Awesome phone!!!
Just upgraded from Galaxy S2 to Note 3 Neo.....What an amazing phone!! Really hope we get some developer love soon ....hopefully someday one of the geniuses from XDA would be able to port the Note 3 Camera App for Note 3 Neo as well (no night, golf, surround, animation modes available in Note 3 Neo camera app)!
PS: I am not able to find the setting for changing the Screen Mode on Note 3 Neo. I tried searching for this setting, but when I click on the search result for Screen Mode, it takes me to the display settings, however the option is not available there, Did Samsung remove this??

I just upgraded from Htc One to note 3 neo.I think with 2 days i am satisfied .but I hope for support and the new kit kat update.

Hey guys. Today I read about the Note 3 Neo and how it has the same resolution screen as the Note II. Is the screen PenTile or does it have the same RGB layout as the Note II?
Thanks guys.

I love this phone !
My note 3 neo satisfied my requirements, this is the best phone I ever had.
But there is one issue when tethering via wifi my phone gets too hot. Any one else got this issue.

I'm using Note 3 and Note 3 Neo, the batteri life is better (20% more) with Neo and colors of the screen also, not the speed, but the price difference is a feature to evaluate the Neo.
Completely satisfied.
I suggest the Spigen Neo Hybrid cover, fantastic!

I am pretty sure color gamut of Note 3 > Neo. Also battery is better because:
1) Neo has slower CPU
2) Neo handles lesser number of pixels
If money is an issue, I would rather get second-hand Note 3 because of developer support and better performance.

In Italy the price difference is 70 euro, online you can buy the Neo with 340 €, not bad, less more than Note 2.
I love my Neo, I think in May Kit Kat will arrive and more developers support.

I agree that there is a lot of support for note 3 exynos sm900 than the neo , but would like to ask is the speed difference really too much , after all hexa core has hmp using all 6 cores together , want to buy a new neo can any one confirm any call recording app working in neo, as far as rate is concerned , now there is a difference of about 10 k in neo and note 3 octa , I just feel neo makes a better choice of purchase cause samsung has included most of the features in neo

Call recording,
hi, i have N7505 (Exynos hexa) and first i rooted, debloated and installed Xposed and Wanam xposed module to make some tweaks to stock rom. My surprise that call recording feature was not available in Wanam Xposed module - probably due to some incompatibility or something.
But i had Titanium Backup of my apps from previous S4 (S600 version) - Wanam Xposed included. So on top of my normal instalation of Xposed, i tried to restore my Titanium backup and now call recording works just like that - but i still can not see the "enable call recording" feature available in W-Xposed - it is unticked and greyed out. But it works fine.
Exy-hexa has today 0 support (but thank you guys for root and recovery). I wanted to bring up call recording feature as a first step but when it worked for me this way.... I do not know if it will work on 4.4. which is not available yet for N7505 - but i am so happy with the device that i will probably not upgrade to 4.4. - anyway it wont get any extra super duper features.
So far i am happy with the speed+battery life+camera, i d say that S600 on my S4 that is still laying next to me is "creeping like a snail" and batt life is more than double of my S4-S600. I thing that Samsung can really make a good SoC and Snapdragons are just "benchmark hunters".
Only feature that i miss is "screen mode" - i like to set all my amoled devices to some not so oversaturated screen mode - but NEO misses this feature - but after some days i am also fine with it. CPU looks to be super fine with all of i throw in. Even my daily usage app (RDP app) is a bit snappier.
Display - yes 720p but everything looks sharp and it has nice whites, better whites than S4 and is brighter also on direct sunlight - brighter than S4.
Only concern is that CPU on stock kernel runs in "userspace" - 4xA7 constantly maxed out at 1,3ghz and 2xA15 stays on its min 800mhz - all 6 together, all the time when device idle. I saw some custom kernels from N3 where they replaced "userpace" with "ondemand" and gained some extra batt life with no power loss...but i dont know if ondemand can handle hmp this way as there is no hmp exynos device yet except this. If we had some experienced kernel builder here...I only tried to lower max frequencies from 1,3 to 1,1 and 1,0ghz - device still usable. I also tried to switch off 1 or 2 A7 cores and device really became sluggish. Only reason i wanted to try if i can get some extra juice out of it to keep reasonable speed of device. I thing there is no real need to run all 6 cores when i browse dialer, call or just read something on the screen - if device could park efectively some of its cores, batt life might be even better - but switching them off completely is not good.
Also NEO fits to my hands better than N3 - so at the end, it is good device and you might not to regret buing it. I got mine for 299EUR which is totally fair price. But i wouldnt pay 400 or more for it when initially released.

