[Q] Need Help Forcing Pantech Flex To Update Through Sideload - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been trying to fix this phone for 3-4 weeks now with no luck, so I figured this would be the right place to come.
I was way too tired and I was trying to use ROM Manager to try and flash a ROM that WAS NOT meant for my phone. Long story short I got stuck in a boot loop. I get past the Pantech logo then I hang at the AT&T logo. All I have access to is the bootloader menu and stock recovery - I can get to fastboot through the bootloader menu and I can get to ADB Sideload through recovery.
I've tried everything I can think to do with no luck. Then last night I got the update.zip for last year's OTA JB update. Through sideload I tried: adb sideload c:\adb\flex-jb-update.zip
It pushes the update to the phone and unpacks it fine. But after 24% or so I get an error on the phone and the installation gets aborted. It says something about the AT&T Family Map apk.
If I could get any pointers that would be great, 'cause I'm really not looking to send it back to AT&T. Last year I bricked my phone and I knew it wouldn't be covered by insurance so I smashed my phone to pieces and told AT&T that it got ran over by a car. Worked once, probably won't work again.
Any help would be great.
Thanks In Advance,
TJ

Just tried re-signing the update.zip and doing it again. I got the same error.
After "Verifying current system..." I get "assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/ATTFamilyMap.apk" , "3014be541877900d308d9ca725ef507c96c33af8" , "1ea33a46e2d5330e30dca81aa4f9ecb52461677c")
Installation aborted.
Urgggg.

[Q] Sony Tablet S Stuck on boot screen

Hi everyone, i have a problem with my Sony Tablet S, suddenly it's freezing and when i try to turned it back on it stuck on booting screen (with sony logo ).
then i checked to the internet and i found that i have to hard reset it, by holding down the + volume button and power button in order to get to the Android System Recovery. But then again no clue, i have tried reset to factory setting and keep stuck on boot screen. its frustating.
Prompt on my screen :
E: Fail to read boot logo flag
E: Cant Open / Dev/block/mmcblk0p5
(No Such file or directory)
E: Failed to Mount /cache (No such file or directory)
E: Cant mpunt/ cache/recovery/command
E: failed to mount /cache (No such file or directory)
E: failed to mount /cache (No such file or directory)
On the Android System Recovery there is Update System from SD Card, is there any possible ways that i can put Honeycomb virtual image on to the SD Card then make it as a bootable device, so i can boot from my SD Card.
Please help! thanks a lot !
If it was previously on Honeycomb, and you could find someone with a rooted Tablet running ICS from the same region and same version (WiFi vs 3G etc) then you might be able to recover it.
You would need to get them to install the rescue-bcakdoor on their device, allowing them to download the OTA update file. You could then try and ABD push that file onto your device's storage and install from the Recovery menu.
Just a thought! Otherwise, you could try sending it back under Warranty or something..
Disclaimer: This is by no means a tested solution and you may want to check on a few things before trying this. I take no responsibility for anything that happens as a result of this procedure. As always, I recommend trying Sony's Warranty and Repairs department for an official, warranty-valid repair.

I have the same problem with my Sony tablet s, i udated it to 4.0.3, it was working fine till yesterday when it would not start, its stuck at the logo, ive tried factory reset, but nothing changed, i did not have a recovery data either.
i would appreciate if some one would guide me how to fix it, either upload the ota update file, can i root it some how or flash it by using an UPDATE.Zip on memory card and try system recovery using android 3.2.1 ota file. please help

I got the same problem yesterday(29. May), it might be google did something via OTA. I'm using China version, changed region to US and upgraded it to ICS, but unfortunatlly, can't root in ICS now. Yesterday, it suddenly stuck and can't reboot any more. always stuck on Starting Screen. I called Sony Customer Center, and follow their struture to reset the tablet, but not help. Can any one help me to fix it....

I'm not too sure about easy fixes (I'd have to work through it a lot more, which is tricky without the error), but I know that it can't be Google. Google neither could nor would release an OTA package that aggressively downloaded to the device, installed and then broke something at system boot-level. Doesn't really work like that.

