i am havin HTC AMAZE 4G
when i used to charge it before
phone used to come to 90% from a full in approximately 1 hour.
now it comes very quickly like 10-15 minutes
& also the major problem is my phone gets switched off at any battery percentage like 65% & when it gets restarted it comes to around 8% or sometimes even 4%.
if i pull out battery again restart the phone then sometimes it comes to around 30% back or any random increase in battery or sometimes even decreases to 4% & then the battery gets drained in 5 minutes & i have charge it again
battery takes more time to even charge
sometimes using DATA & charging it even takes 10 hours to charge
i dont know what is the problem
i have been thinking about battery problems
but i googled & in some blogs it shows as circuit problems too
the problem is i am living in INDIA
this phone is not official here so the service center guy wont touch it & i dont want to waste money on the battery if it isnt the problem

How old is your handset? Battery life decline is normal as it ages. Without being able to inspect and test yours out all I can tell you is the most likely explanation for what you're describing is battery wear.
The original HTC battery that came with my phone only holds 2/3 of the charge it once had when new, which is why I invested in a pair of Anker batteries and an external charging station (I purchased them together in a package on eBay for under $30 US shipped). Having the extra batteries has been an excellent addition. I alternate them every few days to more evenly balance how they are wearing and to prolong the remaining life of my original battery. Plus it's great to have an extra battery to use for those times when I really need my device, but don't have the ability to plug in.

You're getting the different results because the batteries aren't calibrated to each phone. If you put your fully charged battery in your father's phone it shows 56%, correct? What happens when you put your father's fully charged battery in your phone? Keep in mind that when switching around the batteries neither with be calibrated to the device, but will instead show a percentage vs the battery that was properly calibrated.
Example: the battery in my phone shows as fully charged, but is worn and no longer charges to the maximum. If I place it in my brother's Evo 3D which uses the same size battery but is newer. It will show as only partially charged because his device is calibrated to his newer stronger battery. Conversely, if I put his newer battery in my phone which has been calibrated to my older worn battery it will appear to be fully or nearly fully charged for a long time before it begins to show it's draining with use.
The only way to properly test your battery would be to either try a known stronger one in yours for several charge - discharge cycles as your phone calibrates to it, or to try your battery in another device for several such cycles. Then you need to compare if there was an improvement in up-time or not. Short of taking it in to be checked on diagnostic equipment it's the best method I can think of.

Maybe you just need to wipe battery stats. One trick that works is let it drain completly and let it be drain over night and charge it again keep doing a couple of days it may just get better. But think is just battery problem not hardware related.
My Original HTC battery worked its way down to 2 hours of usable talk time. Eventually, got so bad that it barely charged on anything but a high current wall charger. Technically it was under warranty at the time...
Ordered 2 Anker Batteries w/ charger for $30, and not long after that the charger broke. It quit charging batteries.
I then just stuck with one Anker battery in my phone and the other as backup. The battery I used the most is now down to about 4 hours of life on a full charge. The least used is about 8. I try to keep the worse one charged up as a backup in a pinch and now use the good battery full time.
Just how life goes sometimes...

Yeah that Anker charger is the weak-spot in that 2 battery package deal. The damn thing is flimsy and fragile. I'm so paranoid about breaking it I treat it with kid gloves. The batteries are pretty good though. The package was one of the best investments I made since owning the Amaze. Using indelible marker I labeled them 1 and 2, and rotate their usage with my original HTC (which is easy to distinguish). This way when I'm on the road I always have one fully charged spare handy, one charging at home, and one in my handset.

But When I was using official ICS from T-mobile, I had the same problem, even after wiping. I even faced a funny thing. Percentage of battery in bar was different from percentage shown in lock screen!!!
After flashing custom rom, All problems GONE!

Newbie here - I have a stock G Tablet.

Try to recharge with the device powered off, and let it charge for at least half an hour after the light turns green.
I've left it plugged in a good 2 to 3 hours after the green light came on.
It still only reaches 93%.

