Haha. Yeah, I think Odin has been left in the Android world for too long.
Here are some instructions for booting the device in download mode, for anyone that doesn't know:

Thats very nice .. only WHY in the world is it .exe ??!?!?!
What do you do with this extension ? .. or are there still people who use dinosaur M$ OS'es on their computers??
well... M$ OS...
well if i only could manage to make only linux machine for me..
but dad is playing CoD, mum is confused on dual boot.. so only thing is for me is to have XP machine.. and do robust EXE files.. Sorry!
Oh no, not only .exe but also it uses .net libs which are so much broken !
Come on, mate, do we REALLY have to install M$ and than also 200mb+ of useless libs on top of it just to extract a file ?!?!
P.S. installed .net crap, and managed to use it.
Dude! Take it easy!
This guy is trying to develop us some nice software and you are whining before you evene tried it!
Please show some respect for the people that try to build something that might get us further in probably a custom rom.
I will try your software tomorrow if i can find the time!
Thx for your effort!

I think that how faster the CPU how faster it builds, and I think that more ram also decrease build time? in combo with CPU
and your internet download speed, you must download files
There are hundreds of tutorials howto compile kernel/platform around on XDA. Really it's just matter of using Search.
Building up kernel can take around 5min~2h, building platform can take around 30min~8hours. Everything depends on amount of RAM and CPU cores u got, I'm building up kernel in around 10minutes and platform in about 1h 30mins, got some laptop intel i7 + 4GB RAM. There's way to speedup platform compilation using CCACHE, but it costs alot of disk space.
Compiling is impossible under Windows, even with Cygwin it would be hard to achieve. I'd recommend Ubuntu 10 or 11 (rather avoid 12). Mac will do too.

Many people, including me are experiencing various issues in Ub 12. These are usually fixable simple way but always... it's annyoing.
I would recommend you to use Ubuntu 11.
And download Code Sourcery 2009 which is mandatory for this badadroid project.
And here is a pretty good guide for you,
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1186409
That tutorial includes the guide to install Ubuntu also.
If you get stuck anywhere post here or just PM me, i will try to do my best
A note on CodeSourcery2009 - it also isn't fully compatibile with our sourcetree and may fail during compiling WLAN drivers. I switched to AOSP toolchain lately and it works like charm. HOWTO there

I think that you are asking too much and maybe it is time to make the guide yourself . For some devices you can find this kind of "spoon fed" guide, but for most devices you have to figure out how to do most of this your self. The spoon feeding guides can be really helpful depending on how close they are to your own device, but you will actually have to search for them. Another great place to start is xda-university. It took me a few minutes to find this: http://xda-university.com/as-a-developer/getting-started-building-a-kernel-from-source Perhaps this is would be a good place to start....
Need 64bits Linux
Maybe this would help http://source.android.com/source/building.html

2.
How to achieve Full Download of 10 GB as Windows Fanboy?

You can download the sources but you have to understand how local_manifest.xml does it
But why to bother doing that while you can't compile on windows ?!
The sources downloaded are compressed already....just try to follow the TUT and you will find out that there is .repo folder with compressed sources downloaded
I guess i am just too noobish to Linux and don't understand how to fix my sources yet
Currently my main issue is time :S....I've to study to pass this year :S
Maybe other experts right here can help us

method of root to wave S8500

Android 4.0.4 ICS on samsung wave I S8500 ROOTED
Its been hardly a week now Android on Samsung wave 1 S8500 is Rooted
yes you heard me, its ROOTED, that means more functionality from your Samsung wave phone.
thanks to xda Devs they have created a new zImage for your android
The touch calibration has been made, so the left part of your screen which was facing touch issues is resolved now.
Steps
1) Copy and replace this zImage in your phone memory with this one here >> http://data.hu/get/5295695/zImage (Use the “Lassú letöltés” button in mid page to download).
2) use unlocktroot tool to root your wave >> http://www.unlockroot.com
3) Download unlockroot tool from above link and install
4) Connect ur android on samsung wave to pc, make sure usb debugging is on
5) Click on root
6) it will ask to install a driver, click on install driver anyway , the second option (in win 7)
7) Wait for root to complete
3) Done
Enjoy

everything is ok but cant overclock more than 1gzh....
It seems that the overclock possibilities depend on the programm you choose (due to processor recognition I would say).
So try several programms. If it still doesn't work try to change the device name to GT-I9000 Galaxy S.
ok, but are you sure is it "GT-I9000 Galaxy S" ? becouse i read build.prop of Froyo(previous wavedroid) and here is write only "GT-I9000", so i rewrite this, but some apps don't work still(quadrant benchmark works, Tegrak overclocking don't work). Have you another idea?

No your right it is "GT-I9000". I should have had a "," between. I said Galaxy S only to inform.
Anyway maybe those apps doesn't work also on galaxy S, do they ?
To overclock there is also the possibility to modify kernel, but I don't know how to do that, maybe we can take the setting from the old overclocked kernel and apply them in the new one ?
yes, yes, i agreed, but i too shor to do this, maybe wavedroid team made some magic for us noobs (not everybody, just me)

Yes the phone heats up sometimes but with the latest updates i feel like its gone down tremendously. There is no actual flaw to this phone i really like it. Just a single question I have is, when on lock screen I press PIN code the whole screen brightness kinda flicker/brighten up on touch. Is it normal or its only me getting this? Also screen brightness varies while I use the phone!

Just go to superuser and hit the unroot button. Only stock kernel is available, no custom kernels around yet.

Long story short, I have a G950U that someone updated to bootloader 5. Would you believe that i've been using this Combination Rom for a week now because i have no choice, its' the only V5 firmware i can find.. i was messing with the phone and needed to Odin, but had no files. I never want to see a combination rom again, lol. What i did was install Chrome with adb and went from there.. Chrome is the only Google app that works that i've found. No Play Store, no mail, no Gboard. Some will work at first but will very quickly get laggy and unresponsive, it's great ? If you enjoy frustration. Trying to text with the included keyboard will be one of the most frustrating things anyone has ever done.........ever, lol. Nova launcher works with it, I'm guessing most launchers do work.
So I to go to other app stores. i've spent hours looking but can only find the S8+ V5.
Combination Rom Challenge: How long can you use it as a daily driver before you throw your phone off a bridge? lol.
This S8 has no service so it's not really a daily driver for me and i could't try the phone. Talkatone works over WiFi though, lol.
Download Chrome apk on a pc. Open adb and type "adb install" then drag and drop the apk into the window, lol. Thats the extent of my adb skills

This is why proper research and planning is required BEFORE any form of flashing is to take place on an s8 or s8+. It's so when you end up in this mess, you know how to get out of this mess. As of right now, you are sol until a v5 odin firmware is released.
ps. A factory reset might at least let you use the phone as intended.

I do know this. This was not my first time using Odin, or even my first G950U. Seeing the phone was already on Bootloader 5 and not rootable I had the bright idea of putting a password on it to see what I could do with it, I was just bored really The phone has no service and has not been turned on in a month or more. So it would not really be missed. The problem in the first place is a badly cracked screen so it's basically worthless to anyone with no interest in this stuff. I guess mission accomplished though, lol. Technically I got past frp and the lock screen.
