Android/IOS developers - Online Courses, Schools, and Other External Resour

Hey there,
I had an idea for an app and since I have no programming skills or experience I wanted to see if anyone could recommend a developer or resource they have used to hire a developer.
The idea behind the app is to provide users of said app with the ability to communicate information about their motorcycles. For example,
in talking about clarifying what actions the program is intended to perform
• Search for a motorcycle by color, model, make, location, year, etc.
• Should be able to filter by location
• Should be able to receive and send messages
• User A should be able to upload photos for users B,C,D
(if this is in the wrong section, sorry in advance, I can move it.)
thanks for your time

[REQUEST] Android App Development

Hi you all!
I don't know if I'm in the right section here, of if I'm allowed to do it, but I have a question: where|how can I find or submit an App development request?
In other words: I`m looking for someone (developer) that can build a specific App for me. I have a small budget for it, and I would love to hear from any one interested.
Below is the basic description of the work.
At first, I'll try to explain the context of what I'm looking for.
I'm director of a Pathfinder Club, also knows as Pfadfinder (German), Desbravadores (Portuguese) or Conquistadores (Spanish). We are an organization similar to Scouts, that work with children of different ages.
We meet every week to develop activities related to nature, physical skills, social works and so on.
What I need is an app for large-screen Android devices, where one can check and mark the member's presence on a specific day and the activities (pre-defined) that he has accomplished on that day. Each activity, such as the presence, must be recognized as Points, which need to be summed up for an entire year. At the end of the year, we can know who has the higher presence rate, and who has performed the most number of activities during the year.
An Excel spreadsheet has done the trick for me for some years, but I am willing to improve this system by means of a mobile device, where I can check and assign points on the go.
I guess, it would require a database with the names of each member (I must be able to add members during the year), and a interface containing the names of each members on the left (like in a spreadsheet), and different columns to the right, each one referring to a different criteria (presence, required materials along, if he has made the required activity during the previous weeks, etc). When I click on a specific criteria, a small windows should pop-up, revealing the points that I will assign to the member.
For example, on the presence case, if the members is present, he gets 10 points. If he is present, but arrived late, he get 5 points. If he is not present, he gets 0 points.
The most important: these points need to be exportable to excel, so I can work with them at the end of the year. I supposed it should be simpler than creating a fancy graphic interface on the app for that.
I'm actually from Brazil, but there would be no problem if the the app is developed in English.
This can be easily done with basic php and html. Is there a reason you are set on Android?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Hi, m.ark!
Until now I have worked with Excel spreadsheets, and it works just fine.
I'm willing to have an Android app because then I can assign these points easily on the go, with a nice friendly interface that doesn't require typing the points.
If your question was about Android versus other mobile OS, then the answer is based on the price and availability of Android tablets. And because I already own one.

Thanks for your feedback.
Like the idea so far!!! i had something like this on Windows Mobile....I used to use it to text and view my phone without having to pick it up.
Question: Do you have to have the full version in order to text? That's what I wanted to try before I make a purchase.
Can you add "Background task" so i can have this on while doing other tasks on my phone?
Thanks.

Just left a few suggestions (under nick "SeNS") on your voting site.
BTW, nice work (bought a paid version)! I especially like a web page design
P.S. I do have a question to you: could you help with web-page design for the open source project(s)? And did you offer some commercial services for the custom web page design (I need a simple "Metro-style" informational home page)?

Dear barrychon,
Thank you for your useful feedback.
Actually the trial version is a quite similar to the full version with limitation with number of photos and contacts, please try the trial before purchasing.
Regarding the text from PC, yes you can send text messages, emails, make phone calls from PC using GoToMyPhone, however, you have to confirm the action from your phone, this is a security concern from Microsoft API.
Regarding the background task, even if the application works in background you can't reach it via socket, the background apps run every amount of time, API does not allow Background apps as service.

Dear SeNS,
I really appreciate your voice on my feedback page, I will try my best to review and include some features if feasible with current API.
Concerning your requests, I may be able to help with open source projects, please check my page on codeplex: http://www.codeplex.com/site/users/view/fakoua
Review my current projects and invite me to your projects or just mail me [email protected].
Concerning commercial services, I really appreciate your offer, but I'm busy with too many projects including GoToMyPhone and MetroAirServer (light IIS over WP8), I can't provide commercial services.
For your metro-style page, you may check the open source section in GoToMyPhone about page, and please refer to: http://aozora.github.io/bootmetro/ a modified theme for Bootstrap (twitter bootstrap) it may help with your design.
Please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Thanks for the quick reply; I'm really appreciate your attention!
Please, check my codeplex profile: https://www.codeplex.com/site/users/view/SeNS
Probably, I'll ask you soon about design of the simple configuration web-page for my new, upcoming project "X10 home server" (not released yet). There is nothing special; just a few controls and input boxes but I really want it elegant and stylish as your configuration pages for the "GoToMyPhone" app

