[Q] Change screen colors on CM 10.2 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, first of all thanks alot for all the development and crazy amount of information going on in here
I have searched but unfortunately I couldn't find a solution to my problem so I'm asking here. I recently installed official Cyanogenmod 10.2 stable release on my i9300 international S3 (since CM11 gave me some bugs) and it's pretty great so far, but I've been searching a way to change the color settings of the screen. On CM there are some built in ones but I don't really like those. On the 4.3 Stock Samsung ROM there was "Professional Photo" or something like that that I did like. Does anyone know what I can do? If I understood correctly kernels can do that sort of stuff but I didn't find a kernel to suit my needs.
Thanks in advance

Yes you understood it correctly If your Planning to run a ROM based on CM Screen modes like Dynamic, Professional Photo etc Are available only through custom Kernel.
In Sammy as v all know you can change it under settings but for CM unfortunately you have to stick to Kernel Settings to do that.
Almost All popular Kernels Have that option under Screen>MDNIE mode
All you have to do is select the right kernel
Unfortunatly You asked a Question in this Thread and Also Gave an answer for the same.
Just remeber that for CM ul have to stick to some Externel Kernel as these options wont be available with stock CM 10.2 Kernel as well
Just as a recommendation give GoogyMax , Boeffla, Agni a try as these gave me really good results(Special Thx to Dev's of the same )

Thanks for the reply
I've looked into GoogyMax and Boeffla but as far as I could tell they don't support color changing. If I do install them what can I do to change the colors?
And I have yet to install a kernel, does it come in a zip file that I can install in CWM?

I'm really frustrated because I like vanilla android and CM is just so much faster than TouchWiz (I'm no won Android Revolution HD 40.0), I switched just because of the GPS issue but I really don't want it as my daily driver.. Maybe a different AOSP based ROM you know that the GPS would work in?

Strange To hear that. Well ive never used Stock CM so cant Comment on that GPS issue.
As Far As Now the AOSP or AOKP Roms ive used have never Had this GPS issue. You Can Try Anyone From Below Thread (CM 10.2/1)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/orig-development/10-04-index-roms-t2218825
For me i would have chosen between PACMAN PARANOID n SLIMBEAN . All are great for Daily use
Also Check out This ROM. MY personal favourite Amongst All. Bug Free and Stable , Archidroid but its KK

Yes CM is definately Smoother than TouchWIz( Thx to Free RAM ). But Try out the ArchiDroid Stock Sammy ROM. You Might Like it for its smoothness
Rom recommendations are not allowed on xda. You have to try out and search for which rom suits u the best same goes with kernels

[Q] Dualboot with Sammy ROM.

Hi Guys.
I'm a quite experienced dual-booter with my i9100.
Currently I'm on JellyBam as the primary ROM, with Dorimanx 8.33 Kernel. It's great, yet there are times that I need some samsung stuff that AOSP based ROMs don't include/support.
My 2nd ROM has been MIUI v5 for a while. And although I've been maintaining it up to date, it still has many lags, at least in my case. And some issues as well.
So I wish to try out something sammy based as 2nd ROM. Until recently, I thought this wasn't possible since JB.
And then I ran by this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2199844 .
I clicked the links to the dual boot ROMs listed there but none of the links work, they're all broken.
I tried installing Biftor ROM v9 as 2nd. I wiped the 2nd ROM before flashing, and did the "fix 2nd rom permissions" afterwards.
Yet the ROM gets stuck on boot animation.
Does anyone know a Sammy JB ROM that can work as a 2nd one with my system configuration (or a similar configuration)?
Many Thanks!

