The HOX+ Family Says GoodBye to Lloir - HTC One X+

For those of you who don't know yet, our number 1 developer is leaving us, not by his will, but sadly his phone is damaged beyond repair.
So, this thread is dedicated to him from the whole HOX+ family, to say we will miss you, and we thank you for everything you have done for us.
@Lloir you have been great, its been a pleasure testing your roms, and its been quite a ride.
Thank you for your hard work, and honestly I dont know what we could've done without you.
However, for the HOX+ family, don't feel like we are deserted, I am sure a lot of developers will rise within the community to help, one of whom is pippox who is still working upto this moment to help us.
Anyway, this thread is dedicated to @Lloir so you can say your thanks

not a very good time to be talking. ur lucky midget isnt around. you would of had a ban by now.
May I suggest MODERATION?
This doesn't means MODERATORS ,Moderation means no stupid suggestions ("ask to IRUS" to someone who downloaded the AP4 beta and he doesn't know it was "leaked"), or a 3d closed and opened a new one with the same name in few ours; banning, closing, strike, aren't MODERATION lesson, are extreme remedies!
All of us are skilled enought to re-register with a new name when banned and re-open a new thread when closed!
In a MODERATION model moderators acts BEFORE they have to strike or ban someone, or to close a 3d!
ATHENA forum haven't any moderator daily involved in forum's life, so we have to moderate by ourserves!
Angry places aren't nice places and is almost impossible to share tips and tricks. We are here to ENJOY and IMPROVE our devices !
Put some more smiley, don't take yourselves too seriosusly, don't take MYSELF too seriously to....
I concur Sergio.
Seems like the mood in athena forum has gone to hell in a hand basket within the last few days.
Where has the good mood and anticipation gone ?
Suddenly ppl r getting aggressive and harsh words and accusations are flying through the air.
I have always enjoyed the athena forum, seems like there was a certain level of maturity here and ppl were generally helpsome and nice. but seems like the mood has changes, and there seems to be a lot of new ppl posting here.
Please everyone, consider what you say, how you say it, and when.
and if what you want to say is decidedly negative... then you might consider not saying it at all.
The tone that is prevailing here these days is in my opinion nasty, and much of the fun and joy of reading has disapeared for me.
I mean, the rom might be delayed, so frigging what ??
Let the ppl that actually know what they are doing complete their work.
And let them have some time and space doing it. is it really a matter of life and death to flash today and risk bricking your phone ?
I sincerely hope that the tone in here changes, for all our sakes, flames used to be far between.
I for one is sick and tired of how things are atm.
peace.

I always enjoy posts from sergio. He's the voice of reason, and its fun translating what he posts.
Wasn't it nearly a day after Itxda requested the thread be closed before it actually happened? Did that solve anything? Of course not, but it did make a statement.
Personally, I think the AP team should have a thread in which ONLY they can post, without having a moderator repeatedly lock and unlock for them. Of course this would only work if they kept everyone updated once or twice a day. But what do I know?

Couldn't agree more. It would be nice if we respected each other as human beings just because (realizing maybe, that some of our members are younger--and this is how we behave in a public forum).
However, I feel extremely bad regarding the general tone taken toward those who have spent, and are spending, large amounts of time cooking roms for us. No they aren't perfect, but they deserve our support in every way, in whatever way we can: our encouragement, our technical skills, our donations, our encouragement, our patience, a little slack and respect is probably deserved for everyone in the athena project team . . . for pk1, 2 and 3 if for nothing else . . . and for every newbie question patiently answered for the 1000th time.
I think every person here should think about something they got here--rom, advice,whatever--and the person or persons who helped us out when we needed it and where we would all be if xda developers werent here.
Yeah guys, since some days spending my time by hitting F5
Reading poems and absurd post of people waiting
Now thing are changed
People insulting eachothers (why??)
Makes me really sad ...
Dunno you guys ... but at least I had some fun anyway by reading all those crazy post... makes this forum in any case a great place to be.
Thanks to all cookers for their job and to everyone who could at least show some courtesy (polite).
I don't want to thank in any case all people acting in such unpolite way and make all efforts to destroy everithing nice in this place!
The Kiddies Posting about AP4
Forum Title: Athena Project 4.0 coming, but needs...
Could the answer be ?
a) For certain members to grow up and wait. It will be released when it is ready
b) People to only post under one user name (thus not being chicken and posting under different names)
c) To be ready so that the same people that are *****ing about the delays aren't the same people *****ing when they brick their phones ?
d) For certain people to be more grateful to the people actually cooking the rom, as I don't see much coming from HTC
And the answer is... (the AP4 moaners can't figure it and they can't phone a friend as they don't have any)
ALL OF THE ABOVE
Here is a little suggestion, why not just chill out, stop posting stupid comments and just wait until the rom is ready.
Hi tbern,
don't be too serious - let's have some fun to bridge the time until AP4.0 is coming.
Just making some jokes or useless things is much better than asking like:
"Pawel, when does the rom come..."
or even to offend the team like already done by some people here...

