Cant flash file generated by Auto Pre Root Script - Samsung Galaxy Star

hi all,
cant reply to the original thread 'coz xda is not permitting me. so here's my problem..
i downloaded "Auto Pre Root Script" by @Chirtagh. downloaded latest firmware INS-S5282XXANA2-20140206155536.zip and extrated the system.img and executed the script. Everything worked fine and it generated pre_rooted_system.tar
now when i use odin to flash the tar file, it stops at "Nand Write Start!!". Waited for an hour, still no progress. i closed odin and turned on the mobile and it works fine and takes me to the stock rom.
is there anything i need to do to make odin write to nand??

Make sure that your drivers are installed corrrctly
Or else, just flash pre rooted firmware that chirtagh has made, your pre rooted firmware might be corrupted

help is needed to downgrade from 2.2

Dears I upgrdede to 2.2 and seems to work but most of the phone functions didn't work so I decide to down grade to original 2.1 again.
I went to download mode started odin and put the files and started but nothing happend so I unpluged the mobile and ended with the phone not working so I cant run 2.2 or 2.1 tryed to go back to 2.2 but still it starts on the odin and then stops.
can any one help?
What do you mean nothing happened? And this is the wrong section btw.
odin started to use the files and then stopped saying dont turn target off, and took so long as if it hanged
What version of ODIN are you using?
odin 3.1 .........
And which rom are you using? Make sure its the JDF one and not the JI6.
Have you ever used odin before? If not make sure you have the samsung drivers installed. If using vista or windows 7 open odin by right clicking and run as administrator. Then once its open put phone in download mode and connect it to the computer. Try again.
I think you mean Odin3 1.0
You need to upgrade to Odin 1.7 first of all, it can be found in this section in the Bible. Then like he said, grab JFD and the 512 pit file.
can you provide the links please to get the 4 fils PIT,PDA,Phone,CSC
I will be gratefull
You only need the Pit and PDA
Odin 1.7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8863820&postcount=138
JFD firmware (put this as the PDA, it should be .TAR)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739091
512 PIT:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=369220&d=1280422516
Make sure your phone is in download mode with the big yellow sign.
I will try it and let you know
Thank you for your help, it means a lot

What froyo rom did you flash? Did you flash it through recovery or with odin?
also as someone else stated, you should move this to q&a. While some will help you none the less, a few of people on here like the taste of freshly seared meat from time to time

Can't flash with ODIN - PLEASE help!

Spent a frustrating day trying to sort this so I'm posting here as a last resort as I'm at the end of my tether!!
So. Was browsing the marketplace(new style) and my phone crashed and then would not reboot. It would only go as far as the Samsung Galaxy S2 screen. so I took out the battery and half an hour later returned to see if all was well when I reinserted the battery. It wasn't. I should point out at this point that I was happily using the latest MIUI and appart from the occasional reboot all was well. When reinserting the battery did not work I tried to reboot into CWM but found that I could not. I can however reboot into download mode so have been trying to reflash my phone using that. However I can't get past factoryfs.img! It just stops there every time! Tried :
Usb Jig
Different USB ports
Restart computer
Reinstalling Kies drivers
A different version of ODIN
Many different ROM files (including Litening 1.5 which I know works from a previous flash)
Re downloading various ROMs in case the download was dodgy
Please, please help. I just don't know what to do now
Im thinking its very possible that something in your phone fried and the only option you have is service.. From the way you describe things as not advancing past factory fs.
You make no mention of flashing a stock rom via Odin .That is the normal method of recovery.

Thru odin you must use 4 files first you have to use pit- ext4 , then- pda , then- phone , and finaly csc.
You got all files here and do please read.
These are stock roms.

Since reinstalling Kies and reinstalling the drivers, my computer won't recognise the phone at all even in download mode. Might have to admit defeat soon
Flash this recovery package, which is XXKI3, 2.3.5, Open Europe http://hotfile.com/dl/130600047/b70801e/I9100XXKI3.rar.html
Tick the 3 top boxes (Re Partition, auto reboot and F.Reset time)
PIT -> PIT
CODE -> PDA
MODEM -> PHONE
CSC -> CSC
If that doesn't work or fails, flash this, which is a XXKI3 Kernel : http://www.multiupload.com/WDOO81L5H6. After that, re-flash the recovery package (with PIT and repartitiong, but be careful )
Report back if it doesn't work, and good luck!
If that doesn't work, flash the old bootloader : http://www.multiupload.com/LQQBRQVJUD in either the PDA or Bootloader section in ODIN. If that is successful, flash the Kernel again, and then the XXKI3 recovery package I gave you.

thanks, it worked . i also have another question hopefully you can answer it. i just flashed entropys kernal but when i try to get into the cwm, it takes me to the 3e one. my understanding is that entropys kernal has the cwm in it doesnt it? i flashed it using odin and passed. thanks :good:
ok i just found out it didn't get flashed..im still running stock kernal even tho odin said passed.
this is what i did, i downloaded dd_03052012.zip from entropy. unzipped it in winrar. then when i tried adding the tar to pda section of odin, it wasn't there (but if i were to open its folder thru win explorer then i would see it) just odin wasn't recognizing it. so i renamed the zimage file with .tar at the end, now odin sees it so i go ahead and add it into pda field and push start (player was in download mode) odin said reset....then after a couple secs it said passed! and then it reboot itself...still stock kernal. please help, I've literally been working on this for twelve hours with a break to go grocery shopping thanks in advance.

