how did you convert .zip to .img ???
As far as I know it's so easy by the DD commands .
enter recovery and connect phone to your PC (of course you need the drivers and enabled usb debugging) .
go to the folder where you have ''adb.exe'' ,, press and hold ''shift'' key ,, right click ,, then choose ''open command window here'' .
write :-
Code:
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmc.... of=/sdcard/system.img
{''if'' means ''input file'' ,, ''of'' means ''output file''}
where mmc.... is your system partition ,, it is diffrent from phone to phone .
and you will find it in your sd card (make sure you have enough space)
Good Luck

I realy messed up... Coby Kyros Mid1060

Hey!
A friend of mine has this new tablet - Coby Kyros Mid1060 - and ask me to install Gapps and what was missing...
The thing is... I accidentally renamed the 'boot proper' file original without copying the new one...
So, as you can imagine, i can't boot the tablet, it stucks on 'android' logo...
I've been searching for different ways to reach the file but i can't...
Before doing that renaming operation i managed to root the device and i can get to the recovery menu...
Is there a way to fix this problem?
I appreciate all your advices.
Thank you.
Same Problem
I'm having a very similar problem with that device.
I've deleted the build.prop file while trying to rename it.
Could anyone send me a copy of that file? I'm trying to replace it with an update.zip

Hello.
I'm having the same problem ... Already have some solution?
This worked for me
I made the update.zip file that you could find in attach.
It replaces a build.prop file that will allow a factory reset.
The device will reboot again.
1. copy the file to an microSD
2. plug the microSD in the tablet
3. turn the device on in recovery mode ("volume down" and "on" )
4. select "apply update from sdcard"
5. select the "update-signed.zip" file
6. reboot you device
hope this helps
If you are stuck on the bootlogo, you can always edit/add/replace files in your device. No need for flashable zips.

Hit thanks if I helped
sent from GT-S7562 , with a better stock ROM

My device wasn't detected by the computer... And there was no backup to recover...

I don't know... Don't have it..., but I can tell you that the USB debugging was disabled.
android commander is not an app its a windows program. Try connectingyour device to your PC and check android commander. If you have an insecure kernel , you can access the root of your device and make any changes you want.

Thanks.
nevertheless what I did worked for me and is a practical way for people with less skills or knowledge to solve their problem.
With that in mind I posted it.
I tried lots of thins, including connecting the computer to the tablet... nothing worked, but this did. My tablet is working now.
Original rom?
Hi there, is this the original rom file for the MID1060? My tablet is having some problems with the positioning sensor and i need to send it back to warranty, but i've modified it so it can have googleappz on it and i can't restore. Do you think that wth this i can solve it?

S III efs missing not booting

Dear Friends,
Need help please. I have installed another custom rom that was not meant for I9300 and now the EFS is corrupted. I tried installing orignal rom using ODIN but geting boot loop and the phone is not booting. On going into recovery i can see an error efs/ corupted or something like that. I have the backup of my EFS folder in tar.gz format however dont know how to install the same and recover my phone as not able to boot to android.
Please help me if someone can work it out. My phone has just 3 days of warranty left and it does not shows rooted anywhere except the count of installation is about 32 and rom says official and kernel says custom.
Please if someone can help me restore my phone back in working condition i shall always remain thankfull.
Regards,
Mush

It is essential that you have a backup of the EFS partition and a way to place it back - the first two ways that I would think about are:
a) use a good recovery - like Philz recovery, that has commands to restore EFS
b) if the format of the backup is not exactly right you might be able to boot in recovery and use ADB commands.

No for ADB you boot into recovery, connect your computer via USB and run the ADB commands from either Linux Terminal or Windows Command Prompt.
The tool here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488
May help if you're new to adb.
Otherwise it's a case of downloading and installing the drivers for your phone and the Android SDK http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Thanks for all your replies.
Just wanted to confirm if i have the efs backup in sd card as under folder backup_efs and there are two files in tar.gz format will i be able to use the phylz recovery to use this replace my efs folder? if yes then can you guide me the steps please.

I do not remember right now what creates an backup_efs folder but it really does not matter that much - the tar.gz is a "file archive" and .img is usually a partition image. Each could have minor advantages - the .img also contains the entire filesystem of the partition (and will work easier if the filesystem is bonked) but a tar.gz backup is more versatile when you have bad sectors or a changed partition.
Under an advanced recovery like Philz you would just navigate some menus and try to restore the EFS - see the info in those specific threads.
Under ADB you need to have stuff (drivers and some programs) installed in your PC, you connect the phone on USB and you run ADB commands from the command line.

[Q] Huawei G700 EMUI 1.8 B124

Hello
here i am posting here because i cant post on Miscellaneous Android Development , how ever i think i post there before while working on B5512

But my mobile does not boot into CWM recovery mode as i have seen in my previous Qmobile A8 it always restarts in the defualt recovery mode which only give options to "1. reboot, 2. update from SDcard, 3. update from cashe, 4. wipe/delete user data and wipe/delete cache and in the last there is a calibarate TP, AND OFF COURSE THESE ALL ARE THE ANDROID BUILTIN RECOVERY STEPS NOT OF THE CWM
And off course there is not any file or folder named update.app in the downloaded .zip/extracted file. "as i have mentioned above the folder contains a folder named META-INF and three img files named as boot cust and system while a .bin file named logo too.
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND HELP.

So after I select the Reworked scatter file there is only the sec_ro partition checked to flash. So after flashing it do I now select the previous scatter file and then flash everything (including preloader)?
