NFC not working - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Hey guys i checked threads and didnt find a solution did find some threads talking about it but no good answers.
Problem is i have a z1 and a z ultra whenever i try to send them both any file from my note 3 or s4 the sony phones open up play store.
I did some research to check what was missing and i came out on: com.sec.android.directshare well i has.an idea what that is but could not find any apk which contains that. I bought SuperBeam thinking that would fix it but nope. Anyone has the missing file for me?

I've never used NFC, but could it be the "ShareApplication.apk" (system/app) that is responsible for this? Have you deleted any system apps/files?

Nope both z1 and xperia ultra are stock and new from store.

I have no idea. I don't even know if it works on mine I guess you'll have to wait until someone else sees this thread.

Huh, can't find it on mine either, which is incredible strange. Sony couldn't have forgotten to add an important service like this one, could they?
Could you upload it here, so people could easily get it if they need it?

Thinking about it I had problems receiving a file from another Xperia (cant remember what model), just did nothing, but NFC tag reading worked fine.
I hace received files from a Nexus 5 now that I'm on 4.4.x

I had this exact problem when I had a galaxy s3 and a friend who has a xperia s
Samsung make it that you cant use NFC with anything but Samsung devices

Sony New Firmware Updates - Changelogs?

Hello All,
Anyone know if Sony have a page dedicated to letting us know what they fix or add in each firmware release? I can't seem to find one.

No, they donĀ“t release patch notes(apart from maybe a few major bugs they fixed etc). You will have to figure out by yourself.
You thinking of finding out what's changed to stop the bluetooth stutter?

Yep - I definitely think it is something to do with memory management between open apps though.

CM11 working for Developer Edition

This is the discussion thread for Hashcode's release of CM11 for the Note 3 Developer Edition. Do not flash on a Verizon Retail device. It will brick your device.
To download the ROM, go here > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600883
cam30era said:
I take absolutely no credit for any of this. I did a little research and flashed the international N3 version of CM11 on my DE this morning. It's working fine so far. FWIW, I've not tested everything, but after one hour I've not found any notable bugs other that speaker phone (mic doesn't work).
Go here >http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588892
For Gapps, go here >http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps
You'll have to edit APN settings to work on our Verizon network. Go here >http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2535920&page=72
Note that at the bottom of post #718 it explains how to get in to APN settings, which are grayed out.
And Post # 716 gives you our Verizon APN settings.
Note that I also edited the build.prop as follows:
ro.product.model=SM-900V

This could be a daily driver, except for SMS not being able to send. We are going to need help to be able to use CM11 on our devices. I am going to flash this again, in a day or two and get a logcat. I'll post it here in hopes that someone can help us figure out what the problem is.

The data dropping is also an issue for their phones, and the devs seem to be getting a handle on it. The SMS issue is ours, alone. As such we will need help from someone with a DE to solve, I suspect.

not that i am aware of. not many roms to speak of for verizon if any. i am running viper beta and it is very smooth and very minor issues. great daily for me
I am running tams latest build and it's fantastic! 4g works, 3g works, camera works, text doesn't. I can receive but not send. Phone is running cool and fast. Very impressive considering the state of things last week. vzw dev edition. On a side note does anyone have any idea why I'm receiving but can't send text?

In the OP I posted a link on how to access APN. Quoted here > "OK so I was messing around in settings under mobile networks when I pressed carrier settings it immediately FC's settings but when I went back in mobile networks I got two notifications (just ringtone) and I now have access to my APN settings. Weird huh anyone else done this?
Edit: I have to hit ok on the fc prompt and go back into mobile networks before the notification sounds. If I'm fast enough the access point names won't be greyed out anymore"
Be sure to click "save" before exiting editing APN.
This does work. But after changing APN to VZWinternet, we still have the same two problems, i.e. can't send SMS and can't hang up from a phone call.
The problem is not with APN settings. These affect data, LTE, 4g, mms, etc. And we can edit APN for VZW.
I suspect the root of the problem lies in build.prop commands. I made a few changes to build.prop related to network, radio and ril. Result was either no effect or would not boot. This is too complicated for me....

