If you like Alliance and have a locked bootloader like me, do this to get at least so - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

If you like Alliance and have a locked bootloader like me, do this to get at least some of the look and feel.
It took while to figure out how to get some of the fetures that both the Aliance build 25 and the blacked out theme of Trents awsome rom combined had i them onto my phone without having to download the roms. Since I am one of the unlucky ones that lost my unlocked status when my phone updated.
I like the feature of being able to put a custom backgroud on my dropdown for my notification drawer and found that if you install gravity box you can do the same thing, or close to it. This module is one of three that will give you some really custom ro looks without having toflash a custom rom.
The other one is Wanam. This module will give you some more customizations to your status bar and notifications bar.
And the last but not least is HKThemer. I used the theme called: Mixerics, these themes can be found if you do a search for HK themes on google and follow the links in the XDA thread that google search will find for you. This is the theme thaat is the closest one to the way Trents rom looks with the blacked out google play store and a lot ofother blacked out apps.its really an awsom theme if you like the look of trents rom.
You willhave to instal Xposed innstaller on you phone and you have to have root for thaat too but this is all very easy to do.
I am going to post a couple of screen shots showing google now blacked out and the playstore blacked out along with home screen and notification dropdown . I hope this helpssomeone else out who is stuck in the land of unflashing which sucks. Well i am not permited to upload the screenshots so if you ask me forthem I will be happy to send them to you.

If you have some really cool mods that help a stock rom look and feel more like a custom rom please share.

Im also working on the stock 3.1 look now ill see how it turns you.
Does this mess up the user agent string mod when you flash it?

Its really easy, they are actually in the zip already, all you have to do is rename the images.

It doesn't.
OP, there's a ~1 pixel tall border that's lighter in color that you can see whenever the screen displays something dark (like the screen where you can select widgets, shortcuts, wallpaper...), can that border be changed to black also? Or did Honeycomb 3.1 have that also?

Stock had a similar look to it, with the gray border if you want me to make you one with all black let me know. Just send me a pm I have the stock look done atm but i don't like how the screen shot icon looks. I should have a stock look up in a few hours.
Works well with my bonsai rom, thanks a lot

OP, the issue with a gray background behind icons extends to icons other than debugging. Right now, my notification bar icons for CopyPasteIt (clipboard icon) and Google Music Beta (headphones icon) both have gray backgrounds on the black bar.
Isn't there a way to make any and all icons show black backgrounds?? There's no way you can keep up with every single icon and keep editing to fix the issue..there are unlimited icons that may show up there for apps..
Is it possible to eliminate this issue for all icons?
The icon pack is about half done I am at work right now so Ill do more when i get home, but should be done soon.
thanks for this significant work. the original grey bar really is annoying.

Transparent status bar theme

I'm on the quarx 2.16 nightly and was wondering if there's a theme out there that just makes the standard system theme have a transparent status bar (and maybe notification pull down too?)
I tried Orion theme, but don't like the miui style notification area. Is there a way to only use the status bar, but noneof the other mods (like icons, skinned dialer, etc.)?
I kinda like the simple system theme.
Thanks

Simply put no! Downloading a custom Rom is the only option @ this time.
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
GoLauncherEx have that option, and it's a very nice launcher.
I don't know if there is a theme that does that, :/
Quarx added that feature to his nightlies, and the Orion theme and others w/ transparent status bars work. I'm just wondering if there's a theme out there that has the transparency, but not too many other drastic changes to the look and feel.

I'm pretty sure that a quick search on xda would have bring you some answers on this...but anyway..Read the second post of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1448310
It might look long and complicated but itsn't so; it only takes 3-4 minutes to do after you've done it once...
On the first post there I even gave a transparent theme that I've moded.
Read all: pretty much every themes for cm7 can be made transparent but not every launchers support them and they might also require additional quick settings.
Cheers

