[Q] Note 3 demo live unit .Something called watermark on display and UI permanently - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello .Any advice would be useful.I`m new to this forum so thanks in advance for you help.My problem consists in :
I have a Samsung Note 3 demo live unit ,bought for mini tablet purpose few days ago.It had installed 4.3 on it and of course that awful retail mode when i bought it .I didn`t deactivate that retail mode ,i just proceeded for flashing a new rom ,the official kitkat ,next minutes after i bought it .after that the retail mode was gone ....i had some problems with the continuous reboot but after finding some interesting articles here on xda forum ,i solved that .It was that wireless option (allways on bug) that created the rebooting. But something still remains .I have some kind of a pic permanently on all the pages, programs, and the entire UI .....it`s like an add or banner. related to a campaign ,Samsung-Orange for autist children called, a world of happy faces....I think probably this note 3 was exposed in an Orange store along this campaign last months ...and had something installed on it .
Here is this campaign official site :
aworldofhappyfaces.com
I have a picture like that flower banner (which can be seen on that website ) permanently on my screen everrywhere.I heard it`s called a watermark.I`m not sure. But what i know It is that is stressing me deeply ,especialy when i try to use my spen in notes ,you can observe it better .It is also very pregnant on white and any other light colors as well.
I tried to find something related to it in all aplication manager ,anything to deactivate it ..but nothing present.Of course i tried factory reset, hard reset ,but didn`t help either. What can i do ?
It is possible that this thing to be somehow linked to this demo live motherboard or is it a software -hardware problem ,something implemented which isn`t intended to be removed.
Kind regards,
Catalin
ps:it gets more strange than this when i try to capture a screenshot ...on the screenshot that background banner can be observed but when i transfer it in my computer it isn`t there

Have you tried checking the screen for any film that might need peeling?

hello thanks for answering ........well in the first instance i didn`t check .earlier i did it ,and it doesn`t seem to have any film or screen protector ,sticker ,etc attached on the exterior of the display.I took a good look in all the corners ,tried with my nails to see if i can remove something which cannot be seen with the bare eye ,but it seems nothing like that is present here. And to be honest i never heard that a galaxy device to come with a built in film protector ....but given the fact this is a demo live ,it came into my mind that this thing could be possilbe.Anyway at this point i think there isn`t anything attached there. Is it somehow possible that the display itself to be manufactured especially for that campaign ?..with that dim sticker into it ...i mean something like a hardware characteristic! if i had any other display for note 3 i would have tried a short replacement to see if this is the problem ,but i dont`t have .
It is possilbe to be something beneath the glass ...between lcd and gorilla glass?

I know this is a old topic but I don't know if you had figured this one out.
The thing you are/were seeing is a burned logo in the display. Most probably the unit was stuck on that screen while playing demo videos in the store.
I work in a telecom store and I've seen them a lot.
Thought might be interesting to know this.

Hi, I tried it and I don't get waves. And I know from PC days I am quite capable of seeing flicker. I think what you are seeing looks like a video sync problem. What have you got installed? Maybe you need to check your graphics settings or perhaps Power Saving that may have altered the settings?

Video sync? Wait I see those waves by naked eyes. And did you tried it with full brightness? And no I haven't did any under clock.
Even with all stock I can see those waves

I may be using wrong terms. In the old CRT screens it was called sync - that's what your video reminded me of.
Have you tried JJ's suggestion of Factory Reset?
Also do you have anything installed other than how the phone came? If so, list the changes you made - you will probably get more responses if people don't have to ask 'did you do/have this?' and have you say, 'no I didn't' or 'already done that' - tell us what your phone has, what you have done, what conditions etc.
e.g. CF-Root, Omega JB Rom, All Power saving options on - anything you can think of including the ROM/Kernel versions
My phone. Is totally. Stocked (just rested all phones after not getting any replay {2 hours ago}. So my phone is all stocked.

The issues definitely look lie Vsync issues, though with the quality of the video you posted it's hard to tell. If you phone is now on a true stock rom with no root or anything, then it's likely a hardware fault. Take it back to where you purchased for a warranty repair, there's nothing else that will help you here I'm afraid.

[Q] White pixel line on the display - Others with the same problem?

Hello everyone,
and thanks in advance for your help.
I would like to ask if you have ever seen a problem like that in the attachment.
I bought the Samsung Galaxy S3 just few days ago and within the first hours of utilization I found this white line on the display.
It is persistent with software and hard reset of the device.
The only way that I've found till now is to remove the battery for some time ( half an hour ), but after few hours the problem's still present.
It seems related to the "cool down" of the device.
I'm already thinking to give it back in assistance but I'd like to have some feedback if others had already the same problem.
Thanks!
this is abnormal, you should replace it asap.
The screen is fault. Go and replace it (the phone) .

Give it back.
DO NOT use words like warranty!!!!
State that the sold to you unit is not filling up the conditions of sale agreement.
Rationale:
If you'll go back to shop and claim the warranty, you'll stuck for several weeks and on return you'll have repaired/refurbished unit.
If you'll return it on the base of discrepancy with the selling agreement claim (faulty unit sold) - shop duty is to replace it or give you your money back (at least in EU).
I think my phone since yesterday has the same problem of the OP. I tried several apps from Play Store (claiming they could fix display issues) but without results.
My phone is old less than a month and it's all stock (XXELLA) except root...I'll post a pic if I try to capture it on my old phone camera.
Anyone else recently encountered this? Thanks in advance.