I do agree to all u say but I was looking for a way to use call recording app without rooting , so is there any app that would be able to record a call recording without root , in india only n750 3G model is available , and not 7505 model
It seems auto record does work with the note 3 octacore without rooting , just wanted to know if it works with note 3 neo too

[Q] Galaxy S vs Neo V for gaming? Help !!!

I am going to buy a new smartphone in couple of days.
For the first time i thought of buying Neo V because of its design and bravia engine display with large screen for gaming[ Ray would be little bit small to hold in both hands for gaming so dropped it ].
But,
Now i am confused to choose which phone to buy after seeing Galaxy S even though its on old model it has the same stand in the market.
I actually want to buy smartphone for HD gaming from gameloft and nonGL.
Which mobile supports all HD games
So please tell me which one should i buy....?
No idea about Galaxy S,but on Neo V modern combat 3,some other games from gameloft & games like Shadowgun, riptide works fine.
This & this should give you some ideas I guess.
Other than gaming one major plus point in Neo V I see is official ICS update from Sony while Galaxy S is limited to 2.3(no official update from samsung I think, not sure tho)

Neo V owned Galaxy s, my lil sister has that phone and we test eachother which one is faster in loading web etc and damn what is galaxy s slow haha, i laugh at her and says mine is beter then your crappy galaxy s
Now i see Galaxy R too as an option
really confused
youtube videos is a proof that galaxy s has more games supported
what shud i do now
what about galaxy r i9103
Nvidia Tegra 2 AP20H
Dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A9
ULP GeForce
1 GB RAM
go with the galaxy s , 4 inch super amoled 8gb built in memory , same price....
Dont matter of it get amoled if sony comes with oled, amolod is nothing more then,
and 8gb internal thats okay, i have 16gb in my phone and on my room lay a 32gb, so i dont care about the memory but about the maker, i usng years SE so i love SE

So the solution is mate??
Hmm i say samsung galaxy s
Samsung galaxy s... i think so. first it haves 4 inches Super AMOLED screen wich owns sony ericsson... i dont know about youre country, but here in finland galaxy s + is same price than original galaxy s... so i could get 1.4ghz processor and so if you need the phone for gaming you dont need flash or anything like that and i can say with neo that you will almost never need flashlight. And also samsung is bigger name on mobilephones but i have heard that samsung pc software "kies" is pretty bad and buggy

For gaming GPU is much more needed than super amoled screen
About Galaxy S+ vs Neo V now its a whole different scenario. With slightly bigger screen and 1.4GHz processor Galaxy S+ wins I guess.Though for some strange reason Galaxy S+ camera looks kinda crappy comparing to Neo V and Galaxy S
Anyway since OP's main requirement is gaming I'd probably go like this
Neo V > Galaxy S + >> Galaxy S
(with prize tag Neo V clearly wins,300$(Neo V) range vs 430$(Galaxy S+) range. For 430-450$ range what the hell go for Arc S which outruns both these models .Prizes are from ebay)

We are talking about the galaxy and not the +, so then can i say what about the galazy s + vs arc s ?? But galaxy s + even havo no flashlight and that important if you making fotos in the dark or something, and kies is indeed a drama to update your phone, samsung is indeed a bigger name but sony to but sony dont need so much commercials as samsung, sony have good quality and the neo have a good flashlight and camera program. But sony and samsung have no concurrency to eachother, they or both good, Amoled is nothing if so.y get oled HD
I had a Galaxy S and a found many games lagging. I had to flash Gamez Rom to play latest games.
I now sold my "S" and got a Neo and I´m NOT returning back anymore
BTW You can´t compare a S+ with a Neo
I´ve neo and galaxy tab, and just say that samsung appart from the screen scores 10-1 against.
The Neo archicteture is two years ahead of the galaxy S/ tab.
Indeed you cant compare galaxy s+ vs neo v.
What kinda **** is that:s compare then a galaxy s+ vs arc is then even wins the arc s, my games runs flawless on my neo like e warriors, riptide etc i have 24 games and thy running fast, no lag or errors, so if someone say galaxy s+ is better etc, i say go to a doctor or throw you samsung away, for me is Sony4life
P.s. Neo/Neo V have 1ghz processor and galaxy s+ 1.4 so what a difference its only 0.4 pfff

