, press start
Once the phone boots up, all should be well. If you notice issues, boot into recovery and wipe data and this should fix the problems.
If you still have issues after wiping the /data and performing a factory reset, please post here.
NOTE: I am not responsible for any ill effects caused to you, your loved ones, you phone, or anything else as a result of flashing this. Do so at your own risk as I won't be held responsible.
Saving this one too, just in case.
I'm nuts about imnuts! Its great to have you here! Can't wait for one of your ROMs.
So just for clarification, this is a newer version of system than what the other root package was?
I will probably flash the deoxed version anyone, but just checking.

Same "version" as the last one created by Mr Robinson, just that it was built off of a system.img of the shipping firmware that preserved all permissions on the files. Functionally, this should be basically the same as what was done earlier, just put together in a less hacked up manner.

I do believe that's really for doing themes etc. (Makes it easier, that is)
Thank you. I ran your droid charge roms. Do u plan on get a note2?
Oh I wasn't sure if it litened it up or sped it up in any way. Would u see any reason to flash this over or in place of the first one I have now? All seems to be working fine.
What happens to all the mods that we have used on our phone, e.g. replacing files. I have changed my status bar and changed it so I can use MW with all apps.
Is this like the other one where are apps are not deleted?
Could yuo explain the advantages of the deoxed version vs. this one?
I will d/l both to keep on hand and thank you imnuts for putting this together. Does this address the lag with the screen turning on. I did of course wipe cache, etc, etc. when I rooted the first time. Remember kids, always wipe when you're done

If you already have root and/or have done other changes to /system, then there isn't a need to flash this. It is meant more for people that haven't yet rooted. If you have only done root, this shouldn't change anything for you. If you have rooted and made other changes (deleting apps/etc.), then it will undo those changes, and possibly force you to factory reset. Nothing has been deleted from either package, just root and busybox being added.
Deodexed v. stock is mainly for ease of modification. After the first boot, there is no speed difference in the two, though you may save a little bit of storage on the stock version. Functionally, they are identical, just that if one was looking to theme or make other changes, it is easier to do on the Deodexed version. I plan on starting a ROM then, maybe with the help of a few people, and this will start with the deodexed version and will get its own thread if it comes.
Just to answer any future questions, if you're already rooted, you don't need this. It was created as a better starting point for anyone that has not yet rooted their phone.
Thanks for clearing that up imnuts. So seriously though, no performance differences between the two? I find that weird if the permissions are all messed up in the original. I'm planning to root my sister's phone tonight, and it wouldn't be hard for me to do mine again tonight either if there is some reason for it, from the sounds of it, there isn't
Looking forward to your future stuff, +1 anyways.
I may have to try both and see which is is best for future efforts.

I don't know if there are permissions issues with what was out, but given how it was made, it could be possible that one or two of the items with special permissions was missed, and without hitting a specific usage scenario, you'd never know. I think that given what MrRobinson was working with, he did a great job :good: I haven't actually compared what I have with what was previously out other than to verify that all files were present, I wasn't looking at permissions.
As for what's best for future efforts, it's going to be easier to theme and mod the deodexed version.
I do plan on building a ROM then starting next week, but progress will be slow (this alone took a week to get everything sorted properly).

You dont understand how Loki works. It just modifies the boot.img of the ROM file. So your not really changing Loki... Its this ROM was not created with the loki patch.
The patch that I linked to is a file that signs the boot.img with the loki signature tick. The Dev Phones dont need this because they are unlocked.
So if someone wants to run this Dev Phone ROM (which I know they will) they just need to falsh the proper modules (because of a slight difference in radios) then flash the loki patch because it will loki the boot.img which is part of the ROM.
I dont know if that made it more confusing or less... lol
File is up!
If Anyone wants the odex version let me know. I may post if the demand is high enough.

Ok, I guess to answer your question more simplistically...
If you want to go back to "regular" loki you just flash which ever ROM has it.
Now that should clarify it.

I've spent the weekend trying to make a safestrap rom out the newest update from T-mobile. As far as I can tell everything is working the particular steps I did were
Disabled Wi-Fi in stock ROM before flashing
I'm not sure if this does anything but someone suggested this for fixing wifi not always coming up. I'm not sure if it matters but if you don't disable WiFi in the stock slot and WiFi in the SafeStrap slot doesn't work then mention it in the comments.
Create new rom slot of at least the default size
Flash vzwupdat.zip
Flash root, whatever other mods you may want
The kernel is still the old one, I just added the wifi drivers to the original rom to try and alleviate the issues that kept people from being able to turn on WiFi. I also added the build.prop and eri.xml from the stock Verizon ROM to fix T-CDMA64 showing as the Mobile Network.
Will you update now that the OTA for Verizon has been released?
The short answer is no. The Verizon update is the same software wise as this version. The modems were updated and some of the security binaries are updated. If you use this you are essentially using the newest software you could possibly use. Trying to modify Verizon's OTA to work with safestrap is going to be counterproductive because there is so much carrier specific branding and dependencies. This does include all the same camera updates, but to alleviate some of the problems that people have with call quality I will look into a flashable radio if someone else doesn't do it 25/10/13

Excellent, thanks!
What does the eri.xml file do? I'm just wondering if i need it for anything. I have a vzw dev edition and am running the T-Mobile rom. I just added the vzw build.prop and made sure to switch to the right network type lte/cmda auto(prl) every time I boot the phone. No issues so far. Is the eri.xml just for people with safestrap?
Working great. No issues so far.

