possible? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi
as security for the lockscreen i have set a pin. with a pin you cannot set these quick accessible icons on the lockscreen that is in my case on jelly bean.
phone is rooted and running the Android Revolution HD 51.0 rom.
is it possible without an additional launcher to get around this issue. maybe with a xposed module? been looking forever. it would be handy to access apps asap like trapster or cam for example.

KingCobra3D-ICS 1.5 - Lock screen call issue

Hi
I have recently installed KingCobra3d-ICS 1.5 and it is running brilliantly but i have one minor issue, when my screen is locked and somebody calls I have no option to answer it from the lock screen therefore having to pattern unlock it then answer the call, this is not a major issue but has caused me to miss a few calls due to it. My question is if there is a fix as it seemed to be a know bug in the earlier versions but was fixed in update 1.2, or will i have to reinstall the ROM from scratch to get it working?
I presume you have installed AOSP version od KingCobra3D. I have a solution, maybe not the best one. I installed the ROM with AOSP components but without the AOSP lockscreen. Sense lockscreen works fine on incoming calls.
Sorry I forgot to mention that, yes i have the AOSP lockscreen as it is more aesthetically pleasing than the sense lockscreen which is the main reason I am reluctant to switch back to the sense lockscreen. I will switch to slide unlock rather than pattern which will help the issue but I will continue looking for a resolution. Thanks for your reply.
I have found a workaround by using Llama to unlock the screen when a call is incoming.
Jaydrury1992, since you've been testing this ROM - did you experience any other glitches? How about camera, 3D and bluetooth as well as USB-connection? Thinking about switching from Virtuous Shooter to another ICS ROM where everything works flawlessly to be able to use the awesome PDroid Privacy Protection.
Got another fully working ICS-ROM in mind? Recommendations are VERY welcome!
Too bad CyanogenMod 9 doesn't provide working 3D effects and camera yet...
SecUpwN
no problem on my side only use sense theme, fantastic rom

[Q] Problem with Android stock lockscreen

I have two phones: HTC Wildfire S (Stock ROM 2.3.5) and HTC Desire C (Nameless ROM 4.0.3)
Both of them have HTC Sense at the moment.
I removed HtcLockscreen.apk and now I have default Android lockscreeen.
The problem is that the lockscreen appears when I get incoming calls and it is very frustrating.
I don't have configuration menu for that lockscreen.
I don't want any installable locker applications, I want default Android lockscreen.
Any help will be well appreciated.
This is a known issue with sense roms. The dialer apk calls the lock. Only way around it is to use an AOSP based rom

Install a custom rom or use go locker which is best lockscreen app

Thank you for the answers.
I'm using Holo Locker at the moment and it's good.

[Q] dashclock to 4.1

Hi.just bought sgs III 4g.
Just rooted and installed sammy based custom rom 4.1 something and noticed that i cant install dashclock.
I had it in my sgs II 4.2.2.
So is it possible to someone port it to 4.1?
probably not, since 4.1 is outdated
maybe yes.but there is just too many issues in 4.2.2.
like what?
Lock screen widgets were introduced in 4.2 onwards....so i dont think its possible to get dashclock on any phone running version 4.2>.
Hope this helped.
DashClock is a replacement lock screen clock widget for Android 4.2+. It also exposes additional status items called extensions.
Like Google Play says, it is for Android 4.2+

yes i know.i have it in my sgs II..
so what issues does 4.2 have?
Dashclock 4.1
What if I don't want it on my lock screen but I just want it on my homescreen? can it be ported?
I'm looking for a 4.1 version as well for use as a homescreen widget. I get that the lock screen (why anyone would want this?) portion isn't available on 4.1 but why not the home screen widget? I love dashclock on my Nexus 10 and really want it on my S3.
it's an old thread, but just as a workaround, install this: better dashclock widget it works for android 4.0 and later

Skinning Stock Android 5.x ROM to look like Android 4.3?

Hello,
I've been holding off upgrading to Android 5 or newer and have been sticking to Android 4.3 because I plainly do not like how the icons and graphics for Android 4.4 and up looks like. Would it be possible to make Android 5.x look exactly like Android 4.3? Perhaps with a skin?
For example, the shape of the Back, Home and Switch Window icons at the bottom of the screen, the position of the Quick Settings in the Notification Panel, the shape and icon design of the Wi-Fi and Cellular signal strength and so on.
I have my Sony Stock Android 4.3 Rooted, which allows me to apply security fixes (ie. disabling Stagefright in build.prop) and installing permissions managers but I think as Android 4.3 ages more and more exploits would be possible against it. So I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade to Android 5x and then skin it to look and feel like 4.3.
Thank you!

That's a very weird thing to do, but alright.
First of all, any reason why you're not on 4.4.4? That's the last KitKat version. Heck, 4.3 isn't even KitKat! It's Jelly Bean, so you're two versions behind. KitKat looks the same as Jelly Bean and runs much better than Jelly Bean.
Second, you can change the navigation buttons (the three buttons at the bottom) by either using an Xposed module or by installing an app (just google "change android navbar icons".
Third, you can also flash CM12.1 and use a theme. You won't find a theme that looks like the old Sony UI, because why would anyone make that, but you can theme it to look like anything else than stock Lollipop.
Fourth, you can stay on 4.4.4 and have a rather big issue at hand once you have to buy a new device It's not like Google will revert the design, so the best thing to do is to start liking it, or move to a different OS.
Cheers

Thanks for the reply. I've been trying some builds here and there, such as Cyanogenmod and Blisspop, I just have to use 5.x for a few days I guess.
What ROMs would you recommend that doesn't have broken features? Right now I'm using Sony Stock 5.1.1 and rooted it using the Kingroot app and replaced that with SuperSU.

The most stable ones are of course the official ones, so the one you're already running and the GPe port are the most stable ones. Also, I guess you can simply use a theme on the ROM you're running right now. Take a look here if you haven't already.
Bro just use lp with nova launcher

Is there a way to use stock android settings app in other ROMs? (LG, Samsung, etc)

Hey guys,
I'm using an LG stock based ROM on my LG G5 due to issues with AOSP based ROMs for this phone. I've managed to get a more or less completely stock AOSP appearance including the quick settings tiles and notifications. However, the last thing i'd love to be able to do is to install an AOSP style settings app. It doesn't need to necessarily replace the default settings app but it'd be cool if I could install something like this side by side..
I've googled this and can't find anything really but I figured i'd be better to ask the experts here

Settings app is tied very closely with the system framework, so it's pretty much impossible to replace it with anything that isn't relevant to the current ROM.
