I recently recieved a Double Power M975 9" tablet as a gift. I have been unable to find any information regarding rooting this tablet.
I am not a total n00b, but rooting is not my forte. I can follow instructions and make logical connections well enough to do a root, but I am honestly at a loss for how to root this thing.
I don't know what all information is required for someone smarter than I to figure it out and relay the steps, but here's the basic info of the Tablet.
Double Power M975 (aka DOPO)
Android Version 4.04
Kernel 3.08+ (also says [email protected] #99, dunno if that's important)
Build Number A9 v01b
Internal Storage is 0.98Gb, with NAND Flash of 5.27Gb, and I have a 32Gb Micro SD card in it.
9" Screen
If anyone knows how to root this thing, or if you need more info, please let me know below.

I'm actually surprised there isn't more info or already a guide for this specific tablet, as it's available at Walmart and online, it's cheap and is the best option in its price range for size and the fact that is has Google Play pre installed. It's not a powerhouse, to be sure, but it has been around long enough that I thought someone would know how to root it already. I just wish I knew enough about rooting Android to figure it out myself.

Was in the same boat as you, so did some poking around the past few days. Just managed to root my Double Power M-975.
First problem was getting ADB drivers installed for the tablet. I found baudi's pdf that did it for me (attached below). Followed that, until the actual rooting at the end. To root, I used SferaDev's Root Rk29 Toolkit (also attached).
Hope this works for you too!

DUDE!!! Thank you so much! It totally worked!
For anyone who reads this, know that the linked .pdf is out of date. The majority of it is still valid, however the adb_usb.ini file does not exist. You will have to manually create it in the listed location (make sure to remove the .txt extension and make it an .ini) and the sdk manager file does not exist. You can access the sdk manager through eclipse.exe in the Eclipse folder.

You must have downloaded the ADT Bundle. I did too the first time.
On the Android SDK website if you click "Download for other platforms" then under "SDK tools only" select the zip file for windows you will get the package referred to in the pdf.
I also had to go into device manager and manually update the driver via the method described in the pdf.
The more you know...
Okay so how come I'm the only one not having any luck with this? I'm new to the whole rooting thing BTW...

What exactly are you having issues with? Are you getting errors? Can't download something? Be specific. The more information you give the better we can help you. Write a story if you need to.

Thanks so much for sharing this information! I just got my tablet today and I'm about to try this. My daughter has the 7" inch tablet by dopo and I'd like to find info. on how to root hers too. I've looked for months for this info. since we got hers.

I was having problems with loading Android ADB USB drivers on my computer by way of methods found for this post but found that USB drivers loaded correctly when I installed PDAnet+ for the computer. So if you are having problems installing Android ADB USB drivers give pdanet+ a try

root unlock software free from web i used it took me about 30 secs to root still having prob with custom rom so if anybody has any ideas that would be great. download free run plug tablet in and hit root. unlockroot.com

Hi, I know u posted a while back. I tried this on my M975, but my PC doesn't install the driver; it says incorrect line on INI file . Would u be willing to post your INI so I can see if we got the same format? Also, could u please explain how u used the root kit to actually root? Thnx.

1.) Install JDK, Android SDK (the zip file {choose download for other platforms}) and do everything else in steps 1-12 from the pdf in this thread.
2.) Go here (xda link) and do steps 2-11
3.) Laugh about how easy it was.
If anyone can't look at the pdf and other thread, I can post full steps.
It works. Out of every method I've tried, this one worked.
I have to add, some steps are outdated (ie. Step 7 from the link: just click "Root" on the pc screen)
And yes, the program is in Chinese - but it is easily understood (everything you need is in English)
Also, I don't know if the Moborobo program is necessary (seeing as we have drivers already) but it doesn't hurt to use it anyway.

Has anyone found a customs recovery for these dopo tablets or Roms? The 7" I got my Lil one last yr from walmart was rooted out of the box.
i got a m980 model and for some reason every time i turn off and on start with Chinese letter and need be configured again any idea?

I get to the step where I press root on the comp while it's open on my computer, an the program crashes and I fail to get root.....any clue?
EDIT: For those of you with a DOPO em63. It took a lot of research and digging, but I found an app called RootGenius. Very simple program, I ran it and it worked.

