*** Disclamer
This is a development ROM expect bugs i do try to find all the bugs before uploading but if you find some don't be suprised
I am not responsible for any devices getting bricked, flash this at your own risk
WARNING: This will wipe everything on /system and /cache
Introduction
Hi all,
This is for both Nexus 7 (2013) WiFi/LTE deb/flo
Please note KaosDroid is tested on the Nexus 7 (2012) grouper and soon will be tested on Nexus 7 (2013) flo
Based on AOSPAL, as always KaosDroid will be compiled from source, I sometimes do add features from other sources, just post on G+ if you want something adding.
This ROM is based around my needs with a little extra.
This ROM is not only based around my needs, its also built around the community's needs. In the past if they have asked for something to be included or changed in the ROM it has been done.
I have made my own GAPPS and its placed in the gapps directory of my goo.im folder. Its not that much different from the one that AOSPA has, It Includes all the common Google Apps and some extras. It is updated every time i upload a new ROM making sure that all the gapps are up to date.
I dont mind any critism at all as long as its constructive, any ideas are also welcome!

FAQ
Some of these questions have never been asked but if youv'e thought of them or ever wondered why, here they are
Q: Why is this ROM so big when others are about 120MB in size?
A: CyanogenMod alone is 220MB. When you add all my options it gets quite large, e.g. Launchers, Browsers, Kernels and Tweaks, e.g. True Tablet UI, Stock Nav Bar, Alternative Themes, then there's apps like Adobe Flash, BBC iPlayer and a root file explorer.
Q: Have you thought of cutting the size of your ROM down by removing apps such as Flash Player and the root file explorer?
A: I have, But then it means side loading or re-downloading them, possibly setting permissions and alot more time to set up the ROM as you want it, plus its easier to have it all in one place, saves on backup storage, and if you don't want them, don't select them, thats why the options are there.
Q: Why have you changed your base from AOSP to CyanogenMod?
A: Basically CyanogenMod has fixes when it comes to bugs, loopholes and security issues, whereas AOSP doesn't have as many, its not updated as frequent, and doesn't have the CM team behind it!
Q: Can you add support for "this" or add "that" mod?
A: Yes, its usually not an issue, post the request in the thread or pm me, i will add the request to the OP, and add it in the next update, unless its slightly more complicated like gesture support, this will take time and therefore will be added a few versions later.
Q: Why so many releases so often?
A: Simple version: I lost my job and i like to learn
Not so simple version: With Android there is and always will be updates, fixes, customisations and mods that i and the community would like. I try to keep on top of these adding them in and updating regulary to keep the ROM up-to-date, also you get requests, so you add them and release the update, it keeps the community happy and your ROM up-to-date with the latest fixes and customisations that everyone wants.
Q: Why is there some bugs in almost every version?
A: Bugs are like rats, your never more than 10 feet away from one of them (10 lines of code in this case), there are going to be bugs in every ROM no matter how good the developer is. For example, in V3.6/3.6.1 there was an issue with the lockscreen not saving shortcuts, this was an issue with my ROM and any other ROM based on CM for that matter, i cannot help this, it is a CM issue, i have bugs and fixes to deal with that are on my side of the work, if i have time then yes, i will have a look at the issue try to fix it and if i do pass the findings on to the deleloper(s). Also remember that ROM's are always under development, even stable releases.
Q: What make Kaos Droid so special?
A: Besides me? The COMMUNITY! Kaos Droid was originally based around my needs and customisations and what i want. Not only that but the community has a lot of input in Kaos Droid, if they ask for a MOD, customisation or support for something it gets added which also makes the rom perfect for their needs, Kaos Droid started of as a small ROM the community spoke and the community got, its as simple as that.
Q: Why are you including requests from the community for somthing you don't or might not use?
A: Simple there are people/users out there that either don't know how or dont have the time to build a cusom ROM, and why not include the requests 99% of the time i actually use them, i have not had one request yet that i haven't used or thought it shouldn't be included.
Q: What's you aim for Kaos Droid?
A: That's easy: reliability, speed, customisation and hopefully being the best
Q: What made you decide to start building a custom ROM?
A: I liked the work other Dev's were doing and what they achived, so I thought to myself if they can do it so can I.

Great job! Love all the customizations. Running smoothly for me
Sent from my Nexus 7

Reading the credits list above, I see you have Turbo Boost credited. Does that mean it is built into the rom? I remember some issues when I used to run that on my Sensation, once the alloted space in the partitions was used up, the phone would lag big time. Don't know if that is the same situation here. It worked well before the space was used, but after a short time, would lag. I remember having to adjust swappiness values, swap space etc, but never really found the sweet spot. Anyway, just curious.

