X-Vibe Rom - Lenovo P780

I noticed poor gps locking and until i got the GPS Status & Toolbox app I wasn't even able to get a lock in at all, I then followed
Xenova's GPS Fixing Guide and noticed that my gps.conf file is not even in the /etc folder, instead its in the root folder of my sd card and there is no SuplRootCert file either, any explanation and help would be appreciated, im going overseas and swithed from an iPhone where gps lock ins were close to instant and even worked overseas with no issues and i would like to get the same GPS performance on android, it seems my phone doesn't update its AGPS data automatically either, I am not sure whether I am supposed to manually put the gps.conf file in the /etc folder or if this rom reads it from the sd card, either way my gps performance is not as good as on other roms for sure so any help with getting it to work properly would be appreciated.

UK Postcodes for TOMTOM 6

HELP!
I have just installed the above on my XDAii.
Nearly everything works fine BUT I cannot get it to work on a seven digit uk postcode!
I have had a look at various threads on the forums and have tried putting the Greta_britian.postal file into the ZIP folder on my SD card and creating a folder named TOMTOM on the root of my SD card but it still does not give me a chance to enter a full seven digit postcode only the first three digits i.e. NG2.
Any ideas please
I have the same trouble!!! Whats with that?
Put the zip folder in program files/navigator and they will work. Took me a little messing to work it out, but also you may find that tomtom6 is a little heavy for the xda2 and will keep freezing requiring hard reset every time. Go to version 5.21

Hi there! YOu got this one sorted or still having probs? RSVP Steve
if you have bluetooth folders enabled, tomtom can't see the "ZIP" postcode folder on the storage card or the VOICES folder on the storage card. You can either copy the "ZIP" folder into the Navigator folder in main memory or you can disable Bluetooth Folders (start, settings connections, bluetooth, ftp)

It's running smoothly on my Hima WM6. And I don't have v5.21
My mate got it working on mine. It had something to putting blank directory on the storage card called tom tom, just something as simple as that.
Try googling it as Im sure it will appear in another forum somewhere

tomtom7 installation hangs

HI everyone I am having a major problem with the tomtom7 install it simply hangs right from the start as it displays the progress bar which never moves it just hangs there. I have been working with another user in detail to help he has given me his exact process and files from his working setup but it only gets to the exact same spot
I have tried on two separate sd cards one a lexar 4g card the other a sandisk 16G. I put a raster folder and a voices folder to the root of the storage card and I also place the cab TTN7.450.9028 and then execute the cab from ctotal commander or file explorer. I have tried installing to both the card and the phone with the exact same result I have tried with an RRE ROM and now with EnergyROM3.0 under windows Mobile 6.5 professional I saw a posting elsewhere on XDA about the same thing but it simply said install from a working platform and then it said it was resolved but never mentioned anything about how it was resolved.
I am a noob so I may have missed something basic
currently I don;t think my gps is enabled on my account I wanted to get TT7 installed and then turn it on I have already gone through my 30 day trial but that shouldn't affect the install my radio version is 1.11.25.01 but again I do not know if this would affect the install
Any ideas would be helpful at this point
Check you PM
Just keep waiting for it. TT7 takes forever to install or show some initial progress. I usually plug power in so the phone will stay on, otherwise you just have to keep the screen on for it to install.

[Q] Video Deleted Issue with VEGAN ROM?

- I've been experienced video files (mkv, avi) in sdcard2 get deleted using Vegan Rom version beta4 & beta5.1. Some others also have same issue while using Vegan rom.
- I've added ".nomedia" file to sdcard2 as suggested but to no avail (video still get deleted).
Anyone know of a way to fix this issue?
Any info is greatly appreciated.
Happy New Year to all !!!
Same issue..... Never had this problem until flashed VEGan Beta 5....
Happens everytime I reboot the Tablet...
Yup, same happened here. It didnt' happen on the first few boot ups but this morning when I booted all the video and picture files were gone from my /sdcard2.
In the few Android years, I have never heard of that happening on a device. Is the actual file missing from the card if you pull the card out and use a reader direct with the computer? Seems it would be more an indexing issue native to the Gtablet and not the card itself. If the files are being deleted, that takes some direct I/O effort. Random file corruption would not just be exclusive to media files.
99% likely the root cause is that the Advent Vega rom does not have two storage locations and only one. This may be causing some conflicts that the devs have not picked up on yet. Still, how would it delete files?
Questions on missing files (assuming they are gone, even when pulling the card and reading card with computer):
1. Is it files that were transferred via the Vegan interface?
2. Were the files directly transferred to the card via computer and ZERO interaction with Gtablet (besides trying to view them)?
If 1, this suggests index issues and conflicts due to storage issue mentioned above.
If 2, and the files were not moved at all by the interface of Vegan, that is uncharted territory (for me).

