Call Recording on KitKat 4.4.2 rooted phone fix - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

If you noticed that call recording is broken with any app after updating Galaxy Note 3 to KitKat, this is a known issue with it's kernel. i found a simple workaround. It requires a rooted phone.
1) install Call Recorder Galaxy S4 & S5
2) when you start it for the first time it will ask you if you want to enable root mode mod to enable recording - select "yes" , let it patch the system - it will reboot after it's done.
3) After reboot Call recording is now working with this app and any other app. you can even uninstall this one now.

It's an Xposed framework module (requires root)...

Worked sorta. Would have to record a call with total recall first, then Wanam would work. After a reboot would have to repeat to make it work without the buzzing.

Where does the stock phone app save the phone recordings?

I believe "sounds" folder on sdcard.

Are you using 4.4.2. Because for me ACR worked fine till I upgraded to 4.4.2.

I'm considering going back to nab. I could care less about WiFi calling.

Well the XPOSED settings is baked in, or it used to be, so you could use that module.

I didn't see Xposed in the ROM but I installed it and the framework and activated the module. However I don't get a recording option in the phone app. I only have experience using it on TW ROMs so I'm wondering if there is a different module for aosp or is there another options section somewhere that I'm missing?

On beans 18....clean install. Go to exposed and I click modules and phone and click call record. Then when on a call I hit the menu button and an option comes up to record. It saves it in a sound file at the end and im done. Dont do anything else....no apps or flashing apks ..... guess its baked into beans and you just have to have that box checked. I dont touch other roms too much. Beans runs the best for my phone so I stick with it. Hopefully I gave you an idea.

[Q] Viper4Android not working

Hello XDA members, I have installed recent version of Viper4android on my Xperia ultra, which has recent firmware.290 rooted with stock ROM and unlocked bootloader, I know all settings of vipre4android and been using on my HTC phones since long time with great result.
But with Xperia ultra I tried all things many times installed and removed viper to try different drivers and settings but no result no any changes in music at all, I tried default Walkman, and tried win-amp, Apollo, Power-Amp with no success, all time the driver status shows me not processing and no change in sound effects, I tried to installed all drivers with no luck.
Is there any one using Viper4android? and is it working on our Ultra?
Is there anything specific settings we need to use?

Nope, had everything stock. Just had root access, installed viper, and then installed the viper driver. C6833 too.
Make sure you do tick the box at the top (Master control or something) for each output section (headphone/bluetooth/speaker) to actually turn on viper though. That got me the first time and I thought it wasn't working.

I got it to work on 4.3 (290)
1. FX version v2.3.1.1 (Android 2.3~4.3). Let it install, reboot
2. FX Compatible Mode: Compatible
3. Go to Settings > Sound > Music Effects > Viper4android
4. From Poweramp, Settings > Audio > Advanced Tweaks
-Uncheck Direct Volume Control
-Check MusicFX
5. From PowerAmp Tone control, switch on MusicFX. Then press and hold the same button, so that it takes you to the V4A settings screen.
V4A will take effect then.
Hope this helps!

The thing is I am running CM ROM.. which is Kit Kat 4.2... I think that is why it isn't working for me.
Check out "RMC: Android Call Recorder"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.record.my.call Make sure in tweaks you change source to phone call and audio format to wav for best quality. Works on stock rooted mj4.
I use Wanam module for Xposed. There is an option for call recording. However, it's not automatic. While in a call you have to hit MENU then select call record. Saves the files to Voice Recorder app location. It records both sides of the call perfectly

[MOD] Unlock your native hotspot app

I have shifted my focus and will no longer support the mods in this thread, please see http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...apps/app-gs5-native-hotspot-unlocker-t2980905 for my latest work to unlock your native hotspot. Thanks for testing these as they came up and all of your input.
**NOTE**
This has been tested by a few people in the original thread with success, your mileage may vary. As always, you are responsible for your phone, and it's warranty.
**PREREQUISITES**
1 Your phone must be rooted, I have followed the guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696537
2 You must have a custom recovery installed, I have used the one from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697762
So here is the step by step:
1. Make a backup
2. Download the appropriate zip for you rom version. The three letter code in the filename should match the last three letters of your rom version. Odex version is for odexed roms, deodex version for deodexed roms.
3. Flash the zip and reboot.
Thanks to @Scolias for jumping on the zip creation so fast, and being the first one to test the modification (other than me)
**UPDATE***
For the original mod version:
If you update your PRL you will need to reflash and reboot:
Thanks for the heads up @Y.G.
**UPDATE 2***
Added Icon in Notification panel, Thanks @eyecon82 for providing the SQL data for Notification panel. Also added some SQL to try to enable bluetooth and usb tethering, let me know how they work. Download and flash version 1.2 for these updates.
***Update 3***
Since it has already been pulled into a DeOdex for our phone, and the same modification used on the s3 KitKat I figured I would post the services.jar files here too. You need to be on DeOdex for these to work, and note that the latest DeOdex available for our Sprint S5 from @sleshepic already has this built in. These are mostly just for reference, and so all the hotspot downloads are in one easy to find place.
ND2 Services.jar - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2714478&d=1398719510
NCB Services.jar - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2716739&d=1398822075
Rename the file to Services.jar for your baseband version, backup your old copy and put the new one in. Using the Services.jar survives PRL updates and does not require the usage of the previous mods.
If anyone needs it I can post the changes in the smali files here, its pretty simple though using grep in tethering.smali, it involves setting a var to 0x0 from 0x1, in the tethering.smali by the dun_required string.
***Update 4***
Big thanks to @rocket321 for helping me out with odexing. I have made a flashable zip that uses services.jar instead of modifying the APN. Flashing the new version will remove all APN modifications from the previous versions and install the new services, jar for odex or de-odex versions. Currently I have only built for ND2 roms, if there is any need for NCB let me know and I will work on it. New files attached below, just flash from recovery and tether . Enjoy and if this helps you please give thanks, and don't forget to thank @rocket321 as well.
Anybody making ROMs feel free to incorporate the files below, otherwise they should be able to be flashed right on top of the rom, assuming there are no modifications to the services.jar file in the desired ROM..
***Update 5***
Added NCB zips, built jars and odexes using my new tool modStudio
***Update 6***
Added NE5 versions to downloads, big thanks to @crawrj and @townsenk for making them
***Update 7***
Added NI3 versions, need testing the size of the ODEX package has shrunk and I am not sure why. Please let me know if you guys notice anything weird, so far so good for me but YMMV. Added back new dynamic way of adding to the notification panel, again let me know how this works out.
***Update 8***
Added new NI3 versions for testing, make a backup before testing JIC
***Update 9***