And all xperia 2011 range can be easily overclocked to 1.4 or more. I had a samsung spica before and they just don't updated the phone, so as well to the galaxy s that will never get official ICS... PLUS sony has a great software and hardware imo, and their developer world help devs here in xda! I think that's awesome from sony
For me samsung = samsuck, galaxy s2 vs xperia s -> XPERIA S! xD
I've recently had the same dilemna. and the line up of choices for me are:
Neo vs Neo V vs Galaxy S
and
Arc vs Arc S vs Galaxy S+
in the end after spending hours just holding and fiddling with the phones in the shop, based on price, power, upgradeability and looks and feel in my hand, i went for the SE NEO V + 32Gb Class 10.
Why?
Because the Galaxy S will not be updated with ICS, has a crappy Camera, doesn't have that much appeal to me, the Cortex A8 + SGX540 along with the Touch UI = LAG
Galaxy S+ is just a NEO (hardware wise) with no appeal. It's what the original Glaxy S was supposed to be. 1.4 Scorpion + Adreno 205.
ARC and ARC S. Beautiful phones, but it doesn't feel rugged enough for me.
NEO Vs NEO V. What can i say.... i got the Neo V just because it's one of the first 3 SE phones to get ICS.
Regarding Gaming... Even underclocked @ 768Mhz Dungeon Hunter 1 Rocks !!!.

Is Xiaomi Redmi Note better than SGS3?

Hello everyone,
I've had my sgs3 over a year now and enjoyed every bit of it. now im looking for a replacement but on cheaper side. it doesn't need to be a flagship and I mostly look for gamin and multimedia capabilities with best camera for the price. so I came across Xiaomi Note Enhanced version for about 200$ and it seems just about perfect. mainly Meadiatek 1.7Ghzx8 CPU, Mali-450 GPU with 2gb ram it seems like a steal. but Im afraid of what Im losing and what Im gaining.I have no expierince with MIUI evr. so if you can share your thought, Its much appreciated.
1. would MIUI run every droid game and apps like regular Android? (I know about xposed not working. but im concerned about TB, Greenify, SuperSU, Root Explorer.
2. It says Mali-450 is 1.4x improvement over Mali-400. but our SGS3 runs mali400mp4 and clocked 533. so how would this par?
3. I dont care about screen mirroring DLNA and stuff. but for sound quality I crave. so anyone have expierience with xiaomi sound, input will be a great help.
4. for the last, I would like to know your opinion as I think of giving my s3 to my gf if I got satisfied with Redmi Note. but of course never leave the forum sake of im a xda user who wouldn't use a phone in regular manner is it worth to give away s3 over this redmi note?
Thank you.
I just got the Redmi Note, maybe this will help you a little?

Custom ROMs will be a problem since there aren't enough devs to port or build roms for that device.
And I've spoken to just 2 Xiaomi users and they don't like it at all. It's not just about the number of cores in the CPU or GPU. MTK is A-7 based and offers poor performance compared to A-9 or A-15 CPU.

Damn! such a bad news. My budget is $200 dollars and the lists of phones I have in mind are: Xiaomi Redmi Note,iOcean X7 Elite,THL T11 MTK6592 and Huawei Honor 3C Quad Core.. But like you see they all have MTK.... Sinse all have the same performance I was thinking to get one well known company better..
Go for redmi note. You, as a normal user, won't give rat's ass about a15, a9 etc. The a7 octa gives enough performance for everyday use. And miui is da bomb
Sent from my HM NOTE 1W
I agree, good performance, and redmi note is a good phone

Hopefully you held off for the Note 2 it's @ 1.7GHz , not the 1.4 GHz the original note was at.
Development is centered at the MIUI site, go there for more info.
Over all the phone is fast, very fast, so fast you will only see the difference between the A9/17 or Snapdragon 800 8274AB 2.3GHz and the A7 by software measurements.
I'm deciding between the Note 2 and the THL 5000.
5½" and 3300mAh Vs 5" and 5000mAh
so at the end,
which smart phone did you buy ?
i already bought a Redmi Note
still enjoying it
Well... I have two units here just arrived...Almost everything work as it should, but I have problems making data connection working. Wi-fi works great, but data over mobile network doesn't want to work at all. I've checked out on both units using different SIM cards (from different providers). I have to mention that the SIM cards work using other phones. AND I have to say that didn't want to sign up yet for any of the xiaomi services (cloud and rest). It must be somewhere in MIUI a setting. MIUI is a customised version of Android.
For the price seems to be a good product.