Do a full cycle, all the way dead and then charge as stated for about 30 minutes after the green light comes on. It could be just a calibration problem. How long is the battery lasting for you?
I use it for short periods throughout a day, so it is difficult to gauge an accurate time.
A rough guess would be approximately 6+ hours.
I always thought it wasn't good to totally drain this type of battery ?

I think this is a LiPo battery - if so, then its is OK to let it drain all the way - just don't do it too often. You should *always* do two full discharge/recharge cycles on any Lithium-based battery as soon as you purchase it, and again about every month or two.
For removable Lithium-based batteries (i.e. *not* for gtab!), if you aren't going to use the battery for, say, more than a week, the best thing to do is to discharge it to about 50% and then put it in the refrigerator. When you are going to start using it again, let it warm to room temperature for at least a few hours to a day (depending on how big it is), *then* put it on the charger. Absolutely do not charge the battery cold as the thermal shock could damage the battery.
The initial discharge/recharge cycles "primes the pump" so that you get the maximum capacity out of the battery (who knows how long the battery has been 'sitting on the shelf'), and the ongoing discharge/recharge cycles keeps the battery at its maximum capacity *and* allows the calibration electronics more accurately track the slow decline of the battery's capacity.
BTW, my gtab's battery lasted on-and-off for almost 2 1/2 days. That was 'sleeping' it at night (*not* turning it off!) and using it on-and-off wifi/surfing/playing AB during the day. I must say, the gtab's battery life is phenomenal!

Thanks. Tried the full discharge and then full charge with the gtab turned off, left for about an hour after the green indicator, but still stuck at 95%. Even deleted the batterystats.bin file. no change. must i do two cycles of full discharge and charge?
I'm having similar issues. I powered off my gtab overnight and let it charge for 8-9 hours and I have not been able to get the battery to say 100%. I'm going to leave it on all day and let it discharge completely and try again tonight.

If you do two full discharge/recharge cycles and the battery is still not showing 100%, then I would take it back. Either it is the battery or the battery calibration electronics that isn't working (my bet would be the battery). Furthermore, since the battery is "not removable", its just not worth keeping it and taking the chance.
If the battery had been removable, then Viewsonic could have just sent you a new battery instead of having a whole gtab come back....
(Note for Viewsonic - this is where removable batteries are superior to non-removable!)

Before you return it check the actual battery life. If it turns out that it's just a calibration issue and if your happy with everything else, perhaps you should keep it.

mine is different... I can charge up to 100%, and keep using it for few hours at night, put it to sleep, then I wake up in the morning and find the battery completely drained... any1 has the similar issues??

You can try going to settings/applications/running services and turn off all non-essential services before putting it to sleep.
Mine doesn't get above 96%, will have to try the suggestions here but overall I'm still very happy with battery life of the 96%...

have you guys notice your battery temperature? i got 2 gtab but both operating at different temperature 1 at 23-24 other is around 31?
My battery life seems pretty good even though it doesn't go higher than 95-96%. I saw in another thread to try resetting battery statistics in clockwork recovery to see if that will fix the battery display problems. I'm going to try that next.
I've got the Malata Zpad (SMB-1002-3G) and mine now wont go over 91% (happened on the 3rd day). It used to charge to 100% no problem for the first two days.
I did a recovery (format) when you press the power and volume up button, but that didn't seem to do anything (other than wipe all my settings and put it back to original factory settings of course)
I'm pretty sure the battery is fine, and lasts just as long, but it would be good to be able to reset the battery status.
PS: My Zpad is not rooted or anything. It's pretty much standard (just running Launcher Pro).

Do you have Clockwork installed by chance? If you do you can charge the battery all the way up and then go into clockwork and reset the battery stats.