Hey man, thanks for the quick reply.
I found a link to there to NeatROM that isn't broken, so I suppose I have to give this one a try.
Yet the version is not the latest (4.4, while there's already 4.8 out there).
I understand from your signature that you were able to run Biftor v9 as secondary (while the one listed there is 7.2).
How? Was your sequence of actions during installation different from what I described?
Thanks! :good:
have you see this post?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42285601&postcount=139
you will find there last Neatrom and Biftor ROM for 2nd ROM.
i can describe the sequence here, i already do this in my several threads.
But instead of the thread you have mentioned in your 1rst post, i only provide updater-script and other files needded for my DB, as you can see, NOT the entire rom.
thanks.
I can recommend you for instance chiqui boule rom or Carbono v6 made for second rom by troubadour. Running very well for a couple of weeks now. Another option could be chameleon 3.0.2 also running great with Sammy features and you can have it as first rom and 4.2.2 as second(probably works reversed aswell have not tried) without changing any scripts. Troubadour have links on his page and he made
it easy for us. Good luck.

Hi, thanks for the link.
On that page I see 3 PDF attachments - which are scripts I suppose, and one of them is for Biftor v9.
These PDF won't load, but that might be because of some IT restrictions - I'm currently at my workplace.
And you didn't link there to the ROM itself.
Can you please paste a link to one of your threads where you do explain the sequence of actions, and provide a link to the dual-boot modded Biftor v9?
Thanks!

and i add that if you want to DB with a 4.2.2 rom in 2nd rom, you can without any pb with kernel dorimanx v8.xx you have flashed before entreprise your DB, but you have to replace the boot.img (by dori img file) in the 4.2.2. ZIP ROM before flashing it in 2nd rom too,i think you know why
thanks for encouragments !

Hi,
I'd like the secondary rom to be 4.1.2 (unless there's already a stable 4.2.2 sammy based).
Thank you for the suggestions. I'd prefer to try and get Biftor v9 working, because it features call recording, which I find extremely useful in some cases. Since you managed to indeed managed to get it up and running, I know it is possible.
Is there a link to its duel-boot modified version that you can share?
Because if I just take it from here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2026911 , it doesn't boot.
Thanks

Miui 3.11.22 (v5)

Hey guys!
I am trying to use MIUI V5 3.11.22 (the latest one) on my I9300, but, seems to have some "lagging" you know?
it's not smooth and cause lags on screen changes, like entering and leaving the settings, etc...
I used to love this ROM when I had an Defy+ but now it seems to be just a lagging ROM...
It's so beautiful.
how can I use that? how can I make that without lags?
Do I have to flash another kernel? What kernel?
What you guys using with it?
Thanks!
Guys I need help.

what rom and what kernel threads are not allowed on xda as per the rules. you should try all the kernels yourself depending on which the base of the rom is.

Kernel and Sound

hi guys. i´m trying to put my i9305 LTE the best mp3 player that i can get. i read that are some kernels (siyha) that has audio adjustments that "boosts" the sound, but o confess im really noob with flashing kernels and im afraid something goes wrong..
currently, i run CM11 nightly, but i can also run the CM10.1.3, i don't care about the android version on the phone...and i only "know" cyanogen mods.
so, i ask, is there any rom that as built in some kernel like siyha (i read that boeffla does the "same") that i can just flash the rom and complete my golds for sound?
i searched and searched but really i do know any other rom´s by using them...maybe someone with more experience can help me..
thnks
dont really need a kernel for that just go to the market and install viper4android or go here to the official viper4android site on XDA. It will amp your sound easily without having to have a new kernel

Every good kernel has an Instalation Guide. Follow this steps and no problem
You must find compatible kernel.
Also you must find that kernel include app or you must use Aroma installer to change anything

I tried cm 10.1, omnirom, ct-rom and with these roms if i flash boeffla nothing happens, if i flash agni stays in bootloop..
The only rom that has what i need(kernel)is amsha but i hate the design :/
To flash a zip kernel is not the normal procedure in cwm?

