Is getting a new android version on my lg g pro lite dual the only solution to ....? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have a LG G PRO LITE DUAL ( lg g pro lite D686 ) that doesn't have FRENCH as one of the system language ( when you go to settings....>language & input .....> .... there is no option for french, and as a result, i CANNOT change the phone system language to french. i've tried all sort of apps ( locale text, morelocale2, text and locale, etc etc etc ) the only thing that happened was that part of the phone was changed to french, but not the system language. the majority of it is still in english.
I was told that the ONLY way i would be able to add/install/get french as a language on the phone is to either
1- CHANGE THE OPERATING SYSYTEM. the one on my phone is android 4.1.2. i was told that some operating systems like 4.2.2, or 4.4, and even 4.0.2, which i currently have on my htc phone come with french as part of the system language.
or
2- install some kind of custom ROM.
I would really appreciate it if someone out there could help me with either one of those options since I have no clue how to go about accomplishIng any of these things, or if there is another way i can get french on my phone, please let me know as well.
I would even consider making a small donation, if you have paypal to thank you for your time.
some basic info about the phone:
its brand new, unlocked and unused, so i dont have to worry about backing up any data whatsoever.. i plan on shipping it to a french speaking country, which is why i absolutely MUST change it to french.
its an LG G PRO LITE DUAL phone
android version 4.1.2
and its already been rooted.
please help.

i don't know much about any of that stuff. i dont know what a custom ROM is, or how to get one, or how to install it. i mean, i did a bit of research so i can navigate through installation and stuff.
can you tell me a bit more about that Mediatek 6577 thing? will that solve my dilemna?
thanks bud!

Mediatek=No source code
No source code=no custom roms like cyanogenmod
The only method to get custom roms and recovery is via porting
Root and get ctr recovery based on cwm (search crt recovery porting tool)
Then find a MTK6577 device with same resolution and near same specs and port it
You can use the porting guide from @rishab...(forgot user name)
If you want to port then I can help

Xiaomi Red Note

Hi,
sorry i post here but this is as close as it gets to my phone.
i just got my Xiaomi Red Note 1W, Miui-jhdcnba17.0, 4.2.2 jdq39.
It came preflashed with multi language support and play store app.
Now I want to install something different, preferable clean android.
How do I do that?
If that is not possible, how to I install a Miui Version with German language?
thanks

no "clean" Android (i suppose you mean AOSP) available, since Mediatek device with no open kernel...
wont happen unless someone does an unofficial port with original MIUI kernel (read Patchrom)
for german language support check miui.de and their forum -> they offer modded ROMs with german language support (but i don't know if they have for Redmi Note)
another solution would be to root and install morelocale, that is not 100% but better than nothing if you need German and can't live with English.
there are plenty roms available even aosp on miui forum, just hoping someone here on xda do porting CM for this device

Camera is not working because you are using ROM designed for some other device. I dont know what type of ROM you flashed, but you can find out about porting Cynagenmod ROM to your device at Cynagenmod's website :
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Doc:_porting_intro
BTW Jumping from one Android version to another just by flashing the ROM is risky business. If the preloader gets overwritten with mismatched type, you can hard-brick the phone.

I will produce a guide after full tests
What I don't understand is the reason why an Oppo R5 is there even if there is no development so far...
Too all those wishing to change their Chinese R5 to the international R8106 rom
Hi this is exactly what happened to me. I did manage however to completely reflash the phone as an international r8106 instead of being the Chinese variant thus removing all Chinese applications and characters on the phone which was more oriented to the Chinese market.
Here's how to do it:
1. Root your phone you using forceroot
(www3.zippyshare.com/v/ylWtMVbd/file.html)
2. Install the Rashr application from the market (https://play.google.com/store/apps/...r+apk&pcampaignid=APPU_1__Vw_VrCYDoPteZ-2grgE)
3. Download the r8106 stock recovery
(community.oppo.com/en/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=41920&extra=)
4. Flash the recovery with rashr
5. Download Color OS v.2.0.1i
(community.oppo.com/en/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=41914)
6. Reboot your phone into stock recovery (now r8106 recovery)
7. Wipe data and catch
8. Install zip (navigate to where your downloaded ROM is)
9. Flash the ROM
10. Reboot
11. Once rebooted you may get a notification saying "NV BACKUP FAILED" if this happens, simply dial *#268# on your phone's keypad and calibrate your nv parameters.
12. Enjoy :good:
* This is optional but you can also now re-root your phone using forceroot as previously mentioned and install twrp (https://dl.twrp.me/r5/) which will allow you to make a backup.
** Finally, this goes without saying but i'll say it anyways, this is completly at your own risk! I'm not responsible for any damages you do to your phone or if these instructions don't work for you. So its expected that you fully understand the complexities of flashing prior to doing this. Otherwise you may run a real risk of bricking your phone and making it completly useless.
Good luck and I hope this post helped someone.
I did everything you said. I managed. all is well, but stopped working GPS. may you know how to fix it?

