[Q] Galaxy Mega R-960 - Samsung Galaxy Mega

I have been searching everywhere to try and find a way to load CM11 on my USC Galaxy Mega. All I can find is a ROM for the I9200/I9205. I have been in other forums that you can flash this CM11 release on a Metro PCS Mega. Is it possible to flash this on my USC R-960 Mega or have any of you here tried?

It does flash on the Metro version. I'm not sure how close to Metro, US cell is. All you can do is try. Just make sure you have a backup of your stock ROM.

Yeah, I have tried Cm11, Slimcat and Beanstalk and all the roms flash fine but I have no touch and the screen is locked in landscape mode. Any ideas? If I revert to my backup everything is good.

When flashing there is always a risk something may go wrong..so please make sure to make a backup just in case..even though these are stock roms. :good:
NOTE!!
All links have now been updated.
Rooting:
NOTE: The Kingo Adroid Root program i have now put in the link to their site for the program as google drive was coming up with an infected file always and could not be downloaded, but link to their site is good.
If you need your phone rooted try Kingo Android Root (newest version v1.1.8.1835) and just follow the instructions the program shows.
If you need the debrick.img file for the i527m..here is the link i527m Debrick.img and use Win32DiskImager program on your pc to put the image to your extSdCard.
Here is the tar file of the i527m debrick and should be flashable with odin but cannot guarantee it will even work and am not responsible for any thing it does to your phone..try at your own risk..file here (link removed as file was not working)
Below the attached zipped file is the .pit file for the i527m Canadian version of the mega, just unzip and .pit is inside.
I have also attached below the I527M Pit-Knox Enabled Rom zip file with the pit file inside in case the pit varies from original rom to the knox enabled rom..but i am not sure it is..but it is for download just in case. :good:
Also added below is the SuperUser v1.93 zip file that can be flashed with your custom recovery..just copy it to you internal or external sdcard and flash it.
UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.93.zip
Sorry for the double posting..but it looks like the rom links do not go to were they used to, but the kernel links still work, this thread will likely have to be deleted due to the rom links are wrong now.

I have a Rogers Galaxy Mega 6.3 unlocked, using it with Virgin Mobile
Can I flash the Virgin Files to get rid of the Rogers bloat?
If you mean flashing the virgin firmware i cannot see why it would not work as the i527m is all Canadian and the firmwares also..just with different carriers is all..since you are with virgin the firmware should work fine.
This thread is key. The Rogers firmware flashed great and rooted just fine with TWRP. Question I have is has anyone installed a custom rom yet or kernal? Is there one that is preferred?
Am looking for to convert Rogers Galaxy Mega 6.3 to work with Wind mobile.
looking for .qcn file conversion like of Note 2 and S4

Here you go http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/melius as goomanager does not seem to find it ..but that link is the TWRP for the Mega 6.3 which your phone is.

are there any custom roms available for this phone yet? got it last friday and absolutely love it.
Not that I know of as the few roms that are available here on the site are for the I9200 and i9205 and the i9152 I believe and if you have a i527m like I have..I am not sure these roms will work on the i527m version of the mega..and I have not taken a chance on trying these rom.
So I have to wait and see what comes out..at least we can have root and use CWM or TWRP recovery and can modify stuff at least.

Since hotfile is shut down the links will not be good anymore..but it you need one of the Canadian roms or kernels let me know which one as I saved them all to my pc and can be put on google drive for download.

Absolutely nothing, the battery died last night and when I got home to charge it, it just started to bootloop. When I get home I'll make a short video showing what happens. My phone is rooted, but everything is stock.

We can't do custom roms without a custom recovery (cmw or twrp). I don't think custom recoveries are available yet. Unless you know something I don't (and that's very possible since I don't know much - lol).

Do you have a metro pcs mega? And if so, did you odin flash twrp on your phone?
I want to be sure before I try because I bricked my metro pcs mega the day I bought it and never got it back working. I had to go back to MetroPCS and get another one. I do not plan on bricking the one I have now. I don't want to take a chance until I know I can recover it from a soft brick.
Without having a firmware that can be flashed in odin, I'm scared to try anything.

Yes I have the Mega from Metro Pcs. That's why posted the link to the other thread.
Yeah, I rooted and and installed the recovery than was like hmm probably shouldn't have done that with out there being a firmware release but oh well. I'm wild that way.
I instilled it through Odin. the only file from that link I used was this one.. http://goo.gl/J5JAH0
Tested Working 100%
I downloaded the attached file, put phone into download mode and flashed the recovery via odin 307. I fully booted the phone and then shut it off to reboot into recovery which is now replaced with TWRP.
Now to see if I can find a lighter ROM something like extremesperia. I haven't seen any multi-carrier roms for this phone so I am not sure what will work.
I also used the backup feature and was able to backup the entire phone.

