[app] fastest keyboard with swype + fix for xmp hw keyboard - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

I found this keyboard while desperately looking for one that would show suggestions when using the hardware keyboard.
This one does, and it also got swype while having a size of less then 500 kb (without dictionary).
It has also got the ability of changing the hardware keyboard layout. Strangely it is enabled by default, so my azerty became a qwerty when using that keyboard. (I didn't know apps could take over a hardware thing???) You can turn it off in the settings -> physical keys -> remap keys. You can also change the hardware layout yourself by changing the 'language keycode' in the same settings pane, however I don't know what you should enter (qwerty is the default at 204).
you can find it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kl.ime.oh&hl=en
There are some quirks, since it is a beta.
For instance you can't type a web address decently, as it will always put a space behind a dot (unless you turn off 'insert space after swype')
Also, It will by default use auto-correction on password and log in fields, which you can also turn off by deselecting 'always predict'.
I almost forgot to mention one thing: it's by fr the fastest keyboard I have ever seen. Even after coldboot, the keyboard will popup instantly after hitting a text field.

thanks bro

finaly an alternative to swiftkey I'll test that

Good work!

Nice! Thanks!

wildfire change keyboard: Error inserting smart keyboard pro

guys, just a little problem:
I downloaded the latest version and, after enabling the keyboard settings menu - language and keyboard,
when I open a text message, and I try to change the input method, nothing shows, I have the ability to change keyboard
always appears the original, I tried to reboot to disable keybord smart, to re-enable it, but nothing,
When I click on "integration method" returns to the screen with the original keyboard, not smart .. Why?
something wrong? well, I looked around, and I have not found anyone with my problem ..
tips?
hello, I have resolved, I was wrong in practice once you've enabled the keyboard settings menu, open a new sms, and hold on "type text here" so you can choose the input method!
Ha just found this thanks my boss has a wildfire and didn't like the standard keyboard and me having a Galaxy S I thought oh thats easy lets get him a new one.
I had the same problem I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to change the default keyboard glad you figured it out I was there for ages.
Maybe its just you and me

Writing SMS with flesky - can't see what i'm typing

As you can see in this video, someone types a sms and sees what he's typing in the textbox obove the flesky input.
youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=rxW7021o-Ac
But on my Omate, this textbox is overlapped with the flesky input, so i can't see what i'm typing. In comparison to the video, the upper address/contact box takes more space on my device.
Hiding the spacebar doesn't help either.
Any idea how to solve this issue?
That's known problem...
I saw one picture on G+ where's keyboard in only one row...
Don't know what's the name of that keyboard but try to check on market, maybe you find something.
BTW...for setting TS and all accounts you can use BT keyboard (bluetooth) but, of course, that could be useful only for that - I really doubt you'll take your bt keyboard with you all the time

Try installing Flit keyboard
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.locnet.flitkeyboard
Configure it to then have the first keyboard as being small alpha only, then set the second keyboard to be numeric etc....
Should give you some more screen space
I changed the system language to english, so the upper address field uses less space. So I can see the text input box.
It's just a workaround, but I can live with it.
In all other apps I use, the flesky input works fine and no input field is overlapped.
But maybe it would be a good solution if you can select a semi-transparent keyboard. In the flesky option you can select an invisible keyboard, but thats not useful for me.

Best Keypad

Can someone recommend a good keypad for the Tab S,I find the Samsung keypad to small.i installed the Jellybean keypad which was a lot better but could not get the back key to work so I uninstalled it.anyone got any ideas.Thank You.Longlegs
Try SwiftKey Tablet on Playstore
Lo Xa thank you installed Swiftkey and its a lot better. Thanks Again.Longlegs
The best keyboard for tablet that I would recomend is, thumb kerboard. It has a lot of customizations - like key height, width, and spacing between the keys, keyboard height etc. So if you have time to tincker a bit, I think you'll like that the best