I've been here to see all those great devs leave, and that's not even all of them. (though you still spend an awful lot of time here chad...time to troll-back the trolls?) I seem to always be at work when drama goes down, and by the time I catch up posts or entire threads are deleted.
just sayin.
Even before I bought my Evo 3D, I had checked out this section, and to be absolutely honest, I almost didn't bother getting one because of the amount of abuse being dished out in this sub-forum. People just asking questions getting jumped on and abused, without being repremanded. Just don't need it.
If the dev's got any of that attitude, I'm not really surprised. People 'should' be grateful that others put time and energy into software development, without any effort on their own part, dev's enable them to have fantastic features etc. The dev's don't owe you anything, so stop acting like they do. If you flash your phone that's your choice, don't expect help when you give the dev's a mouthful.. they have lives too, and they are not getting paid for it.
If you haven't got anything constructive to say, don't bother saying it
I'm very glad that guys like chad can ride out the negative crap, and realise that there are probably a lot of people that are very happy because of them

i ride it out cause there was a recent change of shooter forum moderators...
...but who knows when i will create a new thread here - i create custom kernels for other XDA developers who ask...and i have a thread at infectedrom.com
but my motivation to develop for phones other than my hw001 shooter = zero
my test6 kernel works on all 2.17 based roms on hw001 phones.. so why put effort into making it work on hw002 phones.. so other devs can call the gpl police cause they cant kang what i spent hours working on cause htc wont release source... and i wont either
Sorry, just asking as a newbie - there arent moderators on these forums to do their job and keep the drama in check?

As contributors and fellow members of the XDA community, moderators also feel the frustration of losing significant contributors. I posted the following message in another forum with ongoing drama and for the most part, the message applies to this situation as well.
There seems to be a significant amount of animosity that permeates throughout the Android related forums. I'm not certain as to why this is, nor do I want to hear any reason for justification; what I do know is that it is unacceptable.
As moderators, we spend more time cleaning up flame & troll posts than working on our own community contributions. Unfounded accusations such as KANG'ing serve to drive away those valued members who try to contribute to XDA ... further lowering the quality of threads and posts on this forum.
XDA is about bringing together folks who have similar passions about mobile technology. I would have expected more maturity and professionalism. Instead, I find a thread full of inflammatory posts ... it is not constructive and serves no purpose.
While the Forum Moderator(s) take time from their busy schedule to effect cleanup and "damage control"; further detracting of this thread once it is re-opened will result in permanent holidays for those involved, rest assured that appeals will be non-negotiable. I would encourage members who have posted in this thread to reacquaint themselves with the forum rules - the best moderation is self-moderation.

We need to wake up. Let's make xda better.

So, guys. We need to wake up. We need to stop asking for estimated time of arrive. We need to respect all the developers. Please read every posts before you posting. Please search before posting. We've lost many awesome developers. It's all because of you you guys keep asking for ETA and never search before posting question. When developers feel tired, then he just decide to leave XDA. XDA is a big family. Only respect between each other can help to maintain the peace. Every developers & members deserved to be respected.
Regarding the CM9 thread, guys. Stop asking about the ETA and 'IS CAMERA WORKING?'! We could lost the only unofficial CM9 development for Galaxy Ace because of that.
Regarding the AOKP thread, guys. Be nice to the developer. Although they made some mistakes. But we have to respect them too. They're human being, not GOD. They working on AOKP based on the CM9. The only AOKP development for Ace currently.
Furthermore, I want to apology to moderators and every members for my behavior. I know I made a mistake. I shouldn't post all those things. Once again, a truly apology to every members and moderators. Sorry.
Some of us made some threads like these last time .
Did they listen to us ? No . The noobishness got worse .
This was sent from a Galaxy Ace. Problem?
Excellent post sir. Your posts re moderator were very nasty and to be honest I'm a little surprised that he's allowed you to stay on xda. Your apology does however appear to be genuine and heart-felt. Regarding the noobs it's important that we guide, advise and assist them, not shout, swear and otherwise abuse what will, eventually, be the devs of the future. I trust that senior members will take the lead in this and stop moaning about noobs xda is not meant to be a closed shop and all new members should be made welcome.

