I'm really interested in the gear 2 myself. But I appreciate any and every bit of information you can provide about all the devices! Your video was nicely done I must say.

Hi,
Thank you for sharing. Could you please check whether fit works with non-galaxy android phones?
p.s. Yes, I know about official support, but I am talking about not official. Thanks!

I tried to connect it to a Note 2 and I didn't succeed
I can not find the special application - Gear Manager - in samsung apps
probably we should wait for an update, there's still time until April 11

I can't connect them (Gear fit and Galaxy Note 2)
I've send the apk's to a colleague that has S4 - I will keep you posted

I'm guessing there's no hope it connecting to an S2 then. Sorry on a packed train with no headphones so can't watch the video yet but my Mrs wants a fitness watch and I was going to surprise her with a gear fit.

Love the review, few questions.
Do you think the fit vs wrist size may make a difference?
It looks like it is shaped, and if you have a large wrist it may look off?
The watch strap really concerns me it looks very cheap, do you think it will hold up a last say 2 years?
I know other straps and replacement straps maybe be available but I think the availability will depend on where you are.

Ebay or purchase online if all else fails. I understand what you are getting at though. No doubt if these things take off then you will find them in your standard phone case shop custom designed knock offs. Quality would be an issue though

The strap seems very resistant. It is plastic but I think It will resist at least two years.
Of course wrist size matter, I can not wear gear 1 - it's too big for my wrist
It is a device suitable for girls

Is there anyway to have the gear fit screen on at all times ?

No!
But... you can set it to turn on the screen when you raise your hand to look at the watch - so you don't need to press the power button.

thank you for the video. how does it do at handling notifications? texts, emails, facebook stuff? could you post a video of that?

Best stuff about the note 3 is the software upgrade. Cpu and ram wise, its an upgrade but ill never need it. My phone is plenty quick. Ill hold out for a 4.3 rom

The 4.3 update is coming for S3 and 4 in October, no word on Note 2.
He mentioned an update due for Note 2 in October, but didn't mention if it was 4.3 or not.
Any idea when they'll release pricing information? I am really interested in Gear.

If you are talking about the Gear I definitely agree. I was telling myself if it was under $100 I would definitely get it but this is just ridiculous. I don't understand why anyone would pay that much just so you don't have to check your phone. I mean it takes what 5 seconds, if that?

I bought a note 2 for it's massive screen, why would I want bypass that big beautiful screen with the tiny screen of the gear? I don't see a practical need for the gear at all.

It wouldn't be bad to be able to see a quick text or email without pulling my phone out. Also the camera would be great for creeper pics Anyone that pays $300 for that thing though is insane.
Galaxy Gear I love it! Expensive for sure, but then Samsung stuff always is when it first comes out - I'd say it'll be down to $200 in just a few months.
What I'm excited about is:
1) Microphone and speaker, so I can talk without holding a huge phone against my face!
2) Health sensors, so I can do my daily workout much more conveniently!
3) Camera, so I can merrily take pictures at the drop of a hat!
Pretty sweet I reckon - now I wonder what watch Apple have got up their sleeves lol

I can't find any confirmation that the gear will ever work with the note 2. All reports are note 3, note 10.1 and S4 after update.

the health sensors are what make me think this won't work on the note 2. Only the S4 and the note 3 have those built into the phone.
Personally, I'm more interested in the Qualcomm mirasol display watch. I don't like that the Samsung gear is going to be so locked into Samsung. But I don't think the qualcomm one is going to be widely available. Its more of a dev tester device.

Gear watch

Anyone getting the gear watch? Picked mine up tonight and have found a few things that don't play the best with the s4 but really enjoy it so far.
Well the S4 needs 4.3 to really support the device.

Yeah most of the features are working pretty solid. I wonder if I was on a 4.3 if it would be any better. They are "supposed" to update it for the s4 this month I've heard. The Samsung rep was in my store the other day and she didn't know much about it hooking up to the other galaxy devices

NFC Tags + Note 3

Stopped over at bestbuy today and came across the OEM samsung NFC tags (5pk for $14.99). Samsung rep said they weren't compatible with the note 3 due to our phones utilizing newer/updated NFC technology.
I didn't buy it. Anyone using these or any other generic brand tags?

Just got my tags in the mail today from tagstand.com. I downloaded the app "trigger" (NFC tag programming app) and purchased the tags directly from the app. NFC tags work prefect even with my Spigen case on.

From what I understand.
The older Samsung tags (TecTiles) used Mifare classic, that worked fine with NPX NFC chips that supported it (they developed Mifare). Note 3, like the new Nexus 7 (2013), doesn't use NXP hardware and thus dose not support Mifare. Mifare not in the official NFC standard.
So the rep is probably correct.. I believe the S4 falls into this catigory also. THe Samsung TecTiles2 should work though.
I would buy them from Samsung's site and the 50% off code to get them much less. You can do a Google search for "Samsung 50% off code", and you should find one. Or buy some from eBay. Just make sure they are not MIfare.
Here is more info:
http://www.andytags.com/nfc-tags-compatibility-issues.html#.UnCOgxDHj98
Hope this helps.
gah...I still have a pack of unused Tectiles 1 from Samsung's gift package, I thought they would work with the N3
Original Tectiles work on the Note 3! I have one in my car to activate bluetooth. and one in my wallet to turn off sounds. Kind of a bummer that they don't work with the S4 but it works fine on my Note 3 :good:

By the way, which app are you using to fire them up?
For those of you who use the tags in your car, how/where are you mounting them? I have a number of ideas but am curious to know which works best.

Looks good. I'd like mine to be a little more discreet though. When you say you're tapping to activate, does the phone require physical contact with the tag or can you hover over it to activate?
I'm thinking of placing mine behind a thin piece of plastic if the latter is the case.

I purchased Monster M7 a few days ago and I really like it. But I have two problem:
1/ As Monster advertised it have 5 Mpx size for rear camera. But in-built application indicate 3 Mpx only.
2/ Front-facing camera just not working! It's unbelieveable! In-built application doesn't find it!!!
I always knew this company as a pattern of quality! I sent email them & waiting for comprehensive answer.

About 3 Mp - I had the same issue and asked Monster Support about ([email protected]). They answered — The 3 megapixel is simply a firmware error and at this time we do have an update available which solves the camera’s megapixel issue. If you’d like to try this update you would require a computer running Windows & we’ll email you step by step simple instructions. Would you like to try? So I'm waiting from them this update. Send email to them too.

Yes, DEFINITELY Wear Mini Launcher. I would also check out Wear Aware, which will vibrate your watch a bunch when it loses connection with your phone (helps make sure you dont forget phone somewhere.
Better Wear Face is also a pretty nice couple of custom watch faces
and, if you're a Goldeneye fan definitely check out Secret Agent watch face (its my current fav!)

Yes, I use Wear Aware too -- walked out of my house leaving my phone on the coffee table one too many times -- now I don't have to crawl back all the way from my car to retrieve it.
The delivery guys couldn't take any longer, could they?
They said "in 2-3 working days" but on the site they updated saying "by august 1st" (tomorrow in my local time) so I guess its tomorrow or nothing

Snap I spent a whole weekend hunting for one in store, think I just got lucky at 3 on the Sunday...
Teeside 3 had no idea what I was talking about, then Boro store came up trumps, and only had one in stock! Oooosh!
In my mind I got the only one in the north east

Cheers man right as I was about to search
head on over here http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-watch...its not very populated at the moment, about the same as the Gear Live forums, but theres a tool on there that I used when I had my G Watch that unlocked your bootloader, rooted AND installed TWRP...all in one app. It worked like a charm for me!
