Did the method work? I converted my AT&T HTC One to developer edition and upgraded it to Android 4.4.2 with Sense 6.0 with bootloader locked and S-OFF. Consequently, mu HBOOT was 1.57 and when I tried to flash the 4.3 RUU, it didn't work and showed error 155 or something like that. What I had to do for solving this was to flash HBOOT 1.55 (same as 4.3 RUU) and then run the 4.3 RUU. It succeeded after that.

Thanks for putting this into a guide! It is well written and easy to follow. I was finally able to return to stock following your instructions after getting on Sense 6 but needing to return the phone for warranty services.

Need help with S-off

I have the AT&T HTC One. I unlocked using HTC-Dev, then installed TWRP and Cyanogenmod Nightlies. I'd like to convert the phone to the play edition or install roms based on the play edition for the added functionality (IR blaster, FM radio, OTA's). I've been reading darn near everything I can find about this and here's what I think I understand;
My H-boot is 1.44, so S-off should be easy using Squabbi's Htc One toolkit 2.0, but it fails everytime. I have the android SDK installed, fastboot is working. It's late and I forget the exact words, but after initiating Revone the process stops at "getting root thanks to (Dan or someone)". I even tried the Youtube video which shows S-off achieved with Revone strictly from a terminal on the phone itself. That kept giving me a failed error -6. From what I read later, I must be on an odexed 4.2.2 or earlier rom.
So, my question is, what is the best way of solving this? I was probably trying to take the easy way out, because I tried a few aosp 4.2.2 roms, not wanting to return my phone to stock and locked in order to get this accomplished. But returning to stock seems to have it's own roadblocks.
What is the best way to go about this? Thank you and thank you!
Flash a stock rooted 4.2.2 or 4.3 sense rom and use rumrunner

Will flashing a newer stock ROM update the H-boot?

no ..only firmware or a RUU will update your hboot
I got a warranty replacement and it came with HBOOT 1.55 so I thought I was doomed. But then I found rumrunner got it S-OFF pretty easy. Once S-OFF you can convert to stock HTC Developer Edition or even Google Edition both supporting OTA updates. I settled on HTC Sense and got OTA updates with no problems.
Thanks for the reply, HP79! After some searching I found out that Rumrunner supports H-boot 1.44! I am now running a fully converted At&t gpe one. Soooo happy.

I seem to be having issues because I have Win8.1 and nothing wants to work with it in order to go s-off. I have ViperOne 4.3.0 | 4.06.1540.3 | Android 4.4 Sense 5.5 | Hboot 1.55.0000. I've dl HTC Sync and drivers then deleting HTC Sync.
I can get to to rumrunner 1st bottle pouring then I get the fail message, "wtf are you doing" then "hit enter to exit" or something like that..
I say issues because I have Win8.1 and it seems thru all that I've read that 8.1 is the problem...I've been searching and reading for a few days not and I'm burnt out. I need to fire up a fatty.
Anyway, WTF am I doing wrong?
Thanks for any and all help.
I also have the same issue.
I am on stock 4.3, HBOOT 1.55 and tried rumrunner, I got the same message. I am using windows 7, if it does matter.

[Q] stuck on jb 4.1.2

ill start off by saying, im a total nub to this. that said, a few months ago, i stock rooted my phone to scotts rom jb 4.3, ive been having issues with losing data connections recently, be it over at&ts network or wifi, didnt matter. so i decided to unroot my phone, lock the boot loader, and s-on. i tried using this ruu:
RUU_M7_UL_K44_SENSE55_MR_Cingular_US_4.18.502.7_R1 0_Radio_4T.24.3218.09_10.26.1718.01L_release_35656 5_signed_2
to go back to stock, but apparently the radios didnt match and i resorted to using the stock ruu which was:
RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_Cingular_US_1.26.502.12_Radio_4A.1 4.3250.13_10.33.1150.01_release_318450_signed_2
only problem with this is im now back to JB 4.1.2 and cant do an OTA update with AT&T. i have called their tech support to see if they could push the update, but they dont seem to know what theyre doing and said i should try "the htc website and download it from there". so anyway, my question is, can the rom be updated straight from jb 4.1.2 to kk 4.4 using an RUU? or do i have to do the updates sequentially? there was a later release with a slightly different radio which was:
RUU M7 UL JB 50 Cingular US 1.26.502.15 Radio 4A.17.3250.20 10.40.1150.04 Release 326691 Signed 2
so i dont know if i can just run that and then do the OTA for kk 4.4? or run that and then do the RUU for kk 4.4? im at a total loss.

I'm sorry so you can or can't take OTA's? If you can, you could always do that back to 4.4, only problem being at&t's wait 24hrs.The kit kat ruu should run as long as it's signed (since you are S-ON). Have you tried running it after you flashed that stock ruu?

I couldnt, but after talking to an HTC rep, they informed me that once the phone has been rooted You can't take ota updates. So I have to wait for the ruu to be released. According to them it isn't yet, so I resorted to rooting again and flashing gpe kk 4.4

The JB 4.3 RUU will take the OTA update no problem
get it from HTC here >> http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_...13_10.38j.1157.04_release_334235_signed_2.exe
you'll have to relock your bootloader if your not s-off

I did mine with Rumrunner from Windows 7. But my BL is 1.55. Dunno if that'll work for you.

you basically do the conversion in reverse. Don't lock the bootloader
use the MID change tool to put you MID back
change you CID back with fastboot
then flash the last RUU for your phone
hboot - 1.56 = a 4.3/4.4 RUU
hboot - 1.44 - 1.55 = a 4.1.2 or 4.2.2 RUU

Sounds easy , but I forgot how I did it and can't find the link any where to convert the M7 to GPE that I can understand.

[Q]HBOOT Downgrade via OTA?

I have a GPE One m7 converted from am ATT m7 and I am currently s-on and I have the 1.57 hboot. Did anyone know/think it will be possible to flash a stock ROM and recovery then flash an OTA containing a lower HBOOT version than my current one (specifically an OTA with the 1.44 HBOOT) and successfully downgrade the HBOOT to 1.44?
Any responses are greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
I didn't think you could downgrade to an h-boot version that was not used with the Android version you're on. I think 1.55 can only downgrade to 1.55.

absolutely not.
You need s-off to downgrade hboot nd must be done by flashing a RUU or a firmware in RUU mode.