there are 3 version of redmi note2 (which you probably have). One of them is made for China 3g networks and other is WSCDMA.
When battery is removed you can read which version you have (maybe it's not usable on your networks).
Bought redmi note recently and I can say that it feels faster that Samsung Note 2 (I have both phones).
xiaomi phones are not replacement but best phones
...in terms of hardware specs and value for money, looks is something personal. Why branded phones are very expensive are because of their marketing cost and the cost attached to the brand value. Other than that xiaomi phones are very good.
My cousin bought the Xiaomi Mi3 and i bought a Redmi 1S for my fiance and both the phones are awesome and have very good camera and sound quality.
I have been using Galaxy S3 since 2012, and let me tell you I have been using MIUI Rom even before on my Sony Xperia X10, so as I got my S3 i rooted it and installed MIUI rom.
Yes, all your apps and games will run without any problem as it is Android, every manufacturer have their own version of Launcher and apps to differentiate their phones. What made me fall in love with MIUI were its native apps and features (like call recording which is available only when rooting, but in Xiaomi phones this is built in), and themes (you can change everything to your liking with one click- the dialer, messaging, statusbar, wallpaper, bopot animation, lockscreen, font, etc. or change each individually, and their themes are awesome).
I would suggest you to go for Xiaomi Mi3 if it suits your budget. But if you already have Samsung Galaxy S3 and if its performing good enough, then no point buying a phone with similar hardware. I am waiting for Mi4 to launch in India. Its a kickass phone (google it).
keep 'em both
Got both phones. Still love my SGS3 for the customizations.
More Redmi Note ROMs here:
http://en.miui.com/thread-26132-1-1.html
flashed mine with the ported Color OS. performed better than the original MIUI OS. you could also try the AOSP ROM faux 4.4.2 (actually its just 4.2.2) seem nice. i just dont like the developer switched the main storage for the external and so on..

I can't decide which phone to buy. LeTvLe2 or Xiaomi Redmi Note 3

I'm planning to buy either the Redmi Note 3 or the Le2 and can't decide which is better.
I'll list the pro's and cons for each. I hop you guys can provide a sound argument for which is better. Both of these phones are priced the same at 11,999 INR. And both of them have very similar specs. Otherwise both of them have 5.5" 1080p displays, 16MP rear facing camera, all the same sensors.
LeEco Le2
1. Snapdragon 652 (4 a72 cores, 4 a53 cores)
2. USB type C port for CDLA audio (no 3.5mm headphone jack)
3. Thinner and Lighter than Redmi Note 3 (7.5mm and 154g)
4. Quick Charge 2.0
5. 3000 MaH battery.
6. No SD card support.
7. 8MP front facing camera
8. No custom ROM support (yet)
9. Fingerprint sensor detects at 0.150 secs
Redmi Note 3
1. Snapdragon 650 (2 a72 cores, 4 a53 cores)
2. 8.7mm thin and 164g
3. Quick Charge 1.0
4. 4000 MaH battery
5. SD card supported
6. 5MP front facing camera
7. Custom ROMs are avialable
8. Fingerprint sensor detects at 0.300 secs
So it seems to be a matter of wanting a thinner, lighter phone with updated specs in the case of Le2 Vs more battery and expandable storage but older specs.
I plan to flash custom roms soon, but I would like to know, if it's getting the latest specs that's better than having more usability(with extra battery life and storage capacity).
Please help. Any advice is welcome.
P.S I've owned a Moto E 1st gen, been on cm ever since it came out.
It all comes down to your opinion and preference, le2 doesn't have sd card support, usb type c headphone jack,it has good scope for custom ROMs as it has snapdragon processor but I came here to know if le2 has any active development but there is no seperate forum or thread for it yet it may be in the near future but redmi note 3 has a specific section already because it launched before le2
You can buy le2 if you feel 32 gb is enough and you will be content with it, if you are like me and will download large files like movies, songs of high definition play many games then you shold buy the redmi note 3 with 128 GB memory card support because 32gb just wouldn't be enough, I saw some place saying that redmi note 3 can even support up to 256 GB maybe don't remember where I saw it though
In performance le2 would have an upper edge but just a tad bit. But the camera lens of le2 looked ugly to me and i saw the comparison of both the phones cameras and the le2s camera was a BIG no-no for me because it captured day light pictures of flowers as if they were in low light, I was having the same doubt about which phone to buy so I researched a little bit for the camera review and found redmi note 3 to better just look it up in Google, bcoz I'm unable to post link here
Just hang around for a bit and see what goes on in xda regarding the development
The link to redmi note3 forum-
forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3
There is development for both snapdragon and mediatek look out for available ROMs for snapdragon . And something called le2 pro with better specs than le2 is releasing soon just look it up.
And lol I am using the moto e 1st gen too on stock android and i typed all this on my phone
Both of those will be hard to get any real development as developers don't buy either of those devices.
So don't use development as any real way to determine if you are gonna get the device.
I've decided to go for the Redmi Note 3. But it doesn't seem to be in stock for now (Flash sales). Figured the Le2 wouldn't give me enough screen on time, I travel a lot, and GPS and 4g would kill that 3000Mah battery in two to three hours flat. (Lol, especially with Pokemon Go coming out and all). And I'm using the Moto e 1st gen too, cm13 . Camera doesn't have to be great. Come on... coming from moto e, you should know that, that phone didn't even have auto focus, leave alone low light performance XD. So I'm just looking for the best price to performance ratio phone for my budget.
And I was looking from more of a hardware perspective to buy a phone, rather than development. Thanks for replying on this post. :good:
Choose the more experienced one
LeTv is actually a pretty new phone developer, they have just started the phone marketing recently. Their TV is actually really nice. But Xiaomi has been doing smart phone for a few years already. Recommend you to get Redmi, because it might do better in a time base.

