Suppose to wait 30mins before using external speaker after its been wet. I called in because I felt the same. Now I place it in a towel set to the side for it. Works perfect.

And if you take it out in the water, heed the 30min, 3' rule!! You'll get awesome video, and pictures but it'll toast it. I sent mine to Sony, and they sent me a new one with no problem. No charge, think I got lucky though (I placed a good review I wrote months back along w/docs required). Remember to take your SD card; you won't get it back. Great phone. Want the z2 compact. I find the waterproof feature the one most value on the market right now. Sorry for the spill

Yeah I'd be careful taking it into the shower with you. One thing that has been problematic with other electronics is the heat in a shower can have unexpected consequences.

The phone has water resistance, its not water proof. Personally, I would still try and keep it away from water at all costs. Its only really meant for say like if your stuck in a storm and it gets some rain drops on it or something. I would definately still not go into a shower with it or go swimming with it.

It's waterproof. I've put this thing to the test. Just have to stick to the 30min, 3' rule (tough when you're having fun). No salt water.

Actually its not waterproof and was never touted to be. It is certified to be IP67 Water Resistant. Which means that it is dust tight and can be immersed in 1m of water for 30 minutes and it should be ok. Water proof would mean that it would be able to withstand any degree of water. If anybody is interested this page has a pretty good description and chart of what Ingress Protection is and what the numbers mean.
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Wate...im-or-is-secretly-afraid-of-the-water_id53205
Have to to say though, its pretty inpressive how far up the S5 is on the chart. It is narrowing in on water proof territory.

Oooh Ok. I took mine out 4 times, vids & pics. Underwater. 1st 3 times worked like a charm, and we only used it for a short time. When you 1st go under the screen jumps around a bit. It settles after a quick second. The 4th time I took it to a water park, and had it out in the sun for about 5-6 hours. That killed it. Phone still worked, but screen went way dim. Had to use a flashlight to see it. Vids & pics were great though. Down water slides and all. So much fun with this phone. Just can't get too carried away. My bad for the wrong verbiage. I do attest this thing will create memories.

Actually the phone can withstand some pretty abusive water tests
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9J611BuXhw
I went into my pool with it today just to test it. Worked great! Water proof means it can withstand water for an unlimited amount time, but doesn't mean its water proof in any condition.

3ft of water for an hour works perfectly no issues, speaker was funny but 2 mins of a hair dryer with no battery cover or battery and a restart fixed that.....in my opinion that's waterproof. How much more could u possibly need honestly

I have been wanting to try this so bad, but kinda scared too lol. I have read a lot of people being able to take their phones into a pool or something successfully.
Question, if the back and power cover are sealed correctly, will Samsung warranty the phone if it gets wet and stops working?

How would they know if the back and power cover "were indeed on properly"?? To answer your question, no.. And as long as Samsung keeps making removable batteries (god i hope so) they never will.. All that said, make sure the back is on and power cover is locked in and dunk it!! I do it all the time. Weird but its an awesome feeling lol

Don't care if it says "water resistant" It's WATER PROOF!
only reason they probably don't say proof is warrant. Bottom line, it's water proof. It can withstand hours underwater with no problem.
Samsung finally made a commercial and shows people completely dousing the phones under water.
I jumped in my pool with mine. there are tons of videos online showing how water "proof" this phone actually is. I think the sony Phone that we all know is water "proof" still only has an IP67 rating

This is not right.Go to the store and get a replacement.
But s... happens and 20 mil units sold in less than 2 month some of them will be faulty
I've seen about 20 phones and pretty much all have that problem to some degree. I had a 16gb blue and now a 32gb blue and both gathered dust around the edges and home button. Yours seems to be slightly worse on the side.
Anyway, although I love the phone I can't believe samsung's build quality can be so bad. I also own an iphone and after 2 years it still hasn't gathered any dust anywhere. Shame such a good phone is spoilt by crap build quality.

You obviously have a white model which is why the dust doesn't show up as much as on the blue. Even then it mostly shows in bright light / sunlight.
BTW, my preference of phone is none of your business. Just stating facts. I sell phones for a living and haven't seen 1 yet that had a perfect fit along the edges and back cover for that matter. For a phone with such a big price tag that is pretty **** on samsungs part.
FWIW, I've owned the S1, S2 and now S3 and the galaxy series is my preferred phone. But Apple build quality is miles ahead, and that includes the 3gs iPhone which had a rubber seal between the screen and edging to avoid dust buildup.

You have a white one and since the dust on mine shows as white, it obviously wont stand out on yours.
You can do a quick test. Rip a small piece of paper and run the pointy bit along the edges, front and back. If it can go in, then it will gather dust.
As for your friends blue one, check it while sitting indoors with sunlight shining through a window onto the phone. He will likely see dust around the edges. That's how I noticed mine.

Lol. What part of my comments are based on emotion? Stating that I have physically seen 20 or so units and all had a gap to some degree has nothing to do with emotion. But since you've seen 2 perfect phones means that you are fully informed. My apologies sir.

believe me i tried your suggestion because i know it's a good thing to clean the edges once in a while so that the dust won't accumulate, but using a thin piece of paper and trying to insert the right angle edge did not go in.
so there are no gaps.
btw this is a white gs3.

Thanks for testing. Well its good to know that there are ones out there with no gaps. Pity mine has a small gap at the bottom. Not really noticeable but in certain lighting conditions the dust does show.
After selling my 16gb to buy a 32gb model, was hoping the second one was better but it was just the same. Small gap or not, I wouldn't give up my phone for anything out there. The S3 is pure beauty.

So I cracked my screen!