MPIE M15 MTK6595 need advice

Hello,
i recently bought a smartphone from Ali.
It's a MPIE M15 with MTK6595 (CPU-z is agree). Here's the specs :
Android Version : 5.0.0
Baseband : MOLY.WR8.W1315.MD.WG.MP.V43, 2014/09/17 10:10
Kernel : 3.4.67 [email protected] #1
Build Number : A100-HYDY 20150627-155331
Custom Build Version : 1435391497
Hardware : mt6595
After test, it's already rooted, i can access to Android Recovery.
The problem is that the installed rom is a Chinese Android version.
i want to install the factory Android Lollipop, but i cant find any version for my phone.
CyanogenMod installation via recovery have a OTA error..
So with my specs, is that possible to run another rom, like the Official Android (5.1?) and how to do it?
Thanks for your answer
Update
I understand that i have to install a custom recovery, but now i have a new problem..
MTK Droid Tools says the hardware is fake in Kernel or Firmware rolleyes not corresponding to the phone..
How to format all the phone, i want the Android Official Firmware on it, how to do that please ?..
OK MTK Droid Tools recognize my phone now. I do the backup for a custom TWRP recovery. if anyone know a link the original image of android .zip, thank you to tell me..
i continue :cyclops:

Please write if you find the program Im interested in purchasing that phone, but don't want to learn chinese
By the way, how that phone looks like in real life? All options works normally?
Hello, after two days working on the phone, i'm almost there.
First, this phone is faking his own components.
It's sold for a MTK6595, in fact it's a MTK6572. Same for Android, it's KitKat, not Lollipop. Not sure about the RAM (maybe 2Go). 1 virus app (AVG). Chinese stuff installed. I bought it 85$ from Ali (i understand now^^). The Camera is sh**, really! (but photo is not a prob for me).
Im not an experimented dev, the phone seems to be block somewhere, it's very hard to launch a custom recovery. I extracted the Stock ROM with MTK Droid Tools.
Finally, I install a custom recovery after a day of search, the Carvil Touchscreen and make it stable for the mPie. Now i want to install a Custom Rom on it, after replace the boot.img from Stock to Port, i have to modify the kernel, i will see..
If i managed a custom rom to get worked, i will post a tuto, if someones are interested
i continue :cyclops:

If anybody got scammed with the Mpie M15, i backup my device 10 times, i have a stock rom for
How to install a genuine kernel to a MT6572 (MT6595 is fake) ?
Thanks
Hello. I also bought the phone. now we have to change the firmware. if you have the opportunity to specify where to get the firmware for this phone?

Root access on "unbranded" device

Hello there.
I've got a new tablet that's not "on the market" right know. It has two models, an old one with Android 7, and a new one with Android 9. Both come from China (obviously) and the OS is made on Portugal I think.
I have all the specs and also the stock rom for both of them. I can also get in the recovery mode and that stuff. I'd like to know if I can, somehow, have root access to these, using the stock rom or something. Of course I've tried the automatic rom stuff like Kingo and similar.
I can share specs and CPU-Z info if it's needed.
Edit: I don't know if this helps, but I'd only need to have root access from a certain app. Perhaps I can set it as system app editing the ROM?
Thanks! And sorry for my robotlike english level.