I ordered it a couple of days back, only snapdeal could deliver to my address. Should be here before 18th. This would be the first time I would be trying anything other than stock android (other than HTC sense from cupcake xD)

Don't forget to video record when your opening the package incase of fraud you can have it as proof, and if taken as cash on delivery call the courier person in and make somebody give him a glass of water while you open the package and then give him the cash, you have to be careful shopping online from flipkart and amazon, and extra careful shopping on snapdeal. And I like stock Android my moto e is almost stock android, but miui is much better and with the 3 GB ram its going to be super smooth.BTW my phone is arriving on Wednesday, can't wait XD
I already paid with credit card. Thing is, the courier is India post. But fortunately the post office is nearby and I know the delivery guy. So hopefully there shouldn't be any problem.
And thanks foe the video recording suggestion. I'll do that just in case.
But another problem has come up. Apparently it's difficult to unlock the bootloader for xiaomi devices now.

Is Redmi Note 4 worth buying?

Hello i live in Greece and i was interested in purchasing a new phone.
In Greece the only model that is available is the Helio Deca core model and i will be going for the 3 GB Ram 64 Rom version.
I came across a deal and i am seriously considering to purchase the device but i have some questions first
1 ) is the phone rootable?
2) will custom roms such as cyanogen mod and such be available for the device ?
I cant explain what i need from a phone well enough but the case is that i need a smartphone that its software can be altered easily and there are many roms available for it without having to pay the premium for a flagship device.
I do not care about Camera quality only for the core hardware (cpu ram gpu and a good DAC)
Sorry for the confusing explanation if you have any questions i will be more than happy to explain what i mean.
Thank you in advance.

Its really going to be a toss up between this and the Redmi Note 3 Pro. I have the Note 4 and really like it, I can confirm it is fully rootable and you can install TWRP custom recovery also.
There are some custom roms available, although nowhere near as many as the Note 3/Pro. You will see an AOSP rom by cofface which was only released a couple of weeks ago but many have been using as a daily driver (see link below to rom dev thread). There is also a cyanogen rom which is an alpha but again is still a work in progress. You can also get custom/modified versions of the stock MIUI ROM, personally I find MIUI really good (smooth and lots of customisation options), although if you're a stock android enthusiast it might not be for you. And I've used just about all versions of android over the years, be it nexus/CM mod, AOSP/htc sense/touchwiz.
I'd say if your into modding and ROMs, then the Note 3 Pro would be a great option. The specs are pretty similar and the Note 3 seems to have better battery life, which could be the Snapdragon 650, which seems to be a great processor in terms of power and efficiency. As for audio, I'm loving the audio output via the 3.5mm jack, I actually find it better than the Galaxy S7 that I had, which sounded pretty cheap to be honest and was a disappointment for me (probably the only one on the S7) . I havent tried the Note 3 so cant really comment on it, but Im certain there are more than a few audio mods to play around with and if you check the Note 3 forum, you should get an idea of user opinions.
My reason for choosing the Note 4 over the Note 3 was the Note 4's build quality. The all metal body looks and feels really nice, but if thats not really a big deal for you, the Note 3 is supposed to be very solid also, as it does have a metal back (but plastic at the top and bottom for radio signal). It will also be better for glass screen protectors due to the flat panel of glass, where as the Note 4 has 2.5 curved edges which makes screen protectors a bit more hit and miss in terms of fit.

