[Q] Problem rooting I9100p galaxy s2!! PLEASE HELP - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello! Like it says in the title I have a problem with rooting. All I did was to upgrade to official jelly bean. I searched for like 3 days continuously in French, German, English and all I have found was some info about what I should do. So I know that I have to flash a new CWM and that's probably why I can't flash ROMs. I get into Recovery mode, I select "apply update from external storage" and then it says with red : "E:failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory)". I found another method, with adb, tried it and failed, it says can't read file or open it, I'm not sure. With odin I tried so much CWMs... I can't number them. None of them worked. So I'm asking you, I'm mad to upgrade my android, to flash cyanogenmod, and I can't. Please help!! And please tell me how I know what version of cwm I need? I mean it's from Baseband- I9100PXXLS8 or Build number-I9100PXXLSQ? Please help! And don't tell me to search please!

How do you not know about philz kernel. Link below... Pls read it and flash what is for you're model and not the i9100.

I'm sorry I didn't know I did this thread duplicated. Maybe I pushed post thread button two times. I'm sorry. About philz kernel I know it, I said I tried so many versions... none of them worked. So tell me how can I know the correct version? What I mean by that is I saw at philz kernel a code like xwlsp or xxlsj. How can I know the code for my phone? Thank you

Thanks I'll try to flash it when I come back to school. My baseband is I9100PXXLS8. I saw some cwms with xwls8. Is there a problem? There says is nothing if is xx or xw it doesn't matter. Is that so?

Baseband is irrelevant because it's the modem. You need the build number, which is the kernel.

Ok so my build number is JZO54K.I9100PXXLSQ. What cwm should I flash? With what code? Sorry I'm putting those noob questions

Look Peter, do what I did and read up on stuff for a week before you flash anything.Do you realise all the things that can go wrong with the phone.
It will be you that has a phone that doesnt work and how will that affect you?.

Hello. Last night I installed cwm for my phone. IT WORKED!! FINALLY!! Then I flashed the 10.1.3 RC2 CyanogenMod stable ROM and I was a bit scared because the android keyboard was failing continuously and I didn't know why. And then I remembered I flashed the 4.3 gapps. So I downloaded the gapps for 4.2.2 and now all works fine. No problem. SO HAPPY I FINALLY GOT A NEW ROM!! thank you to all guys that helped me. You could kick me out from the beginning but you were good with me i'm new here and i really apreciate that. Thank you!!

NOW look at efs/nand backups...

Thats how it looks now. Really proud about it. Ok but what does those backups do? I mean just do like a normal backupor is something more?

4.2.2? Why not 4.4.2 . It's much better
Bk up efs with ktool from playstore
Nandroid bk up. Make that in cwm recovery. These are a must for you to do tonight.
BTW its free to get ktool so don't skip backing up you're efs. Also take a COPY of that folder and put it on you're PC. Copy... Don't remove it or delete that folder.

Issue Installing CyanogenMod 7.2 on S2

I have been trying to install the CyanogenMod 7.2 for hours now...I have reset the phone back to stock and rooted twice. When trying to install the mod I get the following error -
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted
It is driving me nuts...have tried all 3 options on their site for installation, I'm sure Im not the only person with this issue.
Can anybody shed some light on this issue in PLAIN english...the help would be much appreciated.
I think u have stock recovery
You need CWM recovery
Or if u have CWM recovery then turn off signature verification
I have it and used it already...error is the same.

Don't try to flash with rom manager
Do it manually by CWM recovery
and post questions in Q/A section from next time
I am running the full version of CWM and it does not give me any options for disabling or turn off signature verification. Also manual CWM does not work....gives the exact same issue.
Sorry for posting in wrong part of forum new...and forums very confusing.

Multiupload is gone for good. That's the resolution.
But, all the download links in the CF-Root thread are links to chainfire's own hosted site. Not a single download link in the CF-Root thread is to a multiupload site. (seriously. Not a one)
So are you looking at the right thread for CF-Root?

CF-Root thread.
Flashing one of these kernels (looks like you'll want to use a KF4 kernel - I think there's only one on the page) will give you CWM recovery. Once you have this, try your CyanogenMod install again.
As always though, the best advice I can offer is to search, research, and read voraciously before doing anything that can possibly do irreparable harm to your phone.

About your problem, download flashtool and download .ftf (I suggest Nordic region) and flash it. Everything can be found in dev sections, or in sticky thread in general section.

btw. edit thread title to reflect your problem, as current one is so generic that it can be used on 90% threads here

What is the filename of the file you are flashing to your phone?
Did flashtool reported any error or everything went well with flashing?

