[Q] Port video player to other devices - Kindle Fire HDX 7" & 8.9" Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

So I recently replaced my hdx 7 with a nexus 7 because I needed otg capabilities. But now I'm really missing being able to play my amazon prime instant videos. Is there any way the video player apk can be ripped out and ported like was done with the HD in GB days?

No. Specific DRM & DHCP limitations prevent this. There are only 3 ways to get AVOD on a tablet. 1. Buy an iPad. 2. Buy a Kindle. 3. buy an Andorid tablet with Android version 4.2 or EARLIER (Chromium webkit kills Flash for good).

Is there any way to watch amazon instant on non-Kindle devices?

As the title states, I have Amazon Prime and a GNex, I'd LOVE to be able to watch my instant videos on my GNex but I can't seem to figure it out.
Has anyone cracked it?

I have watched Prime through the browser on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0. Simply logged into Amazon & watched from there. Should be no different than watching on a PC.
Since Amazon wont release an official app and the one from the Kindle Fire refuses to work on other ICS+ devices, you are stuck using the browser. Youll need flash player and a compatible browser that can view desktop sites. Don't use Google Chrome as it doesn't support flash, try Firefox, or the default Browser if you still have it. The site in my signature has the link to sideload flash if you need to, especially if you are on JB.

[Q] Pre-buy doubts (Hdx 8.9)

Hello, I hope this is the right place for these questions. I've been surprised when I first saw this tablet. The only thing that isn't convincing me is the Amazon OS. Today it looks like a root exploit has been found ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542456 ) Now my questions are:
Is it possible to install the Google play store?
With Silk can I normally download files from browser and read them? (like pdfs or winrar archives)
Can I transfer files from the computer with the usb cable and read them from the kindle, like films or apks? (maybe a stupid question because it is android based OS, but it's the first time I'm buying an amazon tablet so better ask before..) Thanks guys
I'm having the exact same thoughts as well. About to make a tablet buying decision between the Sony Z and this. The Amazon software is the only reason I would not go with it instead

Let's see what people, who already bought it, thinks about it
WIth root, installing the Play store is possible and will work fine if you have all the right framework files installed. This has been confirmed in the general and android development sections.
Silk will allow you to download files just fine.
You can access the Kindle just like any other Android device when plugged in via USB. That is to say, it's drag and drop file management. I have sideloaded MX Player for video playback. It's my favorite player and I've successfully watched MKV, avi, mpg, m4v files with audio encoded in DTS and Dolby 5.1. DTS decoding requires a custom codec that's available on XDA.
PDF's work just fine. I'm using EZPDF and Moon Reader+, but you can take your pick. I don't think they can be view from inside the browser if that's what you're asking. I have Chrome sideloaded and use it as my primary browser.
The Kindle has a setting to allow third party apps to be installed just like any other Android device so APK's can be installed easily.
All in all, the HDX is almost perfect. If root access will fix the customization issues (wallpapers and widgets) along with Play Store access this will be the best device on the market.
It has the best combination of screen size, screen resolution, thickness, weight, battery life, and power. Snapdragon 800 is as good as it gets for now and really make this device fly. The resolution and color production is as good as it gets confirmed by Displaymate testing and from personal experience.
If Amazon had allowed Play Store access out of the box, it would the unquestioned best tablet on the market. Thanks to XDA, we will have it shortly.
EDIT: I have the HDX 8.9

I will buy it tomorrow you convinced me I will keep you updated as soon as it arrives! You got the 16 gb version?
No. I got the 64gb version with no ads. I need all the memory I can get.

Do you know if it supports OTG? I would enjoy connecting a flash drive with a microusb-usb adapter..
Well, I just took the plunge and bought a 32gb HDX 8.9
I have zero desire to use any of Amazon's services, but the hardware on this is so perfect for what I am looking for.
I do hope that the discovered root method will lead to recovery, and custom roms, but I am not expecting that to happen either.
After looking at what can be done with apps and everything, I can probably get by on stock. If not, there is always the 30 day return window!