I want this phone. The ONLY thing preventing me from getting it is the lack of any CM roms for it. Oh well, I will stick with my GS2 T989 until then.
any of the gsm roms are likely to work on the metro mega, the CM 11 build definitely will as it works on the canadian mega that i have which has all the same specs as the metro mega. the only reason to get the canadian mega in the past was because it was unlocked without a locked bootloader.

I wouldn't go that far tbh...I'd be somewhat cautious as at least on my note 2...there are several variants and all have the same hardware, but run into issues flashing roms incompatible to your specific device. It's kinda guess and check as I've seen i9200 which is the 3g mega intl have a few minor apk issues vs i9205 lte on my rom alone, much less larger issues like framework and data structures or kernel variances between intl and carrier based. Just heads up from someone who builds for several different devices and hardware configs. When it comes to carriers sometimes it's hard telling what the hell they're doing lol.
One thing major is for carrier based devices of any kind, the biggest thing is the modem...If you flash an intl you may lose the carrier frequency.

[Q] att note i717 on tmobile

So I was given an galaxy note i717 att version the other day and I'd like to use it on tmobile. Anyways I unlocked the phone and flashed tmobiles radios/modems on it but I want to use a different rom on the phone. Will I mess up the phone if I put a rom on it because i changed the network modems?, and if not which rom should I use with my att note i717 on tmobile?

You can run any rom you like if you've flashed the right version of recovery. There are several 4.4.2 roms available if you want to run the latest. Depending on your area, you may get as good a signal with an att modem. Personally I'm running the BlownFuze 4.4.2 with the UVLG3 modem, with no major issues.

Any JB and up roms, you will need to flash gapps again, but your apps will come back when you log in your gmail. Just read the OP for rom you use and there will be a link to appropriate gapps, though many are the same.
If your new though, I would advise you to read up a bit. Nobody is going to replace your phone if you dont understand and as far as I know, nobody has invented a time machine yet.
Welcome aboard, its fun, but nobody is responsible but you.

Flashing to GPE

I want to get the S5 and I am getting tired of waiting on the Google Play Edition. If I go ahead and grab a T-Mobile S5 I would think we will be able to flash it to the GPE once it hits. Can anyone see any drawbacks to this that I am not aware of? TIA.

You'll be able to flash a ROM, but not convert it completely if they do the same thing as the S4. It will function the same, but no OTA basically.

Yeah OTA is not an issue as I have to have root for Viper, Xpose, etc. Besides with XDA who needs OTA. Heck they already have the S4 images before a couple of my buddies S's have even been prompted for the OTA.

No don't do that. Just custom roms flashable in recovery.

international rom fully working on Verizon Note 3

So I went ahead and risk to flash this rom. The developer said it support all note 3 models.
It is a S5/ note 4 rom. I like it. Using it as driver until jasmine updates to 2.5.
Anyways there some things of the note 4 s note that I can't use because of Knox. Here is the rom and some screen shots from me. By the way I have t-mobile service. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development/rom-t2891226
Thanks. I might give this a shot myself
?Galaxy ?Note 3?
I tried to install this on ROM slot 1 to give it a try, but it wouldn't boot. How did you install this?
I tried it on stock slot and it booted but no 4glte and lotsa bugs. . Sticking to JasmineROM 2.4.1
?Galaxy ?Note 3?
Yeah flashing a rom on slot 1 doesnt seem to work. I get lte on tmobile service. But the only bug I found was the after a reboot I loose cell connection and cant get it back.... But I'm testing roms from other variants without a kernel and so far im getting them working. We do have the same motherboard so there shouldn't be a problem on porting these roms. As of right now im porting hyperdrive from tmobile variant since its more updated than ours. Once I get it all working fine. I'll ask the developer if he let me take the porting of that here since he doesnt have a verizon note 3. Me and a friend also trying to port the sprint rom 4.4.4
What I really really really want is the liquidsmooth rom for retail edition. . Why won't they just unlock the bootloader already lol ?
do you guys know if their will be any lollipop ROMs for the Verizon Note 3? (non-dev)

Thanks ,; I will try it again after work. I am using kernel NC2. I am also going to try unmodded version. First I tried v10 modded.
Can anyone link to a working kernel for this rom? Nc2 or nc4 flashable zip if available. Thanks. Found only odin versions

What I really really really want is the liquidsmooth rom for retail edition. . Why won't they just unlock the bootloader already lol ?

If it's such an easy task why don't you unlock the bootloader? If you really really really want liquid smooth, perhaps make a more informed purchase next time and buy a dev unit or a phone whose manufacturer supports unlocking like HTC or Motorola.

You can access the apns by using voice dialer and saying APN or use *#*#4636#*#*

With a locked bootloader you will not find a flashable kernel. You can only odin flash it.
