I woulnd delete the att APN then.
Just choose your newly created APN for ST.
AND.. when finished creating your new APN,
dont forget to "SAVE" it.
When in your new APN settings, tap the bottom left "menu" next to the home hard button.. Menu/save...
Then go back and chose the ST apn.
Put a green dot in it then press back back back to home.
You may have to wait a few seconds for it to start the new data flow.
Good Luck

I get about 8 mbps down and 1.5 up.....It's 3g speeds basically...They state they have LTE/4G but I wouldn't hold to that one...I have never seen it yet...This what I would do...I would call and ask them if you're on the att.mvno or the tfdata mvno....If you have the newer sim on the BYOP plan..they tend to push you on the tfdata side...The att.mvno is for the older sims they were selling at get go...Also...check your mcc and mnc and see if it shows 310 for mcc and 410 for mnc...If it shows 260 for mcc that means it's a T-Mobile sim and you'll have to change the mms settings for T-Mobile...

You can also go here and put in your number and choose android 4.0/4.1 and it should also tell you what server you should be using...
http://www.straighttalk.com/wps/portal/home/support/apn#.UyxRMuXru_c
One thing I will add...I had the same similar problems with the mms on my GT-N7000 and what I did was added the settings and saved and rebooted the phone...It would sit there after rebooted sending pictures...but for some reason it takes the server about 5 minutes to identify your service and settings and finally it'll start pushing them through...
An another thing just came to mind...Under Authentication type set it for PAP and CHAP.And add default, supl, mms under APN type..Now down at the bottom set Bearer to Unspecified then save..If you have it set for LTE it won't work...Been there done that one...

Thanks Sugarman. ... yeah, I bought my Sim kit @ Walmart 3 weeks ago.
I used the att variant because I have the 9205. No LTE either because my hardware doesn't support ATT's frequency for LTE.
And im in the "tf-data" APN settings.
Good enough for the price.
Do you know if T-Mobile's no contract 50 a month plan has the LTE frequencies compatible with the 9205?
Thanks

I know it has the 1700mhz band in the service menu...Can't say if it will work for sure...To access it...go to phone..and hit *#0011# hit your menu button and hit key input..Type 1..then back...Hit menu again and hit back again...Then it you should see a menu with phone control listed hit that and you can see supported bands etc...One thing...since the last OTA update and Knox was added...My i9200 won't go in to the service menu now..but before it would with this method...

AT&T APN trick for faster speeds

First off am currently on CM9 and flashed UCLC5-Modem here- http://www.mediafire.com/?7vwp5pdsqd1v9ep
Flash it.. Then reboot...BUT I DO BELIEVE IT DOSENT MATTER WHAT MODEM YOUR CURRENTLY USING..
REMEMBER IF YOUR LTE APN DOESN'T STICK, TO DELETE YOUR OLD APN FIRST, THEN MAKE THIS ATT LTE APN THEN, SAVE IT.ENABLE IT....then make other apn if needed be...for the ones having difficulty.
GO TO MOBILE NETWORK>ACCESS POINT NAMES>ATT LTE
MAKE SURE THE SETTINGS ARE EXACTLY LIKE THIS:
AT&T APN Settings
Enter exactly as shown
Name: ATT LTE
APN: pta
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: none
APN type:default,admin,fota,mms,supl,hipri,internet
APN protocol :IPv4/IPv6 (this setting experimental and is optional)
(make sure NO spaces after commas)
BEARER: LTE (default is unspecified) play with this one..
CLICK MENU button and SAVE settings!!!!
STILL NEED STOCK APN-- in APN TYPE:MMS --this helps to insure you get mms better.

GODDAYUM! Thats fckn AWESOME! Good stuff ma man
I almost pooped my pants when i seen that.lol I've been playing with this all night. And I have to share the wealth with the community!
UCLC5 was the very first ICS leak for our Notes. If coming from stock, you can just use the following ROM link:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/22134-sgh-i717uclc5-ice-cream-sandwich/
Wonder what the speed differences are between UCLC5, UCLD3 and UCLE2. Be interesting to see someone with the time handy give it a go and compile the results into a multi-colored graph...
Confirmed!
Confirmed working on ATT stock non-rooted phone.
My DL speed at my current location was around 2-3mbps(sucks) now it just went to steady 12mbps and reaching as high as 20mbps after changing the APN settings.
Thanks!

I never have gotten lte before in my house until I flashed that modem.
My wife has a Samsung galaxy s2 from at&t as well...Her phone is not rooted....I tested her device next to mine. With that modem and settings i scored those values....Hers still gets 3-5 mpbs I tested these devices right next to each other. I believe its the combination of the modem and those settings, and or the cm9 rom?

I tried probably every modem...with countless settings to get the best performance..this seems to work the best as of now.. I will keep trying though!
My "apn type" setting is not editable. It only has three selectable options. I guess you can't do this on UCLE2.