As EmoBoiix3 said, this has been done. Imo people should stop trying to be a revolutionist and just do their part instead of telling others what to do. The only people who will take this to their hearts are those who have a bit decency, and those people are most likely not the "noobs" aka spammers. This kind of stuff are soon to be classified as spam.
It's not that hard to differentiate between genuine noobs (count the posts) and the habitual spammers. Report the spammers to moderator - I'm sure most would agree that so far he has been very fair and quite pro-active in handing out warnings by PM, giving general warnings on thread and being very willing to engage with members. It's his ot their job to police the site and ours to help keep it as clean as possible without totally stiflling comment and input. Also there is one section for Devs this section is everybody's.
Developers have no purpose without anyone to use their Mods and Roms etc.

Of course people are lazy. Three or more of the problems surrounding this thread have been posted about several times I note. Maybe the "search this thread" button needs more prominence and easier to use. Maybe repeat questioners should always be directed to search button? It's our xda can't we work to improve it rather than despairing?

Yep. I made a lot for Samsung Star (not android phone) without any code on my hand 2 years ago. I developed for LG OP, HTC on tiad and did a few things for galaxy 5. As it was in other forums my posts for some of you make me a noob right?
That's why I disagree on calling someone noob just because of the number of posts... And also treating noobs in a bad way because they make the same mistake all of us have made: not searching.
We should just provide a kind answer and invite them to use the searchbar instead of kicking them out.

Although I don't have an android phone

Hi everybody,
From the title it is obvious that I don't have android phone but I am big fan of Android:good: and i am planning to be buy one.
I am newly member of this great forum and I have noticed the great work of the Developers and who they dedicate in helping others even the newbies :highfive: without Forcing anybody to pay (just donate if you want)
I opened this thread Just to say Thank you to every developer and anyone helps others I wish that I could donate for you but still paypal service not available yet in my country so Thanks is the least thing that i should do.
I hope that I didn't bother anybody.
IBTL. There's a thread in the Off-Topic section to introduce yourself to everyone. Welcome to the site.

A word to all xda members

I remember a time when people were helpful on XDA. They would share knowledge, help others who know less. Unfortunately, those days are long gone.
I have referred many friends and acquaintances to XDA Developers, telling them there are many very experienced guys - and girls - who are happy to help you... It gives many of them the experience they need.
But a number of these people would tell me that the people on XDA are, basically, jerks! Rather than complain along with others, I hope to get through to at least one of you.
XDA began as a site where anyone with a specific handheld device could ask any question in order to get help...with any problem they would encounter. It grew and added other devices. Now XDA has become the most reputable go-to site for help with any kind of phone. If anyone knows anything about phones they know XDA Developers.
Guys, this should not be a place to show-off, or to be rude or intimidating. Often, there are people with questions, or need help, advice...and they don't know anything. These are the people who need help the most. Your help. Please treat people the way YOU would want to be treated when YOU did not know anything at all. That is all I ask.
Thank you.
If you ask nicely, in the right place, you'll get an answer.
The problem is when people come demanding this or that, being rude and asking questions in the wrong places.
Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk
my expirience is i been in 2 phone sections the skyrocket galaxy s2 and the lg g2.
in the s2 there were very helpful but when i came here i notice the same thing rather then getting help you get unnecessary post or answers.. or making fun of you or beign smartasses.. ive had a few arguments with some guys in here so they know who they are
the way i think is teach someone that someone will teach another, we are all different some will get it, and to some will be more difficult. instead ofa bogus post why not share link or type a helpful post.. then if you aint helping why post at all just ignore and go on with life..

