M7, everything is better and faster..
Only complaint is the buttons on the screen. If the app doesn't do full screen, you actually get a smaller screen for the app!

An upgrade in every shape and form. Also looking forward popular the support this device will receive that the one x+ lacked (thanks to HTC and nvidia).

Nexus 5, build quality won me over. Don't get me wrong for the price the nexus 5 is great. But I like having the extra storage option, awesome speakers and I'm looking forward to the Google play edition Roms

5s to M8
Coming from the iPhone 5s/LG G2 to the M8
This phone has a premium feel, and I love Sense 6 "Sixth Sense". Wish the camera was a little bit better but its ok. iOS 7 was boring me and small screen size of the 5s made me feel borderline claustrophobic, and LG G2's skin of Android was just like touchwiz felt outdated and laggy at times.

HTC m7
Better all around

I came from a Sprint m7 but service was weak Monday my at&t m8 fun begins.

NEXUS 4. Finally an android phone that is more gorgeous than N4

All of you guys coming from the Nexus 5 and saying this is much faster, where are you noticing it?
Just curious, because I came over from the N5 and this does feel faster in some areas but not everywhere. Just wanted to see where you notice it.
Thanks!

Coming from a Nexus 5. Phone feels better and love some of the sense 6 features. Live my N5, but am very happy with this phone. HTC did an amazing job. I will not be flashing any ROMs on this beast of a phone.

I came from a Motorola Atrix 4G ... a phone that I had since it was released in February 2011. Not only that, but I'd been using CM7.1.0 on it since anything newer didn't support the phone's fingerprint reader.
Needless to say I feel a massive improvement I love this phone!!

Deciding what phone to get

I'm thinking about changing phones I'm on T-Mobile with my amaze no longer under contract. I was looking at what they have to offer and had 4 thoughts. I'm looking for input.
1. Get the iPhone 5 and sell it to make a profit and keep using my amaze
2. Get the HTC one the processor isn't much faster than the amaze and the camera isn't as good and it also lacks SD card slot
3 get the nexus 4 16gb looks pretty nice quad core processor and is aosp but still lacks an SD card slot
4 keep my amaze and wait till it craps out.
What do you guys think? And I checked out the HTC one forums and saw sports on there so I personally ask you sports how's the HTC one

It depends. The one is a good option because it will probably be popular enough to attract development. Plus there's a 64GB option. And the Camera is actually pretty good. And I think it has LTE. Have you considered a GSIV

Just went through this. New HTC one is very fast, don't let mhz ratings fool you. Go use the phones until the sales guy kicks you out.
I tried new htc one. Old htc one, nexus 4 and LG Optimus g cousin, s3 and note 2. All much faster than amaze. All great phones.
In the end because I didn't want to lock into contract, nexus 4 and LG Optimus g were hundreds less than the rest. Went with Optimus for LTE. Arrives this week.
Hoping when s4 is finally on display in my area I don't regret it. Based on reviews like trusted tech heads at arstecnica the new LG Optimus g pro phablet is the benchmark king. Out shortly if you like the size.
Keeping my amaze as my ORD phone.

Go with the ONE. Hands down, the best phone I've ever had. I got the chance to play around with the s4..wife has the note2. It's a good device but nothing like the one. I watched a few videos on it here and there but today I watched Zero Dark Thirty and was blown away. I'm keeping this [email protected]!

Before picking up any phone I would make sure to check out what bugs people are noticing in the forums. Things like how the amaze capacitor lights bleed etc.
No regrets on not waiting for s4. Tried one out for an hour yesterday. Great phone. Just not hundreds of dollars greater than others I looked at. Happy I went with unlocked lg.

I've been using a HTC One for the past couple days and it's really fast. The front speakers sound clear and pictures are all right. The phone has no grip though so you might want to pick up a case on Amazon. The profiting from an iPhone sounds like too much work for not enough money. The Amaze is still quick for most things so unless you hate it I think you should keep it.
Go with the HTC one. It's great and development is amazing! Battery is also awesome. I get 4hrs screen on time! Sense 5 is also very fast and minimalistic making it an aosp like Rom that just tons of extra features!
I upgraded from my amaze.
You can also use the HTC logo as a Menu button so you won't lose screen realestate from an on screen menu button.

NOTE 2 user thinking about htc one

as the title says, currently i have the samsung note 2 but thinking about getting the htc one but, i'd like to get some your feelings on the phone. what are the things YOU DONT LIKE about the phone. can you stream movies from your phone to your samsung or LG tv? thank you for your feedback.
u need a htc toggle or something similiar to stream, cant stream direct from phone. not fair to compare note 2 to htc 1 so will just list the pros
pros of htc
nice body
fast ultrapixel camera and zoe. nice gallary interface
cons of htc
medicore battery
shortchange you with 720p screen instead of 1080p
sense 5 interface is slow and sluggish after a few mths of usage, badly written.
please try the phone first if you can. open up simple things you usually do on your phone and see if you can get use to it.
if you wanna try a htc phone,i rather you consider the butterfly S. otherwise wait for sony honami or lg g2. samsung is getting so boring for me and their strategy to launch s4 in so many version pisses consumers off.