Use superoneclick to unroot first THEN root again. Hopefully that works. If not, you're screwed if you want to ref lash. Sorry.

Try using a PIT when flashing. That will make sure Odin maps partitions correctly.
Pushed with Heimdall, and honestly had no luck. There is about 20 different things I tried to get this working and none of them worked correctly. Giving up as of now.

DOB1 firmware only file

Hello all.
I have made a firmware only file for the DOB1 version of software for those that want to upgrade with the mobile/pc odin way.
That way you can upgrade a knox 0 and keep knox 0 and root.
Just need to run mobile odin with the stock tar that is available and inject mobile odin and su
for reboot options have it go into download mode
then flash this firmware only file to complete the upgrade and then let it boot up.
Should be good to go.
Download the file from box here:
https://app.box.com/s/ihdqlrozzhyv2jmyqrhbcgkfvr27dl6b
Thought I've read in many places that lollipop doesn't work with mobile Odin.
What happens here is you dont get the full version of lollipop, so technically you are still on 4.4.4. You will still be on the kitkat kernel. Plus the possibility of errors and such.
I would just wait till the dev have a way to root the full version of lollipop.
The kernel is written though with aboot in the firmware only file that you flash with Odin no?

No the kernel is boot.img, which is missing from you file. mobile odin can flash this but it is not recommended, also there is a bunch of necessary files that are not able to be flashed with mobile odin. That is the reason i came up with a way to root without tripping knox. Have you tried your method yet? if you did can you post a screen shot of your about phone.
The best way to get it done efficiently is pc Odin back to official 4.4.2 then take a two updates that will be waiting in line the Volte update then the 993mb Lollipop OTA putting you on stock 5.0.
MOBIL ODIN will screw you up if you try to flash the download able update .
I tried to cheat and go the easy way by reflashing stock 3e recovery with cf auto then I tried to use wannam xposed security hack to Enable custom to officiall status .
After I uses mobile Odin to flash the file from samfirm I was stuck in a boot loop .
Finally just full tar Odin flashed back to 4.4.2 then took Ota.
4.4.2 cf auto will root 5.0 just for reference nothing changes

You had steps for updating?
I didn't find any when I looked.
I haven't yet tried this on my device but a friend that has it said these were the steps he did and it worked. I uploaded firmware and radio file since I didn't find it here. I can also make one that is the boot img in it to flash in regular Odin. Mobile Odin only injects in system I believe.
Do you have a link to your dob1 steps?

Yeah i had steps for updating and rooting on kitkat not lollipop. I had gotten rid of my s5 2 days before lollipop came out. :crying: But a friend has the s5 and he tried to do your steps on his phone and said that it did not work and was getting errors and the kernel was still on 4.4, But he did say that after he pc odin back to stock and took the official lollipop update he was able to use cf auto root to root his device on lollipop. He unfortunately tripped knox doing it with cf auto root. I told him to wait and stop by my house so that i can test some methods that will root without tripping knox, but he couldnt wait and took the plunge. He also said that mobile odin crashed when he tried to use it with lollipop, lucky for him that when it crashed it did not mess his phone up.
The best bet here is to see if you can take the official update, use pc odin to flash ne6 kernel, then use towel root and then pc odin the stock 5.0 kernel back to see of you still have root and not trip knox..
Be careful when you try your method with the kernel added to your package and using mobile odin. Anything related to kernel can cause you to trip knox. I am still having my friend come over so that i can verify a couple of things before i update my thread on rooting.
Okay.
I have found a process for this that works perfectly.
At least on my device.
This is starting with a towelrooted NK2 version with knox 0x0
I went and downloaded the full DOB1 image from SamFirmware and copied that to the internal memory of the phone.
Then I installed mobile odin pro on the phone.
I then in mobile odin pro open the stock firmware from above and had it set to boot into download mode.
I flashed and let it open in download mode.
I then used Odin 3.09 to flash the firmware radio file with no reboot.
Then flashed the kernal in a seperate file.
Rebooted the phone into recovery to let it complete steps.
Then rebooted the phone normally.
Everything seems to have loaded up okay for me now.
Will try for a few days and report back. But is seems to have worked okay.
So you're rooted in DOB1 with knox at 0x0?

Yup
Just a bit of trial and error going back and forth to find something that worked.
Only problem I am running into is that I can not update Su Binary with the app so far.
But it is giving me root access and everything seems to be working.
Okay I take that back.
I have su binaries and everything on it but it won't function and I can not update it for some reason.
I wonder if it is due to the mobile odin injecting ones that are too old.
I made some changes to mobile odin so it has the newer supersu apk and binary from 2.46
Will try and flash back and upgrade again and see if that makes a difference.
im getting an invalid md5 in pc odin. have you been able to flash this?

That's probably because the OP renamed the file after repacking it. You really don't want to remove the .md5 and flash like that if at all possible, because that md5 checks the file's integrity.
Not, trying to hijack your thread @TheArtiszan but I have the Recovery, Kernel, Bootloader and Modem already repacked here:
