REQUEST FOR HELP, i can't boot my device after replacing a system file?! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi every body , first of all i want to thank you for your efforts and great work
now i'm in trouble cause i did something stupid , i was trying to change the background for my x'pop 5035D cause i'm in jelly bean 4.1.1 and all the backgrounds for the system is white and it's very bad for my eyes specially at night ,
i was trying to modify framework-res.apk that exist in :system / framework but i couldn't so i thought i can replace it and i downloaded another framework-res.apk and i used root explorer to replace it after taking a copy of the original file and since i did that the device restarted and stuck at the logo and i can't boot.
i tried every thing , i did nandroid restore and even wipe data / factory reset and the same result it just stops at the logo every time .
i don't know what to do , and i'm desperate for your help

now i managed to flash the recovery image from the first page of this topic and it worked , and the good thing is it's an ics 4.0.4 and i like it its dark and rooted and i don't want to go back to jelly bean .
but i need to do something else , i used to have titanium backup pro in my last jelly bean and i have backups of my apps and data , the question is how to use titanium backup pro to restore MY MISSING APPSand also THE NEWER VERSIONS of the apps that exist in my new rom + THE APPS DATA ,
it's my first time to make a restore and i'm lost don;t know how to pick the right options to do that ,
THANKS IN ADVANCE

I have to do a double restore to return to Stock!

Hi, I am currently using a YP-G70 INLT device, I tried out a bunch of ROM, like AOKP and CM9 and MIUI and stuffs, but when I need the fully working device with camera, bluetooth, etc I returned to Stock Gingerbread 2.3.6 firmware!
Problem is, after the first restore and a very very long boot, it always show up the device set up and no root, the apps are still there, but I have to set up Google Play again, set my name and my Google Accounts. And there are NO ROOT!, I can't use Titanium Backup, Root Explorer,...
I turned off my device and restore it again, it works completely, it's always like that, needs twice restore for rooted, working device!
It wastes a lot of time, so any idea to fix this some how!?
I had this problem with my US, too. I think it's caused by trying to wipe it and then restore. I found that if the only thing you do in CWM is restore, it works the first time.

This is not exactly a problem but it is how the Android system is designed. The first restore only restores most of the important system files and a few other bits. The rest of the data is restored on the second restore. The only way to fix this is to completely redesign the android system and make your own mobile OS so the best thing is just to remember to restore twice

Disscution about system folders, and strange miui apparition

Hey guys,
I have noticed a weird thing: i was on Ivan's AOSP ,and CarbonROM with TDB, and i wanted to restore a backup, of AOSP. Long story short, i disabled TDB, wiped everything, restored the AOSP backup, and restarted the phone and it showed the MiUi logo, and an update (like apple update) bar, and it booted into Miui v6. The miuiv6 was chinise without the gapps. I didnt had backup of Miui, nor zip of miui v6 on the phone.
Also the CWM "bug" with TDB, 2 folders of backup, Internal files messed up, when going into install zip i have the /sdcard/ "folder" and have : 0/ ;clockworkmod/ ; legacy/ and obb/ . How do i clean up all the folders inside and not mess up the phone? I've been thinking about the fastboot option, but i dont want MIUI v6 again .
Thank you for reading!
Cristi
P.S: If this thread should go into Q&A, then i am sorry for putting it in Discussion.
yes cwm is very buggy...even after formatting i am getting my data partition back
it is buggy indeed, whichever you choose to install. the first dev to make a bug-free, dual boot capable cwm gets my donation.

Create Flashable Rom from running system?

Hello,
It would be great if someone could help me out.
I have spent the whole day trying to find out if it is possible to create a flashable rom from an already running and setup android device.
I have found many tutorials on how to create roms from scratch, but can't seem to find a way to do it from an already running android device.
I already have an android device setup with all the apps, settings and files I want in the rom. I wondered if there was a way to use my Windows system to create a flashable rom from this device which I can then use to setup/flash new devices.
I hope that makes sense.
Thanks for your time.
Hi there, i am curious as well if this is possible.
I have to set up about 1600 Samsung S5 mini phone's for a customer. Almost al the setting, apps en stuf are identical so i would also like to create a flashable rom / image from one phone so we can install it to the other 1599 phones
Thanx in advance.

Hi,
From what I have read online if you are wanting to do this for a phone you can do a nandroid backup. I have just found a number of guides on how to do this with phones. If you search this forum for nandroid backup you will find them. Hope that helps you steefzz.
I am actually trying to clone TV box with all apks installed and configured. I can see how I can package apks into a rom, but they won't have all addons and settings saved. This is why I was hoping for a way to clone the entire device to restore onto future devices.
Ideally i don't even want to have to power up the devices, I would like to plug them into my PC apply the cloned rom and that's it.
If anyone has an idea of how to do that without having to pre-install any recovery or software onto the devices, or even power them up before hand ( they are already rooted) that would be great.
Thanks again.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
With a nandroid backup it wil indeed kind of work out how i want, however when i want to restore a backup to the phone, the backup has to be in \TWRP\BACKUPS\<PhonIdNr>
The Phone Id number is unique and before i can restore a backup, i first have to make a small backup to create these folders.
Also i am expected to write a manual so that other collegaes can also do this procedure. For me it's no problem (i'm using custom roms for about 5 years now with different brands) however most of my collegeas are not known with these methods to restore a nandroid.
So i was experimenting with the creation of a own made custom rom . For now it partially worked. I managed to make a flashable zipfile. However it only work is i dont install the /data folder. If i only install the /system folder it works fine, only i have to maken al bunch of manual setting. When i also install the /data folder the phone is stuck at boot logo, when i then full wipe i, it will boot again.
So i actually would like to maken a flashable zip or an Odin flashable tar that also contains (some) /data.
Is this even possible?

Create a Full Flashable Zip of my Phone

Hello Guys,
Of course i do TWRP Updates sometimes and i regnoize that this kind of update don´t inclued the data partition (makes sense cause that backup would be very big )
But i really like the idea that, when i soft brick my phone, or just want to go back to another rom, i dont need to re configurate my hole system (things like Fotos, launcher settings or whatsapp chats).
So i think about the idea to create a full flashable zip with all my data.
Like a 1:1 copy of my mobile with all settings and stuff like that.
Is that possible or just my Newbie Thinking?
Thanks for help!

Custom ROM from current ROM

Hi
I am new to the Android operating system and therefore my question may be a stupid one.
I wanted to know if it's possible to create a custom ROM from an existing ROM, for example I rooted my phone and uninstalled a few system apps, now I wanna make it into a ROM so then i can flash it to the phone and even when someone will factory reset the phone it will still be without the system apps I uninstalled cause the ROM does not have these apps.
Thanks