This should be in development forum, even AOSPAL is rated as unofficial PA.
Also, just want to notify that most of the ROM stuff here is based on my work. I'm currently maintaining almost all of AOSPAL repo is in the source.
By the way, good work OP. Hoping the best for you. You can ask me if you need help.
Sent from my GT-I9500

I would urge Anyone reading this post to give this rom a try! . Boot time 5 seconds and when you wipe dalvic cache / cache you watch how fast it rebuilds once boot up completes, I have never used a rom with this speed seriously.

Thanks for the Info, i assume that i would need to get a Moderator to move this thread, also i will add you to the credits as most of this is your work, and thankyou, if it wasn't for you mainating the AOSPAL source this ROM wouldn't be as good, i liked the PA rom's but the AOSPAL fitted better for what i was looking to get on my device, and then there was a few things missing like ActiveDisplay (which i also wanted) so i decide to create this rom working from the AOSPAL sources
Thanks for the kind words, i will let you know if i need any help

The link seems to be working fine for me, but at the time of writing this post this messsage does appear on goo.im website

Oddly after goo finished 'preparing my download' (at which point u get a toast message saying 'download started') I was taken to a 'this webpage cannot be displayed message' so I commented that the link wasn't working but then later upon checking my download folder KD GApps was there... so idk might have had smthg to do with the syncing... and sorry I just hadn't had time to report back to let u kno... but anyway I'm takn ur ROM for a spin... I'll report back after running it for a little while... thanks for ur work and for your quick response to my false alarm haha... (thanks button x 1000)

I will look into the CPU freq.
Yes if you install GAPPS the following happens (or should happen wip):
AOSP Browser -> Replaced by Chrome Browser
AOSP Calendar -> Replaced by Google Calendar
AOSP Email + Exchange -> Replaced by Gmail
AOSP Gallery -> Replaced By Google Photos
AOSP MMS/ Messaging --> replaced by Google Hangouts (needs to be activated)
if you want to retain any of these apps look in your sdcard/storage location for a file containing the word gapps in the name open it up and change the default values from true to false
Hope this helps, if you need anymore help let me know

This looks pretty cool! Downloading now, will be the first custom ROM on my Nexus 7 (have tried many on my phones/Nooks).
Does it make sense for GMail to replace the generic email client? I don't think so.
Does installing your GAPPS package give you anything that you wouldn't get just installing the apps from the play store?
Easy to turn autohide navbar on for all full screen apps?

I prefer AOSP email to gmail... His gapps include faceunlock and photosphere, which don't come from the play store. You can always remove gaps you don't need after you've installed the package and booted the ROM, or before if you edit the gapps .zip yourself... Immersive mode is part of android 4.4, but only some apps take advantage of the immersive mode functionality/code. Hope that helps.

Downloading ...
on MiUI (official, galnet, ndt) my galaxy use to heat up like a toast (even not like a toast i dont really like it heating up over and above 42 C often and for long)
on CM7 certain apps dont work (like no FM radio) and it definitely carries its own bugs (No video recording?!)
umm both the roms combined!! WHAT ?!!! HOLLYY ROCKKAAMOLLY!!
good luck i love how much theming and customization capability both the roms have and m sure a combo of these two would definitely be a blast

Perhaps you should consider flashing a ROM made for the i9000 instead of this one ;-)

Power off, go recovery menu, wipe cache, data, dalvik, and restart. The boot time is about 50 sec, but the first boot time little long.
Confirmed, stuck on Samsung splash. Retried twice, followed instructions as per op.

[ROM] [2014-03-01][4.4.2 (KVT49L) AOSPAL][KaosDroid V8.0.0-BETA1]

Code:
*** Disclamer
This is a development ROM expect bugs i do try to find all the bugs before uploading but if you find some don't be suprised
I am not responsible for any devices getting bricked, flash this at your own risk
WARNING: This will wipe everything on /system and /cache
Introduction
Hi all,
KaosDroid is tested on the Nexus 7 (2012) grouper and soon will be tested on Nexus 7 (2013) flo

Does the lightbulb app work?
Thanks for the kind words i'm glad to see someone call it a solid rom, considering its a beta
i was worrying that this might not work as im only testing on Nexus 7's, grouper and deb devices, so its good to see that its running alright

Everything (besides light bulb) has worked for me. There's a toggle for lightbulb, but there's no app for it; Probably why it doesn't work.
Been a dd for me so far, could probably drop the beta tag in my opinion. Buuuut, should probably wait more feedback first.