Anybody had this problem?
I've had my GS2 for nearly 3 months and all has been well. Coming from a Motorola XT720, EVERYTHING is better including the battery life.
Last week I noticed that when connecting the charger, it took a long time for the phone to register that it was connected, ie. it didn't beep, light up and show the charging icon. It was also slow to recognize that the charger had been disconnected. (The charging icon would stay on for some time after.)
I thought a re-boot would help and it threw up the big battery charging icon flashing alternately with the battery over heating icon! Even pulling the battery wouldn't stop the warning message unless it was removed for at least a couple of hours or re-booting via Home, Vol+ and Power.
Whilst all of this was happening, battery life plummeted. I normally get about 1-3% loss of battery per hour in standby but this increased to 5-10% per hour.
The phone has somehow regained its normal response to the charger being connected and disconnected but the poor battery life remains.
Its un-locked, un-rooted and running KF3:KE7:KD1
Any ideas before I do a complete reset?

Thanks. I forgot to mention that I've just bought an Andida "2000"mAh battery from Mobilefun. It's only had a couple charging cycles but it's behaving exactly the same as the original battery, which confuses things!
It could be that the problem is effecting it our it's just not working at it's full potential yet.

Even the biggest best know battery manufactures cannot make a 2000mah battery to fit the S2 without needing a replacement back cover, the new Samsung 2000mah needs one.
So the Andida "2000"mAh battery , is more likely to be around 1500-1800mah

Since you have tried a second battery and the phone is acting the same way the fault must be with the phone, the charging socket is not loose or something?
Or maybe the phone charger is faulty, do you have a second to try?

One of the worst things you can do to a lithium battery is discharge it completely. They don't suffer from "memory" yet every time someone here in the forums complains that they are getting crappy battery life the instruction to discharge and recharge to 100% before clearing stats pops up.

I've only let my battery discharge completely once, and it wasn't on purpose. From the posts I see here I think I get above average battery life. About 18 hours miui before I go for the charger and on 2.2 roms I'd get 20 hours and still have 40% or so to go. So no I don't think completely discharging your battery does anything for battery life.

I have never run mine down completely. Gotten it to about 6% but that was because I was fighting ROM flashing problems. I usually call 25-30% enough for me and plug in then. I am also getting 30 hours out of my 2.2 with a good deal of use. I used to have a Motorola and their batteries are total crap. If you EVER let it get down below 10%, it took some real work for it to charge correctly and boot up. Even as much as a hardware mod where I have had to cut the wires on a USB charge cord and charge it rigged up with the wires pressed against the battery and prongs in the phone. Very dangerous, but worked for a last resort.
Discharging the battery is not for the sake of the battery,but more so for the ROMs data and how it acquires the battstats usage. I only run it up and down and clear stats when flashing a new ROM, but I do use my phone moderate to heavy daily and have had great success in battery life the way I calibrate it.
The solution I think is to use a larger capacity battery and regulate it to narrower window of operation never fully charging or discharging.
The fastest killer though seems to be heat.
I have read several times that your phone does not fully discharge the battery...that there is still a minimal amount of charge,not enough for the phone to opperate but enough to not damage the battery when it shuts down
Maybe the batterystats file can be saved after being calibrated once and then restored after every wipe oor flash.. that would save some time aabd according to you guys, batt life too

I've only ever calibrated my a few times and only after flashing a new rom. I never run my battery down after resetting the stats. I just use my phone as I normally do. My understanding of calibration is that it's not about squeezing more life out of the battery despite what most people think but of getting a more accurate measurement of the battery's actual charge. Also while it's true that the phone will shut of before the battery is completely discharged damaging the battery, allowing the battery charge to drop that low shortens your battery's life and decreases the amount of charge your battery can hold.
What gets me is I also read somewhere that for optimum battery life you should keep your battery level somewhere between 70%-40%. Of course that doesn't stop me from charging my phone to 100% everyday. I don't remember where I found that article but I'll post a link if I can find it again.
The reason this bad advice about completely discharging your battery persists is probably the same reason people keep recommending automatic task killers.