Files transfered using pc to usb interface with zero interaction with G-tablet. They were all retained with TnT-Lite before flash to Vegan B5.1.
suggestion to windows users on .nomedia file solution
I've had thing file on the root of my microSD for week now, with no issues yet - I lost all my videos prior to that, and it was due to the TnT 3.x kernel I suspect. It manifested itself fairly quickly. Before that, I'm pretty sure I used to have this issue on /sdcard, but most of my videos were on /sdcard2 so I kind of ignored it.
If you are a Windows user.....
If you are creating this ".nomedia" file from scratch in notepad, it will add a .txt extension by default. I remember this from my days in XP and I just fired up a Windows 7 VM to test this and it added that stinkin' extension. You won't even see the extension in Explorer, but it's there.
Here's a test, for Windows users ..... go into the command prompt, go to the drive where that file exists and check the file. If there's a .txt extension, you'll see it there. And, if there's an extension, it's not going to work - you need to remove it.
In Explorer, I don't think you can rename it without making extensions viewable - the easiest way is to use the command line:
Code:
ren .nomedia.txt .nomedia
Reloading my SDcard2 Now .... also renamed .nomedia thru, dos box to get true file name ext.
Any word on this problem?
I was wondering where my movies went!
Use ifile manager to create folder '.nomedia' and put all media in that folder.
All media files still retained after reboots/shutdowns.
Hope this help.
having .nomedia there doesn't do anything for me. Videos were still deleted but I did noticed that it only targets .m4v files and my .avi files were still there. I just encode to .avi now and so far so good. Videos are still there
VeganTab 5.1.1 Media WipeOut
I had transferred two dozen .avi files onto a 16GB microSD card via PC and at some point over the last few weeks, they all disappeared. I am left with only a LOST.DIR folder that is empty. Bummer. Trying the .nomedia trick now but will need to re-transfer the files later tonight. So far no issues with my other microSD card, but I had experienced quite a few no power ups after sleep recently (pushing the power button on didn't wake up the tablet and even a slight push eventually displayed the birds of total reboot) and I also have had the battery drain all the way down twice in the last few weeks. Weird.
Lost video files
The .nomedia trick worked for me under Vegan 5.11
Ed Kinsel
I actually create a folder called .nomedia and stuffed all my videos there. The problem stopped then. The bad side effect is that they do not show under the Gallery app. I open them via the file explorer.
Is this an issue with certain ROMs? I've used G-Harmony v1.2 mostly and never noticed this issue. Now I'm using the new G-Harmony-Gingerbread and still don't see this issue.
I have the same going on. Please post any fixes that anyone finds (besides hiding the files in a .nomedia directory.)
Thanks.
I'm actually still having this problem with Vegan 5.1 and supplement along with Clemsyn's kernel.
Videos may last 1 reboot or 1 day with no reboots and then they'll just disappear.
I've tried with .nomedia file (following Roebeet's advice to manually rename to avoid .txt extension) as well as the .nomedia folder holding the videos. I even used Windows and made the MP4 files read only to see if that made a difference.
I'd really like to hear some expert input on this problem! Everything has been great and this is one of my last hurdles.
I thought I was doing something wrong until I decided to do a quick search about the problem. It seems as though it would be an easy fix, but I am not a programmer by any means. I love Vegan, but I dont like to keep removing my SD card all the time. I will try the .nomedia trick for now.
This happened to me too! Gonna try the nomedia trick, too.
As it was, some of my Avi files didn't play at all.
I think I have to do a mass conversion...

Wifi Not working in Root Box and SuperNexus 2..(Stuck on "Obtaining IP adress")