Also if you don't mind me pointing it out, the ota app force closes.. I can post log if you want. Battery drain is pretty good with ak kernel. But seems that the keyguard activity from system ui uses up a lot.

Keyguard will eat up a lot if this ROM has Lockscreen Notifications, and as I can see, it is based on AOSPAL, so it's normal for the systemui keyguard to blast its way up to that.

Keyguard will eat up a lot if this ROM has Lockscreen Notifications, and as I can see, it is based on AOSPAL, so it's normal for the systemui keyguard to blast its way up to that.

It wont actually drain your battery thou...
I mean, if you check the system ui stats youll notice that it only kept the device awake for few seconds(speaking from my experience of course)

Also if you don't mind me pointing it out, the ota app force closes.. I can post log if you want. Battery drain is pretty good with ak kernel. But seems that the keyguard activity from system ui uses up a lot.

I have noticed that the ota app died i will have a look into this as well as the battery drain Thank you for bringing this to my attention
also in your logcat i found the following lines repeated a lot
Code:
I/13:25:21.029 Xposed (29063)
RecentPanelMod: linear ramBarView not found!
I'm assuming you have a module enabled to have the recents ram bar in the recent apps menu, if i can remember correctly there is already a built in settings--> remix settings, sorry can't give much info than that i don't have the tablet with me at the moment

Yeah I got xblast, I'm using it to get the app bar to use with xhalo for multi windows. Forgot to disable a few options since I restored the app with titanium and the key guard doesn't drain much as gnome pointed out but shows on top in the battery section.

I know you dont take requests but i have some wishes for this already amazing rom:
Built in AOSP Settings - http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony-themes-apps/mod-aosp-settings-icons-t3098249
Built in Google Dialer & Contacts - http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/themes-apps/mod-dialer-mods-1-0-t3115051 (your own thread )
Built in Perfect Sound Xperia Z3C - http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-...erfect-sound-xperia-z3c-lollipop-726-t3090683
Built in Xposed framework
Maybe put in MixPlorer or CM file manager as file manager?
Is it possible to port CM12.1 Clock app to Xperia 5.0.2? The darker BG and animated icons are much better than xperia clock app imo.

not work, can install other rom, yes yes corrupt file
So far this has been the most stable debloated stock 5.0.2 rom I've used. As expected of Wajk ;D
I'm also running Xposed with a ton of mods, so that says a lot.
Can i just flash this over my existing SLiM installation, like an update, or ill have to do clean flash?
PS: Your Fix which you sent me via PM worked. Thank you.

RECOMMENDED SETTINGS
Here are some things I recommend to get the best customization, performance and battery:
- Make sure to install Xposed and SuperSU in AROMA
- If Xposed installed, modules I recommend are
Serajr Xperia Xposed (http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/xposed-serajr-xperia-xposed-lp-v1-0-27-t3094251)
Serajr Blurred SystemUI (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/xposed-serajr-blurred-ui-lp-v1-0-08-jun-t3130605)
Amplify (To make your device go EVEN longer without sacrificing pretty much anything)
*All credits go to the developers, you guys are SUPER AWESOME :good::good:

(D6633 Patch Included in AROMA)
Manually install D6633 patch (if aroma option not working):
1. Choose single SIM in AROMA, and locked bootloader.
2. Flash this patch (ALT) (Base by @Wolfbreak), if not work then try this patch V2 (Base by @Omessy7)
(Both technically should work. But I have no devices to test on. Pls try first one first, then try second one. Also do report which one works)
HOW TO INSTALL:
Recommended clean install:
1. If you are not on Sony ROM,
flash to a stock Sony firmware with flashtool (Any will do, I tested 5.1.1 and 4.4.4 firmwares)
2. Root and install recovery (TWRP Recommended)
3. Go to recovery
4. Wipe data, cache, dalvik-cache
5. Install ROM
6. Reboot and profit
Dirty install (not recommended):
1. Boot to recovery
2. Wipe cache, dalvik-cache
3. Install ROM
4. Reboot and profit

Hmmm, thought I fixed it but nope lol.
OK, here are my tweaks that tweak some basic stuff.
I know init.d is working, as the echo logs worked and there were .log files in the specified directory.
However, the IO tweaks, lmk tweaks, all don't seem to be working
Also, it will work when I manually run it in kernel audiutor
(the file in attachment, renamed to .txt so it can be uploaded)
Hey!
Here's what I've done so far,
1.0 is coming out very very soon!
-Added Blackberry apps to aroma installer!
-Added display network status bar toggle
-Added new music app
-Rewrote ALL init.d tweaks
-Added XZDR so it will be LB compatible!!
Stable version 1.0 released!! Changelogs in OP