Why are you sending PM's, we have forum, there are smarter people here and will solve your problem faster if more of us discuss about it.
First you said that you have problems with keyboard, then you said you followed this instructions: http://theunlockr.com/2012/10/08/how-to-root-the-sony-ericsson-xperia-neo-mt15i/
On those instructions I only see how to root your phone, which includes flashing MT11i kernel.
Now hear this. If you said all this info before, you would get your solution by now.
Flashing MT11i kernel on MT15i gives that error. And I would have told you that if you gave all the info you have. And no need to go around the web for instructions, everything you need is here, if you had checked this (sticky) thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1678690 you would noticed that flashing only kernel cause errors.
For start flash your phone with correct fw, to solve your initial question, then go on next exhibitions
And please use forum, it will be faster

Well, just follow the exact instructions the developers give when you flash something And always make a Nandroid back up first.
Furthermore: check for which phone models the roms etc. are (I9100 or anything else you have), to avoid flashing something bad.
If you're afraid for the eMMC brickbug: read the threads that are made for it for info about that.
Sent from the Matrix
The emmc brick bug only happens on stock kernel when wipe data is selected just flash any other kernel before doing anything else and then your safe. Don't flash a ROM for any other phone including the i9100G double check before flash the file name is usually .............i9100
Honestly ? Don't flash anything in the first place. Leave your phone stock & enjoy using it.
If the thought of breaking it frightens you, leave it alone.
Nandriod backup can't save you from hard brick. RTFM (or thread) is the only safe path if you can't stop the hacking itch, and don't be a hero to be the first one to try something new like leaked ROM. Good luck.

But there's always a risk, so in fact it's a matter of minimizing them. If you want be totally risk free, then you indeed have to leave it stock.

Is it needed to install manually cwm first?? @Hardcore is writing that cwm is included, but im not sure that its written into this kernel or i need to download the cwm too, but where? There is no link in the topic So all i need to flash the kernel through the stock recovery and i'll got cwm and speedmod and done or download cwm from somewhere first and flash kernel through the cwm?

Hi guys! I'm a noob, and I have some questions

Hi guys!
First of all, I'm sorry if my english sounds wierd, not my main language.
I'm not here to ask witch rom or kernel are the best, just some help.
Recently I got an S2 - GT-I9100 with stock 4.1.2 room. I'm loving this phone, and I kinda like the samsung's rom even tough it consumes a lot of battery. I'm kinda curious about CyanogenMod and using moded kernels, but, I'm kinda afraid of messing up everything and brick my phone. Checked if I had the eemc firmware insane chip and I got it, so it makes me even more insecure of trying out new stuff.
Now for the questions:
I have this phone locked to a carrier, can I still flash it?
Can I flash it even if I have the eemc bug without any problems?
Can you guys recomend a really good newbie guide with each and every step to flash and install a new kernel? (I've looked around this website and the internet, but, those that I find kinda' dont explain everything in an easy way)
I've instaled clockworkmod on my phone, but it says it dosent suport it. why not?
Can I have a custom kernel with sammy's stock room?
thanks in advance.
1) Yes, you can flash custom firmware if your phone is carrier locked
2) Yes, you can flash your phone despite having a chip susceptible to the EMMC bug, which only affects phones running rooted stock 4.0.4 firmware
3) Do not attempt to flash anything to your phone until those guides make sense. Right now they look like they 'don't explain things in an easy way' because you obviously don't know a lot about Android, and in particular this phone. If you take the time to read/learn, the guides very quickly will become easy to understand & you'll know what you're doing. Flashing without knowing what you're doing leads to busted phones & dented wallets.
4) Without knowing exactly what you flashed, I have no idea. If you want to root your phone, there is a thread stickied near the top of Q&A that has all the info you need. It honestly doesn't get any simpler than that thread. If you don't find it easy to understand, as I said above, don't do anything to your phone until you do.
5) Yes, you can run a custom kernel with a stock rom

Yes, its better not to flash it before I fully understand what I'm doing. Would you recommend some guides that I can read, from your personal experience?

If you flash Philz kernal for your software build its a safe kernal from the brick bug. If you download the zip file it will not only put the safe kernal on but also root it. Link below

What exactly is the EMMC bug?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
If you're running rooted 4.0.4 stock & you do a factory reset, there's a fair chance you'll brick your phone. For the technical version, Google/XDA search is your friend.

Hi once more!
Can I ask you for some more help? I read the post about philz kernel, understood what I have to do and I want to thank you about trying to help me. I'm sorry to bother you once more, since I prefer to be certain.
Got the GT-I9100

Baseband is I9100BULS1
Kernel version is 3.0.31-88955 [email protected] #3 SMP PREEMPT KST 2013
Compilation Number is JZO54K.I9100XWLSD
So I guess the one that I need to download and install is:

XWLSD (bootloop fixed)

Also I got SuperSU already installed, this means I have to unistall it and do this or can I install this kernel anyway?

