[Q] CM 11 install help - HTC Droid DNA

Hi all,
I can install cm 10.2 and all is well, but when I try to install cm 11 it fails every time.
I'm trying to install from recovery or the cm update OTA update feature.
The error reads set__metadata_recursive; some changes failed.
e: error in sdcard/0/cmupdater/cm-11-20140308-snapshot-m4-dlx.zip
Thanks!

Which recovery are you using? For 4.4 you need the latest cwm, Twrp, or phillz recovery to work. Any older versions will not flash 4.4 roms as the recovery cannot do selinux

I tried just wiping and and trying to install the new pacmon rom but kept getting an error. I haven't flashed a rom in a long time but I know there must be sometime failing to see. Any suggestions? Yes you need to update your recovery. I recommend TWRP recovery. It's very easy to use and most developers recommend it too.
Here's where you get it.

Once you install twrp make a backup. Pick your rom, flash it, then enjoy!
Kernels are for overclocking/under volting. Kernels are rom specific so research before installing one. Try the new rom you pick for a day or two to see if you even want a different one.

help with basic rooting and flashing roms

hello all
i have a gs2 i9100
i rooted it folowing this guide short way (update from recovery)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1994544
it installs cwm recovery 4.0.1.5 and supersu.
i tried installing a cm10.1 nightly version for my model,it allways abort with staus 7.
i tried different nightly version,no success.
then i folowed the official cm guide:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_i9100
i flashed the zimage for cwm recovery via heimdall on linux,it went well then i booted into recovery to check and success.
i didnt want to flash cm at that point (middle of the day) so i rebooted the device and problem:
i could see the samssung boot logo with the yello triangle and then the screen goes black and..nothing.
for now i restored via recovery a backup i made on the older 4.0.1.5 recovery.
i also tried looking for a kernel that matches mine - jhls4 and couldnt find one nor a solution that solved the stsus 7 error.
what could be the problem?
That thread is so old now. More phone details. Firmware you have installed or had installed before you flashed cm? Model of i9100?
Phone model is gt-i9100
Im on stock tw jb 4.1.2
Never installed any other firmware just updated the official with kies.
I rooted it from the stock recovery-installed super user and recovery as update.
The rest is in my first post.
Appriciate your help.

Flash it with philz kernel for root and custom kernel cwm recovery that will let you do anything. Philz is the easy way to root and install cwm to your i9100.
When that's install do the wipes and reboot.
Thanx for your reply
Q: any phils kernel or one that matches mine- jhls2?
2nd Q: can i flash the kenel via recovery ? Or just heimdall?
And if i flash a kernel do i have to flash a rom immedietly or can i still use the stock rom?
Total noob at this.

Flash lss or lsw philz as its just the cwm that's updated in dif versions and yes this will work on your stock 4.1.2 no point in telling you to flash something that won't work on the ROM you have now then if you want to flash custom ROM you can do this from there. Either way is possible with philz . tar for Odin/hem and singed zip for stock recovery:thumbup: reading is the key to flashing well.
Thanx again
I read a lot and got a little confused.
Will do what u suggested.
Hope ill get it right this time.
Cheers.

Problem Flashing 4.4 KitKat Rom

Does anyone encounter failure while trying to flash 4.4 roms?
I tried to upgrade form 4.2.2 GPE..... That didn't work
I tried to first update to 4.3 and go to 4.4... that didn't work either.
Is there a fix for 4.4 failure while flashing?
Thanks
What recovery r u using.

Gotta use and updated recovery that supports 4.4 ROMs. I had the same issue didn't realize I needed to be on an updated recovery. If using cwm recovery you need to be on at least a 6.0.4.x and above to flash 4.4 roms

Flash latest recovery...2.6.3.x twrp
Cwm 6.0.4.4 or above
Philz 6.0.0.8 or above..
You can find zip or tar files in android development and original android development threads... Just flash those in yours present recovery and then flash through your new recovery...

[Q] Problems installing kitkat i9100i

I was using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1290468 rom.
Now while trying to install
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2580489
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436854
Both give status 7 error while in cwm recovery
older roms such as rootbox v3.7.1 and jellybam v6.0.0 are installing fine.
Are the above stated roms not suitable for sgs2 i9100i
Probably you should first read the instructions before starting to flash ...
You need CWM recovery > 6.0.4.x otherwise it will not flash.