Personally I don't have a desire for custom roms on this device. It is stable with great battery life. Root gets me enough of the features and customization I want. Plus I get to keep the Amazon services which would most likely break with custom roms. But I'll be excited to see if Cyanogen or Paranoid Android supports this device.

As far as I know, In Canada we are limited by what Amazon can offer to us. We certainly don't get the full experience.
What specific features does root allow?

[Q] Mediapad 7 Youth 2 - Issue with flash

Good evening!
I'm having an issue with Huawei Mediapad7 Youth 2. Android version is 4.3.
No browser installed is able to play streams and according to google play, adobe flash player is not compatible, or at least the available versions... However, I can use youtube and watch its videos with no problem, but I guess that can be explained by the youtube app being present in the tablet.
It's a tablet that was part of my phone service package, so it comes with pre-installed apps and company-customized interface.
It simply doesn't even show a player on screen.
Is this an issue I can be able to fix? What can I do?
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help!

[Q] [Question] Chromecast Mirroring

Hey Guys,
Im using a tab pro 12.2 and running stock rooted deodexed, and Im wondering if I buy the chromecast dongle - will I be able to mirror my device straight to the screen (I want to mirror custom videos not through youtube etc) with mxplayer pro. My TV doesnt have any sort of wifi, but it does have a hdmi slot - hence going with chromecast.
Pixel
Yes there are ways to do this
The TV doesn't need WiFi, just your home and device (tablet, phone, PC)
I can only cast screen natively from my nexus devices or PC but there are apps that allow for this
Check the Chromecast threads for more info
Oh, and the best $35 I ever spent, over a year now and still use it daily
Ok thanks, didnt realise there was a specific chromecast forums

Netflix for Android TV on non Android TV devices (uncertified devices)?

Good afternoon everyone,
I'm pretty sure this can't be done, because is blacklisted server side, but I'd want your opinion before giving up.
Is there any way to run the Netflix apps version for Android TV on non Android TV devices?
I've downloaded "Netflix (Android TV) 4.0.4 build 1716" (com.netflix.ninja_4.0.4_build_1716-1716_minAPI22(armeabi-v7a,x86)(nodpi)_apkmirror.com.apk) from APKMirror, it installs itself well, i can login, it starts but as soon as i play a movie i get this error: We're Having Trouble Playing This Title Right Now, tvq-pq-103 (1.10.5005.CODE_NOT_AVAILABLE).
I've searched in a lot of forums and it seems like nobody has been able to find a workaround.
Netflix understand that it's not running on a "certified device" and it blocks the playback.
Is there a way to bypass this?
My device is rooted so i could even change some system files, to make it look like another device.
I've got a Probox2 Air with regular Android, which is great for me, but it's a too difficult to use for my parents, with the smartphone version of Netflix and the air mouse.
In this forum the app modder simply says "Problem - Non-android TV boxes are blacklisted": http://www.wetekforums.com/v/index....ndly-apps-modified-to-work-on-regular-android
In the thread, a lot of people are in my same situation.
I've alredy tried to uninstall all the Netflix app, clear data and cache, logout and login, but it has been useless.
I really hope you can help me somehow.
If not, i think i'm going to sell the Probox2 Air and buy a Xiaomi Mi Box 3, but i'd really like to save the money and the time.
Bye!
I had the same issue and i just found a workaround which is a great solution to force HD and ultraHD on L1 and L3 widevine devices.
find bellow the link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/netflix-hd-ultrahd-ultrahd-dolby-5-1-l1-t3535349
Kind Regards,
Nassim
I'm sorry dude but:
- That APK doesn't seem to fix my problem. That's about forcing HD but i don't care about HD, i want the Android TV version of the app.
- It seems it has a malware in it:
I signed up just to warn you all this contains a virus.
Currently only the below file is effected.
h t t p : / / 1 9 9 . 1 7 5 . 5 3 . 2 1 / n e t f l i x l a t e s t . h d o n l y . a p k (Force Enable HD only)
Im sure he will change that seeing that im saying this now.
its a trojan