Discharging the Battery & Running the Battery Dead is 2 Different things!
We recommend running the battery dead ( Phone Shuts Off ) & recharging while off to train the Android OS from Full > Empty..
Running the Phone until Dead is not Going to hurt the Battery in anyways shape or form despite what you may think or read!
The Reason is, the battery is never fully Discharge & still holds Voltage.. The Calculations of Charged / Dead is at the Kernel Level, so even when dead it still has a 3.4v still or roughly..
As long as the kernel isn't tampered with, discharging the battery via the Phone will never hurt the battery period!
Now, Based on the link you posted you would have to run the battery down past the safe discharge point.. Via some other means of killing the battery, other than using the Phone.
To help ease your mind, Remember this:
~ Charge levels is controlled by the kernel
~ Even when Phone powers off, there is still plenty of charge in the Phone's Battery
~ Battery is never Fully charged, as this also hurts lithium batteries
Roughly every Android kernel does not let lithium battery get below 3.4v and at most 96% charged.

If you are still concerned wait until your phone turns off and stick your battery on a meter. You will see there is still power left in it...
My original battery that came with the phone got great life, then couple of months later it was discharging in like 2-4 hrs(froyo), so I called, they sent another one free...5-6 months later that one started doing it as well, so I pulled out the old one from the drawer, it powered on at like 85% ! and I was getting crazy ass life out of it on miui over 30 hrs one time...now that one is acting up again, so I'm going to try to swap again..lol...maybe there's something to not using them for a while...
I've used diff roms and combinations of draining/recharging...calibrating, not calibrating...it's always different results..honestly I don't think there's any rhyme or reason to it other than the fact that many vibrants have diff hardware and there will always be some weird quirk on a per user basis...
As far as hurting it by draining it all the way, I hardly think that's the case seeing as with both batteries I've always let it run down...not on purpose but there has been many many times I've plugged in at 1% or had to power back on because it died...charged it up and got 20-30hrs no prob..usually issues come up when flashing a new rom...
i think it all comes down to luck of the draw. ive had my vibrant since launch day, and i still manage great battery life. my battery is actually stamped 7-02-2010. every 2 weeks or so ill drain the battery completely, turn it back on and allow itself to die again, and finally allow it to fully charge overnight or 4 hours. i usually get a good 7-8 hours of constant use on cm7, or over 24hours if let on standby.
im still debating if i want to grab an epic 4g touch battery as well to increase it even more.

in there they tested in a store since the epic 4g touch battery fit into a regular epic 4g, if it would fit into a vibrant. only thing is you have to put the battery in facing inside, and it fits and works 100%

Epic touch battery for the win. I've been rocking it for a few weeks. I was on miui and getting 14-16hrs. I recently went back to froyo and yesterday I got 12hrs off of a 67% charge.

My old phone's (Xperia S) battery drains very fast (can't last for a day) after 2 years of use. When it was new it lasted about one and a half day. I charged it every day for 2 years and the battery became weaker. I don't want this to happen with my Z2. I use dock for charging my Z2. USB cable or dock is better for the battery? And when should I charge it? wait while the battery drains full or charge it every day and don't let it drain, just about half, or don't charge it full and get it drained every day. And how long should I charge it? just that time while it charge full or leave it charging for longer (a whole night, about 10h)