Please read the XDA forum rules regarding posting apps, and make sure you're in compliance with them. The key component is that you're not allowed to use this board as advertising for a paid app, although you're welcome to provide a way to get it for free here and then link to a paid version (not a paid *upgrade*; that's not the same thing) as a sort of "feel free to donate by buying the app from the store" kind of thing.
I haven't tried the app yet, so I don't know how severe the trial restrictions are (something you should be specific about, by the way) but I'm tired of seeing links to paid third-party apps in the forum. Time was, this board was for finding beta testers and publishing links that anybody could use (often to the XAP files themselves; this is a developer community and most of us probably have dev-unlocked phones).
Sorry

Dear GoodDayToDie
I'm so sorry if I didn't follow the forum rules, I know it is not an excuse, but I found a lots of free trial apps with commercial edition, and that's why I created this thread, and as I said, It is not an excuse.
Please feel free to take any action regarding this post if you think it is not following the rules.
Thanks
Eh, I'm not a moderator or anything, I just want to make sure they don't have to get involved. Some of the apps, where the trial is "get the app for free, and if you want to donate/thank us, buy it!", are not a problem at all; it's mostly a matter of making sure people can get the app for free if you want to post it here. There's nothing wrong with asking for donations or anything, it's just not OK to advertise commercial stuff unless it's related to the site.

[Q] Looking for an Interview (Survey?) App

I regularly need to meet with clients at work and end up asking the same questions alot. I then need to generate reports based on my data. I've been looking for an app that would let me replace my pad & paper for a tablet, but I haven't been able to find anything that meets my needs.
I'd be willing to pay up to $150 for this app. I was hoping someone might have a suggestion.
My requirements:
- no cloud required (client records are confidential and therefore must stay local)
- save to csv (or some other way for to get the info into a spreadsheet)
- drop down menus of pre-determined answers available
- check boxes or radio buttons available
- ability to select "other" and input answer with the keyboard
- dynamic Q's (ex: if the question "how many bank accounts do you have?" is answered "none" then the next question, "what are the acct numbers?" is skipped)
After all my digging, all I've been able to find are cloud/subscription based applications. They seem to be a great way for Family Feud to get their data, but not a way to create a report that states "Mr. Smith has $110,231 worth of assets in the following accounts..."
Anyone use something similar at work? Thanks for any insight.

[Q] Looking for: Peer to Peer location based assistance request app

I'm looking for an app that allows users to send a request for help/assistance with built in location, short message and some pictures.
Other users detecting a request within a preset range would be notified of the event and be able to respond.
I've found a couple of apps that do this sort of thing, however they are centralised/restricted to specific areas. For example Australia has only two cities covered, each by a different app.
My desire implement it for off-road driving recovery requests. I'm a member of a Facebook group for such requests of people whom are bogged or otherwise challenged. The most common issue I see it people asking where the stuck vehicle is located and where is "such and such" track located.
A few times when a request has been nearby to me, I've not seen it until too late because Facebook felt it wasn't important enough to show it to me.
I've search everywhere I can think of but an unable to find anything close to suitable. I'm hoping someone here might know of something (or even be willing to start a new project).
Many thanks in advance for any assistance.

Newbie app development help.

Hello guys, this is my first post here in the forum and i'm looking for a very specific answer, hope you can help me.
So I had this idea for an app that could really optimize the way people work here @ my workplace, but the thing is: i know nothing about programming and development
The question is: how hard would it be/how long would it take for a complete newbie to develop this app? (description below).
It consists basically in a scheduler & task assignment app. It must be able to:
Register two kinds off app users: workers/schedulers (WS) and schedulers only (SO).
Create WS subgroups (something like tags or flags so tasks can be assigned to a specific subgroup of WS').
Allow WS to create their own daily schedule and share it with all schedulers.
Allow SO to have access to all WS' schedules and fill them remotely.
Allow SO to auto-assign tasks to the nearest availabe WS of an specific subgroup.
Allow both WS and SO to see wich tasks were assigned by each one.
This is the main idea, of course there are some minor changes and details that I need to add, but this is enough to get the main idea.
Waiting for an answer, thank you in advance.