Non-Sprint Note 3 Touchwiz Lollipop 5.0!!!

First off, sorry if this has already been posted. If it has, moderator please delete. I did a quick look and didn't see it but may have missed it.
On to the good stuff, it seems like a few people have Touchwiz Lollipop 5.0 booting on a couple different Note 3 variants with the Snapdragon. I'm not a dev and don't really have the means to try this right now but here is the thread with all the info. Hopefully a dev or some brave soul can check this out on our Sprint devices and see what's up. I would love to have a nice custom Lollipop ROM before the new year! Good luck to any who try! I hope it works!

I have been successful booting and messing with 5.0 bit no mms sms or 3G/4g. Agreed, hope someone adds it to our site.
I flashed Echoe creation N3 Lollipop v21 (now v22 is released) from this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2495688
Things that do not work for me are:
1) WiFi does not work initially. A WiFi&Bluetooth fixed it though
2) screen mirroring still does not work with my Samsung smart tv. It was not working on 4.4.4 previously and I was hoping Lollipop can fix it, but no luck.
3) video taking still does not work.
4) Nextradio/fm is not working anymore. It was working on Stock 4.4.4 Rom.

Where did you get the Wifi/Bluetooth fix from? I didn't see it on Echoes site.
I found one via google from a Vietnamese website (there is also a Lollipop leak in Vietnamese, afaik). If you bump into this issue and can't find a fix there, I can upload it.

Hi.
With the exception of the bypass of samsung protection, all those features are already available in the rooted firmware. and custom themes are popping up slowly...
The reason there are so many different firmware files is because its not like the Gear 1 where it was one model and thats it. Theres several different variants that differ in model, supported bands and country so there wouldnt be one piece of software to cover all.

That's the biggest thing I'm looking for is the bypass of samsung protection. To be able to modify the apks and install them on the watch through my non-samsung phone (like I do with my gear 2).
The model I have is at&t.. Not sure if that would be difficult to modify.
Btw, thanks for the response!

Yes, any updates, I just bought one and would prefer not have to buy a samsung phone to get full fuctionality.
would love a uk version to test so that I can connect up my htc m8

unfortunately the process android.process.media has stopped......

I'm getting this error. I am not rooted. I have tried every fix I've seen on google. I even removed the SD card and the problem still persists. The SD card ins't even in the device and I still get the error. One thing I have noticed is my media storage does not have an option to disable. I'm running out of options and can't figure out how to get rid of this error. I am unable to download anything. from files form email, from dropbox, mega and I cannot download any update from the play store. I tried a factory reset and nothing. I know this problem may have something to do with download manager and media storage but I can't get anything to work running android 5.0 please help
I want to just get another one but I'm afraid this could be tied to my profile
Edit: come to find out, the problem is with android 5.0. There is an issue where the download manager and device storage apps aren't syncing up. And the fix is found in.......you guess it.........android 5.1, which this device has never gotten. I know there is a custom rom for android 5.1 floating around. Could anyone just point me in the direction of the custom rom and a guide on rooting this device? I used odin a long time ago when this device was on 4.4 but I'm sure it's different now on 5.0.

I was using that ROM for 6 months with no issues.
Only thing I didn't like was the stock sms app is messed up and you have to use textra. I even tried another sms app like signal and it also didn't work correct.
There is a similar build called Darklord Reborn by mid3vil. The post claims the stock sms app works. However, the link to the file is dead at the moment.
There is also a post called Lots of ROMs 7.1 by NMBNMB that seems promising. I started dabbling into a couple.
Hope this helps.

Looking these over, it seems like they are all for hlte and not hltespr... Sprint being a CDMA based system may not want to play nice. It seems like Resurection Remix had more luck in this , but even there the OP crossed out the Sprint variant working on this.
I hear Sprint may be merging/bought up soon and so perhaps there may be a change in the bandwidth that will be allowed for us users?