Thank you very much for your answer and it was amazing that you have the device and that you judged it fairly (in my opinion).
But i learned something that may change my mind ...
For 50 eur more i could get the Samsung Galaxy A5 . And still i do not know what should i do.
I told a friend and he told me that even if the Galaxy phone had even lower specs he would go with it just because its a more reliable brand . ( I dont think this is a very good argument but still using big brand phones like LG Samsung etc and paying more for them "pays back" in a way in support from developers and official support from the company)
Whats your opinion ?

I understand what he is saying, but in terms of support Xiaomi arent actually that bad. The Note 4 is currently on Android 6.0, but there are continual security updates, like most flagships these days. Its not known for certain whether it will officially get updated to 7.0, but they certainly seem to continue with updates whether they be small fixes and security patches.
I would generally recommend Samsung as well to any friends who want a decent reliable device, although I personally wouldnt choose it over the Note 4 as its got 16GB storage and 2GB RAM. I'm not all about having the biggest screen/fastest processor/most RAM, etc etc, but I've had 16GB phones (my previous one was 32GB) and I just like having the extra internal space, 16GB feels limited these days. And with 64GB the Note 4 just feels like you've no worries about running out, I had a Oneplus One previously as well and it also had 64GB. The bonus on the Note for is the sd card option as well, so you get the best of both worlds.

I want my device to be reliable but i also need it to be snappy and futureproof (my S3 has served me well for 4 years with custom roms ) i want a fast smartphone that will go a long way and the A5 lacks on internal storage and Ram ... so yeah i am seriously thinking the possibility of buying Redmi note 4 but i still have my doubts about it .. i am just not sure if it is worth the investment.

If you want longevity and futureproof with custom roms, I would definitely take a look at the Note 3, just look at the ROM development thread at the link below. It reminds me of the Oneplus One or Nexus 5 forums, where you could not only get official cyanogen roms, but all the other great custom roms, so you're really spoilt for choice. Its really only the other phone I considered apart from the Note 4 and again i was just really impressed with the Note 4's build quality.

Sorry not meaning to hijack the thread, just a quick question abotu which OS to choose @gsmyth you seem to be the right person to ask... I have my Redmi Note 4 on order and I think MIUI 8 will work well for me. It seems lik there is still some issues with cofface's AOSP. I will probably debloat it and use Nova Launcher. Of all the different options with MIUI 8, which one would you recommend to use?

Yes the CM/AOSP roms are still early in development, but worth keeping an eye on. I'm really enjoying MIUI to be honest and nova launcher is excellent too. You should be grand with the global rom or the EU rom which is basically the Chinese rom but with all the Chinese content removed. I'd recommend unlocking the bootloader when you get it and installing TWRP, it's great to be able to make full backups if you're trying out roms.

latest ROM for Nikel (our device codename) from XIAOMI.EU should be fine
custom roms for this phone require Unlocked BL and root
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/6-12-15.36782/
Official Global Beta rom is also another option that but DOES NOT require unlocked BL and Root
http://en.miui.com/thread-440133-1-1.html
This phone is worth every penny, specially the 64 gb and 3 gb version. I'm still on the latest EU MIUI 8.2, and it's actually a pretty great rom, but I do prefer CM... For now I'll keep Miui.
Hi there, just want to pitch you my 2 cents regarding the Redmi Note 4.
I have been looking for a smarthphone for a while and i end up getting a Redmi Note 4 a month ago. Really happy with it and imo my best purchase of the year 2016 :fingers-crossed:
The Redmi Note 4 build quality looks and feel absolutely superb as i'm used to seeing plastic phones in this price category. Most of my friends seeing my Redmi Note 4 for the first time thought it was something more expensive than it actually was.
On the performance side: it's great, but not as great as equal Snapdragon based product with Adreno GPU. But it's definitely and absolutely no sloth! The weakest link imo is the Mali GPU, but still good enough to have a great gaming experience with it (half of my internal storage is currently occupied by huge amount of Android games). But not strong enough for smooth VR experience.
Also, consider the Redmi Note 4 only got released in August, give it some time for developers to make their ROMs compatible with the Redmi Note 4. Even Xiaomi themselves seems to be more focussed on Redmi Note 3 support than Note 4 atm.