New Straight Talk APN for BYOP - if data quits working

Update: Straight Talk's website now tells you the apn setting you should be using, to do this visit the link at the bottom of this post and follow the directions. The apn settings in this post should be the settings all new users are assigned, checking the link would tell you for sure though.
Just a heads up, if you're using Straight Talk's BYOP sim card and your data quit working, you may have been transitioned to new apn settings. I read about it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2310215 in the Nexus 4 forums.
It seems users there lost all mobile data connectivity after their service renewed. The new apn settings seemed to have restored their data connectivity. I suggest making a second apn setting on your phone with the new settings I've posted below. The reason why I suggest a second apn is so you can easily switch between apns if you lose data connectivity on the new apn, I see it as an easy troubleshooting step down the road.
Here is the new apn
Name: Straight Talk
APN: tfdata
Port: 80
MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS Proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
MMS Port: 80
Straight Talk now let's you type in your phone number on their website to look up which apn settings you should be using, it can be found here
http://www.straighttalk.com/wps/portal/home/support/apn#.UwhwZHVdX8s
I hope somebody finds this useful and hopefully doesn't cause confusion.

I tried this too on my Google Nexus 4 because the results from my speedtests have been very poor [pic attached].
Unfortunately for me, the new APN settings are not working. In the mean time, I have placed a support ticket with Straight Talk to fix this issue.

Probably because you need the new LTE sim card from ST, which only recently came out; that is if your hardware supports it, as creepy stated.

From what I've gathered, there are two different At&t apn settings for straight talk's byop sim card, either att.mvno or tfdata. I use to be on att.mvno for my apn, but when I changed to their lte sim card, my apn settings became tfdata.
I'm not sure cdma phones have programmable apn settings.

I have had problems sending mms on the i777 on non-stock based roms such as cm. I had better luck getting mms to go if I disconnected from wifi and waiting for the phone to establish a data connection before sending the mms. I never had much luck with toggling airplane mode on and off to get an mms to go. If it didn't go the first time, I'd just forward the mms I was trying to send to the same person that I was trying to originally send it to, normally the forwarded one went. I decided to forward it to them because it took less time than making a new mms message all over again. hope that helps.
In the mms proxy field put
66.209.11.33 Instead or try 66.209.11.34

You may get faster speeds, but you're not getting true LTE, because our device simply doesn't have the necessary hardware.
But I'm glad you're getting better speed, I agree with trevor, please share your setup!

Well it depends, are you porting your number or are you getting a new number from them? When I activated my straight talk sim card, I got a new number and was up in running in minutes, if not instantly.

[q] please help! Droid dna on straight talk!

I been doing alot of research before switching to straight talk with my dna
straight now offers lte with the att gsm sim
i activated my account yesterday but all i seem to get is att edge wihich is like 2g super slow!! I have internet but i cant download or send mms! And the straight talk reps are retarded!
Ive seen others post saying that they are getting hspa+ and fast 3g
i have the default apn settings that they told me to enter in and told me that there is no problem with the coverage in my area..
So my question is my dna in gsm unlocked how come im not getting the data speeds that i want??
Anybody has any new apns to share?
Please help!! Thanks!!! I been looking everywhere for answers and seem to not get any!
You wont be able to get At&T Lte with a Droid Dna,you will be limited to HSPA+ which is kinda like 3.5G LOL.
Did you change the APN settings, that is usually what you need to do.
I do not want to post links to other forums,so just Google " Straight Talk HSPA+ settings At&t " and you will find your answers.

If it's not the APN It's probably the radio mode. If it's not set to WCDMA you will only get edge over GSM. In viper Rom there is access to this menu in tweaks. If you're on stock sense the dialer code is *#*#4636#*#* That code isn't guaranteed to work but if the radio mode is on GSM ONLY then you won't get HSPA+ The reason the DNA doesn't receive Straight Talk LTE is because it doesn't support the band. An at&t unlocked lte phone would though like an HTC One or what have you.
Your APN should be "tfdata"

yes ive changed the apn numerous times looking up different apn to input but still nothing still stuck on edge!
ive seen videos of dna getting HSPA i dont know how i dont have it im in Grand Rapids, MI where coverage is superb for LTE HSPA so idk what else is there to do
I just bought Att GoPhone Just now prepaid and they said LTE too and i activated and im still on Edge network! so im like clue less now -_-
Hmm,I dont know honestly.
I have a Droid Dna on at&t and soon as I popped in my sim and changed the settings to GSM I was getting HSPA speeds.
Are you running stock or on some custom rom?
When you go to settings ,go to Call,Preferred Network, make sure GSM/UMTS is checked, press it and make sure GSM/UMTS DUAL is checked.

No MMS with stock messaging app is a known issue for the majority of Straight Talk users. Straight Talk has never addressed the issue. The only app that has ever worked for me is GOSMS.