Sprint will sometimes push a PRL update in the background if there are issues on a cell tower caused by your phone dropping and blocking a connection to quickly. So if you notice the hotspot not working, I would just re-flash the hotspot mod. Just in case sprint did a PRL update in the background with out you knowing,
Flashed this and can confirm that both USB and Wi-Fi tethering work. Thanks!

That module actually works on the S5 if you use SQLite editor to add the build.prop edit to a file outside of the build.prop (since for some reason, the line was moved).

I took a quick peek at the volume mod for the s4 and I don't think we can do it the same way. Thats not saying it can't be done but...
Also, you might want to post this as a question in the Q/A section, it will get more attention there since this thread is related to the hotspot not many people will look here for ideas regarding audio mods.

[TUTORIAL] How to install Xposed on the T-Mobile V10

Since several people have asked about this in my thread asking about plugins, I thought I'd put together a quick tutorial on how to get Xposed working on a ROOTED T-Mobile V10.
Requirements:
A ROOTED T-Mobile LG V10 running TWRP - Check out this thread for instructions on flashing TWRP and Root (Credit KAsp3rd)
Xposed V75 sdk22 arm64 - Link Courtesy mikeyinid
Xposed Installer 3.0 Alpha 4 - Link Courtesy Kenyonj
Known Issues:
Second Screen Force Closes any time a call is made or received
Second Screen Quick Contacts Widget doesn't work
Please report any others
Process:
OEM unlock, flash TWRP, Flash root
MAKE A BACKUP IN TWRP!!! (Very important. Xposed Framework will break things, and you may decide it's best to go back to stock for now.)
Copy the two files downloaded above onto the phone
Flash Xposed V75 sdk22 arm64 zip file in TWRP
Install Xposed Installer 3.0 Alpha 4 apk with a file manager
Run Xposed app, download plugins
Recommended Plugins:
Gravity Box - Change battery icons, hide ongoing notifications, change notification bar colors, change clock, etc. Many options do not work however. (Credit Airtioteclint)
Please recommend any that work well for you!
What not to try:
DPI Change - Will break systemui (Credit Warrior1975
Advanced power menu options in Gravitybox. We have a very custom poweroff menu, Gravitybox doesn't change anything on it.
Please let me know if anything you try breaks something
Thanks to KAsp3rd, Mikeyinid, Kenyonj, Airtioteclint, Warrior1975
So, just having xposed installed will break secondscreen?

Wi-Fi calling works as long as you have a LTE connection. It is sort of broken with Xposed installed.
I always have it enabled, so that could explain why it worked for me.

Yup, I didn't notice either until someone asked me to test it. It's a known issue on the G4 as well.
Does anyone use PowerNap? The other modules I've used seem to work fine but PowerNap seems to make it go into such a deep sleep that I have to do a battery pull. I'm sure I have to find some apps to whitelist to stop it from happening but not sure which.
Big thanks for this! I've been having fun all day trying out various Xposed modules. I have my phone exactly how I want it now (for now lol)
Was anyone able to get Gravity Box to work? I get "GravityBox system framework not responding. Exiting."
GB works fine for me. Are you sure you are using the latest lollipop version and have v75 arm64 of xposed installed?
I use GB to center the clock, enable quick pin unlock, and to enable the circle battery
Looks like the second screen issue has been resolved. I installed the ZIP package and I have not seen any issues for the past hour I have been testing.

Been playing around with G4 Tweaksbox , it works for our device. Added a couple of nice tweaks, call recording being an important (I need it for my business). Have a few more options to mess with but the theming options work for the most part.