As a moderator and very active member of this community I see a lot. There are threads that I participate in as a member and those are the most friendly, helpful threads. I am actually shocked at the helpfulness and politeness in spite of the fact that people asking the questions failed to read as close as 2 posts above which had their answer. More and more members have joined this community and do not want to read even the basic requirement of the OP of the thread before they attempt to modify their $600 device. Too many members want an answer NAO without having to go to the trouble of reading or searching a little. The very first rule asks all members who join to search first. When I joined in 2010, I read for a month before making my first post. XDA was not a help desk then. It was a place to share knowledge. This is two very different things. People who genuinely want help, how to theme, how to change something, how to know how to adjust a kernel and figure out the best setting for themselves...those people usually get the help they need. But people that refuse to read, expecting the members of the thread to do it for them...then ask a question in a development thread like "Do I need root for this?" Then proceed to ask to be spoon fed how to do it? This probably will annoy some members that have done a little reading. So yes, the site has changed...you can expect that with going from a million members in 2010 to 7 million now. And on the other hand we do have rules regarding member conduct as well, and members should respect the new members and guide them..make this the site they want it to be and once was. I understand what you are saying but I also see many sides of this. I see new members being rude, demanding answers, expecting someone to answer within an hour of their question, as well as the other side of someone rudely stating "Search!". So it is not just one sided. Unfortunately I see this as a sign of what society in general is becoming as we overpopulate this poor ball of dirt hurtling through space.
Thank you, KennyG123. I cannot disagree with anything you stated. In fact, it reminds me that I forgot to mention to new members that they be polite, also. I cannot help but to agree with you 100%. We all need a little reminder sometimes. So I hope that someone...anyone reads this and think about how they treat others. I need it, too!
Again, Thank you, KennyG123.
This thread should be a sticky
Enjoyed this thoroughly.
Been on since my little Frodo Sony Xperia mini x10i (what a name) and right here are the two sides of coin.
When I came on I knew nothing - and asked some dumb questions, and did the searches etc.
Many of those searches came back with stuff I could not understand. And some of the people reproducing this info were jerks - concerned only with obfuscation and an invitation to pm.
However, people were not rude, so eventually you find someone same level or a little higher and you're off.
Then suddenly the nicest thing happens - someone asks for help...and you CAN help. You recognise yourself and step in and it's good - EVEN IF just to remind them that the answer is on the page before, and sometimes searching first will help. And this without the eye-rolling condescension...you all know what I mean.
I too have referred people here, impressed with my 'knowledge', and I'm like, no, look, it's this great community of people......and then have them come back all discouraged and they may as well just stick to whatever the corporations foist on them.
Then on the other hand, a couple of years ago I noticed a proliferating of the other kind of jerk - you know them also.
Badgering the creator of a post for eta's with funny emoticons, I just cant wait, are we there yet, huh, are we there yet, and by the way do you think we'll be getting Smartie for our phones, and over on the 'other' device, they've got the code to overlay on Marshmallow to port to Smartie, their phones are so much better, and more whining, and maybe YOU can do the port, and are we there yet, I'll check back in an hour, and oh ya, how do I root yadiyada - there's a stickie, first post by the way.
That also is plain rude. There's a community, find out a little about it first, or read the phone manual at least.
For both instances I find one thing; real XDAers do not snap at people, don't jeez I wish you'd read something first, aren't put off by being referred to search either, won't make anyone feel like they're time here has been wasted, nor that anyone else is dumb, they've all been there.
These are the fakers, and posers, and always, ALWAYS, at the centre of some flame war.
Of course sometimes you want to voice your opinion on something and read others too so over-moderation kills the fun. There can be discretion, and it is clear when a discussion has gone from heated to just plain chest thumping - step away.
So, you know, use common sense.
Finally, just one more thing, I learnt good moderators are actually very helpful...For anything.
Pm something. They'll point you somewhere, guaranteed. Let them know if you feel like you're being bullied WITH A LINK to where this is happening and they'll show up and clean up the thread and keep safe. Though look, if YOU are the one stirring stuff up and then reporting, that too will be seen, and in my experience, that's looked at as a worse offence than just not searching first, so be sure.
Something HAS happened to the entire world of social internet that I find reprehensible. People have become rude simply because it makes them feel better to put someone else down in style.
I don't know when it happened exactly - and it's everywhere, Reddit, Facebook, wherever.
At XDA we can at least keep reminding people to just have a good time and don't be rude. Do whatever you like; research and grow or ask stupid questions, just don't be rude. We care about everyone on here.
We actually do.

actually wasn't the guise under which XDA was created. It was a site by developers for developers. There were many times when a Dev would tell people to F off but by in large (as it is today) many were willing to share their knowledge.

Guys, this should not be a place to show-off, or to be rude or intimidating.