Weird I don't have any issues with the mms in stock app. I'm a little compulsive when setting up me service I always make sure the apn settings are set to gsm/WCDMA AUTO. Then go to my stock app and clear the data and cache, then go into the app itself then settings an set under mms the max size, then enable auto relieve and enable retrieve when roaming. Then boot to recovery clear delvik and cache then reboot... Hope any of that helps.

What's your APN setting so I can try. I've tried every one posted in online forums and it has never worked for me and a large number of other people.
They are the same as what St gives you but I do leave the proxy and port blank... And I'm on a viper Rom.

APN : tfdata
PROXY : BLANK
PORT: BLANK
MMSC : http://mms-tf.net
MMS PROXY : mms3.tracfone.com
MMS PORT : 80
APN TYPE : mms

Tried deleting mms proxy and port, nothing. Messages never go through it just hangs with the little htc mms icon with the clock. If someone sends me one it shows up but says download but pushing it never downloads the message. I can see my data signal as active when I'm trying to send but it never goes through. Gosms always downloads them.

Help Straight Talk not working!!

Hi all I need help. I had straight talk working on my Galaxy Note 1717 and then all of a sudden it stopped working altogether. I do nto know what to do. I tried resetting APN but it now wont let me.
Any help would be appreciated right away.
Thanks so much
Try entering APN settings manually. Create a new one with these settings.
Name:*STRAIGHT TALK (or just any name you would like to use)
APN:*tfdata
Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
Port:*<Leave in Blank>
Username:*<Leave in Blank>
Password:*<Leave in Blank>
Server:*<Leave in Blank>
MMSC:*http://mms-tf.net
MMS proxy:*mms3.tracfone.com
MMS port:*80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type:*<Leave in Blank>
APN type: default,supl,mms
APN Protocol: Leave it to the Default one
For some reason it wont let me change the APN settings. That is part of the issue. It was like it worked for a day and then stopped. Strange.
So you tried adding a new one, and it won't let you? There's a default one you won't be able to change.
Okay I figured out how to do the apn. HA HA! new at this. I did as you said and put in those apn settings in my phone and it is not working. Argh!

Well I'm glad you figured out how to enter a new APN. Sorry it didn't fix your issue though.
Once you added the APN, did you save it, then select it so the lil dot next to it is green? You probably did but I'm asking to make sure. Sometimes rebooting and double checking the new APN is still selected helps.
Did you install any apps or make modifications in any way prior to your service issue?
One final dumb question for you. Are you sure your bill has been paid up to date? Just checking.
Is it possible that you can try your SIM card in a friends device to eliminate the possibility of a bad SIM card?

First off the sim card works it has been tested, I went to update but it said it was up to date. I have a prepaid st card which I hace 30 days left. Now. yes I saved it and set it the apn. my phone says, " Not provisioned that is crazy!! Argh this is a pain.
Update! Okay I took my phone into a repair shop with the active sim. The phone was fine and should of worked with the active sim. They tried the active sim in another phone they had and it did not work. The sim was a bran new sim card and it was the second st sim I had been through. So something is very strange it is the weirdest thing why the phone is not working on the sim cards. I called Straight talk and they told me I had to call after 24 hours because it can take up to that time for the service to be configured on the phone. I was ticked because it has never taken that long for a sm to activate.. So I am sooooo tired of this company and all these sim issues. So I am thinking of switching companies now.
here are the apn settings i use:
Name Straight Talk
APN tfdata
Port 80
MMSC http://mms-tf.net
MMS Proxy mms3.tracfone.com
MMS Port 80
MCC 310
MNC 410
APN Type default,mms,supl
APN Protocol IPv4
APN Enabled
Bearer Unspecified

So lets see.. mms works for you... is staright talk a tmo mvno? or are you using an ST AT&T sim? Do they still sell them, or did that opportunity pass? Are you using a tmo modem? what speeds do you get?

i'm using the at&t sim.
it's still listed on the straight talk website.
the speed varies from mid teen to mid thirty mbps d/l.

MMS doesn't work!

Ever since I unlocked the bootloader and rooted my phone, it seems somehow MMS is broken. I can't send or receive pictures on my phone anymore! It always says "Failed to send. Will attempt request later" or "Failed to download".
Could unlocking/rooting really have caused this? Or are there any settings I have to change? I'm on T-Mobile, and I have the same SIM card from before.

well in the ACCESS POINT you have several options for a few of the fields. Toy around with the settings until you find the correct combination.
One way you could possibly get the info is to grab a different T-Mobile phone and look at the configuration.

Sometimes I have this issue with hangouts. But when I send via messaging app it works
Here we go. Yesterday I rooted and now this morning I cant send or receive MMS and i have all my APN settings right.
Found the issue AdBlock plus is blocking MMS on port 80. If your on T-Mobile or at&t change it to 8080 if your on a prepaid like me (cricket, straight talk,net10, bla bla bla) port 80 is our only option so AdBlock will not work for us until they fix it in an update)
