If you think the G2 battery life is great the Flex is excellent. Go LG!

Yes, LG G2 battery is great, we all know that. It is also 3100mAh, so the comparison to the iPhone 5 (1440mAh) is apples to oranges seeing as it is more than twice as big.
There is really no point to this thread really.

That's true but from the customer point of view, they don't care what inside, they don't care what tech of the battery pack is being used, they don't care it's 1mAh or 100000mAh. What people care is how long it would last, of course, it has to be packed in the slim, thin body.

I got 48 hours battery life with 8.5 hours screen time ? g2 is the best

The battery could be 10 times as big, but if one of them can last a full day and the other only half a day, that's what's important. G2 also has bigger screen and faster processor, so it needs a bigger battery..
But I agree, there is no point to this thread. It's the same as the other 1/2 dozen talking about how great the battery life is.

Actually the A7 CPU (iPhone 5S) is faster than the Snapdragon 800. But that doesn't really matter, the screen is what uses most of the power.

Oh my god. That discussion once again. A dual core 1.3 GHz processor is not FASTER than a 2.3 GHz snapdragon 800. It's the optimisation between hardware and software that makes it appear faster - the SoC in itself is NOT faster.

Very true.
I hear the first 64bit Snapdragon will be the 410 (midrange), guessing Android will also be going that direction soon.
They haven't announced the 64 replacement for S800/805

ok we all know this but why?

we all know that the battery life is crap on the amaze. It's no surprise. What I've been wondering since is why? why is it such a battery hog. In terms of CPU and ram, it's only slightly higher than the sensation and the sensation has a great battery life. I know the sensation and Amaze are completely different phones and hardware is completely different, but what makes the amaze have such a bad battery life? anyone ever able to figure this out?

Might be the kernel, extra horsepower, less optimizations than the sensation?

Anyone have droid DNA?

Hi, I'm from overseas and I really like the droid DNA but I'm skeptical about their battery life, I mean seriously , 1080p screen with 2000mah battery? Currently I'm using evolte while this is a great phone , 1 thing that bothers me is that this phone isn't gsm capable, I preffer to have a cdma+gsm on my phone so that I don't need to carry extra phones when I'm overseas, but like I said I'm skeptical about droid DNA battery, so anyone here ever try that? I want the battery life comparisons between the two.

Well if it has the name "Evo" anywhere near it I ain't paying for it.
But then again I said that about the 3D and even this phone >.<
The s4pro chipset is more efficient then the s4 chipset. Just like how the s4 chipset is more efficient then the s3 chipset.
The OG evo uses more power and only one core(sloowww),the evo lte uses less power with more cores and a higher clock speed, I would assume the quad core chipset s4pro which is also 28-nm would have even better battery life because of the efficiency of multiple cores turning on only when needed.
However, the adreno 320 + a 440+ppi screen will take a toll on the battery, so playing HD games or using the camera would surely use a bit of power but not relative to the OG evo battery drain

PROOF?
S4 and S4 PRO uses the same krait cpu cores, both are fabricated at the same node(28 mm).
S4 pro is NOT more efficient but rather more powerful(2 cores vs 4 cores; adreno 225 vs adreno 320).
It should infact consume considerably more power especially if the apps you're running is multi threaded optimzed.

Whenever we talk about extra processing power or graphics resolution we have to flip the coin over and talk about the implications they have on battery life. One would think that, generally speaking, the more powerful the CPU/GPU, the more power it consumes. Too bad you’re wrong.
As processor technology advances a few interesting things happen. Circuit paths get smaller so power requirements drop. Less heat is produced so there’s less resistance which also contributes to a reduction in power demands.
As graphics processors get better they can take more load off the CPU which can not only make things look a whole lot nicer, it can also help reduce power consumption as well. It sounds crazy, I know.
I don’t think we’ll see batteries get any smaller (in capacity) any time soon, but looking at how much extra power is harnessed inside the the processors, the battery required to power them is a lot smaller than you might have imagined.
http://pocketnow.com/2012/10/26/snapdragon-s4-pro
Just a source,I am not looking for an argument as I did not create the s4pro,I have no say of how well it works as they intended.
My guess is that it has better battery life when using not so demanding apps ,gaming on the other hand probably uses more battery life but at a much better performance factor

How about you stop posting misinformation.
You clearly do not understand what you're talking about as all you did was copy paste.
As a said, Qualcomm S4 and Qualcomm S4 pro both use the same cpu architecture while the latter has more cores.
Both are also using the same node(28nm), so the stuff you posted about smaller circuitry as a reason it is more efficient then S4 doesn't make sense.
well obviously one says pro and one doesnt .....obviously the pro one is better becuase it says pro.
LoL
Well let's try it this way,the droid DNA has better battery life then the EVO 4g LTE even though it has to render more pixels, power a bigger screen & 4 cores instead of 2.
I do not know if the s4pro/prime is more efficient then the s4. And if I am wrong then I'm wrong and completely sorry if I came off hard on anyone. But I do know the droid DNA has stupendous battery life for its battery size.

Supposedly the s-lcd3 is more power efficient. That's the only possible reason the phone could have comparable battery life.

Eco Mode

I noticed we don't have any threads about Eco Mode. I would like to hear other users feedback / experiences?
My experience:
I turned on Eco Mode earlier this morning and haven't notice any difference performance wise. Battery wise I have seen about a 10% difference to what I would be about now. (10 hours and down to 65%, whereas I probably would be down to ~55%). From what I understand Eco Mode shuts down 2 cores, essentially making it a dual-core. I ran two quadrants (Not that these matter) with Eco Mode off 7500, and with Eco Mode on 5500 (2000 difference). I also played some games and couldn't notice anything. Honestly, I wouldn't even be able to tell if it was on or off without doing a quadrant.
Based on my experience with Eco Mode I would recommend it be turned on. At the end of a charge cycle there is potential to save 20% battery life at no cost to performance (visually). As always YMMV.
For the most part I don't see much difference. I know the phone runs cooler most of the time and a tad bit more battery life. A little bit if screen lag sometimes with it on. Most of what you will ever do with this phone won't need 4 cores so it's a nice addition.