Thanks,
I had read that post, but i didn't make it allthe way to the bottom, where i guess the answer i'm looking for is located. sorry. I guess I stopped reading, becasue i tought it would only work on the nightly you mentioned in the post. I was glad Quarx included the ability to have a transparent status bar, so i wasn't sure if changing all those files would be necessary.
I guess I'll get to work, figuring out which combo makes a good semi-transparent status bar. I wish there was a setting to control that (and notification area also?)
Yet another project making me step deeper into the world of Android. To think that when i got my defy (my first and only smartphone) i had no intention of rooting or anything. I guess that's what happens when the phone doesn't work well to begin w/
You can have a look here to get an idea on what to expect.
You know that an apk is basically a zip file right? So you could also get the 4 files with modified opacity (transparency) from my theme there and replace them in the SystemUI.apk of the nightly build you are using.
The only 'tricky' part in all this is to replace that SystemUI.apk on the system once those files are changed [and that you've used baksmali/smali to edit that 1 line in the statusbar.service file]. But really not a big deal with Terminal if you follow my instructions.
Lastly, I'd also suggest you to try Maniac103's latest nightly (Feb20th) because he fixed quite a few things lately and [to save you some work] I've already gave a CWM zip patch with transparency for it here - but read on there, I included 1 or 2 additional things in it like a different font... If just you just want transparency; you can pull the SystemUI.apk from the patch and use Terminal again to replace it on your phone.
EDIT: sorry! I just remembered that the patch doesn't contain those 4 modded png; only the one line change. So my theme would have transparency but not CM7 themes or others [without changing png anyway].
Anyhow: such a long answer...but if all that helped you in anyway -which I hope-, you can click that "Thanks" button
Cheers.

The Ultimate Theming Page!

Hello everyone, and thanks for clicking on my post I'm a relatively new poster around here, but I've lurked these forums ever since I've been using Android. Now, I want to create this into a repository for theming. Not simple homescreens with some derpy GO Launcher EX themes or something you found on MyColorScreen, No. I'm talking about actual hardcore theming. Please read on!
Also, check out my LOCKED BOOTLOADER MODS REPOSITORY HERE, Thanks
POST YOUR RESULTS!
PART 1:
Pre-Requisites:
-A Phone. If you don't have one, I don't know why you're here.
-Root. Okay, well technically you don't need it, but in order to get the full effect you should have it.
-CWM/TWRP Recovery. In case anything goes wrong.
-CREATIVITY. This is important, the designers of the Japanese flag lacked this one.
PART 2:
Okay, so first off, we need to get a LAUNCHER. For those who don't know, a launcher is an application that changes the way your homescreen and app drawer functions, and can introduce new theming capabilities.
I recommend one of the following:
-Nova Launcher (Most popular)
-Apex Launcher (Changeable Fonts)
-Holo Launcher HD (Less RAM usage)
-GO Launcher EX or Launcher Pro (LOL JUST KIDDING)
PART 3:
Set up your homescreen the way you like it, I prefer one screen with my Music/Whatsapp/PlayStore/Duolingo/Spanish/Translate, with a Google Now widget at the top. I use the 3 language things because I'm increasing my Spanish vocabulary. Estoy aprendiendo Espanol(; Anyways, once you've got it how you like it, get a wallpaper that will fit the general color scheme of what you're trying to accomplish. Don't pick some stupid Batman wallpaper if you're making a Hello Kitty theme. Now you're probably bored, so here's where the real magic starts...
PART 4:
DOWNLOAD GO LAUNCHER EX IT'S THE BEST RAWWWR.
PART 5:
I was kidding. That thing sucks lmao. xD Anyways, download Xposed Framework Installer, and then download XThemeEngine. This is where you need root. This is going to allow you to modify your status bar and some system icons, without needing a custom ROM such as CyangogenMod, AOKP, MIUI, PACMAN, iOS (Wait what?)
Download Xposed Installer HERE
Download XThemeEngine HERE
Now, launch Xposed Installer and grant root access blah blah blah and CLICK ON "INSTALL/UPDATE!" Good job! If you just bricked your phone, it is totally my fault! Because I touched the button for you and decided against my own gut that this is risky and still did it so yes it's TOTALLY MY FAULT! Sarcasm. Everything will be fine, if it isnt, you have CWM and a brain. Okay, next, go to the MODULES tab and enable "XThemeEngine" and then tap it to launch it. Grant it root and choose the theme you want. You might be thinking, "HERHER DERRRRR I DON'T HAVE A THEME [email protected][email protected][email protected]" Well, I'm getting there. Basically, we can port any theme for CM, etc. to our phones using the method the creator described in his thread. I won't get into that. Instead, I'll leave you with some links to some themes Because I'm just a generally likable guy.
Xposed Framework

PART 6:
THE FINAL PRODUCT.
Homescreen Preview. That Google Now Widget... Sabroso(;
Notifications Preview. See that WiFi indicator? It's a crown(;