So I was laying down and the phone slide off my wireless charger I knocked it off actually and it literally fell 2 feet and cracked hit the corner of the screen had the case on my phone the stock case but it offers no protection. So I'm really hoping the replacement phone doesn't come with ota update then I'd be able to root. Crossing fingers and now I have to get a really good case for this phone that offers protection.

Landed face down on the screen. I thought it was totally done. I pick it up and not one scratch. I guess some are just luckier than others . I drop my phone from 5 feet+ all the time doing bunny hops on my bike when it falls out of my pocket and never any scratches. I think this phone is really strong and durable. Can I see a picture of the device? It hurts to see such a great device and such terrible condition.

Anyone have any experience with this case on this phone or any other phone? Looks like a straight rip off of the TakTik for the iPhone. I love the look of it! I'm tempted to buy one and see how it is.

Using it right now. Sure it does feel heavy and stuff. Aint water proof more like water resistant the glass panel of the casing easily left a finger print mark. Phone feels solid and sturdy drop it a few times and it sure does give u a peace of mind knowing how well this case protects your phone. To me even if it feels heavy or big or bulky it is well worth it to spend on it rather than letting your phone drop and smashed.

mine is in the mail
I actually ordered one of these last week for $28 eBay. I'm hoping it is decent. Didn't buy for waterproof just want drop protection. Search the forums other people have reviewed this case. Plus there's some reviews on Amazon.
Damn, that's a sexy case. Only issue would be changing batteries in and out. It's screwed together, correct?

i had one for my S4 and I can tell you the following:
water covering over the earpiece makes it hard as hell to hear anyone
water covering over the speaker makes anything playing out of it dull sounding and not as loud
water covering over the mic makes anyone on the phone sound muffled
Now I took all my water coverings off so it was pretty much a metal otterbox with no waterproof seals and I loved it. Some people didnt like how heavy it was, but it was not a big deal for me.

This case is great for the look and little water protect but what's happening for the reception for phone, wifi, BT, GPS ... ?

The back and the sides are not covered by metal so the reception shouldn't be affected.

Great, thanks a lot for your reply. I buy it as fast as possible !
Well whenever I saw the TakTik case for the iPhone I was VERY tempted to jump over the chasm just for that beautiful beast of a case! I've always looked for a case that would mimic the TakTik. If anyone can post a picture or two of it, and also if anyone finds a link for a low price for one, I'm sure all of us will appreciate it!

Found one for $29.90 with free shipping worldwide! There are some a bit cheaper, but I always search for the seller with a decent amount of feedback at 100%. You can also choose from a few colors!
Does anyone know about the screen protector that's built in? How responsive is it?

I got one on my phone everything is functional. Yes s-pen is in there but on exposed there is a mod to hid all items in the top left of the status bar so this way you can leave your s-pen a quarter of the way out and you will be able to pull it out with your finger nail other then that it's great. I had to buy a case with a holster for the 6.3 mega to use it with a holster. I heated up the side of the holster with a heat gun bent them out and now it's no longer a brick in my pocket. Down side it's heave now with the case one hit and you can knock someone out cold with it and still make a phone call when done. Lol I haven't tried. If you guys want pics I'll be happy to post some.

Pretty responsive. It was made of a real glass not sure is it a true corning gorilla glass or just a normal glass for the case screen protector. I'd say worth the money bro. Should get it. Im sorry no picture as i didnt have a phone or xtra phone to take a picture of it

Is there any sort of TPU on any of their protection levels to help absorb shock/impact in case of a fall?
Thanks for all the responses! I ordered one from the link I posted earlier. When I receive it I will make a video for you all, probably won't be anything special but it I'm sure will help out your decision making process. I absolutely can not wait!

Does your Xperia Z Ultra creek?

Hey guys
I wanted to test the build quality of my phone so I took it out of the case. Amd grabbed it from both sides and slightly flexed it
It makes a bit of a creeking noise to which concerns me a little, could this be a fault and result in the waterprofness not working?
Let me know if it happens when if you flex yours, the sound seems to come from the lower right hand corner

I don't think putting it in your front pocket makes as big of a difference people think, I had it in there for a while without a case and my phone hasn't bent etc. But it's still a good question to ask, just a random statement from me lol

I'm not talking about bending. If you put some stress on something for a period of time, it'll start to weaken and then probably creek. I don't know how old you are, but i remember when i had the Nokia 3210/3310/3410 etc. which had plastic back covers, and they would start to creek like hell after i'd removed the covers a lot.
If your thigh bumps and puts stress on the frame of the Ultra for some time (walking and sitting a lot with it in your front pocket, for example), it'll start to creek. That, i can tell you.

Fair enough, I'm just trying to say that mine has held up well and I have sat with it in my front pocket and walked a lot.

Someone upstairs likes you I'm not saying that it will happen, but it might be one of the causes. Just treat it like a delicate electronic gadget, which it is after all.

Ive had it less then a week, and its been in my front pocket a few times but I usually have it in my side coat pocket
Do you think it would get water damaged If I were to drop it in water?

You realize it's fully water-proof, right?
You can submerge it in 1.5m of water for up to 30 minutes I believe.

But from what I've read, you have particularly poor luck so far.
I really hope they send you back a fully functioning ZU with no problems this time around - ideally a complete replacement.

Waterproofness

Hi guys, I recently felt that my phone was weird. The back was able to be pressed in further and squeaked when I applied pressure on it. Will this affect the waterproofness of the phone? This has been going on for quite some time now. Is it that the glue isn't strong anymore or is it just the nature of the construction of the phone?
My old phone did the same but it was 100% fine around water for over a year

I actualy have no idea
I thought it may be something to do with the battery or vibrator motor.

Thanks again, i think battery is moved a little an then return to its proper site when I pressed it… is it important to repair? If the back cover opened, water resistance has been gone?!
