[solved] From ICS to Jelly Bean stuck in recovery with ICS Bootloader - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hi, Guys.
I was trying to upgrade to a JB ROM, so I started following threads here and there. I got that I need to upgrade my bootloader to a JB one, since I still have the ICS Bootloader, and that I must have a TWRP Recovery (I still have Clockwork Touch).
I finally found a package containing both, so I flashed it. I have afterwords realized that it was for tf300 and not tf201.
My tablet is now stuck at Eeepad logo, but I can still access clockwork recovery holding power+volume down. I can't actually power off the device, 'cause it keep rebooting so I'm basically suck in the recovery. Tried do restore a nandbackup, but it does't boot because I have the wrong bootloader I guess. I've tried to find the correct JB bootloader to flash it, but all the links I've found are broken, so I actually can't do anything. I'm terrified to run totally out of battery (I don't know if it's charging or not at the moment) so I need to fix it ASAP.
Has anyone a link to the correct bootloader to flash? Do I need to change recovery? If so, why? How?
Can anybody post a link to the Androwook 1.3 rom release? It seems that it has the JB bootloader included, but I can't find it anymore.
Thank you very much!

Solved with the rom linked in the second post from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1803557
Cheers.

[Q] Been out of the loop...changing roms

Howdy all,
I've been out of the loop for a bit with my TFP since the screen/digitizer broke.
When I last had it working I had installed Rooted_CWM_SparkyAsusStock_9.4.2.28-signed.
If I wanted to change the ROM, would I go back to stock with the same Android version, then update? I do have my tablet NVFlashed and the blobs all saved, but I'd like to avoid any possible brick.
Head on over to the androwook thread and search a ways back. Team Androwook had posted a guide to upgrading to the Jelly Bean boot loader that had an easy flashable zip for ya.

If you have NVFlash you can never brick.
Go to second post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674827 and follow "Upgrade instructions for ICS"
So I must be on ICS now, so I'd want to upgrade to JB correct?
I take it I can just jump from whatever I have installed now to one of the modded JB releases? Which one is considered the best so far? Stock, Androwook, Cyanogen?
Only want to watch movies, internet and a few games.
I was on stock ICS when I got nvFlash access and started throwing roms at my prime. I basically had to update to the JB bootloader before I could flash any JB-based rom. As far as I remember, there's no going back from the JB bootloader.
I simply flashed the stock JB firmware which includes the JB bootloader from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1927494
(this is the WW version, there's another thread for the US version, not that I think it matters)
This updates bootloader/rom/recovery (stock/stock/TWRP) to JB, and from there you can flash anything JB-based. Mismatching rom/bootloader will not work (i.e if one is ICS and the other is JB or visa versa) then you won't boot. I did this, but I already had nvFlash so I wasn't worried.
I have NVFlash already done...waiting for my LCD replacement screen so I can put my TFP back together and use it again.
OK, could I use the stock Asus JB to update, then flash over to Androw00k?
I'm already rooted, nvflashed, etc.
How in the hell do I boot into recovery mode with TWRP?? Any ideas, I'm on ICS

It's nothing to do with twrp. I'm guessing you have now flashed the jellybean bootloader.
Hold down volume down and power and when the 4 icons appear press volume up on the first one "rck"
Or have you flashed the wrong version of twrp and put the jellybean twrp on ICS?

I flashed twrp but only have 3 icons when I do pwr + vol down. Data Reset / Fastboot / Android.
I'm going to need a How-To for idiots guide. I've been working long hours, not a lot of time off...and I'm tired as hell all the time. I really need assistance.

Think I have it all figured out...Androwook installing now with JB
TWRP was giving me some massive problems, had to work around it and reinstall a few times before updates would work.