Wifi Not working in Root Box and SuperNexus 2..(Stuck on "Obtaining IP adress")
Hi,
I Have GSIII I9300. It's rooted and I have installled latest Siyah Kernel and running Latest Jellybean Touchwiz 4.1.2. All is well.
I decided to try another Rom as secondary rom. I installed the Rootbox Rom and gapps as per instructions. And it booted
all is working except that the Wifi gets stuck at "Obtaining IP address". It connects to my network but doesn't get IP address from DHCP.
I thought it was a rom specific issue, So I tried SuperNexus 2.0..Still the same issue! I also tried installing them as Primary rom.
Still it gets stuck at "obtaining IP address".
Anyone have any inputs on what could be the issue here??
Finally Figured it out...
All you have to do is, Install a Touchwiz rom. Setup your Wifi.
Then go to "System/Etc" and copy the 'wifi' folder onto your External SD CARD. take note of the permissions on it before hand.
And then boot into your second (Or problematic) rom, turn off Wifi, and delete the same folder from same location (OR BACK IT UP!) and paste in your prev. copied folder in it's place. and set the permssions accordingly. And then Start Wifi!
Sorry I can't write properly. I am typing this using Wifi with PA ON MY SGS3!
Hi I don't no what the problem is but I have the same issue with rootbox and most new builds of cm10.1 AOKP aosp I found the way to fix it was using a static IP address also it doesn't matter what router I use even trying to tether to my wife's gs3 she dose not have this problem on hers running the same roms
Yes. I also can run with static ip, but then it loses Internet connectivity for some reasons.. sometimes it will come back and sometimes not.
Yes. Only happens in CM and AOSP roms..
i use rootbox most of the time and the first rom it stoped working on was nightly 20130125 i looked in the changelog and found this
rootBox Project name: vendor_samsung
•codeworkx - smdk4412: cleanup
•codeworkx - smdk4412: update bt and wifi firmware
•codeworkx - smdk4412: add t0ltei
i think the wifi firmware upgrade may be the problem as all nightleys before worked and none since have, hope this helps you work out the problem
I am running the latest stable release. BTW, I found thst it neither works in any non touch wiz ROM. When I set static IP. It connects to the network for a while and then disconnects.... connects but internet doesn't work.. really frustrating.
mine is the exact same i never noticed about conection to internet as i have unlimted data and olny use the router for straming meadia around house i also think not many s3 have this problem like i said my wife has a s3 and on the same roms her conection is fine so dont think it will be fixed any time soon if at all and searching the foroms has not showed up anything
WiFi problems worth trying a different kernel.
jje
thanks tried siayh,yank555,stock cm and temaseks none have worked fore me
So.....No custom roms for us???....damn sucks.....that's the reason I bought S3 for just now.

Thanks NHS2008 - how exactly did you do the file swapping? The file explorers/managers I have tried aren't able to do it for some reason!

I used ES Explorer on Standard TouchWiz Rom and used CM File manager that was present in PA Rom.
Sadly, Roms like SuperNexus and Rootbox don't come with ANY file manager by default.
Though you can of course use your data to download ES File explorer on other roms..
AND you need to be rooted to be able to access these folders.
In Es Explorer, Go into Settings/Root Settings and enable first three options.
The 'wifi' folder is located in "/sytem/etc/.."
(Press back when in SD CARD in ES)
also when i used the wifi file from a touchwiz rom although the wifi worked it stoped my wifi teather from working so i went back to the last rootbox rom that had wifi and wireless teather working extrated wifi folder pasted and now both are working. again many thanx for the fix

i had same problem last night when using touchwiz wifi folder either change the kernel to siayh or use the wifi folder from rootbox as above
Working
Well, this worked for me! (Finally)
I did this procedure.
1: I wiped my device, installed a touchwiz rom (Darky S3 v8.8).
2: Downloaded ES File Explorer
3: In ES FE, I asked for root access, R/W ability on system.
4: Copied the wifi map to my external sd card,
5: Went back to recovery, wiped my device again.
6: Installed new rom (SuperNexusRom 2.0 build 4)
7: Downloaded ES File Explorer
8: In ES FE, I asked for root access, R/W ability on system.
9: Copied my backup from external sd card back.
10: For rebooting, I activated the wifi. (Didnt work the first time)
11: Rebooted my device.
12: After booting, worked like a charm. (Now rebooted 20 times or so)
Hopefully this works for you guys to.
Notes:
- Having some glitches when turning on Bluetooth. Wifi connection is killed several times, but comes back up.
- Havent tried wifi tethering, dont use it here.

MTK 6589 GPS FIXED/stopped working need help - Haipai

Hi all - FINALLY got gps to work (for one day). I user root explorer to rename my old gps.conf file and uploaded one from the net for the UK. I got it working and was VERY excited after struggling for weeks.
ALot of the tuts I saw use mobileuncle tools for the engineer mode.. and I must be honest I felt like I was going in circles not quite understanding what does what and what actually finally made it work - now that it doesnt work anymore im a bit stumped as to why.
I know some of the gps apps actually reset your gps.conf to the ones that actually wont work so ive avoided those and checked my file contains the one that worked.
Some questions to help me understand -
When I turn on gps and go into mobile uncle - the GPS is off, why is this? shouldnt it be on??
Can someone (briefly) explain the what the following do and what the settings should be / when to use. IE should this always be on or put on during fixing/off after fixing etc
Mobile Uncle:
A-GPS reset w/o SI_REQ
A-GPS (on/off) -
EPO
EPO auto download
is there a 5 step process to reset the parameters/data (except for replacing the gps.conf cos mine works)..
like for example:
overwrite gpd.conf with correct location
Open mobile uncle -
enable gps
Epo / download
set gps data / reboot
thanks!
look there