We simply call this group the entitled.. Ask them, they will tell you it is so:silly:
A big change implemented a few years ago on XDA, came about with this small group in mind. We call it the report system (explained here):good:
While we like to see this behemoth (XDA) run like a well oiled machine, there will always be a wrench thrown into the cog. We (moderators/admin of XDA) ask that you NOT let yourselves get dragged into the battle of wills. A simple report with a simple explanation (in said report) usually lets us deal with a situation with little, to no drama left behind in its wake.

Please treat people the way YOU would want to be treated when YOU did not know anything at all. That is all I ask.

Cheers to that mate:good:
As membership continues to grow we can only hope that the few that read this remember why we are all here, to share and help others with what you know.
I have been "crying" to XDA for a number of years for help. I always got the help I needed. Most important, I got an education. There is more knowledge here on XDA than I could ever absorb! The hardest part was learning to search. But once I got over that hump I felt... Powerful!!
And I need to remind myself to be understanding, patient, respectful. You guys are right. It ain't easy sometimes. But XDA is a learning experience.
You guys are a good and knowledgeable bunch. Thanks. For everything.
I honestly feel this dependence on the question. I usually just look at topics rather then post in them, and I can see some people ask a certian question that other people regret as nubish, so suddenly they have "Nub mode" on. I just want them to remember that they, once upon a time were these so called noobs too.
Obviously this is not true about the majority of the people, just some.
Move this thread to "android general" or something, its useless to have it here
A short and good note mate ! but why here ?
Thanks for bringing this up.

I assume the OP has a G2 and felt he would like to post his opinion on the subject in his general section.
This is fine:good:

No problem Mr. Stark !

I don't know why but I really miss 2010 to 2012 gingerbread days
OP is right. I think this situation becomes because of release xda themes after 2010 version. I'am using 2010 theme and I think after 2010 themes are very compilcated and makes users nerveous and this is the reason why anyone not want to be help each other.

Thats funny, I came here in 2013 and I think that theme's the best and everything else is complicated. I miss the kitkat days.

I can't remember ever being flamed for making a noob question. One of my first posts on this site was a silly question in a dev thread and the developer (LenAsh) just answered it respectfully. Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones but my noobishness was only ever met with kindness and help.
I don't think I've experienced any rudeness when I've (albeit rarely) asked any questions since I started my Android journey in early-mid 2014. Before that I was an iOS guy, before that a Final Fantasy XI guy (MMORPG, was a moderator for a while of one of the biggest FFXI websites created by my best friend), and so on and so on. All forums that are a bit on the nerdy/technical/gadgets side have a problem with rude people. Lest we not forget the adage that the delightful guys at Penny Arcade put into a perfect cartoon: regular person + anonymity (sometimes)= bag of douche.
Having been a moderator I understand the frustration occasionally felt by @KennyG123 and @TonyStark. Why are some people such freakin jerks, yet others will type the same thing 10,000 times just to feel like they've helped 10,000 people. Why do some people read and search and learn first for a while before asking anything, yet others will ask (and almost demand) to have their hand held at every. single. step.? Maybe it's human nature?
I'm all about helping and being nice. Online and off.
people tend to ask first read later or no read at all.
they just want to post the question then go and do their own thing, come back later to see the answer.
while the thread starter wasted their own time to type the multiple posts of information/FAQ.
and last, this post should not be in this section as this is not even android related.
you post the wrong question in the wrong section and you still hope to get an answer?
I've been on the HTC wildfire, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 2013, Nexus 9 and LG G2 threads and have always found the other XDA members to be most helpful, (even though I'm not a flashaholic.)
However, I do make sure to search before asking questions and can therefore understand the frustration of answering questions that have been asked many times before.
So true but it seems out side of the G2 forums, there are still good people.
I had a good experience in the nexus 6 forums, never once got asked to "search before asking" best part of it is that I don't even have a N6 and the question I asked was actually illegal/criminal, I didn't know that at the time and those members explained in detail why it was illegal without bring disrespectful to me.
I honestly blame mods for not being strict enough.
I brought up a few specific xda members that were out right harassing people and I presented my case with evidence of repeated harassment.
The mod told me that I was over reacting. I said that by not doing anything about it they were condoning the action.
I wanted to strangle that mod, completely worthless. Police that don't enforce.
If the mods would start banning the few that are bringing xda down, then the problem would be solved.
But they won't do anything!
Mods have their work cut out for them here and I know they are doing the best they can, but it's not focused correctly to rectify the problem.