If you have this problem and you don't have a rooted tablet, you won't be able to downgrade. you must send it back for repair, since it can't reboot normally, sony won't detect any self bricking tracks, so warranty is still in the game, had the same problem to with Region Changer somewhere in V2.1 or something.
Goodluck.!
I have the same problem too, and I can't send it to sony service because it's not on sale in my country. I look forward to deal with it through sd card. Can't use USB connection. (not rooted too).
I have a similar issue, but mine seems to be stuck on the bootscreen animation (with the swirly yellow lines traveling from one side to the other). Haven't tried the power + volume up yet, will try that to see if I can hard reset. I was rooted on HC, but decided to take the ICS update so I believe that I'm unrooted at this point--still unsure though.

Same problem here
Have tried all of the tips in this post...Still stucked with the Sony logo..
I bought my in Krakow, Poland, but lives in Norway... it has the /P on the back instead of the /N.
Do you know if the guarantee is worldwide? If I can drop this to a Sony shop in Norway?
I dont have the receipt anymore, because I claimed a refound from the company I work in...
Thanks
Rune
What color is on the tabblet?
Is it green or red?
I think if its green, there is no fix.
If its red, use the battery completely then recharge it until green light.
Try after that. Mine was fixed whit same problem.
Well, I've tried everything that I've found on the forums/internet to no avail. Just contacted Sony support and am having them send me a box to ship it back for repairs (luckily I only bought it last December). The operator on the phone says that it's most likely a hardware issue if it doesn't get pass the "Sony" logo. This leaves me a bad taste with Sony, won't be buying a tab or phone from them again.
I have had the same issue, so will be going back to Sony soon for a repair. Disappointed as I've only had it 6 weeks, but as long as the repair service is good I'll be ok.
Same problem here tonight. Unreal. Purchased last August. Won't buy another Sony again. First it was the constant soft resets in order to power on. Now this.
I got the same problem on my sony tablet s device too model SGPT111US/S anykne fixed this erorr yet?
Now i can't do any things because it stoped at logo SONY, please help, any flasher or rom support this device from pc ?
Just got off the phone with tech support. Couldn't even get it to do a factory reset. Stuck on system restore screen. Sending it in for repair. Very disappointing. Paid $500 for this thing. Didn't last a year. A few more weeks and I would have been out of luck on the warranty.

[Q] Stuck in ATT Rethink Possible Bootloop

Here is the story so far. I rooted my phone and got a little carefree with Titanium back up and uninstalled some essential gapps. I was able to get into download mode and am using LGNPST to restore my device to factory settings. The issue is I keep running into is I am getting stuck at 85%, which I know is a common error point in the LGNPST process. I turn the phone off and power it back on while keeping the phone plugged in and the phone reboots. After a few minutes I finally get an error message saying the following
Process:Upgrade_Masterbin
SubProc: Masterbin Download
Cause: Error: Fail opening port
Any kind of help would be much appreciated
Thanks!
Desconect the phone and do a hard reset.
Alright that seemed to get my farther. After a hard reset I was able to catch a glimpse of the phone setup before the phone immediately shut off. I am going to try and re install stock firmware through LGNPST again to see if this will work finally. Thanks!
Instal the 11c update anf root with the universal root.

DC, MD, VA Help

Good Morning,
I am looking for someone to help me figure out what I have done to my phone. I recently purchase a ZU GPE and it worked fine. It did not want to update to Lollipop. I start doing research on how up update the phone after receiving no help from Sony or from Google. I would get the notification it was ready for an update however, every time I tried to update the phone, I would get an error message and the phone would restart. After doing the research here, I decided I needed to flash the new firmware on the phone. I unlocked the bootloader, and tried to flash 5.0 on the phone using flashtool. When the phone restarted, it gave me a new error "no command". I have tired to reboot the phone several times, flash the boot/fotakernel/system on the phone and none of them are working with the flashtool. I tried rebooting the phone into recovery mode and nothing happens.
If someone lives in the DC/Maryland/Virginia areas have any experience with these type of phone I sure need your help and assistance.