I woulnd't recommend anyone to pay 50 euro MORE for a 'lesser' product (about it's core functionality and hardware):
- Galaxy A5 has lower resolution screen: 720 vs 1080p
- Slower performance, Antutu 20k on the A5 vs 85k on Redmi Note 4
- Less RAM and less storage space (assuming you going for the 3GB model, other wise it would be the same)
- No fingerprint sensor for security and unlocking the phone, and the Redmi Note 4 fingerprint sensor is very quick!
- No 4G(LTE) support on the Galaxy A5
- No USB On-The-Go (OTG) support on the Galaxy A5, which is very handy for anyone with lots of USB devices
If anything, they should be paying you 50 euro to stay loyal to their brand....
I always gets giddy when i read people base their purchase on the argument: "They are a reliable brand". That always makes me wonder what exactly makes a brand "reliable"? Reliable on trying to make you upgrade the product every year? Honestly, those are the hallmark of a fanboi
There are a few reasons however i can think of someone going for the Galaxy A5 anyway:
- Form factor: the Redmi Note 4 is considerably bigger
- Accessories: Having a hard time finding a cover for it locally: not much luck so far. Not surprising however as Xiaomi is not even active in Europe makes it pretty much fail quest to begin with. Online is the only way i guess, same as selling them online (where i got it from) is what Xiaomi business is about; to keep them cheap.
- Repairs or guarantees. No European office means this is going to be a problem if your phone is broken.

I bought Redmi Note 4 3GB RAM and 64 GB ROM model. I am thoroughly enjoying it.

Seriously now, how can Samsung be considered "reliable" after their latest explosive device?
Wow guys thank you so much for the answers.
I would first like to thank the bro who hijacked the thread because i got informed about the roms too i know that the phone is quite more powerful than the A5 and i would like to add something .
How does it do next to Redmi Pro
i now what i am asking is terrible but
Could please do a quick comparison of the two ?
Why go RedMi Note 4 instead of Redmi Pro and vice versa
Redmi Pro Version Decacore 64GB 3GB Ram
Redmi Note 4 Decacore 64GB 3GB Ram

What do you mean by external USB camera?
Does anyone else have the Samsung Neon flip cover?
I can only get it to glow for the stock sms app and calls.
No glow notifications for Whatsapp or Viber, or is there a hidden setting I haven't found?
Thanks

The 2017 are so new, I went with the Galaxy A5 2017 instead of jumping on the A7, I was afraid the A7 would be just too big for me.
I have a Sony Xperia Z3+ and like it for the most part but it doesnt have fast charging and the battery is not all day, Many reviews say that the battery will last all day on the A5 2017, since I get it tonight I will set it up and test tomorrow and see.
I know its a step down from an s7 but its only a short step from what I see on the reviews.
At half the price new ( 329 here in USA) it seems like a bargain

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 mini. How would an A3 2017 be in comparison? Would it be a justifiable upgrade? I got marshmallow on my S5 mini now and it works so much better but I think I might like to save for a new phone and I need something in a similar size and form-factor. The best I could find was the A3 2017 but I am unsure, can someone walk me through how much of an upgrade it might be and what the benefits would be?

The A3 2017 is way better, first you will get a bigger screen ( 4.7") compared to the 4.5" found on the S5 mini, you get a 13mp camera vs 8mp on your current device, 0.5GB more RAM and way better Soc ( Exynos 7870 octa ), also the A3 2017 have a bigger battery (2350mah) compared to the smaller 2100mah found on the S5 mini.
Software wise you have the latest grace ux on the A3, which is lighter, faster and more beautiful, with AOD support like on the S7 edge.
You get IP68 certification, dust and water proof resistance, a fingerprint scanner and a way better design, so premium.
So yes it's worth, the A3 7 blows the S5 mini of water.
Thanks! Do we know what the update/OS upgrade cycle will be on the A3 2017? Like, will I get new OS for 2 years, 3 years etc? If I go for a new phone like this A3 2017 (almost certainly going to be the one as I love Samsung and need sub 5") I would want it to last me for as long as possible.
