[Q] Question about Region in Roms? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, i have a sgs3 i9300 with an unbranded (ARO) argentinian rom (I9300UBUGML1)... i was wondering if i can flash it the unbranded united arab emirates (I9300XXUGNA7 LYS or XSG?) to my device without any problems.. will it be the same? all unbranded roms come with all the languages?
and last, anyone knows which is the unbranded version of "united arab emirates I9300XXUGNA7" rom? LYS or XSG?
Thanks and sorry for my english...

First- check if your device is sim locked (using galaxy sim from play store). Second- although with a minor probability: check if your device's box mentions its region locked device.
If none of above-you can do that, but in order to have a full language support from stock one, you'll either should root your device and use Morelocal2, or use the script mentioned in FAQ

S3 TMobile Debranding

So for those of you that got your S3 with TMobile branded firmware you'll realise how stupid it is.
I wanted to know if I flash it with unbranded firmware will that mean I won't be elegible for updates via Kies and via OTAs. (So even though I will now have the option to get OTAs, I wont be able to?)
Also if the answer to the above is Yes, is there any way to get around this and if no what am I doing wrong because my updates via Kies is not working.

I believe you can simply debrand it by flashing a stock firmware version with odin.

Possible but not 100%

There has to be an actual update for YOUR phone on the Kies server as its TMobile ask them .
Why not join XDA Developers and flash stock roms on release .

The only unbranded firmware that I know of is for the international version. If there is unbranded firmware for the TMO version it would be somewhere in the US forums, not here. And you cant go flashing an international version rom on a TMO GS3. different processor,modems etc...Unless you want a brick

Why would TMobile send their firmware to the USA for TMobile UK customers to download .
TMob UK firmware is as usually in the stock /branded roms threads on SGS3 I9300 International forum that is this one .
The T-Mobile brand is present in 11 European countries – Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany (as Telekom), Hungary, Macedonia, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, and the United Kingdom – as well as the US, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

You didn't specify what country you were talking about. I dont know which variant TMO Europe has, but the US TMO version is dual core snapdragon. If TMO EU has the i9300 then you could flash international roms, but if it's the same as the TMO US variant you cannot flash international i9300 roms on it

I have a T-Mobile S3 and got fed up with kies saying no update so I just rooted and flashed wanamlite, not looked back since. Although I did take a nandroid back backup of stock firmware first for version references.

P.s all uk based T-Mobile S3's are GTi9300 that I have come across

My SGS3 origin and JB update

Please can any one tell me to which country does my phone belong to and when my JB will be updated? Some told me that it is UAE, others said it is Africa. JB is released for both countries but I still didnt get it. Whats Wrong?
Is there any website that can analyze any of the above data to know every detail about my phone?

Thank you. Yes I tried Kies but "You have the latest firmware" message is what I get. As for the recovery boot, I got:
#Manual Mode#
--Applying Multi-CSC...
Applied the CSC-code: AFR
Successfully applied multi-CSC.
didnt mention anything about country.
Any other help?
Hey! First delete IMEI in the first post. NOW!!
It is UAE, but there seems to be no record about this model.
United Arab Emirat.
MID = UNITED ARAB EMIRAT
ARB = UNITED ARAB EMIRAT
XSG = UNITED ARAB EMIRAT
AFR = UNITED ARAB EMIRAT
ITO = UNITED ARAB EMIRAT

[Q] very weird firmware numbers for an original stock s4 galaxy i9525

Hi,
My firmware numbers are:
pad:ml2 /phone: ml2 / csc:mk1 (xsi)
Can you please help me understand these codes? as far as I researched xsi should be the country code but I can't fund a country whose code is xsi.
This is an Original Samsung Galaxy S4 Active phone that I originally bought from Duabi.
Moreover, I should be getting kitkated but I'm still at 4.2.2 and kies says no firmware upgrade for me.
All help is appreciated.
XSI is for the United Arab Emirates regional firmware.

You should be update the phone with any unbranded firmware for the international version.

Thanks for the link, much appreciated.
I'm surprised that Kies didn't offer me an update yet, I'm now located in Egypt, maybe that's the reason?

Kies sucks. Manual updates with Odin are 100 times better.

As stated by an aussie XDA user
The T model is tuned to favour the 850mhz band. There is a difference in hardware but very minor. Other than that they are the same.

you can use any country firmware other than the asian countries (china, thailand, koreea, vietnam, etc.) unless you want some apps to be in a wierd language .

Need some help with unbranding

Hi guys I have just got my Samsung Galaxy edge and its branded to 02 UK and I am going to unbrand it I wanted to know which Stock should I flash BTU OR XEU also will I need to change the csc ?
Pretty sure XEU is Europe unbranded (including UK) and BTU is just UK unbranded, flashing one of those should set your CSC to the version flashed. I have always flashed BTU
Sammobile actually has XEU listed as Ireland, so prob best go for BTU http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G925F/BTU/
Thanks MrC85 thats what I have done just flashed the United Kingdom BTU its all set now........Do you reckon I just get the android updates quicker now ?

I guess so, I tend to root mine etc (or use a custom ROM). so have to flash updates manually.