Rebooting at HTC screen

Hello. I have a Sprint M9. It had been acting flaking lately (I would try to install the latest update, and it would reboot without installing and report that the phone had recovered from an error and ask if I wanted to send to HTC). Tonight, I was trying to use DLNA to play video from my phone to my TV, I was in settings and gave DLNA permission to access my storage. As soon as I did that the phone rebooted without warning and continues in a loop of displaying the HTC logo, then restarting over and over.
I can get into bootloader, download, and recovery mode by holding down the volume down key. I have tried Wipe Cache Partition and Wipe Data, but the phone still will not get out of the loop.
Phone is stock. I have never tried to root or disable S-on or load my own recovery.
What, if anything, can I do to get my phone working again?
Just tried doing what I think is called RUU? I downloaded the .exe from this site:
http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m9-sprint/news/
It found my phone, and rebooted into download mode. It tried to flash my rom, but shortly after trying to send the file (progress bar jumped from 0% to 100% in 1/2 second). The utility gives me a Error [155]: Unknown Error. I've tried a couple times and get the same problem each time.
The utility reports I have version 3.41.651.21 and tries to flash to 3.41.651.31
Great, now it is telling me my software has been modified. (it hasn't) The only things I've done is run the RUU and reboot into recover to clear cache/data. Bad NAND?
Well, found out why RUU wouldn't work. Low battery. Apparently it ate a lot more battery than I realized while it was in the reboot cycle. Tried manually flashing the firmware and fastboot told me the reason it was failing. C'mon HTC, if the CLI can tell me there's not enough battery to proceed, your GUI utility should be able to as well.
Still leads to the question of:
- Why did this happen in the first place
- This is actually the second time I've had a problem with OTA, with the phone thinking the system had been modified. So either the OTA failing somehow modified the system before failing, or there's a bigger issue afoot. (as noted above, this phone is stock, I've never tried to root, install a custom recovery, or anything else)

Same thing happened to me. The update that Sprint pushed last Wednesday completely bricked my HTC One M9. Same failure mode that you experienced. Sprint technical center was unable to do anything with it, so they are replacing it, allegedly ( been waiting a week for said replacement ).
I talked to a few other people who had the same problem, by the way. Someone in Sprint's QA team completely dropped the ball on this update.
Well, even after RUU it says my system has been modified and the phone will no longer boot into recovery. Just errors back to Download with the message that recovery couldn't launch.
I've also now got intermittent problems with the com.android.settings crashing. So I've thrown in the towel and purchased my first non HTC phone since the original Windows Mobile days.
Hello there. The same problem has come to my mind and the phone has been off for almost a month. Did you solve your problem? If you could solve it, how did you do it? I sent you above the original stock rom set. Nothing changed. The phone developer rum works. but the original 0pja200 rom is starting again.
my phone soft bricked, unlocked bootloader and S-off. Whether it is possible without blocking bootloader flashed RUU rom?

H850 European - Rooting/ Getting back to stock ROM

Hi all, attempted to root my phone today following this guide.
I got right up to step 9 but upon trying to reboot and launch from TWRP I began to have trouble. I've been able to access TWRP once, but after confirming install of SuperSU (step 11 here, my phone booted to the LG splash and I got the boot loop saying 'Your phone is unsecure, bootloader is unlocked' or words to that effect. Orange ! triangle.
I can launch to fastboot, or download mode. Turning on to a factory reset sends me back to a boot loop after confirming I would like to reset (leading me to believe I've not got a stock ROM in there at all).
Now when I try to flash any version of TWRP from command prompt in my ADB folder, I'm told my phone is corrupt and it won't allow me to flash.
Alternatively, trying to flash a stock ROM doesn't work either. LGUP does not recognise my model, it only shows COM Ports: [COM4, H85020s]. I've also tried using UPPERCUT but I get the following error: "Error reading from file: C:\Users\...\Roaming\Temp\F9FB5BD\TempFolder\UPPERCUT.exe. Verify the file exists and that you can access it." I've attempted running UPPERCUT from various locations, extracted.
I'm on Windows 10 and I've been trying desperately for the last 12 hours crawling through this site/ other articles for some kind of solution to give my phone SOME kind of functionality. Ultimate goal was LineageOS but now I'd be more than happy getting back to stock. I'd really appreciate any help, hope I've given enough information.