SOME HELP
-Not all status bar icons change. Well gee, you can't ask for everything can you? Pick a blue theme if you want a nice blending. It seems as if it's only the Network Signal and the Clock that don't change though.
-Not all the settings menus change too! Seriously? Deal with it.
-My phone's broken. Wow, that really sucks doesn't it? Kidding. PM me and I'll fix you up, or check out cmahendra's offline KDZ flash if it's that bad.
-I accidentally downloaded GO Launcher EX, HELP THIS SUCKS. Well, if you want your phone to stay pure, you ought to throw it at the sidewalk and get a new one. That launcher is hideous and gross, your phone will hate you forever now. If you're okay with that, find the uninstall button. Oh, what's that? You can't find the uninstall button? Find a CWM image for a phone that isn't yours and flash it. That'll get rid of it!(; Please don't do that.
-I hate you. That's alright, I can live with that.
-I WANNA REMOVE THESE THEMES WAH. Go into the XThemeManager and choose stock theme, or uninstall the XposedFramwork completely.

Looks pretty slick I see they got Mixer, I did enjoy that theme while on Cyanogenmod maybe check it out, thanks for the leg work.
Just put Mixer on and it's nice some of the stuff is off but then again this isn't a deodexed rom so it's pretty awesome none the less may try something else but I am enjoying the possibilities here, thanks again for sharing this.
Edit - again thanks for this but everything is slightly off so I'll stick stock, it's a cool idea but just not for me, thanks, also noted a bit of a slow down with it.

Wow, thanks for being open to new genres. (; Anyways, check out "Xposed Status Bar Mods." Just google it and find the page here on xda. @ the mods, my apologies if this screenshot is violating XDA rules, if I have to remove it I will.
This is my favorite theme setup
I'll post what I used to get it looking this way soon, just kinda preoccupied at the moment.
Edit: Okay this is a pretty simple setup, just follow my instructions.
1.) What is needed:
- Xposed Franework
- App Settings module for Xposed Framework
- UCCW
- Beeping Weather (UCCW skin)
- Bar line UCCW (not my work, I honestly forgot where I had found it but I have the original theme zip for it)
- Simple Metro Mirrored White icon pack
- FLATRON CM10 theme
- Stock Analog Clock (themed with FLATRON)
- PowerAmp Pro, with Minimalist skin
- Patience
2.) Activate navbar with this build.prop tweak:
# Navbar control (0=on,1=off)
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
3.) Pick out whatever wallpaper you like
-----------------------------------------
Now comes the most time consuming part of the process.
Install Xposed Framework, and install the framework itself, then reboot.
Install App Settings module for Xposed, then reboot.
Set this dpi value in App Settings for said app: Apex Launcher - 180dpi
Open Apex Settings, go to Homescreen Settings and set the layout size to 7x7
In Behaviour Settings disable auto rotate
Now you may proceed to setting up the icon shortcuts
Phone/Browser/Messaging/App Drawer/Camera/Gallery/Apollo
Make sure you have the Simple Metro Mirrored White icon pack and have it in your sdcard placed wherever you wish to place it. Choose those icons for each apps individually.
If you have purchased PowerAmp Pro, set the 4x2 size widget and choose minimal style (white text)
Start placing the rest of the widgets in place and resize them properly to fit neatly where they belong.
Download BarLine V2 UCCW skin, which you'll most likely find on XDA in some thread with minimal screenshots.
By the way those widgets are all UCCW, except for PowerAmp Pro
Set whatever wallpaper you desire
I guess reboot to finalize everything. Let me know how it goes, my bad it took so long to get back to you on this, hopefully you enjoy using this setup as much as I do
Let me know how it goes.