That's awesome! I actually cracked mine (a single tear rolls down my cheek) but a relative gave me hers, which is an identical model (tear dries up instantly), so I'll try this as soon as I can. Will let you all know what happens.

A friend of mine picked up a Proscan PLT7044k. Great cheap tablet from BigLots they wanted to gift me as a late birthday present. Sure it's cheap, but cheap can be good right? Especially if it's a backup device or something to tinker with.
Trouble is we're running into some issues. Fine. Great it's a cheap Chinese tablet. We both get that we're not expecting nexus or ipad mini or even kindle fire quality. However GetJar is, apparently, not working correctly, Amazon Marketplace (which it was linked to in the device) will not let you change settings, and My friend isn't wanting to try rooting to get google play working just yet because we're not sure if the Thread found on the matter has all the bugs worked out.
This Thread seems to be closest to what 'we' want but the model number is different (it's supposed t obe the same device save for the one we're working with included a hardware keyboard/case, but one never knows.)
Of Note when queried my friend only saw a one gig internal storage device instead of the four gig advertised and described the external media slot as a SD slot instead of a micro-sd.
So, since I am, for the moment, treating this device as different and not wanting to risk bricking before info can be gained on if it's worht keeping or taken back, trying to figure out the following:
Very minimum how does one get google play on this gizmo.
Is there anything that can be done about the touch screen lag?
Is there a CyanogenMod port that will work or other custom rom that might help with the issues of lag?
Any advice would be welcome/useful. Even 'RTFM' with links to other threads.
Edit: Be Aware my 'primary' computer is running linux (peppermint OS3, ubuntu 12.04 based distro.)
I just got this tablet. You have root accesses out of the box. There are 2 ways I have installed play store. Through root explorer and through adb push. google gapps for jellybean. here is the manual and firmware proscanvideo.com/item.asp?itemnmbr=PLT7044K . I can make a tute anyone needs.
I ended up taking mine back and getting a Nook Touch. Sure I'll still need to root the thing to get much use out of it beyond being an e-reader but even with it not-rooted it's still actually a pretty good experiance.
Sorry Icouldn't be a trailblazer to anyone getting a proscan and wanting to improve on it.

ok, I have tried very VERY hard to find out how to root my proscan plt7044k. I've tried following the few links that I have found, and have found them to be broken. Or the items just won't download onto my computer or just flat don't work. It appears that what I have to do is to find a driver for this thing so that my computer can recognize it, and the Curtis website doesn't give any driver information. Yes, I did download their manuals and tech material, and they DON'T WORK. All they provide is a powerpoint thing that says to "find program x, do y, etc", without providing that program. I cannot find a driver for this p.o.s. ANYWHERE, nor any that would work for an earlier model and then also "might" work for mine.
I really want to get rid of the "getjar" crap, as well as all of the bloatware that google puts into these things!

I have checked device for root it is not rooted out of the box. If you have a tutorial to actually get root it would be appreciated.

The tablet is semi rooted out of the box it only needs supersu (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053). You need to adb push this file.

You can side load the Play Store, also, what version of Android is the tablet running?

You probably have a driver problem. I use ADB Konnect (wireless ADB) To push over wifi.
Is there any possible way to flash a custom ROM to it the factory ROM has too much crap on it memory wise?

I Titanium backup to uninstall the bloat. You also can use Root explorer or adb to rename the apk extension of the bloat to get rid of the eyesore

you kngoo root, make sure your using windows...anything past vista.
i used wkindows 7 or 8 from an internet cafe and my proscan is plt7602g and it worked fine...i even reset from the android service menu (green dead dude) and it worked but make sure most of all that you have the verify apps off so you can root it. because it will still be a danger to ur tablet. there is always a bricking chance, one you instakll kingoo root and run the program plug in ur tablet press root and the app takes care of it all. and if you google kingoo app or kingoo root it will show a main website and go from there
i got my proscan PLT1077G and i haven't found a **** yet i want to change my tablet android OS but don't have a developer who can help us with this one i think proscan is not that popular