With Agni, you'll have to flash a custom recovery thats able to run f2fs (check the thread, you'll be able to find a link there)
If you get the chance I'd check out SOKP, Milestone 2 is a bit buggy at the moment but they're rolling out MS3. Where most of the bugs are fixed.
Thats part of the reason why SOKP has such a huge following haha
Good Luck!
-- edit --
On the i9305, the boffela kernel + the control app (you can find it on LordBoeffla's website for free) will let you "amplify" the sound. Youll find this under the sound's tab in the boffela control app.
For the best audio, try to tweak it so then you get the minimum background "hiss" [set the android master volume around 80-90% then drop the boffela volume to an acceptable level for your earphone/headphone]
(From a semi audiophile's POV, you're better off getting a dedicated DAP if you're using the i9305 only as an Audio player. If you dont have that much music, you may want to try and stuff all of it on the on board storage as running it off the MicroSD may deter audio quality [from bottlenecks and what not])
thnks for all your helps after trying and trying, i managed to flash c-rom, and the agni kernel, i did not test exaustly but i think its this im looking for...a rom seemed like cyanogenmod and a sound tweak option...the only "problem" for now is i cannot update to the last version of c-rom, i will try to read all the posts on the right section to figure out whats happening...

[Q] Which is the most simple custom rom based on stock 4.1.2

I have CyanogenMod 10.2.0, and I'm very happy whit it, but one of its little issues is it doesn't support HDMI output whit the adapter.
So, using the dual boot option in googy max kernel, I want to flash a rom (and has to be android 4.1.2), essencially just for that. Some time ago I flash the Omega rom, but couldn't make the camera work, despite of the app I used.
Which custom rom is the simpliest (is that a word?? ), smooth, stable and -camera fully functional- ?? I'm sure there's a lot, and don't want to start an eternal debate, just a short list, please
Thanks in advance.
Edit: just realiced this goes in Galaxy SIII Q&A forum, sorry for that, how can I move it?

android kernel

hello guys
i have a question and i hope that i will find an answer
my phone is SGS II I9100 and i want to install another model ROM like S5 or nexus rom , Xperia ROM ...
if i replace the kernel of the ROM by S II , Siyah or any i9100 supported kernel, will my phone boot without risks or problems??
please helpe me to know that and thnx
It wont boot.
Wysłane z mojego Xperia Z przy użyciu Tapatalka
So what should i doing to install another ROM??
All custom roms here on XDA are specific to the device and forum where you find them.......
S2 roms can only be found in the S2 forums.....
S5 roms can only be found in the S5 forums....
Sony roms......Sony forums.....
Nexus roms.......Nexus forums
etc, etc, etc........
Look here in the S2 forums and you'll find a wide variety of roms to choose from for THIS device.......
Some are basic CyanogenMod roms, some are stock based, some are themed to look like other devices......
You have ICS, JB, KK and LP based roms to choose from......basically you would be hard pressed to exhaust all the flashing possibilities presented on this forum......
One word of caution......If you're after usability and stability, steer clear of the LP based roms......While it's good that current roms are still being compiled for the S2, it is fair to say that the LP based roms are still relatively new, and are not as stable as the older (ICS, JB & KK) roms.
I'm not going to recommend one rom over another.....For one thing, it's against XDA rules, but more importantly, using custom roms is about trial and error.....about trying things out until YOU find a rom that suits YOU......
Basically it comes down to you putting in the screen time, doing your research and experimenting.......
XDA is a friendly bunch of people, and we'll be here to help if things go wrong, but if you learn the processes before you start modifying, things shouldn't go wrong.......
So....put in the screen time, choose what's best for you, and flash away......
Good luck and happy flashing.....
Keith.

easy, use dorimanX 8.44 v005 by computoncio here: http://dorimanx.casoncia.org/index....005-COMP-[16-17]-[29-09]-JB-SGII-PWR-CORE.zip
If you want a different version, here is the link to the folder: http://dorimanx.casoncia.org/index.php?dir=V8/
(You want any V8 version of the kernel because only the V8 kernels support stock Jelly Bean.
All you had to do was use the search function on XDA or a simple google search and the answers will be there