I vote for TouchPal
I also vote touchpal.
Swiftkey for me on my 8.4 lagged horribly. Not to mention it was slow opening and closing. I actually think my review was removed because i said the same thing on the play store lol
TouchPal because:
1) delete word gesture (from backspace)
2) numbers by gesture (UP from upper row)
3) symbols by gesture (DOWN from lower row).
4) predictive text (works quite nicely for me)
5) sentence based prediction (for frequently used phrases)
6) quick access of speech input
7) quick change of input language
Cons:
It does lack the cut/paste gestures of swype
No uppercase Gesture (but usually you find uppercase in the suggestions)
No auto uppercase for "Du", "Ihr" etc (this is German specific and uppercase depends on the grammar)
I highly agree with the Thumb Keyboard recommendation. I got Thumb Keyboard 4 free from the Amazon Appstore awhile back and it's the best one for tablets. Especially if you're typing in landscape position. The letters are split into sections to the far left and right, and they have arrow keys and numbers in the middle. It's my Go-to Keyboard for any tablet.
Why would anyone vote for Touchpal X?
Since I bought my Tab S 10.5 I'm still evaluating which keyboard suits my needs best. I crossed Touchpal off the list very quickly as it doesnt support landscape mode typing: srsly there is no split option available?!
Swiftkey does many things very well, but the two things I noticed are: I got only two predictions shown in total in thumb mode and there is still to date no chinese language support. Although my wife is using her IPad Air most of the time, it's still nice to have Chinese input available without having to switch to another keyboard. Otherwise the typing experience is lightning fast. Although this might be because I used Swiftkey on mg GS3 for the last two years.
Kii Keyboard fits nearly all of my needs. It just got one very big minus: the suggested word is in the middle of the screen and unreachable for any fingers without breaking them.
I guess my search will continue some more.
I assume some of you got the 8.4 version and don't require smooth thumb handling in landscape mode. 10.5 users may shine some light upon my troubles.
you are right, it does depend on the form factor. I have the 8.4 tab and I do type mainly in portrait orientation. I do gesture based input at almost same speed as on a full size physical keyboard. Probably 50% times faster than finger typing on the touchscreen (in landscape) and 2 times faster than thumb typing. So I don't really need a (split) thumb typing mode.
With swifkey you can change the form factor depending the orientation !
ie : normal in portrait, split in 2 in landscape
You can also make it floating, which is very useful

The question 'What's the best keyboard app to use?' isn't as easily answered as it may look like at first glance. Nothing tops a physical keyboard, that's for sure. But with the right app we might come close enough.
Whoever answers this question should also state his preferences and device usage style.
I like Thumb Keyboard because you can custom assign the top row of buttons to various handy functions such as copy, paste, smiley face, etc.

For now I will stick yet again to Swiftkey. I tried most if not all present keyboard apps and Swiftkey suits my typing habits in landscape mode best. Although it's far from perfect. Compared to all other apps it has no major drawback except maybe for some missing languages.
Could anyone host orginal samsung keyboard ?
I have an strange issue. Can resize stock keyboard , and can't make it undock.
Icon of those are disappeared :-\

Unfortunately the experience with physical keyboard is quite restricted in Android. I am using it with an Apple Wireless Keyboard. It is fully functional with shortcuts and special keys.
I was using it in conjuction with a BT Mouse.
But android UI isn't build for mouse control andf you don't really get a cursor, true cut-n-paste, or full undo. And, no gestures (using GMD gesture control).
So finger based navigation is much quicker than mouse.
Also you do waste time changing from input to navigation (true for both, mouse and touch based).
Overall, I am quicker with touch based navigation+swyping, than with a physical keyboard.
I also tried wireless touchpad, but that's even worse.

OSK and other accessibility features for the disabled?

... are there any? I have been looking around for answers online to no avail. I have to use Windows on-screen keyboard as my primary text input method and was hoping Remix might have a similar system. Google's system for ChromeOS is passable, but I greatly prefer the scalable Windows-style version.
Thanks in advance.
Settings -> Language & Input -> turn 'On-screen keyboard' on. This is the standard Android onscreen keyboard and can be set to any keyboard you feel like downloading. Downside is that there's no extra intelligence behind it, every time you select an input field it will pop up, even if you have an external keyboard attached. There's also a whole 'Accessibility' section in Settings, high contrast text, text-to-speech, that sort of thing. Never tested them so I can't say how good they are or if they even work yet. There's no screen magnifier, but you might be able to find an app for that, and if not, it's pretty easy to change the DPI to make everything bigger permanently.
I think the best two things Jide could do here is have the toggle for the on-screen keyboard appear in the notification area down the bottom with the other toggles, and add an auto-toggle option to sense when a hardware keyboard is hooked up/removed and disable/enable the onscreen keyboard. Far more people are using RemixOS on tablets and hybrids than I think they expected.

BT keyboard, disabling annoying shift + space shortcut?

I've been googling and cruising a number of forums, surely there must be a logical way to get rid of this annoying thing. I am unrooted, locked BL. I have a BT keyboard. Swiftkey installed as system app by default, and I have gboard installed, too. I have an annoying keyboard shortcut of space + shift that brings up the Select input method screen. Seems it's an annoying problem, but without root no easy way to fix?
I disabled swiftkey, and I see the keyboard shortcut helper lists the shift + space shortcut, but there's no way to disable or change it to something else.
Has anyone else with a BT keyboard encountered and solved this? Maybe it's my ebay keyboard and some brief lag that interprets capital letters as my sending the space + shift shortcut. It's nearly impossible to take notes with this thing because the input menu pops up every 10 seconds or so. I'll be travelling to the mainland later this week and would love to find a way to fix this because I want to use the tablet and keyboard to take notes at a conference.
Thank you very much for any help you may have. I thought every answer was on google, but this one is not popping up....