I hope we see this as well. I read a review of the Nexus 4 a bit ago over at Ars Technica, at one point they compared the performance of it to our LGOG and found the Nexus 4 faster "out the gate" but would stutter after being under load for a while (think playing a somewhat graphically intensive game). The reviewer concluded the kernels used in the Nexus 4 allowed the processor to run full boar without much of a governor so it would start to approach the thermal barrier and subsequently hindering performance. The LGOG kernels, however, were more restricted and allowed for more substantiated performance, resulting in better battery life and a cooler phone.
See review here:
arstechnica.com/gadgets/2012/11/nexus-4-two-thirds-of-a-great-phone/
I remember reading that article, too. I don't think LG gets enough credit for their Android "skin" and the thought they put into this phone. It's not perfect, but they did a really good job in my opinion.
A
I really do believe that Google rushed android 4.2. They should have added some kind of power management to the Nexus 4...
that which the hardware people giveth...the software people taketh away.
or...
you may not need all four cores today, but before end of life i'll bet you're glad you have em. i remember folks saying "what on earth would you need 512K of RAM for?" and "Why did you get a 100GB Hard Drive, you'll never need all that space."
Will Eco Mode keep your phone in dual-core mode no matter what, or does it dynamically turn cores on/off based on what you're doing?
It's dynamic AFAIK.

I would be guessing as many people have complained about AndroidOS being out of control. However, what I was referencing was my post just above that where I said AOS should never be "MY" biggest source of battery consumption. If I get 3.5 hours of screen-on time, the battery would necessarily use more power than anything else unless there is an issue. No matter when I measure the battery stats, android os is the biggest consumer of battery. Right now I have 5hrs 35mins of charger. 23% screen power consumption with 2hrs 5 mins on time. However, I've 41% android battery consumption with on time of 3hrs 43 mins. It's a ROM or kernel thing. Not blaming our devs, they're doing the best with what they have released to them. However, there is something wrong as we should all be getting better battery life than we are with this size battery.

After having several android devices, I know that if screen on time is over 2.5 hours it should always be the highest battery usage. Also, Android OS should never be above 20%. If it is, there is a problem.

If you look at battery posts from nexus 4 users. You will see their android os % at about 6 where ours is usually 40%. Its definitely a software issue.

Battery life and screen protection

Anyone have any experience with the battery life and the screen as far as scratches go?
I would love to know what the on screen battery life is like. My Xperia Z was good for abouot 4 hours of on screen time and around 15 hours.
Don't know what to said. Show you the visual.

Normal working day. (Gmails/texting/calling/music/browsing)

I use GSAM Battery to show me the screen time used. Do you know how much screen time you have had on?

Yes bro., is not perfect but is much better than many flagship phones.
Stamina mode helping very good. The only thing I want to remove is bloatware, because sometimes phone asking me to update some things I don't wont to even see.
But again buttery is good. Better than my Galaxy s 4 (octa-core/hacked) better than my HTC one (stock) and better than my htc butterfly s (Stock) where buttery is 3200mah
Stay tuned.
Regards

Able to share more details based on this screen shot?
Out of the 10hrs + up time, how many hours of screen time is that? I thin that's the important stat. Also, what level of brightness are you on and are you on 3G all the time, did you turn on stamina mode?
Trying to compare with my S4 on 4.3 GE ROM.
I'm getting the ZU tonight :good:
So far for me, I am down to 24% after 10 hours. I won't make it through the day since I"m still up for 5 more hours. This was on moderate usage with Stamina Mode Enabled.
- one phone call
- three emails
- checked facebook twice, and instagram twice
- watched 20 minutes of youtube tho
- listened to music while working out for one hour
- 57 texts sent/received

Disable the bloat? (Settings - Applications - Find app and hit "disable")
BTW, does the ZU have the anti shatter protection on the screen like the Z? If so, is the Sony logo on the protection or on the device itself?

Oh I agree, but it'll hide that **** from your drawer at least until root is achieved Not the best solution, but it's still something.
And poop. Really Sony? Again? That's a really weird thing to do. But... I don't really care.

Does Samsung Galaxy battery last longer than iPhone?

I have an iPhone 4s and I'm planning to change to Samsung Galaxy s3 or maybe a Note III (since there's a rumor that it'll be out). I use my phone 24/7 and I wanna know which phone's battery lasts longer? o::victory:
All depends on what you are doing with the phone. Heavy user or not.
The note III is supposed to be a battery beast.
The s3 is ok. I have seen people saying it lasts longer than the old iphone and also the opposite. So, I would say there is no big difference. I have bough the samsung 3000mAh battery and cannot complain

Battery on my S3 isn't great, it's better than my xperia U, but I'm still pretty disappointed. Got a Moto G for a friend though and that thing is a battery beast.
Really good.

S3 and Iphone 4s have exactly the same battery drain. Maybe S3 will last a little longer, max 30 min.
Btw,firstly,Note 3 is out, already for a while. Secondly,Note is highly recommended,as it can last 7 hours of screen-on time and performance is beast. It's ideally designed for heavy users.
You can buy an s3 an put the Liquid Smooth Rom On it works Very Very Smooth better then the original and also you can flash custom Kernel that Optimize your Battery life i do That too and my battery still keeping full after a long Schoolday (listening music, playing games and so on)

You can always buy a zerolemon battery and your phone will last couple of days with heavy use