How is this different from stock? I'm about to pickup a Moto X and am excited to start modding it!
Edit: wait nevermind, I should have searched first...
Thanks so much. Can't wait until I have time to figure out how to flash this..

On most ports from GSM to CDMA the eri is missing an entry to tell the phone "Hey, this network is called 'Verizon Wireless'." It keeps users from seeing the T-CDMA64 as their network provider. If you do flash it on your dev edition I just warn you that this was designed for being used as a SafeStrap ROM. It doesn't contain a boot.img and may not boot on the dev editions.
Does this have a wifi tether enable override so that VZW doesn't get checked?

This is essentially like using an carrier-less moto x. No bloat. No subscription checks.
Awesome work man!
Only one question before I flash this gem.
Does this cause any problems with safestrap??
I only ask because I flashed the tmo ROM the other day with no issues. Had data and WiFi working great. When I rebooted to get into ss I bootlooped like a son of a beotch. Had to fxz back to stock. Saw a few other users with the same problem flashing the same tmo ROM.
Can anyone comment on this??

So basically you create a rom slot, backup to new rom slot, install your update, install su update, and boot to new slot?

How can this be used on AT&T safestrap?

I've had no issues with reboots. I've turned off and on, rebooted to recovery and regular reboots and working great.
My only thing, and I'm new to SS so I know it's something I'm doing, is when I switch to stock slot and then back to where this ROM is, I've lost data on the custom slot. Like I clean flashed. Is there a way to maintain all my user data on slot 1 while switching to stock?

Ok, I have it installed and running great so far...but as far as root, which Pwn version would I use? The Verizon one, the TMobile one, or none?
Thanks for developing for us. Stupid Verizon and their late updates!

Backing up to a new rom slot is really just to have your stock rom on that rom slot. All that is needed is to create the rom slot and then flash this zip.

If you have no issues then I wouldn't recommend changing a thing.

Theoretically you should be able to use it the same way on AT&T but it may just cause your network to say "Verizon Wireless" in the notification shade and the quick settings tile.

I do not believe this should occur. I would post over on the rootzwiki forum on the SS page because it is probably an issue with SS. Certain user data is getting stored differently because of how the Moto X is set up from what I have gathered. I know Hashcode just change in the new SS where he was storing certain things so that might be part of the problem. Make sure you are on the newest SS and post what occurred over there so hashcode can look into it.

Deodexed LGH830 10D

Since I haven't seen any other threads on this topic, I figured I'd go ahead and get the ball rolling for anybody interesting in building a custom ROM. As the title suggests, this is a completely deodexed system image for the latest firmware update we recently received.
Just to clarify, this is a (mostly) stock base, and is intended to serve more as a foundation/starting point for anyone looking to build their own ROM.
I took the liberty to update all applications to their newest/current version and preinstalled busybox, which should save everyone a considerable amount of time and data. I also removed about a dozen or so apps that don't serve any beneficial purpose to the phone, but I will still include them in the download link for anybody that wants them for whatever reason.
You will obviously need to be rooted in order to flash this through recovery, so unfortunately if you are one of the unlucky souls that lost it with the update, you'll have to wait for a custom tot to surface before you can flash this.
I've been running this image for the last couple weeks or so and haven't encountered a single issue, but you should still make a backup of your current setup prior to flashing just to play it safe.
Nothing special needs to be done when flashing it, just the standard factory reset along with SuperSU and you should be good to go. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, and hopefully you like it!

hope this gets the ball rollin on ROMs. thanks so much! I have been having a few issues w/ the fluence patch..but not that many. but i know a custom made app for our phone would be way better. to get rid of all t-mo bloat.

I'm pretty sure it isn't flashable (correct me if I'm wrong) once it is flashable, I'll probably throw something together (TeamSPR ROM)

I may be wrong but this one sounds like an image. Am I correct ? There are stock folder based roms available that can be used as a base.

Where!?!
Does this Rom offers the new radios and other new stuff from 10D and would I be able to revert back to 10a without any issue like on the other methods?

Yes, for simplicitys sake I chose to use an image in the zip instead. Not knowing if anybody would even be interested in this, it seemed like the logical route to take. Though you might have found other ROMS that are directory based for our phone, I doubt you've found another that's already predeodexed for you. Its also extremely simple to extract this image into the filesystem that you're looking for, but not the other way around.

I'll download the ROM, debloat it, add SuperSU to the meta-inf and stuff then you can do those tweaks you were telling me about.

Flashed this yesterday and have had no issues since. Pretty solid. Thanks!
Got a question. So I'm rooted and on 10a. I can flash this without any problems? Can I use the twrp app or should I boot into recovery? Thanks.