There's not a single thing I don't like about the One.. and tithe comment above, I'm on 1 day 2 hours battery right now.. 5% left.. pretty good IMO.

gosh my bad. i mean not a 5" screenie ><
Sent from my C6503 using XDA Premium HD app
IMHO, the only thing "better" about the Note 2, is the screen size. Yesterday with moderate to heavy use, I was out of the house for almost 18hrs....got home with 20% battery remaining.
Being a previous Note 2 user, I can tell you that the battery life is miles ahead of the One. That and the screen size are the only two things that I would say the Note has over the One.

There is so much wrong with this post. The One has surprisingly good battery life with it's 1080p screen and small(ish) battery. Sense 5 does NOT lag at all. I've had this phone since launch and it still does not lag.

there is nothing wrong >< the guy is asking for help and i just gave him my experience with it before i switch to sony
Sent from my C6503 using XDA Premium HD app
Well bro your experience was an uneducated one, because there were several things wrong with your post like the previous user stated.
1080p screen (not 720p like you said), easily stream your media to your TV directly from your phone (it's in settings > more), Sense 5 is easily the smoothest experience I've ever had (and I owned the Nexus 4 prior to this phone) so what experience are you talking about? lol

I came from tmobile galaxy s3, iPhone 5, note 2, and Sony Xperia z.
Finally I bought the HTC one.
I felt like I made a good decision.
Sure, note 2 had amazing battery life, but I thought that the phone was too big and heavy for me.
If you're strickly for battery life, note 2 is the best. Hands down.
Now for HTC one, this might have worse battery life compare to note 2. But you can buy battery pack to charge it when you need it.
Also, there are excellent Roms out, like android revolution HD. Gives better battery life and tweaks added.
If you have extra cash to spend, HTC one is a great choice. But note 2 is still good and not lacking tech. That's until note 3 comes out.

All depends on how good the camera is. Pretty happy with my S3, so it would have to be significantly better than that.

Not upgrading.. N4 is still fine.. N5 is a marginal upgrade at best.. Skipping a generation is always best unless you're a gamer or benchmark junky.
Selling my GS4 and picking one up. I'll miss having a external memory card and battery, but pure google without rooting is calling me.

Best phone I have owned.

Just came from the Nexus 5 (and I loved it too... just have wanted something that felt solid, for years).

I agree. I'm very impressed with this phone overall. Even the photo quality is much better than I expected and is seriously being downplayed in all the reviews. I wish we had r/w access to the file system, but I can accomplish most of what I need to with an unlocked bootloader and root, so I'm content.
Yeah its a kickass phone. Much more premium than my n5. Also much better designed than the s5 or note 3.

Just spent my first full day with the device and I am blown away. The hardware is excellent. Feels great in my hand without a case (case coming soon though lol) battery life is excellent. At 4% battery right now writing this post and I've had 3 hrs 20 minutes of screen time in addition to using play music for 1 hour at the gym, YouTube videos, Web browsing, texting and the works and the battery is clutch. Screen is miles better than the AMOLED on the s4 I just switched from. Shame on me for switching away from HTC for my last phone. Very pleased.
Oh and Sense 6 has made huge leaps from sense 4 the last time I owned HTC. Software is well done, buttery smooth, and has great features that I have always wanted added to sense.

I ordered mine yesterday AT&T is telling me that I should be getting it on the 3rd. I am also coming from Nexus 5. I have had a lot of HTC phones like the Aria, Inspire, the Vivid, and the ONE X. I left Vivid and went to the S2 skyrocket cause there was something about the Vivid that I cant remember that I didn't like, then when the One X came out I had it for a little bit and I didn't like the direction they were going so I went to the S3. I have had a lot of phones in the last 5 years so I hope HTC don't let me down with this ONE. I'm gonna keep ahold of my Nexus 5 tho..

JUst got the M8. COming from the S4 and then the note 3. Loving everything about this phone. Might be the first phone I do not put AOSP in. HTC Sense is very minimal, and the tweaks they have made I find to be very helpful. I am loving the HTC camera as well as the knock features.
I left my beloved 5s for the M8 and couldnt be happier! The larger screen is the way to go

I came from a nexus 5. Right away the signal is dramatically better, and the wifi is the best I have ever seen in a phone. I have had htc one m7, galaxy s4, and nexus 5 before this. Nexus 5 was great, but the roms all look the same. CM based this and that. At lease with this I can flash sense or gpe rom if I start to miss my nexus. Battery is about 50% better than nexus. Build quality is no comparison. Sound no comparison. Speed is about the same. Camera on nexus is sharper, but the edit tab on m8 is sooo sick with the ufocus and 3d moving. Really cool, it makes my wife who is a die hard iPhone girl start to question her phone. M8 is about 1/4 inch taller than nexus but feels good in my hand but I can really notice that 1/4 inch when I put it in my back pocket which is where I always keep my phones. Im used to it now, but just pointing it out. I love the always live digitizer so I can swipe to wake etc without battery drain like the nexus 5 kernels. The only thing I kind of miss is the wireless charging. If you are a phone junky like me, it is a great upgrade. I sold my nexus 5 16 gig with wireless charger on craigslist for $370.
I still have my nexus 5,and sold my g2. This is a worthy upgrade to either device. And it was hard for me to give up my g2.