No worries, Im happy to help.
If you already have superuser just download the "tar" file and flash it with odin as thats just the kernal.
Your build is LSD, download that one. which is philz 5.06.1
Your LSD build is quite old, have a look on samfilmware for your region as im sure you should get atleast LSW. Theres also LSZ and MS1 builds out.
Sorry here is the one you need
http://www.mediafire.com/download/q642zb02je6l1bb/PhilZ-cwm6-XWLSD-OXX-4.93.6.tar.md5
Sorry for being such a pain in the ass.
Well tbh, this phone is second hand, and the guy that sold it to me, had a custom rom on it but I asked him to flash it back to stock at the time. it came with stock 2.4 or something, but I updated it trough kies to 4.1.2. I looked around samfilmware and I only saw the build I have right now. I dont think I can update it
So I only need to get odin3, put the cellphone in dm, flash the new tar and thats it?

If you're running rooted 4.0.4 stock & you do a factory reset, there's a fair chance you'll brick your phone. For the technical version, Google/XDA search is your friend.

But the EMMC bug doesn't affect any S II phones with JB roms does it?
Correct (4.0.4 being ICS). Even if you have a susceptible chip, the firmware has to have the bug which causes the chip to be scrambled/corrupted, which means anything before 4.0.4 or anything after (or anything custom for that matter) poses no problems.

I'm at work right now, so I can only do it after work. So I just need to, follow the instructions on the NEAT ROM post to flash it? They dont say how to backup your things tough but I searched in this forum and found how to do it-. So I only need to use the cwm to back it up. Does it back up EFS folder too?
You have been so far a really helpful dude, thanks mate! Was kinda afraid of posting something here, but turns out there is really nice people around here!
Btw if the mods want I can just PM you for some help instead of posting here.

[S3 GT-i9300][Official Frimware 4.3 XEO] Problem with connecting to mobile operators

Hello,
Sometime ago i had a problem with my s3. It wouldnt turn on, and after pressing volume up+power+home i saw that some files were corrupted. Found the solution here and fixed it. But i flashed android 4.3 xeo while before i had 4.2.2 and now i can't connect to my mobile operators. I know i know, there are lots of topics like this ... are there really? I think i read everything i could find on this topic and tried the solutions but nothing helps.
To be precise:
* have full bars of connections
* i can make and receive emergency calls
* i can't make or take calls
* i can't make or receive text's
* my phone detects all operators in sight and when i want to connect it says succeeded, but in reality it didn't
* i even tried ariza patch, downloaded it and started it but it doesn;t show for me any "apply" or "patch" as i was expecting after reading tutorials,
* my imei is proper and wasnt changed in anyway
* my signal power changes so i quess that works too
Only thing i wasn't able to do is flash 4.1.2 or 4.2.2 because believe it or not there isn't any file on net i could find. All the websites that post having it disconnect downloading at 90% and says to try it tomorrow ( every day ) or buy premium.
Could some one tell me step by step if possible, how to flash newest archidroid (i have it on my other phone and i want it on s3 ) so that the network issue would be fixed? Or at least give me link to working stock firmwere 4.1.2
Thanks alot.
no one knows the fix?
Do not try to go back to earlier firmwares. Why? Modem MG4 repartitiones /efs partition so it finishes with bricked /efs so no imei and calls itp
So, how to flash custom rom? Firstly you need to root your device, e.g cf autoroot way, later flash custom recovery via odin and later its simple, just wipe data in recovery and flash zip (rom)

Your imei doesn't start 0049 or (unknown)?
Also as said by post #2 you shouldn't downgrade unless you can flash the older bootloader and efs v1
Secondly I can link you to 4.3 but you gotta tell us where are you using your phone (just country), otherwise I'll link you without the respective csc, but I can't guarantee the ROM I link won't contain country specific bloatware
Third and last, the two guys above are trying to help and your output is very rude and ungrateful, please know that this is a community forum, the community are the one helping you, again I'm js, don't bash me for helping you too, you can call it backdoor moderating, but I call it letting you know

Guys belive me. I'm not rude, in very polite way i'm informing author of 1st answer that he didnt read my post and answered questions i didnt ask, totaly off topic answer.
To second author i asked how will this device help me.
* my imei is proper and wasnt changed in anyway

And lastly snkmv as shown in the quote no my imei is fine.
Also i do not need links to firmware 4.3 as i have 4.3 and the problem i spoke.
What i ask help with is fixing that problem.
I thought that maybe flashing 4.1 would fix.
So guys pls read my 1st post, read carefully all the bulletpoints and if anyone knows something pls help.
Yes so I commented what you want to do, it wasnt the answer for your question...i read your post... MG4 isnt 4.1? So I wanted to save ur phone bro, but if you know better... Later again if im not wrong NA1 was partitioning /efs so I just wanted to tell you not to flash earlier firmwares to not to brick your /efs totailly. It's not that simple as you thought "I'll install earlier firmware, may it will help, what may happen" - no, that's not on
And now yes, this post is so off topic, but it was just comment, we're here to help together, share advices together.
Bests, have a nice day