[Q] Help! can get in recovery! [SOLVED]

Hi people,
I need your urgent help!
My TF201 was running on hairy rom.
I wanted to update/change to CM10 latest nightly (I really dislike the asus crap).
I tried several times via TWRP and goo manager but it would boot up (only saw the asus logo).
Then I thought it might have been the recovery.
I booted in fastboot mode and flashed CWM (recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.1.8-tf201.img and md5 was correct).
Looked fine.
Then I wanted to reboot into recovery but it simply did not.
Tried it 5/6 times but nothing.
So I booted up again in fastboot mode and flashed the latest TWRP (2.3.3).
Again I rebooted to recovery but it still failed.
I do not have NVflash because I bought this device 2nd hand and it was allready upgraded to JB bootloader so I could us NV.
Is my device bricked? Is there a way to solve this?
Please help me but keep in mind, I'm a "noob" (do know stuff but not very much).
Thnx in advance!

I can get in fastboot mode but can't get in recovery mode. The latest nightlies are JB roms right?
If I can get in recovery, I could restore nandroid I made before starting this journey.
Could the custom build TWRP version from hairy be the reason? As far as I know, the only difference are cosmetics (othe backgropund and buttons, like a theme)
Sorry about the wrong section for my question. Am to pissed atm so I did not look good where I should have asked this.
Can my question be moved by somebody?
Re: [Q] Help! can get in recovery!
Well I don't know about the CM10 nightlies. But most likely that custom twrp didn't do it. I'm not an expeet in any of this stuff. Also what happens when you go to recovery? And only mods can move threads to another section
Also I edited my first post but ypu answered too quickly What version of hairu bean were tou running and did you wipe when you flashed cm10?

There is not a version of CWM that is for the Jellybean bootloader. The quickest way to hard brick your device is to install a recovery meant for ICS onto Jellybean bootloader.
If you can still access fastboot then you have a chance, if you cannot still access fastboot then I'm sorry but flashing CWM has hard bricked you.
Then I'm a lucky bastard!
Managed to reflash stock TWRP (without the theme).
After 2 times flashing, I could boot in recovery again. The nandroid was copied to external SD which I could restore and the Prime is running again!
I think I'll keep it on Hairy (which runs fine on 1.7 kernel) and will wait to the promised update (around november 2012) of Asus to 4.2 cause I really like the multi user option
Thnx all for helping me out!

[Q] I think that i've bircked my pad TF201

I have a big problem .Last week i unlocked my tf201 in order to get root.I also installed Twrp {hairy bean} .I downloaded CM10 i 've tried to flash it with goo manager but everytime it got flashed but it got stock at asus first boot logo {the one with the DEVICE IS UNLOCKED at the left and the NVIDIA LOGO at the right. After all i still get to twrp and restored from my backup.I thought thatTWRP was the problem so i want to try clockword recovery and accidentaly flashed it with ROM manager{ I still had TWRP installed} .Now it get stuck at the asus logo {stock ROM} and if i press volume down+power nothing.I tried the pin reset hole and all things but nothing.

Let me get this right. Your "NVIDIA" logo is down the bottom on the right hand side?
If it is that means you are on the Jellybean bootloader. CWM is for ICS bootloader. If you have flashed CWM while on the Jellybean bootloader and cannot get into fastboot then you have hard bricked your device.
Warranty will not be available as you have unlocked your prime and Asus will charge you to replace the motherboard.
If you originally had Hairybean TWRP on there and it was working that was not the problem as I made that and I only made it for the Jellybean bootloader. You was probably trying to flash CM10 which was only for the ICS bootloader where as CM10.1 is for the Jellybean bootloader and that is why you couldn't get it to work originally.
One last thing. Did you ever do the nvflash process and keep the backup files? I can help you fix it if you did.

[Q] Bricked?

Hey guys,
I am really hoping someone can please help me out with this, as I am travelling and relying on my transformer to get me around. This is what I’ve done: basically I didn’t like the stock software, so I updated from ICS to JB, downloaded the unlock tool, unlocked the bootloader and rooted my tablet and installed TWRP recovery
From there I installed some version of Paranoid Android which kept freezing up and being jittery, so I figured I’d play it safe with a stable cm10 build, tried to flash it with TWRP and it just got stuck on the ASUS splashscreen, which I later realised was due to TWRP not being at the latest version (did I mention I am clearly a total rookie).
So I flashed paranoid back, and tried to update TWRP which I couldn’t get my head around (GooManager wouldn’t allow me to update it) so I decided to try ClockworkMod Recovery, which I downloaded this .zip and just flashed it over the top, which I thought you could do… Now my tablet won’t boot past the Asus splashscreen, nor will it boot into recovery. I could access the bootloader screen before but now I can’t.
The only thing I can think to do that worked for someone somewhere on the internet was to just let the battery run dead and then try holding down the Vol Down + Power.
Can anyone recommend anything? Or at least tell me what I’ve done?
thanks all

CWM is not compatible with Jellybean. Unfortunately you are hard bricked.
Why didn't you make a backup with NvFlash? If you did that you could restore your tablet.

