[Q] Red Triangle after reboot in recovery - AT&T HTC One (M8)

Hi Just got my new device HTC M8 from ATT. Just did unlock bootloader and want to root my phone but after reboot in recovery mode it stuck with red triangle and I'm not able even to switch it off. Is there any way to reboot it?

Just hold the power button for awhile

You only need to hold (Volume Up + Power) until it reboots.

Random boot loop...won't turn on now.

Hello all...So yesterday, my Aria all of a sudden shut off and then restarted...I thought that was strange but thought nothing of it other than a glitch, however a few minutes later, it shut off again and now it won't get past the HTC screen and continues to boot loop at that screen. Running CM7
Anyone know anything I can do? Am I screwed? Has my Aria bit the dust? I was hoping that it would hold out until the One XL came out or the SIII
thanks,
Mike

You don't have to get to the bootscreen to access recovery. Can you get into the bootloader?

I can get into the bootloader, however when I select recovery, the white HTC screen shows (as it always did before I got into recovery) that is the "boot screen" that I can't get past...not the cyanogen boot screen

after a long call to ATT, I'm getting a free replacement and I still get to keep my upgrade, so I'm no longer rushed to use it!

Same issue, can't get past HTC screen
Hi, I know this is an old thread but I have the same problem and I'm wondering how you even got into the bootloader; I can't get past the HTC screen; it's looping; does a little vibrate, blanks for a second, then back to HTC (I flashed a bad gapps). Anyway holding down buttons isn't getting me anywhere and I don't have a computer I can plug it into. Any ideas?

Turn phone completely off. If you can't do that, remove the battery so it turns completely off, then put it back in.
Press and hold the volume down button. Press the power button. Continue to hold the volume down button until the HBOOT screen appears, then you can release.
If you continue to have problems, try doing the same process but hold the trackball button instead of the volume down button. This should take you to the FASTBOOT screen, but from there you can select "Bootloader" from the list of choices to go into HBOOT.
Make sure the USB cable is not connected while you're doing this.

First you need to go to fastboot and "fastboot erase cache"
If you can't boot again to recovery then you need to install again the recovery with fastboot.
Then you will need to sideload a Rom.zip to get it on your SD Card.
Once in then flash the rom as usual with the recovery :good:

Power + vol down takes you directly to the bootloader, if you see a splash screen, your not doing it right.

I press Volume Down + Power.....3 buttons at the bottom flash.
I continue to hold....They stop flashing. I release Volume Down and Power.
HTC Screen for 2 seconds than off. I've tried holding Power and volume down for like 5 minutes and nothing besides that screen.
Keep power button until power is down (with blinking lights). Then push and hold vol down, then give the power button a push.
Now you should be in bootloader

This did it thanks......
Next problem......
I went in and wiped Cache, Dalvik, Factory Reset and System.
Recovered my Back-Ups.......I tried both and when I go to reboot, I get that HTC Splash Screen for 2 seconds again and then nothing!
My biggest issue is my PC cant see my phone and therefore can't get another ROM onto my phone....
I'm going to try and put ViperXL back on and see if there is another way to deal with the Memory Card Issue :silly:
I suppose you know that you have to wait about 5 min before trying to sideload. In the bootloader you should also be able to get a connection. You could also try to remove the device on your pc and then let your pc reinstall the drivers. When all else fails.... try to do a RUU setup and start all over.

I have ViperXL back up....
So now I'm right back to where I started.....
Apparently the SD Card thing is a known Jellybean Issue (I've been reading as much as I'm asking)
ViperXL has an "OTA Update" that I can flash that address this....
How can I flash something if I can't even get the file on my phone?
Try this: restore your ROM backup, after that go to bootloader, flash kernel and don't forget to erase cache (I assume you know how to flash kernel)

[Q] my screen is black, no access to bootloader ,adb/fastboot doesnt recognize phone

sprint htc evo 4g lte, rooted s-off, twrp recvoery, stock android 4.1 rom
I was roooted for sometime now and have been using a stock rom but i decided i want to try the stable cm10 rom. Created twrp backup and I followed directions and wiped cache,Dalvik cache and performed factory wipe before i flashed the rom. After the flash was successful i rebooted the phone and thats when the problems began. The Htc splash screen came on and then the screen went blank and cant get it to do anything.
what i've tried
1)held down power button for 10 secs to reboot phone, soft screen buttons light up indicating reboot, phone vibrates htc splash screen comes on and then black screen returns
2)tried to enter bootloader but holding down power button and vol button but nothing happens
3)connected phone to computer to run adb/fastboot, adb devices and fastboot devices does not find my phone
4)let the battery drain completely and then recharge but same problem persists
Im stuck on what to do next does anyone have any ideas on what to do or do i have a bricked phone.
Have u used the power/ volume down before to access bootloader cause it can be tricky if your not used to it.
Once your lights have flashed 10 or twelve times I usually take my finger off the power button and press & hold vol down then a few seconds later I press power while never letting go of vol button.
Also you never mentioned wiping system before the flash. This is probably the most important wipe. Its basically the Rom
Good luck