so much for this method - I used kingo root for windows, slow but works. just go grab a beer and come back in ten.
Guy's the HDX is a fairly new device, the complete line has not even begun shipping yet & development is in it's infancy.
Currently, you can root your device, but it is HIGHLY recommended that you WAIT.
Currently, there are NO, ZERO, NONE, utilities or consistent fixes for soft bricked devices. This is not good, as currently there are several things that can soft brick this device.
In no circumstances should you do any of the following:
Remove apps or any files from the system folder or any sub-directory.
Restore previous veersions of Kindle apps from a Fire HD.
Make any modifications to any of the build.prop settings, or add any lines to the build.prop
Working but not advised at this time:
Adding any files or apks to the system partition or any sub-directory
There are numerous instances of modifications causing bootloops, soft bricks & KILLING ADB access. To my knowledge, I am the only person that has successfully recovered ADB access & for all the money in the world, I could not tell you how.
If you are not extremely proficient with reverse engineering software, or you don't know all the relevant ADB commands because you have been hacking devices for years, I STRONGLY suggest you wait to even root until further development progress has been made.
If you ignore this warning, you are likely going to be on your own in trying fix it, or you may be waiting months for a consistent fix to be found.
If you like taking risk & tinkering & you like to burn hundred dollar bills just for the pretty orange flame, well, by all means, go right ahead. Just realize right now, there may not ever be a recovery for your particular dilemma & in all likelihood by ignoring this warning, you've already made your warranty null & void.

Firstly, this was posted before SafeStrap. Plus, I highly doubt even Hashcode would recommend new users mess with SafeStrap right now. I'm by no means a master developer, but I've been around a long time & I've participated in some pretty cool low level hacking with some of the old timers & I'll be the first to say that there is some funky stuff going on in the HDX. Amazon has not exactly gone out of their way to make modding safe or easy. Plus there's not a whole lot out there yet that requires an custom recovery. It may be fine for you or I, but it can open a whole other host of issues if used improperly.

Hey there I am new to this forums! Got a kindle yesterday (as a gift) and moved straight to xda to see what's cooking unfortunately I was a bit disappointed because there is no "cooking" at all. I hope this has to do with the fact that it's a new device and nobody has tried to make some roms for it yet... Nevertheless I am quite happy with it, although this fire os is a pretty pain in the eyes. Thank God I have managed to get the YouTube app sync with my Google account, plus some other gapps like drive. Well that's it for the moment, I just didn't want to make a new thread so I posted in here. So what do you think, will there be some good roms for this device? And/or maybe we could use those for the kindle fire hd?

Thanks for the info I'm super new at this but was thinking buying one of these. But now that I am acquainted with Flashing ROMs and stuff it's sort of a deal breaker if it's not being done. If I can't modify it, whats the point?

I bought a Fire HDX 7" to replace a Nook HD+ for better HW. I thought I read you could root it or at least get the google play store on it, but it appears that is not the case. I guess I misunderstood what I read. Really disappointed now.

Patience good people. Each day a few qualified devs get a little closer ... all on their own free time. A crack might be right around the corner.

You can get root and the Google Play Store on an older firmware, just not any of the newest couple. Yet (I hope).
Good to go: I was able to use hdx-toolkit with my router blocking
Hey everyone.
In case this helps, I was able to ensure that my kindle didn't update by blocking all Internet access at my firewall (Verizon FiOS router) for the device. I looked up its MAC address under "Wireless" -> "Wi-Fi" and configured a rule to block all access.
I confirmed my device version via Apps -> Settings -> System Updates -> Current Version: 13.3.1.0 (factory fresh!)
Then, using my PC I ran the hdx-toolkit 0.94 and after resolving an initial snag (the toolkit couldn't access my device) I was able to do steps 1 (driver), 5 (check if rooted which also checks connectivity), 8 (towelroot), 2 (SuperSU), 5 (confirm root), 4 (block OTA) from the toolkit menu.
Note, the toolkit doesn't want to run from a network share. I copied it down onto my computer's local hard disk first.
My specific issue preventing the ADB setup was I didn't realize the Microsoft driver (to make the device show up as a USB phone device) was blocking the ADB driver from coming up. I'm sorry I missed this. Great advise though.
A default Microsoft driver was blocking the Amazon ADB driver from coming up. After uninstalling the Microsoft driver (under device manager - Portable devices for the device "kindle") and installing the device driver for Android Composite ADB Interface, I was able to get the ADB driver to install. --Win8/Win8.1