I dont think it has anything to do with the way you are using to charge your phone... It's just natural for the battery to need to be replaced after a couple of years as far as i know
As far as I'm aware, after about 500 charge cycles the battery stops charging to full capacity (although it says it is). So the battery quality degrades over time regardless.
the battery of the Z2 is hardly affected by how you charge or how many times its charged

just charge normaly,
somehow i get the best life out of charging randomly, e.g. never 0>100% or simular but instead 20 to 60% increments gives me the best total life
in terms of wear, cant do anything with a Li-ion battery as far as i know
ok, better charge it when it gets as low as 30% and better not fully charge it, but 85-90% will be great for long term life. and never let it connected if it happened to reach 100%, also better keep it somewhere cold and definitely not under sunlight
It is said to live longer if you charge it from 50 to 90%.
That said, if you charge it from 0 to 100% every 2 days, or charge it from 50 to 90% ever day.... well... the end result is the same... it doesn't matter at all.
The battery already has safety over/undervoltage protection, therfore charching it as you like doesn't change much at all. You will see that a phone left at 100% in the charger will drop to 97-95% before it starts charging again.
i think the battery in the Z2 was said to handle about 600 cycles with less than 10% Battery degration.
if you charge it every 2 days thats about 3.5 years.

I have been using MPJ battery without problems so far, it takes more charge than the original and lasts longer
2 hours charging, only 28%, something is wrong, I will take a spare battery when I go out, later will try with original to see if the problem is the battery or the phone...

The cable was not connected during the night, when it discharged, any way now it seems ok, only lost 2% in about 5 hours, no use ither than checking the time and battery load
But there is a bad contact on the USB plug, sometimes I have to fiddle with it to get contact...

Again, this time stranger, no apps on battery usage, but battery was discharging faster than usual and died at 7 am with a beep that awakened me, with still over 20% charge
-First screenshot, it died sometime the previous night, so I charged to 30%, then nothing showing, but kept the 30% charge until I charge it again around 16:00.
-Second screenshot, it has "blanks" on the chart, never noticed that before.
-Third screenshot, using more than usual during the night, it uses between 3% and 5%, and at 20% it just dies, now I put back the original battery to test, but it seems to be using more than usual
people should know MPJ battery's is trash, isnt worth the money because some weeks after they will be worst and worst!! i personnaly prefer to buy a original battery as a spare one, they are cheap now, with 19€ in LG spares site you can buy one or two and swap them, is easy, and buy a external charger from ebay or something (because LG spares site dont have that on sale i dont know why).
i will buy the external charger and one or two spare battery's soon because my battery is discharging too fast, now with 2h of videocall in skype my phone goes from 100 to 46 quickly. in the first two months i have almost 6h SoT and now i cant go longer than 4h.

people should know MPJ battery's is trash, isnt worth the money because some weeks after they will be worst and worst!! i personnaly prefer to buy a original battery as a spare one, they are cheap now, with 19€ in LG spares site you can buy one or two and swap them, is easy, and buy a external charger from ebay or something (because LG spares site dont have that on sale i dont know why).
i will buy the external charger and one or two spare battery's soon because my battery is discharging too fast, now with 2h of videocall in skype my phone goes from 100 to 46 quickly. in the first two months i have almost 6h SoT and now i cant go longer than 4h.

The MPJ was offered to me for free to do a test, it was fine until now, I am not yet sure if it is the battery, will let you know when I am sure
By the way Android OS battery use is way down with the original battery

the MPJ battery's degradate with time, the real mah's decrease every charge. - i know what i say because i use one with my G3 almost 1 year ago and the battery is really worst than the original one!
one usefull app to have to know when your phone is 100% charge with the real mah's count is AccuBattery from playstore, there you find the real capacity of battery as welll their health...
you never should unplug the phone when the 100% pop-up shows full charged, you need to keep it from more one hour to get the full mah's and a good charge, i do this all the time and get some good battery with the original.
LG's battery isnt the best in the world but is better than MPJ for sure, i dont want a brick but if i need a excelent battery ZeroLemon 9000mah is a excelent battery, unfortunnaly they dont do the standard capacity 3000 mah for V10 only the 9000 mah...but this turn the phone is a heavy weight brick.

P.S: The skype time is all in videocall. idk why details show only 47 minutes of camera usage!!!
In the garbage
Everything seems to be working fine with the original battery, MPJ in the garbage where it belongs, wont risk testing again
Even the "bad contact on the USB plug" was the battery failing