I think I'll go to make it check from a tech at a service centre (pic of the display: dl.dropbox. com/u/6492926/SNC00344.jpg)
But I was wondering...If the screen is AMOLED and a pixel (or more) die, should it be black (turned-off)? Here you can notice that the broken pixel line is white, also lighter than a white screen. As a note, the line is NOT visible when the background is full black but visible in the other cases, resulting more when the background color is very light.
I'm a bit disappointed :S
I don't think that a line can be caused by a pixel or more. There is more a cable or something inside the screen (or motherboard?). It's impossible to have a full line fault because of pixels.
If your phone is less than a month old go to the store you bought it or call Samsung. They should replace it. Don't let tech opening a new phone. They are not fixing the phone as better as Samsung itself. Mine had a chop inside the screen and they replaced it after two weeks I bought it (I've seen the chop in park, watching the screen under sunlight). The store replaced the device with no questions.

Black background - green pixels

Hello!
Can somebody please check if they can also find green pixels on a black background with 100% brightness set up and no lighting in the room? You can use LCD-Test pro or other similar apps to get a fullscreen black background.
I'd like to return my phone for good, because I think I'm played for a fool. They said they replaced the display in service, and apparently they did because with the last display i could see at least 100 green pixels. Now they're like 6 or 7, but still, I suppose there shouldn't be any...
Just checked I have no green pixels on solid black in lcd test pro.

Thank you so much for checking.
Checked as well, no green pixels. Maybe they just "repaired" your LCD with a tool like LCD Test Pro? (Sorry if this is completely wrong, I'm a noob )
Was bit scared and checked mine too. found perfect with no such issue. its crystal clear in pitch black dark. also checked some screen tests in hidden menu. damn, why did I do it? lolz:silly:
Your is straight way hardware issue. Go get it replaced if in warranty.
And also complain here at LG Support Romania http://www.lg.com/ro/suport. Always kick asses from top-side. Sorry but I dont know how prompt the LG Support is at Romania.
EDIT: Not only 5/6 green dots, but there should not be any.
If they dont replace it or you are not heard... well what we can do?
I remember few years back, In India, a motorcycle owner was disappointed by company support about genuine fault in his new mobike, what did he do? He called news media and gave public hanging (symbolic death sentence) to his bike in public place, in front of hundreds of people and media. And ashamed company immediately gave him a new bike with apologies. ha ha ha. Well I dont know this can be done with phone. Or can we?

Just to enhance the previous investigation:mine also, no green pixels

I am a customer of Vodafone Romania for 10 years, but I bought this phone from Orange Romania because Vodafone didn't have it in their store. So, I sent the phone to Orange Service (three times), which apparently are far from being professionals. The guys from LG were very kind and told me they could fix it in an instant in their service, but in that case I would have had to pay for the shipping. Finnaly I gave up, I don't want anymore a new phone for the time being. I ended up hating a superb phone because of some jackasses.

keyboard issues and black spots, should I ask for a replacement?

I just got a galaxy s3 a week ago.. I have experienced a lag on the keyboard a couple of times and I was okay with it. But then last night I experienced this keyboard issue, whenever I press backspace the L is also being pressed and it is so annoying! I found a solution, which actually works, I clear the cache on Settings - Application manager - All - Samsung keyboard - Clear Cache
i hope this trick should work everytime my keyboard went nuts again.
in addition to this, I also have noticed black spots everytime i read my ebooks at night, on a night theme (black background white letters). I have read that this is not an isolated case as many of s3 users are experiencing this. It doesnt bother me much then but my fear is that it might turn noticeable like even in the white screen.
Since I still have a few days replacement warranty, should i ask for a replacement phone? will it worth my time and effort to get a replacement or there is still no assurance I wont be having the same problems like this anymore.
I am new to android, I have been a long time apple user. So far I am enjoying my use but if problems like this I might be considering going back to the boring OS and user interface of apple.

thank you for a quick reply.
actually that would be my last option as I am really enjoying the android experience.
honestly I can live with this issues as long as:
-black spots will not be visible on a white screen
-black spots will not multiply
-keyboard issues will always be fixed by the trick I posted up there
and I also wanted to know if a replacement phone will be an assurance that I will not experience same issues again.

Question Static/fluttery colors in animations for anyone else?

Hi,
Just got the phone yesterday and I'm completely in love with it, having upgraded from a OnePlus 3T.
However I have encountered a display issue I beleive. It's a bit difficult to explain but when animations are preformed on the screen, for example when pressing buttons in the settings, or when the wave animation that comes up when plugging in the phone for charging, the color in the animation looks like static on a TV (happens both in dark mode and light mode). I'll upload examples here since it's a bit difficult to explain like I said. Anyone else that has encountered this? Haven't found anyone with similar issues so far, or maybe it's supposed to be like this? Do you see this it like this when plugging in the phone for example as well?
Did factory resets, tried starting in SafeMode etc but no luck. ASUS support told me to contact my retailer since it's a brand new device.
Thank you!

Thank you for your reply! So the static-looking colors/theme in all the animations are intentional? If you also have the phone, does it look the same for you like it does in the videos I uploaded?
Sorry for all the questions, just want to be really sure before I contact the retailer

Yes, it is an Android 12 design choice made by google, as you can see in the article I linked, they had to reduce the effect because it was too strong during the first 2 beta versions. So if that is what you are talking about, do not worry its a design choice!