If you ignore this warning, you are likely going to be on your own in trying fix it, or you may be waiting months for a consistent fix to be found.
If you like taking risk & tinkering & you like to burn hundred dollar bills just for the pretty orange flame, well, by all means, go right ahead. Just realize right now, there may not ever be a recovery for your particular dilemma & in all likelihood by ignoring this warning, you've already made your warranty null & void.

A Kindle Fire HDX running FireOS 4.5.2 cannot be brought to a state where it can be jailbroken and and alternate ROM installed.
Even the downgrade performed by Amazon operators is to a version too high to allow jailbreaking and installing other ROM.
Am I correct with this assessment?

to an extent yes,most custom roms cannot be installed but if you rolled back you can still root and instal the hdx nexus 2.0.2 rom which is pretty much most of what the device needs

I'm starting this thread as I managed to install win10 on my X90L (Android) YogaBook
It was not easy to find a way to fix the ACPI error but it is possible!
Will update this post in a few hours with a guide on how to do it yourself.

P.s. In attach you find the outputs from 3DMark - IceStorm Extreme (default settings), would be much appreciated if someone with the real Win version shared its score

{ etc.. } section from the DSTDroid.dsl and use it to replace the equivalent section in the DSTWin.dsl in your files.
Then compile the DSTWin.dsl with the
iasli -ta DSDTWin.dsl
command.
This is how I am reading it, but have not managed to get it to work yet.
It decompiles with the two errors you mention, but wont recompile no matter how I try it.
I am using Notepadd++ so its not hidden characters.

I never got that error, but it seems to be a problem of the ASL Compiler build not of your file.
I am using Mac so I have another build, if you want to post the file I can compile it for you .
Otherwise you can try an older release or to build the tool from source maybe?

Hi, i have the Lenovo Yoga Book Windows version, im crying to install Stock Android on it, can you PLZ write a guide about doing it, or at least if there is a way to install the kernelflinger.efi or the fastboot mode on YB windows it will be great.

Hi,
KernelFlinger is opensource and come with an installer, it should be pretty simple to install it.
Right now I don't have my YogaBook as I am travelling but I can try in the next few days
OK, Older release worked, but I get a .hex file, your instructions talk about a new aml file. Do I use the .hex file or is there another option other than the -ta one that would create the aml.

With the -ta option I get both the .hex and the .aml file but you can try -tc if it doesn't work. Maybe due to the different build
P.s. (for other people that may incur in this) If you don't get the output files check that you have as last line of the terminal

OK, I am getting 7 errors. My current theory is that the DSTDWin.dsl will only compile with the same version number of the compiler it was decompiled with. I have attached my DSDTDroid.dsl so you can have a go. At least it will prove I got things right up to that point. Might be worth posting the original DSTDWin.aml for me to try this end.
If we are lucky it might turn out that the patched DSTDWin.aml files are consistent across the same model devices.
So... It seems both pen mode and keyboard mode of holo keyboard won't work... Am I right?
It's sad that if they won't work even we install the drivers from the lenovo website

There you go I'm also updating the files DSTDWin of my blog with one with some fixes Well they depend on the settings you use in your Bios (that's why Windows may not boot after install, it changes some parameters (the wait time of the bios and the default boot partition)). When you use the builtin one is the bios that "updates" it for you but for now we need to do it by hand If we are going to end with everything working we can release a patched "Win" bios and everything will be simpler

I know There something in the DSDT (the file that tells the os which and where your pc components are) that has to be fixed to make Windows see these parts correctly

Just another Question, you as a Advance user, do you believe that we (yoga book Windows owners) can boot Android yb STOCK ROM ( i mean not the Android x86 based distros)?
Yes, but I think you would have to do the "reverse" DSDT injection (from win to android) as the official ROM has drivers for that components.
This means that, if you're lucky you would end up with our same problems (keyboard, pen and touch). If we don't fix that before
The problem with Android is that it is meant to be flashed on rom instead of being installed and this makes things more difficult.
It should be possible to flash the rom on an USB key, add grub and use it for DSDT injection like we do and see what happens.
Another problem is that the provided kernelflinger seems to have most of the security options enabled so 99% it will refuse to boot anyway.
Since it is opensource it should be possible to fix this anyway.