[Q] Recently unlocked having issues with Roms/Bootloaders

I have a 4.1.1 Transformer Prime that I was finally able to unlock last night. After unlocking I followed this blog post to get nvflash setup and download all of my backups. Up to this point everything went smoothly.
After such I loaded CM 10.2 and Google apps on a flash drive to load the rom but even after many reboots Flatline would not see my microSD card. It would still boot to the stock rom at this point so I booted up and put the rom and apps on the internal storage and got back into Flatline. At which point I kept getting errors for mounting the internal storage. I loaded TWRP recovery hoping for different results but found that it asked for a password right away when going into TWRP. This helped me figure out that for some reason my internal storage was encrypted. After reformatting the internal storage I was able to load TWRP without it asking for a password. Since TWRP was already loaded I tried using it to isntall CM 10.2 and gapps. Install went clean but it would never boot the rom, just bootloop. At this point I had trouble getting back into recovery, it would just bootloop and ignore my Vol down press. Eventually using nvflash as an exit to the boot loop I was able to get back into recovery. I then tried to flash CM10.1 with similar results, no bootloop, just hang at the Asus screen.
At this point I decided to change gears a little and thought I would try Androwook after seeing all the posts about it. So I loaded up the files onto my microSD and and double read the post and loaded the Upgrade Hairybean 2.31 (4.2.1) Bootloader & TWRP (2.5).zip. After the blue bar filled and it rebooted I was presented with a signature failure error, bootloader 0x000..8. Very discouraging. Booted into nvflash again, but I was presented with a problem, which is very similar to the state I am currently in.
My bootloader is hosed, I cannot get to recovery, and I am unsure as to how/which file to use for recovery from the backups I made earlier. After some searching I found a post with the ICS bootloader linked. I downloaded it and loaded it through nvflash and now I am back to having access to fastboot and recovery again. However, the bootloader version is an old version, AndroidRoot 9.4.2.28. I searched some more and found a post that claimed the bootloader was AndroidRoot 10.4.2.15. I snagged it, loaded it up through nvflash but it wont let me into recovery or fastboot. I loaded a JB recovery through nvflash hoping it might help, but it didnt. So now I'm trying to get back to something I can use. Even a stock Prime is better than one that cannot boot roms. I tried loading Flatline recovery hoping to use it to load the JB bootloader again, but it doesnt seem to ever load in the ICS bootloader.
So currently I have nvflash working, the AndroidRoot 9.4.2.28 bootloader, with TWRP ICS 2.6.3.0 as the recovery. I am hoping someone can help me get this thing to a point where I can load a rom that works or back to a stock rom.

Fair play, at least you tried and you probably learnt a lot in the process.
You have nvflash backups so don't panic. It is fixable.
I am going to send you my google talk address now over PM. Add me by going to gmail on your PC in your browser and adding me in the bottom left hand corner to chat. I will try and talk you thru it.
If you finally get to boot your transformer prime, would you mind posting here what caused all that mess and the steps you followed to solve it?
PD: Flumpster, I've been reading this forum for a week since tomorrow arrives my transformer prime, which i recently purchased on another forum, and I hope to unlock it, then run nvflash to backup the whole thing and finally install hairybean without any trouble. I would like to thank you for all the work you have done this far helping people to solve their bricks. I really appreciate the way you explain everything, it helps me understanding all this stuff. Great Job

This was a new one on me and I have no idea how he got himself into it but we managed to fix it anyhow.
He was the first person I have helped tho that needed to restore unlock-token.img, factory-config.img and bricksafe.img as he had some error saying failed to inject certificate, unrecoverable bootloader.
As long as you have all your nvflash backups you will be fine amigo.