[Theming][Guide][ME7] Using XposedInstaller and then some

First, I know all of this is mentioned in various areas of the forum. All I am doing is putting the process for using Xposed in one place.
This process definitely works on rooted ME7 Stock or Custom ROM's.
Requirements to do what I am showing below:
Rooted
XposedInstaller - Link
XQuickSettingsToggles - Link
XThemeEngine_beta5 - Link
GunmetalCobalt and other themes - Link
Wanam xPosed for mods like hiding battery - Link
1 and 2 are mandatory.
3 is required for the quick settings themes
4 is required to install themes such as 5. Gunmetal Cobalt which I uses as a base
6 if you want a wide variety of tweaks like colors of icons, hide battery, etc.
XposedInstaller
So, to get started you must first install XposedInstaller so follow these instructions or the ones on that thread.
Download and install apk like any other application with your favorite file manager
Reboot
Open Xposedinstaller and tap install/update to install the framework
Reboot
XThemeEngine:
Install apk just like any other application with your favorite file manager
Open xposedinstaller from applications and go to modules and enable xThemeEngine
Reboot
Install the theme of your choice. I used Gunmetal Cobalt
Install apk like any other application with your favorite file manager
Open xThemeEngine from applications
Choose theme
Apply theme
Reboot when prompted
If it does not look right do a full reboot
If signal bars don't theme use Wanam and change signal bars to 4
Optional: XQuickSettingsToggles
Download and install apk like any other application with your favorite file manager
Reboot
Open xposedinstaller from applications and go to modules and enable XQuickSettingsToggles in modules
Reboot
Go into XQuicksettingsToggles and choose a theme. I like Kalagas.
Optional: The clock is HD Widgets from market
NOTE1: If you don't get network immediately on boot then it is probably Wanam (???) so either wait or just reboot immediately.
NOTE2: Also best to use the power button reboot rather than the one in each app.
Enjoy
That setup looks a lot like business sense

So installed the XTheme and the XQuick settings .. Quick settings appeared to work fine, but no matter what I did I couldn't get the theme to apply entirely to the status bar (Cobaltx). How did you get it to theme the whole thing? Did it just work for you?

Post a screenshot so I can see what's missing
I used Wanam to change some options on the statusbar like hiding the battery icon which can make a difference.

I'll try a reinstall and see what I get. It was the battery icon, signal bars, and wifi bars that didn't work.

You may also need Wanam to change signal bars to 4 with cobalt
I tried this per the OP and GunMetalCobalt theme and it sorta made my Gmail and new messages titles un-distinguished and hard to decipher.
Also, the quick Settings tweak (assuming that's how you get the colors, ect... at the top of the notifications Pulldown, did nothing for me.

I don't use g-mail so I didn't notice
You need to go into xQuicksettingsToggles app and pick the theme you like. I am using Kalagas

Here's an example, I switched to plain Cobalt but it's doing the same thing:
Also I tried xQuicksettings Toggles with setting theme as Kalagas but doesn't seem to change anything in the dropdown.

I would post in the Cobalt thread that there is a problem with the G-Mail theming.
Did you select enable at the top of thexQuicksettings setup screen?
Well as soon as I root this thing I will give this a try.
Im a theme junky for sure
Thanks for the step by step
I'm having an issue with the XTheme Engine where it only seems to be theming Icons. I downloaded a theme called Chromium from one of the theme threads here and the screenshot shows it theming almost the entire UI (Settings, Notification Panel, etc.) but I can not seem to get any of those changes to take effect by re-applying/rebooting etc.

Not all themes are going to work correctly unless the are specifically ported for TW and even then not all will work.
The Cobalt series seem to work best for me anyway when I also use Wanam

It was found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251952 which seems to provide only XTheme Engine themes.
Edit: I tried "Cobalt Gunmetal" from the first post with the same results. It themes a few of the status bar icons and some portions of the notification center and that is it.

Did you install Wanam and change the signals to 4. That will at least add the signal bars
Which others are not themed?
Sorry for off topic, but did your replacement s4 end up coming with mdk or me7?

My luck it was ME7. Gonna wait and try again
On the other hand I don't like to abuse exchanges and with the arrival of safestrap it may be good enough to move forward.

[Q] LG G3 (Sprint) - Looking for Glass Status Bar Icons

I'm looking for an icon pack or rom that has glass-style status bar icons. I've searched high and low here at XDA and not found what I am looking for. I am using G3TB, so it would have to play nice with that. I thought there were icon packs that integrated with G3TB, but I haven't figured that out, yet.
Anyone have any ideas that might come close to what I am searching for? I've seen them in non-G3 roms - blue and silver with a glass look to them or very shiny-like.
Thanks in advance for any help...
Slow forum, I guess.
I think I have found what wanted. Purple Kush in the play store seems to have them, but they're embedded in a CM ROM.
I'd love to download one of those ROMs, but it seems they're universally flawed with either data, bluetooth, sms broken or whatnot.
I'm using cm12.1 on my g3 so far its working perfect BT WiFi data and service only thing I have not tested is NFC I used twrp non bumped I don't know but I think the bumped system of recovery may be the cause of some of the issues because cyanogen is working great and themes are also working great only problem was developers options I didn't know how to turn my root back on it took two minutes to figure out Goodluck on finding a theme... Themes are why I choose cyanogen... Built with tons of options......