I know that one of the biggest barriers for completely ditching my MacBook Pro for my Pixelbook was the ability to use ADB and fastboot (upgrading Android versions, flashing TWRP, factory resetting). ADB and fastboot are installed on later versions of Chrome OS; unfortunately, these versions are too old for devices like the Pixel 2 (XL) and there isn't a ton of information on how to get them updated and working properly.
As such, I created an installation script that will push the latest versions of the platform tools to the local binary directory and install a small wrapper script so you can use the commands as you normally would. The scripts should be fairly easy to read if you have a basic understanding of the command line, I have commented them so it's clear what is going on.
The installation script can be used to install the tools for the first time as well as upgrading to newer version as they come out. The changelog for each version can be found here.
Please see the README for the full instructions and let me know if you have any questions, enjoy!

Will this work in Acer c720p, or is it too old? If not what about Samsung Chromebook pro? Would it have to be in developer mode?

fastboot doesn't report version but adb is 1.32 which is old. I don't know how recent adb was added to Chrome OS but I am sure I have used them in the past. I have lived in Canary for the last 2 years so I have no idea whether it was a Canary thing or widely available within developer mode.
Another option since you are in developer mode is Crouton and install a fullish version of Linux. adb does work within a Crouton session. Even if I was to update the version installed in Chrome OS, I would need to reinstall it every day since Canary is updated daily and sometimes two or three times a day. Even stable can be updated mid-cycle so you could get caught with the outdated one at an inopportune time.

For me personally, I bought a Chromebook for Chrome OS, not the hardware, so Crouton wasn't really an option.
You don't need to reinstall these as they are in /usr/local/bin so they're not touched during a Chrome OS upgrade.
I don't think I understand "Crouton wasn't really an option". Crouton is a simple script that installs various versions of Linux desktops that run alongside Chrome in a chroot. Probably any Chromebook made can install Crouton. The only thing required is to be in developer mode, which you are. I choose to run my sessions in a tab but it can be a separate window. Not much you can't install and run in these sessions.

Crouton was developed by a Google employee. You can create a pretty complete development environment. An i7 and 16 GB RAM are becoming more and more appealing.

First off I would like to thank you very much for making this installation script! I've been waiting the whole time since I bought my Chromebook about 3 weeks ago for somebody to post a script to install ADB/fastboot since the recent added support of the 2 to ChromeOS. ADB/fastboot support is the entire reason why I bought this Chromebook, if it did not have it, I would of been stuck buying a Windows laptop. I was really excited when I read they just added support recently for ADB/fastboot! I have a couple of small problems and if anybody can help me out, it will be greatly appreciated.
1. I cannot get ADB to work yet on my Pixel 2 XL, but fastboot works no problem. When I try to use ADB, it says device is "offline". Sometimes it says "unauthorized" when I've accepted permissions and click 'always allow from this computer' etc etc. Do I have to use a root shell to run adb/fastboot or can i use a regular shell like on my old windows laptop? Do i have to use sudo before every single command as well or just 'adb devices' like I would on a windows. I know these are noob questions but it is because I am a noob and have only used ADB/fastboot on a WIndows 7 laptop before this.
2. My other question is when I powerwashed and it booted to the user sign in screen, I tried to click enable debugging features but it said not all of the features could of been enabled. Wth does that mean? How can I fix it? Does the chromebook stay in developer mode after I powerwash it if it was in dev mode before I powerwashed it? I did return it back to the dev channel after the powerwash bc I noticed it was back on stable.
Do I have to install a custom version of Chromium OS before this will work?

No. The entire reason I got a Pixelbook is so that I could have a super stable local device and do all my heavy computing on a remote server.