Not sure man but I did see a thread about this very issue somewhere. I would start with toggling CDMA only and data on and off. Try sprint only and CDMA only . that usually works for me

[Q] adb fastboot recovery doesn't work

Trying to get my phone into recovery mode. Droid DNA, root and s-off via Moonshine.
When I try to go into recover either through the bootloader or adb, the phone resets, goes dark for a bit, then shows a triangle with an exclamation point hovering over an image of the phone.
I can smother the phone and reboot, but I can't get into recovery.
Thanks in advance.

I lifted the following from somewhere....
Shut down the device. Hold down Volume Down and hold down Power until you boot into the HBOOT menu. Select the RECOVERY option using the Volume buttons. Your phone will show the white HTC screen, then you'll see a black screen. It will take a while but it will say failed to mount sd four times. Wait until it turns into a red triangle with an exclamation point inside the triangle and from there, hold down the Volume Up and then press the Power button. You will see a small list, this is stock recovery
Ha! That worked perfectly. I need to start a different thread now to understand the error message.
Thanks!

[Q] ONE Max stuck on "HTC ONE" screen...

I was doing a backup with TWRP and everything seemed to go just fine. Then after a reboot i unlocked the phone to notice that it was leaving the lock-screen icons on the bottom of the page. I still had access to my notification bar and could clear notifications. Figuring that there had just been a mistake in the boot process, I held the power button to restart the phone. Well it never brought up my power menu to restart. Also instead of making me wait ten seconds until it flashed its lights and restarted, it just restarted in like 3 seconds. Now my phone is stuck on the HTC ONE screen and will not respond to anything including hold the power button.
My phone is rooted an s-off. I know that I have not posted at all on here, but I have been rooting and know how at least the basics on adb shell. I just have never had a phone lock up to this point. If I can at least get to recovery, I should have 2 or 3 backups to run. I just don't want to have to wait for the phone battery to die just to hope I can get to recovery.

Are you saying volume up + power button does not restart your phone nor does any help? Check if your phone is detected in computer and if so you can issue and adb reboot command
also since there is no removable battery HTC added a reboot function press home vol down and power that should do the trick
The phone is not detected by a computer, nor will it charge. Vol down and power is not cutting it off. Right now I am waiting for the battery to die so I can hopefully boot into recovery and do a restore.
Vol up + Power was the key. I was thinking it was volume down. Thanks for all your help

Just wanted to point out I ran into this issue also (Stuck on white HTC boot screen) after wiping my ROM and Vol UP + Power did the trick for me also (and then Vol Down + Power to get back to the bootloader).
i need help, guys
so attempting to install a new rom, i must have dont something wrong because now restarting the phone will leave me on the htc logo loop and restart. i still have access to hboot and fastboot. but when attempting to load into twrp, it shows the team win logo for half a second and then restarts the phone. then i installed cwm and it does boot into it but whatever option i pick, install zip, wipe data, ANYTHING, restarts the phone.
i have no idea what to do. i tried installing a rom using adb sideload but it stops at around 80%, ive tried installing different versions of twrp and cwm and same thing. i think it is bricked. im using the verizon htc one max. the only option i see left is the ruu toolkit but ive only been able to find the sprint version and then it says that bootloader needs to be locked and i have not idea how to do that from hboot, fastboot, or cwm
attempting to install superuser also fails
if there's anyone here that can help, please, any suggestions will be appreciated. thanks =
Sounds like you're flashing the wrong TWRP.

May I suggest following these instructions?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51753483&postcount=129
If you're able to complete those instructions outlined in that post, this should set you up with the latest HBOOT, Radio and TWRP (Recovery) for the Verizon HTC One.
Make sure you read the post fully before you start, especially this part:
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip (Be sure it finishes saying 'successful', not 'please flush again immediately'. If it says the flush again, rerun the command)
If you succeed in getting that done, see if TWRP still causes the phone to reboot and get back to us.