- You only have 1 post and you just registered.
This all seems pretty suspicious to me.
Hi there,
I bought a android box trongle X8, with a great performance spec (2G RAM/ 16G ROM). However, i found a problem using Netflix as It apears the error message tvq-pb-103 (1.10.5005.CODE_NOT_AVAILABLE).
Then I did my first research on the net about the error message, I learned more about Netflix and its new way of authentication in order to stream HD and UHD using widevineCDM, classifying L1 for certified devices and L3 for non-certified devices. I found as well your post that mentioned the same error message but no solution or workaround.
Then during all the day, I tried a version of Netflix for normal android (not TV) that works but the quality was SD. and after that, I found the link I have just posted to you, and I tried it by deleting the spaces between letters and it works and the quality was HD.
I was trying to share what I find as there is limited articles and person who are talking about this issues and there is no solution.
About the link, there is no trojan, or I am not aware of it, I downloaded the tree links and used tested one by one. I kept the ultraHD and it works as mentioned by the link owner.
I wish I could help, and of course, I would like to have an Android version that will work for my device as well, so I will keep looking if there is any update.
Kind Regards,
Nass
In that case, sorry if I was suspicious. And thank you for your effort.
Could you confirm that the APK you liked is a mod for the regular version of Netflix, not the Android TV one?
The version is the regular version. the version that we use on the smartphone, which is not the same of course than the android tv version, I agree.
Ok! Thank you anyway.
Best regards.
Sadly, I've found no solutions form this problem.
I had to buy a device with Android TV, the Xiaomi Box 3, which is great for my parents.
If someone finds a workaround, please let me know, I would love to have the Android TV version of Netflix on my Probox2.
Bye!
I gave up, eventually.
I did a new research recently and I didn't find any news, it still seems there's no way to use the Android TV version of Netflix on a non Android TV device.
So I bought a Xiami Mi Box 3, which is great.
Cheap, with updated Android TV os, good performance, comfortable remote and certified by Netflix.
I've discovered there's also an Android TV version of Google Play Music that is way better than the regular one, that's pretty unusable on TV.
I too have a Xiaomi Mi box 3 on my main tv its awesome. I have a MXQ pro 4k in my bedroom I installed a custom rom I found on freaktab that runs Android TV you cant tell the difference between the two by looking at them the lower spec MXQ pro plays Kodi, Plex, YouTube and Pluto TV flawlessly however NO HD Netflix its stupid I pay for HD Netflix and have a device powerful enough to run it but They go out of their way by putting extra blocks to prevent users from using their app just doesn't make sense to me.
Hi cscott1!
Could you please leave us here the link to the custom ROM you're talking about? It would be nice to give it a try!

Yep, that's the main point of all of this matter.
My Probox2 was powerful enough to use Android TV Netflix app and HD streaming but Netflix doesn't want me to do it. That's silly. Anyway, they're the ones in command.

Cheers!
The fact that I couldn't find a working Netflix apk for Android TV for my uncertified device irritated me so much that I decided to make my own sort of lol you can tweak the settings of Titan BETA skin for Kodi to look and act very much like Android TV Netflix here is what you can make it look like.

here is the thread on how I did it

That's seriously really cool, mate! Congratulations!
Maybe if I had seen your work before, I would have kept my Probox2.
Thank you for posting in this thread.
Someone will have the apk mod of 3.2.2 netflix Android TV mod from the wetek forum, mega links were canceled.
I have Magisk + hide + lioemcrypto module + L1 and L3 would like to try if this apk works, very interested in the design and not in the resolution.
Hi januxool, no, I'm sorry, I didn't save it anywhere so I haven't got it.
Remote Crontrol issues Original Netflix don't scroll episodes menus
The Netflix works with the Original Remote Control? Can I change episodes 18, 20,21 with the original remote control or I need to buy a Mini-Keyboard to scroll on netflix episode menus?
Bump.
Still no way to get this working?
I'm sure with a rooted device there's a way to trick Netflix servers into thinking I'm using a certified box.
